Beautiful views, incredible food, and surprisingly family-friendly! While visiting Maui, we made a reservation at The Plantation House, and it ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. The setting alone is stunning--overlooking the Kapalua golf course with gorgeous ocean views--but the food absolutely lived up to the scenery. We started with a fresh house salad, which was simple but perfectly dressed and a great way to kick things off. For entrées: * My husband ordered the short rib, which was incredibly tender and rich with flavor. The sauce paired perfectly with the creamy mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. * My oldest son had the prime rib, and it was cooked beautifully with a great sear and topped with asparagus and a flavorful butter. * I chose the shrimp scampi, which was buttery, garlicky, and packed with shrimp. The pasta was coated in the most delicious creamy sauce and even came with toasted bread to soak up every bit of it. * My younger two ordered from the kids menu--the kids short rib and butter-and-cheese fettuccini--and both plates were generous and surprisingly elevated for kids' meals. Everything we ordered came out looking beautiful and tasting just as good. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the whole experience felt relaxed but still upscale. Came to Maui on a trip and visited here with my mom, and it ended up being one of our favorite dining experiences. The view was absolutely stunning, overlooking the golf course! We arrived right around sunset, and honestly wished we had come a little earlier to fully take it in. Such a gorgeous setting. The service was amazing. Our server was incredibly kind and kept offering us more bread (which I happily accepted because it was that good). The bread came with chive butter that was so flavorful, and the bread itself was warm and delicious. There was also live music, which made the ambience even better--just an all-around beautiful place to relax and enjoy a meal. Bonus points for free valet, which made parking super easy. For food, we got the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi, which was really good, slightly on the sweeter side, but still flavorful. The Hawaiian short ribs were a standout for me: super tender, perfectly cooked, and just packed with flavor. We also ordered the panko crusted calamari, which I loved. The pieces were thick, juicy, and had a light, crispy coating that wasn't greasy at all, really easy to eat. Portions were also very decent. The Plantation House was spectacular! Located in Kapalua, Hawaii, this popular restaurant is known for its island-inspired cuisine, stunning ocean and golf course views, and upscale, yet casual atmosphere! My wife booked us a table for weekend brunch! I love a hearty breakfast, so I ordered the portuguese sausage, bacon and cheddar omelette! Omg, fire!!! My wife ordered the chicken wings with extra cilantro sauce- AMAZING! The chicken was super tender and delicious! My daughters ordered the caesar salad with protein, and an egg scrambled with a side of portuguese sausage- because why the hell not?! It's that delish! Drinks were on point and refreshing! Service was absolutely superb! Our waiter was super friendly and chatty (it's that Aloha spirit). We went to the plantation house for dinner. It was a dark drive up there and couldn't see much of the green views, but that's OK since it was at night. The bread was surprisingly good. It was soft on the inside and nicely toasted on the outside. We ordered the lobster ravioli, and braised short rib plate. The lobster ravioli was really good. Whatever sauce they had on there complemented the dish really nicely. The breed short plate was good. The meat was tender and soft and the sauce on it was sweet almost like a teriyaki for dessert. We had the upside down pineapple cake that came with coconut ice cream. Definitely give that a try that was a good pick. Our waitee was really nice and attentive, and these places really make effort to make your dining experience a memorable one . read more

The Plantation House is a must see/do restaurant when in Maui. Located on a PGA golf course, elevated with fantastic views, I cannot think of a better place to start a day with their delicious breakfast/brunch. The views alone we would pay for. Even though we had an unfortunate birthday experience here in Jan 24 we decided to give it another go and this time it was excellent. Hubby was celebrating another year older and we love the food here so we booked online and were seated at a front row table for 2 with an outstanding view of the golf course and Molokai. We arrived at 12.30pm with breakfast and lunch being served simultaneously so I plumped for my fave crab cake benny and Hubbs chose the chimichurri steak and wedge. We drank Pain in the Coconut (a fruity concoction of orange and pineapple juice, bitters and rum) and a non alcoholic version of it too. Both were sublime on a warm sunny day looking at the blue, blue ocean. Hubby's sweet tooth was delighted by the pineapple upside down pud served a la mode, and the chocolate bomb which was served with creme anglaise was delish! Even I ate a spoon or two and I normally don't like dessert as it is too sweet Hubby received a birthday card from the staff and Melissa M was fantastic, attentive and chatty, and excellent at keeping us topped up with drinks and bringing everything we needed. We didn't even realise it was her first day until we tried to pay with a gift voucher and she asked another server to show her how to process it. They also showed us how to sign up for a special offer using a QR that we can use at Plantation House and Castaways in Kaanapali which gave us $10 off our meal! The lady with the cute pink hair at the entrance desk made sure we got a great table for 2 too. All in all we had a fantastic birthday lunch, food was fantastic, and we enjoyed every bite and every minute. I have been dining here for years, this is my first visit in 7 years! The views are still amazing. The service was impeccable throughout our visit. We had the best table sitting at the window for the three of us. We had a couple of food glitches from the kitchen but they were so gracious and took amazing care of us. The food is pretty good. This visit we had the veggie omelet plate and steak and wedge salad plate. Plenty of food, brought leftovers home too and they were fantastic reheated! If I could give 4.5 that's where I'd put it. The view was a 10 for sure. The service was good and the food was good. The drinks were sub par. My drink had strawberry puree and grapefruit soda. We started with drinks, and the Lavender Whale cocktail was refreshing and beautifully balanced. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement. I made a reservation at The Plantation House right after I made the reservation to go to Maui. I made it for the date of my husband's birthday. The week before we flew in, I received a phone call saying that they needed to close the restaurant for 2 days to fix something. I do understand that these types of things happen and need to be addressed. We were able to reschedule for a few days later, I mentioned the celebration of my husband's birthday and was told that they would have a grand celebration for him. That didn't happen. When we walked into the restaurant, the maitre'd mentioned that when it was time for dessert, that they would take care of us. We were given a choice of tables and chose one with a magnificent view. We ordered wine and reviewed the menu. Since my husband is a big fan of escargot, he ordered that as a starter. It was very good and the typical service for the dish. I ordered the Kula Farms Greens. We normally split a salad. Although the salad with the papaya seed dressing was very good, it was certainly not big enough for 2 people to split. As an entree, I ordered the Seafood Chow Fun. It was mostly the char siu pork with 2 scallops and 2 shrimp. I did not detect any crab in the dish, although it is in the description of the dish. It was very good and I did enjoy it. My husband ordered the Brown Sugar Togarashi Seared Ahi. He did enjoy this dish. We were asked if we wanted dessert and because we were celebrating, we ordered the sorbet to share. The promises that were made about our trip to the Plantation house were promises unkept. I expected to have a candle or something to indicate that it was a special occasion. I don't understand why the maitre'd said anything about taking care of us at dessert time. The service was very good. The scenery was amazing. The respect for rescheduling our visit and the celebration of a special occasion was severely lacking. We have been to Maui many times for my husband's birthday and The Plantation House always took care of us. For us, it is not a special place any longer. read more

Had a family photo shoot at DT Fleming Beach and saw that the plantation house was nearby so I made a reservation for dinner for after our photo shoot. The restaurant is on a beautiful golf course with amazing views. They have complementary valet parking. They have take great food and drink menu. I ordered the local catch of the day, my husband ordered the shrimp scampi, and we got our son the kids chicken tenders, and fries. For drinks, I ordered the Lilikoi Joy and my husband got pain in the coconut. Both really good drinks that were well-made and refreshing. I can't remember what the fish of the day was but it came with lobster risotto, local vegetables, lobster cognac cream. The risotto didn't have the right consistency. It was more like rice with pieces of lobster. The vegetables were cooked well and had a good crunch to them. The fish was also cooked very well and well seasoned. We were able to get a 630 pm reservation on a a Tuesday evening, and while we didn't snag a 'perfect' spot, the hostess made sure we had a great view of the sunset. Alas, that night's show wasn't spectacular, but the view sure is, regardless. Honestly, who needs a sunset with the natural beaty of the green course and the blue ocean!? Really special. But, the stars of the night were phenomenal service from Amanda, and the food! Casual Fine Dining, an excellent wine list and great cocktails. We had the Tomato Bisque, soup of the day, and the Lobster Ravioli to start. Both were great. For dinner, the daily special Fish Duo (3 oz kampachi and 3 oz butter fish) was crazy good, and the Macadamia Crusted Mahi over coconut rice with a tomato sauce and asparagus was perfect. The pineapple was so juicy it made me close my eyes, such a refreshing way to start the day! The fruit plate truly hit home base, and the plating itself was absolutely beautiful. The Lobster Benedict was another highlight. The bread had a perfect crunch, the lobster was fresh, and the eggs were cooked just right. The potatoes were a bit on the mushy side (I personally prefer them more roasted), but overall the dish was still delicious. The French toast was incredible--fluffy, warm, and sweet, with the syrup served warm so it paired beautifully with each bite. The service was excellent: polite, attentive, and delivered with a great spirit. The view absolutely breathtaking. Lots of good breakfast choices. As a resident of another island, I've definitely had better loco mocos but it wasn't too bad, if it was less burnt maybe it would have been better. The prices are definitely reasonable and you can't beat the view. Had to wait a long time to order and get the check but other than that it was a great experience! We were able to make a reservation for lunch only 30 min before, but they still had tables for walk ins on a Friday around 115pm. We ordered the Fish N Chips, Herb Grilled Chicken Sandwich and the Fresh Green Salad. For drinks we got a No Pain Coconut Drink and a Majestic Paloma. Food was good but not exceptional for the pricing and the size. Guess you are paying more for the view than the food. Food is nothing out of this world. Drinks were better than the food. My soup was served cold and I had to wait to get someone to help because staff kept walking by not not checking, my fish was ...fine. For the price I expect more than fine. Tuna appetizer was mid. Worst mai tai I've ever had. Tasted like some sort of spiked koolaid. Service was SO slow for us and grossly inconsistent with others. The restaurant was so loud it was hard to talk or order. We made a res at the Plantation House for our fancy dinner while on Maui. Although the service and ambiance were very good, the lack of execution on the entrees warrants a 3 star rating overall. My escargot was ok. The sauce was more creamy vs the garlic butter sauce I am accustomed to. Likewise, her beet salad was very good. There was a lot of local produce, and the goat cheese was nice and tart. On the other hand, the entrees were a complete fail. My scallops were dry and the risotto was mushy. Mala Ocean in Lahaina does a much better job w/ this dish. Her sig short rib was dry AF. She hardly ate any of it. We will not return bc there is much better food in West Maui at lower prices. I was hesitant to visit this restaurant based on its name (we're still using plantation in 2025? ) but decided to trust the reviews and go for brunch. I made a reservation the day of because there was plenty of availability when I looked the night before; plus there's a $25 no show fee that I wanted to avoid in case my plans changed last minute. Brunch is served until 1:45pm or so which offers a lot of flexibility. I was not lucky enough to sit on the perimeter of the restaurant but I was close enough to enjoy the view. Having looked at the menu in advance, I knew I planned to order banana bread and the plantation (there's that word again...) omelette. Both were enjoyable with the banana bread being the star of the show. I regret ordering the plantation (ugh) iced coffee and pineapple juice because the former simply had too much going on and the latter was processed instead of fresh squeezed or cold pressed (I should have known from the $5 price tag). Parking was easy and both the hostess and server were friendly. The hostess actually greeted me by name which was lovely. I would visit again but I'm hopeful for a name change of this establishment sooner than later. read more

We really wanted to love this place, especially since it was our second visit, but it missed the mark in a few areas. The food was good, not great. I had the catch of the day (yellowtail) and received two pieces -- one was excellent, but the other was the tail end and not the best quality. My partner ordered the filet, which was slightly overcooked for her liking, though she mostly enjoyed it. Where we felt they could really improve is the outdoor lighting. I requested a window seat to enjoy the view of the beautiful property, but once the sun went down, it was pitch black outside -- not exactly the romantic atmosphere we'd hoped for. Our server was professional but lacked personality, which made the experience feel a little flat. On a positive note, the "bomb" chocolate dessert absolutely lived up to its name and was the highlight of the meal! The best restaurant experience on this trip to Maui. Possibly the best in our 3 visits to the island. The food was excellent. We had the macadamia crusted tilapia and the kachampaci. Both were excellent. Cooked to perfection and nice portions. Our server Chelsea was wonderful. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and she brought a signed card from the staff and even a dessert. We had live entertainment, someone playing guitar and singing.
