Looked up the menu on this chain and since we wanted to have a breakfast with some Hawaiian touches (like local bacon, ham or sweet bread), we tried it out. Super disappointing. First of all, the layout is a scam. You pay and tip at the beginning before they've even helped you. Not knowing what to expect, or that we would be seating ourselves, I tipped 20%. All the waitress got us was our food. We got our own drinks and our own table. Then, because I wanted a taste of local food, I got the papaya bowl, with the sweet bread French Toast. He got the traditional breakfast with Kalua Pork. The papaya bowl was a pre made refrigerated bowl (I saw it at the front in the case, but assumed I would get a fresh version). The French toast did not taste like sweet bread. It tasted like regular old French toast. And the Kalua Pork didn't have any flavor. Don't waste your time or money. read more

We visited the Kihei Caffe at the Maui Gold Hotel in late September 2025, while the hotel is undergoing renovations (scheduled until December 2025). During this time, they're serving a smaller menu poolside in to-go boxes, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion sizes. My husband ordered the Loco Moco with Spam, which came with rice, a fried egg, brown gravy, and topped with green onions. It was hearty, flavorful, and a classic Hawaiian comfort dish. BIG dish! My mom and I went for the veggie burrito option (served without a tortilla) - essentially a scramble with eggs, spinach, melted cheese, avocado, jalapeños, and a side of fries. It was both filling and a relatively healthy breakfast choice, which we appreciated. We also tried the Keiki French Toast, which was golden, soft, and came with whipped cream. A simple but well-done treat that kids will enjoy. Even with the limited menu and the more casual poolside setup, Kihei Caffe delivered good food with generous portions. The menu leans toward hearty, satisfying breakfasts but still offers some lighter, veggie-forward options. We left full and happy - a nice way to start the morning on Maui. The actual physical cafe restaurant is under construction right now so they are serving by the pool. Its a very chill and relax type of place to eat. Very casual. Service was pretty fast and our waitress was nice. She got our orders in quickly and got them out very quickly as well. I got the French toast with 2 eggs scrambled. I asked if I could get potatoes instead of the breakfast meat options. It was nice they accommodated me. My friend and I didn't ask for it to go, that is just how they serve their food for the time being I suppose. Breakfast was nonetheless delicious! This Kihei Caffe is located in Maui Coast Hotel. When you enter, grab a menu and place your order with the cashier. Grab a seat, and your food should come to you fairly quickly! The location has plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. The vibes are great and the air is fresh! I ordered the corned beef hash with rice and eggs over easy. Note: As of April 2025, there is an additional $2 charge for any and all egg dishes. There is a 3% surcharge if you pay with card. Bring cash to play it safe! The portion was perfect, the hash was crispy and delicious, rice was well-cooked and eggs were delicious. The biscuit was buttery and yummy. If you're visiting Maui (like me) and looking for a casual place to brunch with family, this is the spot. Located in the Maui Coast Hotel, this restaurant isn't your typical, sit and order restaurant, the service is still welcoming and quick. You place your order at the cashier, grab your utensils from them, pick up your drinks at the bar, and find a seat to dine in while they prepare for your meal. Once your meal is ready, a server will call your name and bring it right to your table. For drinks, the offer the usual breakfast beverages: coffee, juice, mimosas. There is also a self-serve station for water and condiments. As for the food, I ordered the Irish eggs benedict which came with fresh corned beef hash and grilled tomatoes. Now, the usual corned beef hash includes fillers like potatoes and onions, peppers, etc. But during my visit, it was straight corned beef. It was still delicious regardless as it went well with the perfectly runny yolk of the poached egg, the sweet grilled flavor of the tomato, and the English muffin. The fried potatoes on the side also was a great addition to the whole entire dish. The dish itself filled my stomach while my heart was filled with spending quality time with my family. A few things to note are: 1) there is currently a temporary $2 surcharge on any fried of poached eggs, which a sign was posted in front by the cashier, 2) there is a small lot across the restaurant for you park, and 3) this place tend to get busy during peak brunch hours but the process is smooth. As mentioned, you order, find a seat, grab your drinks at the bar, and wait for your name to be called. It's a laid-back vibe for sure but when you're on vacation, it's all good. read more

Maui Wowee?? My friends and I came here this purely out of covenience reasons. This restaurant is located on the same property as our hotel (Maui Coast). NOTES 1. Revised hours are 6:00am to 2:00pm. There is actually a sign at the entrance notating their 2:00pm closure. 2. Per signage near the entrance: take a menu, order at the register, pick up your drinks, and have a seat. 3. There's another sign near the cashier notating to please order your food before finding a seat; essentially discouraging savings seats. 4. Indoor and outdoor seating available; though most seating is in their outdoor patio/lanai. 5. Provide your name to the cashier. Your name will be called when your food and drinks are ready. FOOD / DRINK The menu is very extensive. Per the menu, they serve breakfast all day. To note, the flip side of the menu is lunch and dinner. I was with 2 friends, and one was the other person in our group that also chose the Chorizo scramble. Our other friend ordered the Banana bread French toast. The food was ok, and slightly overpriced, but I guess that's what expected at a place that caters to tourists. There are many breakfast choices on the menu, so I feel confident one would fine something to satisfy their breakfast appetite. SERVICE Like the food, it was ok. The cashier was friendly enough, and the guy who dropped off our food was polite. We all thought they should adopt a better system when informing customers their order is ready. I think using a number system or providing small devices that vibrate or light up would be more efficient. Sometimes it seemed difficult to hear names, and while we were eating we observed a worker unable to find a customer when calling their name. While in Maui, we stayed at a very nice hotel called the Maui Coast. At the entry of the hotel lies the Kihei Caffe (second location on Maui). We saw this place had quite a group of people the day we walked in and thought maybe it's REALLY good. The restaurant itself is nice and has plenty of seating around with two outdoor seating areas. It is a counter service spot, so don't expect any kind of full service. One thing they could work on is giving numbers to tables that way you don't have the servers yelling out names for orders and then there being multiple Ben's at the restaurant. The food itself is alright not best but does the trick. We both ordered the benedict with the house potatoes (which are really good). The benedict itself wasn't too good as the sauce wasn't very flavorful and the fried rice we had ordered was a little cold, almost as if it had been premade and chilling for a while. If you're looking for a quick and cheap bite for brunch, then Kihei Caffe is the spot. read more

We tried a different location of Kihei Caffe this time. When we arrived, the line was super long. We dropped off my husband to stand in line while we parked the car. The line moved surprisingly fast. Greeted by signs saying cash only and a sad face, we paid $55 for mediocre two egg breakfast and coffee. All served up with attitude. We felt every bit the tourist/intruders by the locals working there. I get it, we get bombarded with snowbirds half the year and it often feels intrusive but we aren't rude or disrespectful and here we hope and believe that we are supporting a recovering community. This is not our first trip to Maui nor the first time staying at this end of the island. It is the first time we felt looked down upon while having an okay meal and bad coffee. Unfortunately, this newer Kihei Caffe location doesn't match in the food quality of the original place. My tuna melt was fine but my wife's loco moco lacked flavor in the meat and fried rice. She said afterwards she wished she didn't waste her calories on it. This location is an open air modern style and you order at the counter. Great breakfast place! I love that you order at the register and don't have a server. Drinks were extremely quick and the food came out timely. To find breakfast on Maui for under $100 bucks for four people feels like you're robbing the place. If you're looking for a view of the ocean this isn't it but the dining is outdoors and covered and just on the other side of the road from the beach. Pancakes (the size of your face), bacon and eggs, and my personal favorite ...the LOCO MOCO- rice, hamburger patty, beef gravy, and eggs. Hawaiian classic! The beat became better?! OK they don't have the funk that the old place has. Instead, you've got a significant amount of nice seating, and a lovely view of the ocean. The best part is that it wasn't crowded. We arrived when they opened at 7 AM. There were a handful of people in front of us, but we were served practically immediately. Everything came out super quick. If it looks like it's going to rain, choose a table towards the center because it can blow through there a bit even though it's covered. Although my husband said the rice on his loco moco was a little bit undercooked, I can tell you that my meal was absolute perfection. As expected from Kihei Café!, service was spot on. Great place for breakfast or lunch! This is their new location and you must stop by. Wonderful selection of brekkie dishes and lunch looks just as onolicious! Nice open air dinning too! Service was fast and they have a smooth ordering system so your food comes out not only quickly but hot off the grille. No dishes sit in the warming area at all. I had traditional eggs Benedict and muesli. My friend had a yummy big cinnamon roll and 2 fried eggs and an iced latte. Everything was perfect! We will be back soon and if you haven't tried it yet make sure you do. The line to the ordering server is sometimes long but don't let that stop you. Line goes quickly and their ordering methodology and internal controls work beautifully. Happy eating and bring your entire ohana or friends. They have specialty drinks too! Food: the food was delicious. The eggs Benedict had a great poached egg and the ham and biscuit was also very delicious. The potatoes were cooked just the way I like it crunchy on the outside. Nice and soft on the inside. The French toast was eaten by my niece, and she loved it, she scarfed it down so quick. The kids rice, Vienna, sausage and scrambled egg was a fairly big portion so it was worth the money to purchase. My daughter loved it and we also got to take some home for eating later. Service: right when you walk in the service is great the cashier is very friendly and has a kind smile as you order. The servers are also very nice. Ambiance: the café is very casual. We went during breakfast time and was lucky enough to come in with only a few people in line we didn't really wait too long on our order so that was also a plus. Overall, this place is great we booked the hotel that's right next to the café so it's just a one minute walk over. Stopped in for breakfast around 830 am on a Sunday. The line was out the door but the line moved quickly. There is a menu posted outside the door but once you get in, you'll see a board with daily specials. We planned on ordering the Fresh Corned Beef Hash and Eggs, then changed to the Oyster Rockyfeller Benedict special. Also ordered the traditional Eggs Benedict, Pancakes and Loco Moco. The Oyster in the Rockyfeller Benedict was crunchy and not overdone. The Pancakes were fluffy.  The Loco Moco was big. We were all very happy with our entrees. You order at the door, find your table, pickup your drinks, then servers come  through the dining area calling your name to drop off your food. At the register there are baked goods to choose from. We loved their food especially for breakfast however we find out that due shortage of eggs they are charging an extra fee of per eggs. I have notice the amount of pancakes has been reduced to 2 instead of three pancakes with same price! Lastly the grits which I loved was watery and appreciated if they cooked it like a southerner.
