Corned beef croquettes.

I don't know how I haven't reviewed Kalei's until now. It's now a tradition that after stopping at Target for provisions, we stop at Kalei's before heading to the hotel. Everything we've ordered here has been delicious. My favorites are the chili garlic shrimp (though I don't love the shell on preparation) and the shrimp katsu. I'm also a huge fan of their rice (not gluey and cooked perfectly) and their mac salad. Our most recent trip to Maui got us in during breakfast and I had their corned beef croquettes. Delicious! I highly recommend Kalei's. Their menu has something for everyone, service is A+ with friendly and helpful staff and the food is delicious.

The ala carte teriyaki chicken was a big portion and is delicious. I grabbed that along with the chicken salad. Both were freshly made to order and very tasty. Great and filling dinner. Great customer service. Please come and create your own adventure.

Kalei's is the local spot in Central Maui if you're new to the island and wanting to try some ono Plate lunches or you're a local trying to satisfy your cravings! I treated myself today and got the Mini Ono Ala Kalei with Capers, Tomatoes, Mushrooms in this frothy butter sauce! It's sooo addicting! It's accompanied by a side of rice and instead of the Mac Salad, you can opt for healthier choices like the Side Green Salad with Papaya Dressing or they have their famous Hurricane Brussel Sprouts. If I'm trying to be budget friendly, they have a yummy Saimin which is $6 if you're wanting some comforting broth and noodles or a Weekly Cheap Eats which is $6 and basically a mini lunch plate. Mondays are always my favorite because they have Shoyu Chicken and sometimes Chili with Hot Dog. I heard the cashier say 4 is the Cheap Eats limit or they'll charge more. My friends usually get the Mahi Burger, Chop Steak, and can't go wrong with a Hamburger Steak or Loco Moco. They usually have a selection of pies & breads. Today didn't really have much. Try their Pumpkin crunch, selection of cheesecakes like Blueberry or Strawberry or their Mud Pie. Go for the Banana Bread if you're wanting Bread instead of the Mango. I was pretty disappointed when I got the Mango Bread before, it was a bit more dry and didn't have those mango pieces throughout. Overall, a great spot if you're wanting some local kine grinds. Lunch time can be quite busy but if I ever go between 2-4 pm it's quieter and food is faster. They close late at 8 pm.

Teriyaki Beef with rice and Mac salad.

We looked for a local spot to grab lunch when we landed at the Maui airport and Yelp directed us here! The food was amazing, such a big portion for lunch, it kept us going for the rest of the day and was reasonably priced. Everyone working was very nice and food came out quickly despite the never ending line. I was very happy with my teriyaki beef and every dish comes with a side rice and mac salad.

Delicious food! Spacious place with tons of tables to sit at. Ordered the chicken plate and it came with rice and Mac salad. Staff were super friendly and nice, would come back again the next time I visit

Another spot recommended by a local so I was super excited to try this during my stay in Maui. The Maui Lani location was just a 10 minute drive to our hotel by the airport, making this a convenient spot to pick up some last minute food before heading home. I thought food was good although a bit generic as this place is mostly take out style. Even though we chose to dine in, the food was served in takeout boxes and disposable utensils. There were lots of clean open seating area for those who dined in but It seemed like there were many locals in the store who called ahead or ordered online for pickup, not as many tourists. We ordered the Saimin, hurricane fries, and Da Bento lunchbox. Out of all the items we got, I liked the hurricane furikake fries the best. It was crispy, umami, and full of flavor. The Saimin and bento box were good as well although I wish I ordered more unique items from the menu. If I did go back, I'd also want to try their dessert selection, particularly the pumpkin crunch which was unfortunately sold out by the time I had finished my food at the restaurant :( a great spot for a quick bite or picnic food for on the go

Triple Double $9: two eggs, two bacon, and two pancakes (Chantilly Macnut Pancakes).

I've eaten here many times for lunch and dinner. My first time having their breakfast. Triple Double is a good deal $9: two eggs (any way), two bacon (offered choice of other breakfast meat), and two pancakes. I was curious about the Chantilly Pancakes, which they said can be my two pancakes in the Triple Double! Pancakes fill the 8x8 take out container. They only have regular coffee, but I like coffee any way that it's available. It got very crowded as lunch started with people waiting for our table.

We went for dinner this visit but I was just a lil too late to get the cheap eats they ran out. I got the grilled Ono burger and I was confused cause it looked like a fried egg at a glance. It was a big portion of fish it needed some seasoning but still good and only $11. My husband had nicely well done cheeseburger. Good service and plenty of seating.

Recommended by a local who thought we were locals. This was a little far from where we stayed but it was a nice drive to support a spot less touristy. In an unassuming strip mall, the restaurant was fairly empty for a late lunch. Lots of people came and went to get food to go. We weren't hungry enough to order individual plates, so we shared one bento lunch plate and got sides. Here's our take: - Da Bento Box: mac salad nice and cold, mochi chicken had lots of flavor, shrimp was BIG (came w two), and beef was tender with lots of flavor. Great variety for a plate lunch. - brussel sprouts: loved char and the pork belly bits were nice touch - fried rice: HUGE for the price and had spam! Flavor was on point, a little loose for my liking, but really good value. It took a while for the food, but it seemed like a popular spot for locals to take out. It's worth checking out.

Good food & friendly service. Didn't get to try the desserts as we were on our way to the airport. We will definitely come back to this restaurant next time we are in Maui. A lot of customers seem to be locals & a couple of police officers came to eat there as well. I think that's a good sign.

Was in the mood for some mochico chicken and came here to try it. Got the "Da Bento" which included spam, beef teriyaki, shrimp katsu, and lots of mochico chicken. Also got their Saimin soup. Service was fast and friendly. The food was very good. Da Bento is enough to feed 2 people with some left over. The spam could have been cooked a little more but that's my personal preference. They serve the food to you in compostable containers. That's cool because if you don't eat it all, you already have your to-go container.

IMHO We needed a lunch meet-up place for those of us who had just arrived on the island from the airport. We texted everyone to meet at Kalei's Lunchbox on Maui Lani. Order and pay at the counter, then pick your table. We secured a long table for our party of nine. The restaurant is clean and bright. My family ordered the Triple Double, two pancakes, two eggs, and 2 slices of Portuguese sausage, a Cheeseburger & Fries, Chili Garlic Shrimp w/a side of Hurricane Brussel Sprouts, and either the Big Kahuna or Da Bento. All food is served in take-out boxes, which I think is brilliant. Portions are generous and the prices super affordable! Don't forget to check out their display of pastry delights! I just had to order some Chocolate Bread! Next time, I will order more!!! Get thee to Kalei's Lunchbox! You won't regret it.

Stoped by for lunch after Iao Valley! It was super busy at lunchtime. You can dine in or takeout and eat outside on picnic tables. I ordered the shrimp katsu, it was a good portion and fried perfectly. The Mac salad was super good too!

And a host station seating diners in more comfortable booths and tables to the other side. I think some items are just slightly more expensive in the full service side? Think the Dennys of Hawaii which my great server agreed to when I told her how excited I was to be there. They have great breakfast all day I think, fried chicken, signature chili(like Nalley's canned only more "Zippy" with seasoning) , and plate lunch style offerings. Some people like their baked goods like malasadas and some cream puff types of things. This isn't the best version ever of these foods but a very reliable quality and portion size at very good prices for Hawai'i. Often more locals than us Haole tourists. We ordered the special Korean fried boneless chicken and rice with a scoop of corn and chili with beans for 13.99$ and I got a large Saimin with char su pork fish cake and choy sum. The noodles was very generous and great broth. A little sparse in the pork but a lot of goodies for sure! My wife kept dipping into my broth..... Her combo was good and she could only eat half. Snack for later!! Again not the best ever if these dishes but great friendly service and big portions at a fair price. If they brought one to Seattle I would be there a lot during work days for breakfast or lunch!! I insisted on getting my last meal and last anything again later that week on a Sunday night going to the airport(nearby) and it was backed up with locals waiting to order takeout on one side and sit down in the dining room!

It was okay. The chicken itself is good, flaky, juicy, and tender. The katsu is good for a grab-and-go style fast food option, but the Korean Chicken was alright. The portion itself is pretty generous, but this place is on the pricier side for takeout. Zippy's itself is quite large. There is a lot of seating and a big parking lot, which was nice. Inside was pretty clean, but nothing special. We ordered online, and it was ready quickly. I also got the lilikoi drink, which was really good. If you guys know what Jollibee is, I think that tops this place pretty easily.

Hamburger steak house to the rescue today because they are close by. I had their cheeseburger deluxe again with a 4-piece mandu. I also ordered a mini hamburger steak plate to try and to share later. The burger was delicious again and i love mandu so lunch was really good. The owners are super nice and their restaurant is a hole in the wall but it seems super clean. They are always super busy in the late afternoons and evenings so that's always a good sign. LOCATION: Across from St. Anthonys between the Mona Lisa Salon and Wei Weis.
