Half Roast Duck
Dean L.

Growing up in San Francisco, Honolulu and Sacramento, what was once a monthly celebration of Chinese food shared with family and friends on early weekends, diminished to coffee and croissants after moving to rural Maui. Finally, from recent Yelp posts, I realized that Lemongrass is offering Dim Sum on Maui! It's not a huge dumpling menu, but it has favorites that are worth seeking out. As virtually the only ones at 10:30am Sat we selected a few dim sum dishes and ordered roast duck. Food was delivered quickly and we savored the fresh dumplings. Shrimp, Pork, Chicken Feet, Sticky Rice were expertly seasoned and prepared. Even the extra large Jin Dui Sesame Balls filled with sweet bean paste were fried and served piping hot. A few we hope they'll consider offering are Fried Turnip Cake (Lo Bak Go), Taro Pastry (Wu Gok), Shanghai Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) and perhaps other baked goods like Char Siu Bao or Curry Turnovers. The restaurant quickly filled up and we'll be back more frequently. Hopefully Maui folks and Visitors will discover Lemongrass to enjoy and support their efforts because preparing these little treasures are a labor of love.

The foods we ordered wa perfect! We got the sizzling beef, whole roast duck, and fried rice. The portion was big and our server was so nice to us! The place was quiet and had a lot of space. Although this place is expensive. Everything is expensive now.

The food here is always good & filling. Definitely perfect for family size portions to share. But I do love all the options to cover any of my food cravings too:)

They have had dim sum on the lunch menu daily for almost a month now. IYKYK About the only thing you can't get is baked manapua. All the steamed items like shrimp dumplings, pork hash (siu mai), chicken feet, jasmine sticky rice (joong), steamed manapua, etc. are all on the menu.

Such a good place for large parties! Staff is friendly. Service can be a little slow when busy but they do their best to accommodate all tables. Food is great with a lot of options to choose from.

Dim sum that ends at 3PM daily. Most authentic and best tasting dim sum in Maui. No more having to fly to Oahu to be able to eat dim sum is a +++ My fave combos are A. Shrimp dumpling/har gow with B. Shu mai, & G. Sticky rice in lotus leaf with E. Steamed beef trip. For dessert or breakfast I eat the D. Streamed BBQ pork buns

I've had Mongolian beef at many Asian restaurants as it's one of my go to meals, but the Mongolian beef at Maui Lemongrass is so so so good. Similar favor but so much brighter and complex. We kept stopping during the meal to say this is so good. Staff very friendly and the owner keeping quality perfect and restaurant clean

Salt and pepper shrimp

Loved the duck, salt and pepper shrimp (first bite was ho salty) but it was good and we order crispy chicken and vegetables and shrimp roll. Jindui was good. Kinda pricey but it was good. Service was on it.

Was in Maui for a business trip and we came here for a quick informal lunch. Our server was very friendly and nice and the place was kept very clean. I ordered a beef and tofu. It was a little bit sweet for my taste, but I still ate every last bit. I chose it with the lo mein which is a nice option to have for the plate. The portions were large too! This is a great local place if you're craving some chinese food.

Food was great but we're used to having rice with our Chinese food. Not included! Waitress was friendly.

From our resort villa, we online ordered a large Crispy Pata, $46, and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes! Our Crispy Pata and a box of rice and dipping sauces were ready and waiting for us! It was delicious; fatty, crunchy, and full of flavor! This Crispy Pata lasted us quite a few meals, which we added to saimin, or rice. If you want great local Filipino/Asian fare, come to Joey's Kitchen in Napili. I am sorry that we missed the opening of their new restaurant, Dang Dang Noodles, by a few days. Next visit!

While I adore and often cook a lot of Asian food I'm not such a fan of Filipino food yet around it more than any other food with family. Bad choice. After driving there from Lahaina for lunch, this dish was unavailable?? Even yelpers rave about it! So we ordered the pork belly and wanted chow fun but they only have the chicken variety? So there is a reason why the Asian restaurants we usually dine at make beef chow fun. The chicken version was bland and wanting for something else to complete it! But surely edible and nicely cooked noodles. The pork belly was ok but not slap your momma I'll go back for that good. The Mac salad was awful compared to much more affordable plate lunch places. It was flavorless, overcooked pasta, and a gritty texture! Weirdly the chairs there at the tables are low and you feel like you are at the children's table at Thanksgiving. So much so that us and two other groups including the ones that moved after ordering to our vacated table moved from the regular tables to the ones at the window with a bench on one side. We had fun joking with our replacements about that! So for the most part here it appears to be tourist clientele and not many Filipinos but my wife. I think that these exceptionally high prices for basic dishes and burgers (she asked why would people go to a Filipino restaurant and order a burger) are why not many locals eat here. And frankly most aunties make better Filipino food better at home. Glad we tried but not again. Checked off of our try try list. They didn't even have a signature dish available that we went particularly to get.

Best food truck experience since Burger Boyz down in Kihei!…read more Best REAL BBQ on Maui, hands down, but it's only on Thursdays. It's no secret that when people in Hawaii think "BBQ," it's standard plate lunch fare. The rest of the menu is fantastic, but Thursday's are the truth. So far, I have had their bodacious beef ribs, brisket, and smoked turkey. All were mouth watering and smoked and seasoned to perfection with big portions. The bakery has also not disappointed. My only knock is that a couple times they haven't been open when the schedule said they should. Normally this might turn me off, but there is literally nowhere else on this island to get this kind of barbecue experience.

We have been here 5 days eating poke everyday so it was time to change it up. Being Chinese, I was drawn to the roast pork which I saw being chopped up as well as char siu and joong ( sold out). So, went with the half pound of roast pork and 4 manapuas aka BBQ pork buns. Even before we left the parking lot, I opened up the roast pork and we each took a bite. We both said "wow, it's so tender, juicy and flavorful". Hubby noted the 5 spice powder seasoning as well. When we got back to the room, I opened up the box and started dipping the roast pork in the mustard based sauce. Double yummy! The roast pork in the manapua is tender, perfect sweetness and plentiful. Next time we come to Maui, we are going to check out their shop. Amazing!!!

We made sure to pay a visit on our first free lunch day! Of course, coming during the lunch rush we had to wait for maybe 20 minutes outside before getting a table for 4. Longest 20 minutes of my life LOL! Paid off though when we finally got seated! Ordered the usual suspects: -Dry Noodles (Dry Mein) ($18.95) - DOUBLE sized for 2! Or one Hungry Hawaiian HA! -Cheeseburger Deluxe ($5.95) -French Fries with Mustard/Mayo ($5.95) -BBQ Stick (Beef and Chicken) ($3.75 each) -Manju ($1.25 each) -Turnovers ($1.85 each) I was so hungry I forgot pics of half my order! Shared the Dry Noodles with my Mom but honestly I ate 75% of that double order LOL! Just as awesome as I remember - just needed a dash of the soup, splash of shoyu, dab of Tabasco, and a lot of cracked black pepper! Ugh, so ONO! The Cheeseburger Deluxe and French Fries were honestly not gourmet, but the nostalgia factor brings it up a notch for me. Don't forget to dip into their Mustard/Mayo mix, it's a game changer! The BBQ Sticks were a little overdone this time but I'll let it slide because I do love that char on the edges. And you can't leave without having a manju and turnover (or 2....of each LOL) for dessert! Not much has changed at Sam Sato's over the decades (except maybe the prices, they went up!) and that's the way we like it! Old schoo for an old foo like ME!

So I remember when kings first opened up the food was ok but it did need improvement. Fast forward to now 2025 and the food quality has gotten better from the cheeseburger combo which is one of the best deals and its tasty to other dishes like the honey walnut shrimp and BBQ chicken combo that I ordered the other day. The honey walnut shrimp was just as good if not better than some of the pricier restaurants downtown, and the BBQ chicken was also delicious. You have a lot of options when you go to kings. One thing I find hilarious is that they are Chinese BBQ but one of the best items on the menu is the cheeseburger combo which comes with fries and a drink.for about$12. That's one of the best deals on Maui especially now that the quality has improved.the service is always fast. They have tried to fix up the interior by adding several screens that have the menu on them but I feel like it was just more confusing for some people because the menu is is all over the room so if your not used to it then it's kinda confusing? I feel like the one menu screen would be enough and use the other screens for entertainment or sports. It's also nice that I don't half to drive all the way upcountry? Since I live fairly close to Haiku Center.
