Kids love the sweet and sour pork, shrimp fried rice is a big hit with everyone and my go to is the Szechwan eggplant since I don't eat meat. Makes good left overs too, if it lasts that long. Mom and pop Chinese restaurant. They had an interesting set up where it said that you had to order takeout in order to sit in but there was still confusion when we asked the guy if we could eat there. However, we figured it out and were comfortably seated at one of the large tables with our udon and stirfry quickly brought out. I'm Chinese and this food is gooood. No msg. Not overly flavored. I called ahead to see if I can reserve a table and they were able to accommodate. It was just 1 cook and 1 server but everything was pretty fast. This isn't a regular sit down restaurant with waiters. You order at the window and then take it to go or find a spot in their outdoor patio. Everything is in takeout containers. I knew that ahead of time and wasn't expecting any service and it exceeded expectations. Came here in 2017 when staying at timeshares nearby. Only those living nearby would even know of this place, as not near a shopping center and not visible from the main highway. We have been staying in timeshares in Kihei lately, and that's 70 miles round trip from China Boat, with dozens of restaurants in Kihei, but none Chinese. Came here to visit the Kapalua trail and Dragon's teeth in north Maui. Would have snorkeled at Kapalua Bay, but would have needed to get there by 8am to get parking. And China Boat doesn't open until 1130am. Drove here at 1pm for the luncheon specials served 1130 to 2pm Monday-Saturday. They come with white rice and cream cheese wonton. $2 extra for substituting fried rice with the white rice. In 2017 had the Mongolian beef, three kung pao selection, eggplant, and Singapore noodles. Everything comes in sturdy composite paper take out containers, material similar to egg cartons. There are six tables in a covered outdoor patio where you can eat. We ordered three Mango ice teas, just the thing for 80 degree days in January. Wife's sister's $15.50 sesame chicken was deep fried and breaded in a sweet juice over a bed of shredded lettuce, covered with sesame seeds. Good presentation and tasty, not too greasy. Wife's $14.50 Szechwan hot garlic chicken was marred by the strong metallic taste of canned bamboo shoots, which can be eliminated by boiling the bamboo in water for 3 minutes. Dish came with onions, bell peppers, squash and chicken. My $14.50 Kung pao chicken came with a ton of onions and peanuts. Not as spicy hot as I would like, but excellent never the less. Would order again. It was either eat here or 7 miles down the road at Panda Express on Keawe Rd where the Lahaina by pass loop starts, and burned out area of Lahaina begins. It's a very casual place. Food served in to go containers and eaten on paper plates. But don't let that fool you. The food is yummy. They conveniently offer take out and delivery. We dined in the patio at the restaurant since they do not have indoor dining. We didn't know what to expect, but we were really in the mood for chinese food. We ordered the sauted green beans, beef and broccoli, Szechuan spicy chicken and the house special chow mein. It was all delicious. The photo doesn't justify the nice portions of food since we all had a serving from the dishes before I snapped a photo. The food was great and fresh and piping hot. ChinaBoat Restaurant is so underrated. We came across it after we got shoo'd away from MisoPhat because of the outrageous wait. The food is absolutely delicious, I'm not a big Chinese food gal, my fiancé is, and we both fell in love. We're huge foodies from LA, as obnoxious as that sounds, and could not stop thinking about this spot after the first time we tried it. We've ordered from here 3 times so far in our 9-day stay at Maui. We sat there once and did take-out twice... so far. I love love love the Mongolian Beef, it's so flavorful and perfect texture, I also love the onions added to it. The orange peel chicken is delicious and not dry at all (this is my experience with orange chicken usually). The Passionfruit Iced Tea is a must. Everything else is also just very good. The service is great, the women who work there are kind. The ambiance, if you sit in the patio, is very casual but perfect for the fit of it all. This restaurant is across the street from our AirBnB at Kahana Reef. Honestly, I thought it was an abandoned building from the front. It is not and the food is amazing. They have no table service. You can take your to go order and eat at one of the 5 outside tables. I had Mongolian Beef which was so good. The beef was remarkably tender. Hubs had the seafood chow mein. Maui does not have very many Chinese restaurants so maybe I'm grading on a curve just a little, but regardless if we're in the mood for legit Chinese we might actually at times drive over an hour from upcountry to the upper westside just to get our fix. China Boat gives that true "woks kiss" flavor and we've yet to be disappointed from any of the food we've tried so far. You can call in your order too to save some time if you like, but if I'm not mistaken it's pretty much all takeout with a few tables on the outside area. Great food for a good value, especially when it comes to Maui prices. This was my second time having food from here and enjoyed it! A couple things to note: 1. Only take out currently. If you are wanting to eat here, there are a few tables outside the front of the restaurant, but just plan to take it. 2. I would highly recommend you call in your order ahead of time. When it is slow, it will still take you about 20 minutes to get your food. They are a small family operation, so be patient 3. Make sure you check ahead of time when it comes to what they still have available compared to the menu. 11/30/2022: Last year-June 2021, I passed by China Boat a couple of times; however, I was so busy, I didn't have the opportunity ordering food. This year-spending time at my Maui Condo, I made a point visiting China Boat. I spoke to the younger lady ordering my dinner to go; however, she didn't order Wor Won Ton Soup after I specifically requested ordering Wor Won Ton Soup. Unfortunately, after I brought the dinner to my condo, the Curry Shrimp, Wor Won Ton Soup, and Steamed White Rice: All tasted BLAND. The Curry Shrimp: I didn't taste curry in the shrimp dish while the Wor Won Ton was not flavorful while the steamed rice was HARD! Preface: I had to season the Curry Shrimp as well as season the Wor Won Ton soup in order, making both taste half-way decent. Aside, I requested Char Siu, Bok Choy, and seafood such as octopus, squid, clams but, China Boat used a couple of minuscule leaves of boiled cabbage, two pieces of minute, slivered chicken, a couple of shrimp, a couple of Won Tons, and one old Char Siu, i.e., reminiscent of a pseudo baby rattle! Please keep in mind I have visited Hong Kong, Kowloon, Macau, Mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Philippines plus, LONDON UK's DRAGON HOUSE RESTAURANT (Family-Owned Restaurant From Shanghai) eating exactly what I ordered from China Boat: ALL countries uses plenty of twice-roasted Char Siu, Bok Choy, and seafood such as octopus, squid, clams, prawns with the Wor Won Ton recipe. Sadly, China Boat's recipe severely lacked the ingredients mentioned above and more importantly, China Boat's Wor Won Ton soup recipe egregiously was missing the flavorful broth I've inhaled visiting the countries mentioned above. What a great Chinese restaurant located in Kahana. This is in a neighborhood and was a great find during our stay in Maui. They don't have dine in service and do take out only and they have a patio available with a couple of tables. You can call ahead and place your order and then they will provide an estimated time of when your food will be ready for pick up. We ordered food for 6 people and the order included: pot stickers, mixed vegetables, sautéed green beans, chow mien, fried rice, shrimp chow mien, and sweet and sour chicken. My parents and I came here for lunch yesterday. The food is really good. The seafood tofu soup is excellent. We also had the hot & sour soup and tgat was good. The fried rice and the seafood chow mein were very tasty. The are only doing take-out, but have five family size tables in a covered patio facing the front of the road. We stayed and ate in the outdoor patio. It was a typical Chinese restaurant setting and adds to the experience. Grace is very nice and attentive. The price is very reasonable. Nice Chinese food, especially for Maui. I am giving them 5 stars especially because their sautéed green beans were the best I have ever had and that's one of my favorite dishes so I have ordered it many places. We tried orange peel chicken. The box had no vent so it was not crunchy by the time we got it home. It's unfortunate that they don't allow dine in eating anymore because the interior used to look so nice and the food would definitely be much better hot and freshest. We also got "potstickers", which were actually *deep fried* dumplings, not pan fried pot stickers in the traditional sense. My husband had lots to say about the word "pot sticker" being used on the menu, lol, so be forewarned. We also tried the house fried rice but I found the chunks of meat to be very unpleasant and hard and chewy. Service for pick up was not super friendly to us but was very friendly to the other people so not sure what that was about but we did not take it personally. They had everything boxed up nicely and we appreciated it! We would order from them again if I was in the mood for Chinese, for sure! read more

We have been in Maui for a year now and have been searching for good Chinese food, it seems like an easy task but no, we have searched and searched... and we have finally found it! This is the best gem of a restaurant.. not only the service but the food was incredible. If you are craving good quality food, you won't be disappointed. Here is what we ordered: Moo shu pork Sweet and sour chicken Cashew nut chicken Pot stickers Cream cheese wontons. White rice.... On the mainland, I have never had chicken be all white without ordering all white, the sweat and sour chicken were large pieces and all white chicken The moo shu was well balanced and the wraps were perfect The wontons... amazing Potstickers- delish! The cashew chicken had everything so fresh, so well cooked and large pieces of chicken, I didn't have to guess what meat it was as it was all white meat. The service was great, they gave us the option of the patio or take home and we brought our food bad to the condo and so happy we did... we could eat like pigs and no one could judge us. They accidentally forgot the wraps, so when I called to tell them I was coming back for them, they were so apologetic, so willing to help, it made it so worth making the trip. I will eat here again and I will be adding this menu to all of my guests choices of meals when they visit. It is a little hidden but sooooo worth it! read more

We arrived and actually Chinese wasn't on the menu for me during this trip, but it seemingly was for my partner. We were promptly greeted and treated with much kindness. We grabbed a table quickly and enjoyed looking through the menu while sipping hot tea. The decor is a little outdated, but we've realized much of the island seems to live in the w 80's and that's okay--I care about the food, not the decorations. We look forward to coming here whenever we're on the Westside of Maui. It's our favorite Chinese restaurant on the island! Due to Covid restrictions they are only doing take out right now. But there is a covered patio where you can sit down and eat your takeout order. There is one 2-person, two 4-person, and two 7-person tables in the patio area. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Today we got the fried pork wontons, shrimp fried rice, moo-shoo pork, and crispy duck. Everything was delicious as usual. We were surprised how big the shrimp in the fried rice was. We were so excited to eat that we forgot to take pictures of the food. We'll be back again for sure! read more

So we Yelped for a Chinese Food restaurant. We are ever so Lucky that it just happens to be RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET (almost) from our Air B&B Condo! They have four stars - so let's go! We went over to find that due to COVID Labor shortages on the island they can't keep the restaurant itself open. They have five tables on the patio where you can eat - food is served in carry-out boxes and beverages served in bottles. The rest is order in person, by phone or on-line and take it home with you. They do a very good business with plenty of folks waiting to pick up their order. So that night we found other means of satisfying our hunger. A couple nights later went walked over to get take out so we could enjoy our meal with some wine on our balcony overlooking the ocean and Molokai. We got the Kung Pao Chicken, Vegetable Chow Mein, Vegetable Egg Rolls, and Fried Prawns. The Kung Pao was delicious. The vegetables were hot and, perfectly cooked and flavorful. The chicken tasted like bouncy chicken and seemed to be high quality. The spice level was perfect as well. Vegetable chow main was very good. I love the big fat noodles and vegetables were crispy and tasty. The egg rolls were some of the best I've had. There food was great. The view was superb - but we ate on the balcony of our condo. The hot and sour soup is amazing! One of the best I've every had. Everything else was really good. I had the veggie fried rice (loaded with fresh vegetables) cream cheese wontons, and the Egg foo young. My only complaint was the coconut pineapple shrimp. It's was overly sugary sweet and I like sweet. It reminded me of a dessert. What I can say is the batter was crispy and the shrimp were huge but the sugar was overwhelming. I was also bummed that they don't serve rice with any entrees. You have to buy a side a rice. For the price, I would hope that white rice would be included. I woke up thinking about the soup. You would be remiss to dismiss your meal on a gem like this! You've got the wonderful Grace running the shop with her quick and efficient staff. The dining area is eclectic and gives me the vibes of a k drama where there's just a uniqueness to it that you can't find with main stream restaurants. The food was amazing, authentic wok cooked meals for our orders. Unlike a few places that we've gone to, the service and the food was crazy fast, crazy good. Grace and her husband Kai have set up the restaurant very efficiently where you phone orders and you have 5 tables at the restaurant. The place is SO good that for our four nights here in Maui, we HAD to go again!! We ordered the Mongolian beef, cashew chicken, DELICIOUS crispy wontons, and the mapo tofu and the braised tofu with mushrooms. Found this quaint Chinese restaurant when we were vacationing in Maui. The food here is excellent and the service was so homey. The owner was very attentive to our needs as well as everyone else seated at the restaurant. You can tell she really cares about each customer and takes the time to make sure you have just what you need to enjoy a good meal.
