Casual and authentic! A Saigon Cafe is a local spot that keeps to its Vietnamese roots. The food is cooked with less salt, so definitely pair to taste! Taste: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Value for money: 3.5/5 The go to dish tasted well: Brisket Pho special! The other dish which was a hor fun like noodle dish was okay!

This restaurant fulfilled our craving. Everything we ordered was enjoyed by all. We called in advance for fresh steamed fish. The restaurant served us a whole opakapaka. The owner/server had a sense of humor as he took our order. Pleasantly made us feel welcome. The restaurantis next to a motel and parking was somewhat sparce. Inside was very spacious, including a full bar. The location is out of the way from any resort but we'll worth the drive.

Another one of our favorite restaurants on Maui. It's casual dining and they have indoor and outdoor seating available. Some of our go to is the Sautéed Shrimps, Crispy Chicken (Family Style) and Chef Long's Bok Choy. I like to have Thai Ice Tea with my meal. Good friendly service. Charlie works on Sundays who makes dining entertaining with his jokes. Must go when you're on the island.

What a great place to celebrate my birthday! One of my favorite places in Maui for pho. Services spot on and they always try to remember your name. Nice touch. I will always go there.

#40, beef and pork vermicelli bowl. Pretty good!

I had the #40, Shredded Pork & Grilled Beef vermicelli bowl. I thought it was quite good and the bowl was quite full (and filling). There was no skimping of the meat here and I actually couldn't finish it all. We've eaten here several times on past trips and never have been disappointed. The owner/manager comes around and he's always a bit of a jokester but he's always also right on top of things too!

    Straight steak Pho. Delicious.

Papaya salad here is still great - just a wonderful flavor profile. Duck noodle soup was also good - huge duck leg. The pho broth was not our fave - not as complex a flavor as we've had elsewhere and was a bit too sweet. It had a generous portion of the meat though. We got the combo and there was lots of each.

Well, I was feeling Vietnamese food and was introduced to this very well established establishment. The food was delicious and well served. Customer service went far and beyond..even after I didn't receive my shrimp for my vermicelli bowl(but it came). And the ambiance was splendid. Great location with easy parking. Indoor and outdoor sitting..at the end of it all. I was plump and fulfilled. Great place to try when in Maui. I will be back.. Thank you-A Saigon Cafe!!!

Tofu curry lemongrass... It's just tofu coated in curry... No Sauce...

Came here before and the food was awesome. Came here a few years later and what a difference. In the bad way. Clay pot was just warm soup, the sauce wasn't caramelized. The mushrooms were still raw! Same for tofu curry, they didn't even cook it long enough to make the tofu hot! And the onions were raw, it actually hurt to eat it. I hope their old cook was just out for the day. Ambiance is old diner style but clean. Seats are harder than they look. Service was fast tho. I am ok with the quick and gruff Asian service but my partner did not like it one bit. Took the menus away while we were still looking at the drinks after we ordered the food. I was like cool, now I don't need to spend $9 on Thai tea. The parking is in the same lot as an apartment? So be careful and make sure to park on the restaurant side by the dumpster. Yep.

Wherever I travel, finding a local pho joint is always a must, it's a staple in my diet! While visiting Maui, I noticed there aren't too many pho spots around, so I had to check this one out while in the area. Combination Pho: My go-to order. I'd rate it a 7.5/10. The broth had a darker color but, unfortunately, didn't pack the flavor I was hoping for. Missing that rich aroma and depth you usually expect from a solid bowl of pho. Seasoning was just okay. On the plus side, the noodles to meat ratio was pretty decent, and once you add your sauces, it's had an ok bite. Spring Rolls: These were big and visually appealing, 8/10. The filling was a little on the mushy side with a heavy vermicelli base, but the dipping sauce helped balance it out. Not bad at all. Grilled Pork Chop: Now this was the winner of the meal, 9/10! Super tender with a delicious smoky char. Came with rice and veggies, making it a well rounded and flavorful dish. Would definitely order this again. Overall Take: The food was decent, not mind blowing, but there were some hits. The grilled pork chop stood out, and the pho just needed a little more love in the broth. On the bright side, our server was friendly, funny, and made the experience even better. Would I come back? Hmmm, maybe for that pork chop.

    Naokee's Steak
    Traci F.

This is our go to place for good Vietnamese food. This place is located in the former Naokee's Restaurant location. There is usually plenty of parking available either in their lot or on the street. They have an extensive menu and everything is so good! I usually order the Vermicelli noodles with spring rolls and grilled beef. But today I tried the Naokee's Steak. It's served sliced and sizzling on a hot iron platter with sautéed vegetables and a bowl of rice. The server showed me how to pour the sauce from the vegetables onto the sizzling platter for extra flavor. It was AMAZING! The steak was tender and grilled perfectly. The added sauce not only made it more flavorful but also made it so juicy. The steak is one pound so I ended up sharing my meal since I couldn't finish it all myself. One word of caution- you will end up leaving with a lingering scent of the steak.

    Spring rolls, absolutely delicious

I ordered a Mango Boba drink which reminded me of Guri Guri to be honest. (If you're visiting Maui and haven't had Guri Guri, go get yourself some asap!) I loved it. I usually get Honeydew but Mango was just as good! The Chicken Pho was delicious! They gave me a couple slices of jalapeños, bean sprouts, a small lemon wedge and a lot of Thai basil. I loved that yummy comforting broth with slices of white onions, green onions and shredded chicken. Perfect for Maui "winter weather" which is usually 60's-70's lol. If you're looking for a yummy Bahn Mi, I recommend the Chicken (or Tofu) Lemongrass sandwich on Crispy French bread or the Vermicelli noodles with Pork and Imperial Rolls. I've also had their Garlic Shrimp plate and BBQ chicken in times past with Salad and is also very tasty.

It is in with other businesses and may be confusing to find. We didn't see it when we turned left and parked further down. We were walking around other businesses but eventually found it. Do it! because it is well worth it. If you are looking for some true, basic, local, comfort food, this is a spot. We had the loco moco, corned beef hash loco moco, and the beef stew loco moco. All tasted sooo good and comforting. Loco moco beef patty was tender, moist and cooked properly. Had that earthy beef taste from the seasonings or was that just the natural flavor of the beef? Corned beef hash loco moco had that lightly grilled exterior with moist interior. Not too salty. I could taste the corned beef. So good! Beef stew loco. Wow! Never had that combo. Beef was tender, veg was plentiful. Excellent beef stew! We upgraded from white rice to their fried rice and were glad we did. Their fried rice is cooked with bacon and bits of their roast park and other meats. So flavorful! This place is known for its multiple loco moco flavors / combinations. Definite must try when you are here. Service was local, funny, and kind.

The roast duck was really good actually. The general tsao's chicken and chicken lettuce was good, I've definitely been to other spots that were better but I don't have anything bad to say about it. What I really disliked about this place was the Seafood Bird's Nest. Initially, they thought I ordered a Seafood Delight, but my order was missing the noodles. But they basically just fried up some noodles real quick and threw it under. And that part wouldn't have been a problem for me, but it was honestly waaaay too salty (and I like really salty! so that says a lot to me) It was difficult to eat to be honest, but I of course didn't want to waste it. The seafood included 3 pieces of shrimp, about a stick of imitation crab meat, a couple small pieces of scallop, and A LOT of calamari pieces that were soooo tough to chew, we couldn't even really eat them! For the chicken lettuce, they gave us about 3 full pieces of lettuce that was cut up and then charged us $4.00 for more pieces of lettuce which is pretty pricey lol. The siu mai was mid.. but you get what you pay for. There was also a 3% additional kitchen surcharge which was weird...? Still not sure what that was for lol. And then on top of that there's another 3% charge if you use credit card, so just be aware of that. The service was fine, because there was basically no one else in the restaurant anyway. Also - my boyfriend told me they had no soap in the restroom at all which was inconvenient. Overall, the price of their food does not make sense for the level of quality. I wouldn't recommend to my peers to come here, except maybe just grab their roast duck to go.

We decided to try and save money an purchase the lunch specials which run $19-$22 dollars each. I ordered the Sweet and sour, spicy chicken with the side of fried rice. The chicken was heavily breaded but the sauce was nice. The fried rice was a dark brown mixture that didn't look like any rice I've had before. My companion ordered the curry chicken with vegetables with her side of chow mein. The curry was ok and so was the chicken but the Bell pepper needed to be cooked a little longer. The chow mein noodles were more like spaghetti noodles with seasoning. The restaurant doors were wide open and the fans were spinning and the air conditioning was turned off. I wanted to give this place a good review as I selected the place based on existing Yelp reviews but sorry can't do it. I forgot to mention that they charged a 3% fee for the kitchen AND if you use a credit card another 3% on top of the previous subtotal. Nope. Not a repeat in the future for me

ATMOSPHERE: No renovations have been done sans for the menu board.  The air conditioning was either broken or off as it was very warm inside, yet a few brave souls ate in.  Seating is quite plentiful. MENU: Chinese-inspired hot foods line, pho, saimin, dry noodle dishes, local plate lunches, rice dishes, pork, chicken, burgers, catering.  Ramen is no longer offered. FOOD: Crispy Cake Noodles with Seafood - $12.99 I absolutely love cake noodles so I had to try it. Maui's other "Chinese" eateries all make subpar cake noodle dishes so I wasn't expecting much. I've found the best version on the rock, and it was really, really good.  Say what?!  Yes!  The cake noodles were real cake noodles; crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.  And, the amount of noodles was obscene!  Literally enough for three servings.  It can't be only about the noodles as the gravy is just as important, and they rocked it! Savory, tasty and chock full of shrimp, zucchini, broccoli, won bok, carrots and mushrooms.  The only downfall were the calamari that were rubbery. I normally wouldn't pour all the gravy onto all the noodles but I did it for you, my fellow Yelpers as I wanted that voilà shot.  You're welcome, lol.  Next time, it'll be rationed in order to keep the noodles' crunchy texture. SERVICE: Counter service was friendly and food delivery was super quick, about 5 minutes. OVERALL: The cake noodles knocked me off of my feet.  I'm totally jubilant that they've made a comeback after their first failed attempt.  Keep it up and that rating might go up one more star!
