    Black garlic ramen

This was a good quick stop after landing on Maui if you need something to fill your stomach after a long flight. It's a short drive from the airport, and the service is fast. The food is good when you have had only peanuts and oreo cookies, but I am not sure if I would head here during the week.

Hungry for some ramen? This place serves good food that is ready fast and filling. There is a variety of options to choose from. We like to get the mini ramen with a choice of 1 or 2 side dishes. The service is also fast and helpful. It is small but has many seatings available indoors. It's located close to Target in Kahului and very convenient with lots of parking available.

it's a great spot in Kihei in a perfect location. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Most of the reviews love this restaurant and that's great. My opinion is based on the broths. We had four different soup types and they were all good and hit the spot, but didn't have particularly spectacular taste. And it wasn't piping hot. I can see why it may be popular though. I like they have such a wide variety of broth types, ranging from Tonkotsu to Curry to Black Garlic to Won Ton. Which you can get in either ramen or udon. And they have even more dishes like rice plates and tempura and even more. But maybe I'm used to restaurants that focus their attention and expertise on fewer dishes. Service was fine. We were only one of two parties during dinner. I like the place was huge and spacious. No cramped feeling at all.

If you've taken a look through our page (pretentious to say, we know) then you know we eat A LOT of ramen. We wanted to try out what Hawaii has to offer so we stopped by Ramen Bones to see what they got. Parking is available so getting to the restaurant isn't difficult at all, the inside of the restaurant is also clean and service is good. The menu is solid with multiple ramen offerings and appetizers though I will say the price for the food here is a bit higher than I've seen at places on the mainland. For food we ordered tonkotsu and spicy shoyu ramens. From the first sip the broth was delicious, very flavorful and not thick with fat like some other places. The noodles were chewy and just the right texture. The chasu was good, not the best, but good. The biggest miss was the egg. The egg here is just a regular hard boiled egg, not ajitama which threw us off a bit. Beyond that the rest of the toppings were good. Overall, the food was pretty good for what we initially went in expecting. If you like ramen and you're in the area this may be the spot for you.

The Unadon was sooo good, perfectly grilled and flavorful, with just the right amount of sauce. The chicken fried noodles were a total hit with the kiddos, super tasty and not too heavy, which was perfect. Only thing I didn't love was the mini curry plate. It wasn't bad, just not my favorite, the flavor felt a little flat compared to everything else. Overall, still one of our go-to spots for a family meal. Great portions, and a solid variety of options!

Small restaurant, tons of parking. Got the Tan Tan, broth was too mild for my taste as I prefer a richer broth, included 1 piece of fatty char siu. The noodles were al dente, just the way I like it. Enjoyed the gyoza, delicious filling, great with the gyoza sauce left on the table with a lot of other sauces. Perfect comfort food which was needed during my hectic trip to Maui. Fast friendly service, food served piping hot.

I was on my way to Walmart to stock up for some snacks when I needed a quick easy dinner. Tucked away by the Home Depot, this little restaurant turned out to be a good choice. Very understated, many empty seats when we arrived around 6:30 pm on a Friday night. The ambiance was clean and casual. I had the Tonkotsu ramen and my husband had the chicken katsu curry. Service was friendly and efficient. When the food arrived, we were surprised by the portion size. Both dishes were tasty. I've been on Maui for the last 5 days, and I would have to say that this meal was the most bang for the buck. Made me wonder whether this was indeed a spot for locals?

Was excited to try this place out. Flew in and went straight here as we were starving. A quick drive from the airport. The restaurant was busy. The food portion was great and was very tasty. They were tentative and filled up our water often. Everything was amazing but if you're eating there double check their plates for cleanliness.

Humongous portions! Great value! Fried rice is very tasty. This place is a little small but that's ok because the food makes up for it. Definitely coming back.

We had dinner here on a Sunday night it was around 7pm and most places on Maui are closed down at this time. So we decided to come here and we're so glad we got to try this place out. We walked in and told the wait would be about 5-10 minutes long. She no problem so we decided to wait outside. They have a few chairs and a couple of benches which you can wait on. So we walked in and the place was really busy that's a good thing. We decided on choosing chicken Katsu, kim Chee Fried Rice and shrimp Tempura. Decided taste really good. The fried rice had a good kick to it out was to spicy for me. My niece chose the takoyaki and she enjoyed it. She ate it all by herself. The ambiance is it's really crowded in a small space. But the virus really do with very well and fast. They all work together. Oh and they have canned Pepsi products! That's a no for me! Bring in Coke products please! But we'll come back here again! We really enjoyed their food. The food came out really fast.

I came here for lunch today for my first time and I really enjoyed it . Great food , options and good prices . Their lemon iced tea is the best iced tea I have ever had I give them 5 stars . I will be coming back with my husband and son

Our daughter and her friends used to eat here when she was in high school. We decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised that prices were reasonable compared to elsewhere. There is ample parking in the Hookele Shopping Center lot. They serve ramen, curry, katsu, and other side dishes. There is usually a wait to get in, but they are quick at serving and delivering your food. The employees work hard to keep the food coming and the tables clean. I recommend this place for families, couples, or a small group friends.

The staff were friendly, fast and attentive, which always helps elevate the meal. Their signature tonkotsu broth is rich, creamy, and packed with umami -- you can tell it's been simmered with care. Hubs ordered the White Ramen and it was perfectly balanced with tender chashu, a soft-boiled egg, and fresh greens -- all the ramen classics done right. The Black Ramen with burnt garlic oil was another standout, bold and flavorful without being overwhelming. We also sampled the toro-taku maki (fresh), then the takoyaki and karaage off the happy hour menu-- both crispy and well-seasoned -- and might i say-- it was great to have a Happy Hour menu with tasty bites to start. Atmosphere was casual and fun without being loud. Great spot for lunch or dinner -- locals and visitors coming and going. This place has satisfying portions and solid prices compared to other island eats. Overall, this is one of the best ramen experiences on Maui -- perfect for when you want comforting Japanese cuisine that hits all the right notes. Will definitely be back next visit!

We made sure to pay a visit on our first free lunch day! Of course, coming during the lunch rush we had to wait for maybe 20 minutes outside before getting a table for 4. Longest 20 minutes of my life LOL! Paid off though when we finally got seated! Ordered the usual suspects: -Dry Noodles (Dry Mein) ($18.95) - DOUBLE sized for 2! Or one Hungry Hawaiian HA! -Cheeseburger Deluxe ($5.95) -French Fries with Mustard/Mayo ($5.95) -BBQ Stick (Beef and Chicken) ($3.75 each) -Manju ($1.25 each) -Turnovers ($1.85 each) I was so hungry I forgot pics of half my order! Shared the Dry Noodles with my Mom but honestly I ate 75% of that double order LOL! Just as awesome as I remember - just needed a dash of the soup, splash of shoyu, dab of Tabasco, and a lot of cracked black pepper! Ugh, so ONO! The Cheeseburger Deluxe and French Fries were honestly not gourmet, but the nostalgia factor brings it up a notch for me. Don't forget to dip into their Mustard/Mayo mix, it's a game changer! The BBQ Sticks were a little overdone this time but I'll let it slide because I do love that char on the edges. And you can't leave without having a manju and turnover (or 2....of each LOL) for dessert! Not much has changed at Sam Sato's over the decades (except maybe the prices, they went up!) and that's the way we like it! Old schoo for an old foo like ME!

While I adore and often cook a lot of Asian food I'm not such a fan of Filipino food yet around it more than any other food with family. Bad choice. After driving there from Lahaina for lunch, this dish was unavailable?? Even yelpers rave about it! So we ordered the pork belly and wanted chow fun but they only have the chicken variety? So there is a reason why the Asian restaurants we usually dine at make beef chow fun. The chicken version was bland and wanting for something else to complete it! But surely edible and nicely cooked noodles. The pork belly was ok but not slap your momma I'll go back for that good. The Mac salad was awful compared to much more affordable plate lunch places. It was flavorless, overcooked pasta, and a gritty texture! Weirdly the chairs there at the tables are low and you feel like you are at the children's table at Thanksgiving. So much so that us and two other groups including the ones that moved after ordering to our vacated table moved from the regular tables to the ones at the window with a bench on one side. We had fun joking with our replacements about that! So for the most part here it appears to be tourist clientele and not many Filipinos but my wife. I think that these exceptionally high prices for basic dishes and burgers (she asked why would people go to a Filipino restaurant and order a burger) are why not many locals eat here. And frankly most aunties make better Filipino food better at home. Glad we tried but not again. Checked off of our try try list.
