Hey, so go to the other Miso Phat locations (Kihei). This one is no good. In fact, it's only related to the other two locations by name and some of the dish names they share. The server was horrible. Took him a long time to get us seated when there were maybe 4 people in the 'restaurant'. He thought he was funny with weird snide remarks. At the end of the meal, he gave our check to another table after I had paid. The food itself was not good. Too salty and didn't even come close to the flavors of the other Miso Phat locations. Do yourself a favor and head to the REAL Miso Phat restaurants. It'll be a drive coming from Lahaina, but it's so worth it. read more

Came here for dinner looking a sushi spot outside our resort. Guess we got lucky since it was relatively early for dinner, but we were able to walk in and within 10 min were seated. Quality of the fish is really good. Very fresh. Got the TNT Roll, Local Sashimi, and Uni Nigiri. The TNT Roll was fresh, although this roll was featured on DDD, it wasn't very special or memorable. Local Sashimi combo was really good, consisted of tuna, marlin, and rainbow runner. Uni nigiri was amazing, which we would expect since they sourced it from Japan. Overall, a decent sushi experience. While the sushi was great quality, just a couple hiccups in service. Our order got placed onto the wrong table, so it got delivered to the another table. Luckily the family ended up not touching it, but didn't realize it was theirs until the duplicate roll got delivered to their table. So another server brought it back to the sushi bar till they figured it out and finally brought it to us. *Update - We ended up eating here three times on vacation! - Helpful for celiac and gluten! Had a great experience here for dinner twice and lunch. Many items are listed as gluten free. I explained I had celiac disease and the very knowledgeable server let me know they try their best but they cannot guarantee cross contamination in such a small kitchen. My rolls were brought out on a separate plate. We had two different servers, Alex and Brazil who knew about celiac, the restrictions and how they can accommodate. I had the rainbow roll and they swapped fake crab for real crab for a small up-charge. I also had the spicy scallop hand roll and it was delicious. They allow you to byob so we went to the liquor store next door to buy sake and they also had GF beer from Belgium. Highly recommend this location! Wow. The portions here are indeed PHAT. We sat at the counter and ordered two rolls and a sushi combo set B. Looking back, one roll and one set would've been way more than enough for two people. Really disappointing experience, especially when it came to customer service. I called several times trying to place an order and no one answered, so I eventually walked over to order in person. Once I arrived, I waited nearly 15 minutes just to be helped. When I asked about ordering, instead of simply acknowledging the wait or apologizing, I was rudely told that I needed to "be patient" because they had just opened and had to help the seated customers first. I completely understand being busy or short-staffed, but that doesn't excuse poor customer service. A simple acknowledgment like, "We'll be with you as soon as we can," would have been perfectly fine. Instead, I was made to feel like an inconvenience for simply trying to place an order after already calling several times with no answer. Being under stress or busy is understandable, but responding to customers with rudeness is not. This is one of those places I'm a little reluctant to let others know about because it is so good and waits for a table can be quite long. But, oh my god this is the most amazing sushi! We totally lucked out and got seated right away because a bunch of people had bailed on the wait list - their loss! Many tasty sushi and sashimi options. Simple and delicious really simple ms up Miso Phat. The menu is an easy read, especially if you sit at the sushi bar you can take a peak at the fresh rolls as they are being made. We took suggestions from our server, the TNA roll and spicy salmon were incredible. The fish was so fresh it melted in your mouth. We also opted for a side of poke which was dressed perfectly. Came to Miso Phat Sushi twice during our stay in Maui - that's how good it was. Service was quick both times, with food hitting the table within 10-15 minutes. We ordered the TNT Roll, which had large, fresh chunks of ahi paired with crispy shrimp tempura. The texture contrast was perfect, buttery and fresh with that satisfying crunch. The TNA Roll was another standout. The salmon melted in your mouth and the scallops were super fresh. Such an amazing cooked roll option if you want something indulgent but not fully raw. The Miso Butterfish was everyone's absolute favorite. Rich, buttery, and so tender it practically dissolved with each bite. We had a great experience at the Miso Phat Sushi on December 3rd around 8:15 PM. The staff was super friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in, which made the whole experience even better. The restaurant is clean, cozy, and has a great vibe for dining in. We tried a few of their Chef Specials, along with the Hamachi Nigiri, the Hamachi Kama, and the TNT Roll. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The Hamachi Kama was cooked perfectly--crispy on the outside and tender inside--while the Hamachi Nigiri had that melt-in-your-mouth quality you hope for. The TNT Roll had generous portions and amazing flavor, and the Miso Soup was the perfect warm start to the meal. For Maui, the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. This place was recommended to us by close friends (I think they visited 3 years ago) and they said they came back couple of times since they loved it so much. The wait is a lot which I understand since they have limited seating but once we were seated we waited another 40 minutes for only to get miso soup and edamame - sushi arrived quickly after though. I would also wait again if it was up to its hype. There is serious fruit fly infestation (not couple flies they are everywhere including the washroom which is just near the corner and the door is always open) and no one seems to be bothered which was kinda freaking me out. We brought our own alcohol but they dont have enough glasses and dont even put an effort at least to seem helpful - they gave us the last two wine glasses they had and they were gross; thats when I went to the washroom to wash them and spent couple minutes with flies there. So I would love to wait when the food is top notch and the service - environment accompanies but eating in a dirty room for what seems like huge medallions of sushi is not something I look forward to go back to. In Hawaii, Miso Phat Lahaina is my go-to sushi spot. It's another one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the country (I only have two favs). I really suggest getting a reservation for this place, it's not that big and it's always busy at any time of day. The staff from the sushi chefs to management are so friendly and wonderful. The selections available are plenty and the plates are just wow! I really love their Chirashi Bowls (sorry no photo) but anything you chose here is always an A+. Can I just remind you that their service is fantastic? The setting is very lively here. The staff but on a show by just doing their job. It's fun to watch the chefs make your food when you're sitting at the sushi bar. We also came out with some Miso Phat shirts and they gave us bumper stickers. On vacation, fan of fish and sushi, so went for the Sushi Combo A $60 in hopes of indulging in a nice variety. The combo came with a choice of ca or spicy tuna roll and going with spicy tuna was a delicious decision. For the 12 piece nigiri, I asked for no tuna nigiri and no cooked shrimp. However, the cooked shrimp still showed up. Did not ask to swap because 1. they already put food on the table and per health regulation ur not supposed to take it back, i.e. don't wanna make it difficult for service and 2. it seems like they put repeat cuts of fish as replacements anyways. Moving on to the actual food, the fish was incredibly fresh and I did enjoy the thick cuts, even if it's not cut with typical sushi finesse, the taste weights more for me. Especially the mahi mahi (next to the shrimp in pic) was super soft and melts in your mouth, and it's also a rarer find in sushi broadly speaking. However, the cooked shrimp, as expected, was not worth. Also, at this price point, the cuts of fish could be introduced when serving. I can guestimate the hamachi and kanpachi but there seems to be different cuts of the same fish that I wish it was pointed out. Another issue for me is that there way too much rice on the nigiri. Don't get me wrong, I love bigger portions, but there's no need for that much rich for that much fish. Taking a straight bite at the nigiri just ends up with tasting just rice and I ended up wasting rice since I ended re-rationing the rice. Rice ratio for rolls are just fine. I think if I eat here again, I'd go for the rolls, mahi mahi, and sashimi instead. read more

We first visited this restaurant two years ago and had the pleasure of meeting the original owner. The service and quality of the food were so impressive that our teenage kids immediately added it to their "must-visit" list for future trips. On our recent vacation, we were happy to find that the food remains outstanding and continues to be one of the highlights of the experience. Unfortunately, the service was a different story. We visited twice during our trip, and on both occasions the service was mediocre and lacked the attentiveness and hospitality we remembered from our first visit. The new ownership may want to invest more time in customer service training for the wait staff. Great food can bring customers in, but exceptional service is often what keeps them coming back. It's disappointing to say this because we truly enjoyed our previous experience, but unless there are improvements in service, this restaurant will likely no longer be on our family's "must-visit" list for future vacations. read more

It would've gone a loooong way to just say "I'll be with you soon". But zero acknowledgement wasn't okay. We kept seeing staff walk right past us. We look over and see a server taking the order from another couple who got sat at the bar 5 mins after we did. Wow. Out of principle, my partner & I decided to walk out. We arrived around 2:00 p.m. and saw multiple tables set and ready, yet were told we couldn't be seated and had to order takeout.
