Not my first time here, but stopped by for an early lunch around 10:30 on a Sunday. Only one other table was there before us with 2 people, otherwise the place was pretty empty. I was surprised they open at 10 am, but they do. We were promptly given ice water and our orders taken. We ordered mini ramen combo (shoyu) with gyoza and mini pork fried rice...a seperate small order of gyoza and an order of beef curry. The gyoza came out quickly and were pretty good. The gyoza sauce bottle was nearly empty. Had to grab one from another table. For being the opening shift, I would have assumed the night shift would have prepped sauces the night before so none were empty on tables. The mini ramen came next and had a generous portion of noodles, and the noodles were very good. They seem to have changed their noodles. They used to taste more like rice noodles or spaghetti but now they are legit hand made ramen and are very good. Unfortunately, the shoyu broth was pretty bland even if I added soy sauce. Also, the mini ramen only came with one small piece of char siu pork inside...disappointing portion of meat. It took a long time before the beef curry came out. I was surprised it was so long after the ramen. When it came out, the portion size was very large, but mostly rice. Similar to the ramen, we felt that the meat portions were not generous. The curry didn't contain visible onion, but did have potato and large pieces of carrot. Not sure if worth the price since so little beef. They water refills kept coming which was nice. Good service in that regard. The mini pork fried rice was the last item to come out and almost came out as like a dessert timed item. I don't know why the timing of the items coming out was so spread out. Maybe they are short staffed in the kitchen or don't have many cooks yet at 10 am? Overall, the food is decent for what it is. Wish they were more generous with the meat. Also wish the service was a little faster. read more

Went there for a snack lunch. Fried shumai, lobster balls, mochiko chicken. Lobster balls were texturally weird and flavor wise totally artifical. I was not expecting real lobster at that price point, but it was just not good. I have good surimi, that was not it. Frozen product thrown in the fryer. Just like the shumai... The chicken was ok. We were grocery shopping in the Safeway nearby when we started to get alerted for a tsunami. We decided we would pick up dinner since we assumed places would start shutting down early. We came to Ramen Bones and placed a to go order. I ordered the spicy beef ramen which was pretty good. The problem came when my husband and son in law started to eat. They ordered the Tonkatsu. They both were cheated and got no meat in their order. The guys need their protein so they were pretty upset about it. The other orders were accurate but overall taste rating was just "ok" for our family. Service was really good and the lady working that night was friendly and funny. Was really curious to try this place out as there was now a closer location. I went with the black garlic ramen & my boyfriend got the mochiko chicken curry. We didn't wait long till the food arrived. The curry plate was huge! The ramen portion was also quite large. Taste was good, but not the best I've ever had. The chicken had a nice crisp & it was a good curry to chicken proportion. Curry was ok as well. Service was good & I'd say pricing was fair. The portion sizes were great. I had the combo mini spicy shoyu tonkotsu ramen, mochiko chicken and gyoza. The ramen was tasty, spice was just right for me. The noodles were just a bit thicker than somen. The gyoza was very good, but could have been left on the pan for a bit longer to get that crispy bottom on quality gyoza. Can't complain. Ordered katsu curry and got exactly that. My friend got the same thing but wanted the curry on the side. They accidentally put the curry on the katsu. They apologized and gave us a free piece of katsu. It was no big deal but they felt obligated to comp us something. Our waters were never empty and they were all very polite. Much more spacious than the Kahului location. Located in an area with more than enough parking. The portions are big! Beef curry, Chicken Katsu, chicken katsu curry. Oxtail by far the best from other restaurants at a great price. Miso soup is my go to as well as a lot of their Saimin. It's hard to choose from lol.
