That's a plus for takeout especially if it's a gravy item. I ordered a Mochicko Chicken and Honey Walnut Shrimp Combo Plate Lunch today. Basic Mochicko Chicken recipe so can't go wrong and was plenty about 1 1/2-2 cups worth. Six pieces medium size shrimps. Batter for the shrimp was kind of too thick. I like it thinner just my opinion. Because the batter could be more crisper tossed in the sauce won't be so mushy but since it's thick, it fells mushy for me. One scooped Mac salad and two scoops rice and this plate is filled. No, I could not finish. Half is saved for the next day. read more

Aloha Noodle Café is the revitalized business of the former Sugoi Ramen, housed in the same spot. Sugoi abruptly closed via a printed sign on their window that stated "On vacation" which ended up being for weeks.  All of a sudden a new sign posted in the window stated "Aloha Noodle Café coming soon".  I wasn't too excited as their old menu was just okay and the service lacked.  After seeing two reviews posted, a 1-star and 5-star, I had to come in for myself as how would I make a decision with ratings at both ends of the spectrum? ATMOSPHERE: No renovations have been done sans for the menu board.  The air conditioning was either broken or off as it was very warm inside, yet a few brave souls ate in.  Seating is quite plentiful. MENU: Chinese-inspired hot foods line, pho, saimin, dry noodle dishes, local plate lunches, rice dishes, pork, chicken, burgers, catering.  Ramen is no longer offered. FOOD: Crispy Cake Noodles with Seafood - $12.99 I absolutely love cake noodles so I had to try it. Maui's other "Chinese" eateries all make subpar cake noodle dishes so I wasn't expecting much. I've found the best version on the rock, and it was really, really good.  Say what?!  Yes!  The cake noodles were real cake noodles; crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.  And, the amount of noodles was obscene!  Literally enough for three servings.  It can't be only about the noodles as the gravy is just as important, and they rocked it! Savory, tasty and chock full of shrimp, zucchini, broccoli, won bok, carrots and mushrooms.  The only downfall were the calamari that were rubbery. I normally wouldn't pour all the gravy onto all the noodles but I did it for you, my fellow Yelpers as I wanted that voilà shot.  You're welcome, lol.  Next time, it'll be rationed in order to keep the noodles' crunchy texture. SERVICE: Counter service was friendly and food delivery was super quick, about 5 minutes. OVERALL: The cake noodles knocked me off of my feet.  I'm totally jubilant that they've made a comeback after their first failed attempt.  Keep it up and that rating might go up one more star! read more

This place is so underrated. I've been here several times and their food is actually really good and tasty! I've had their pho, which is delicious, and I've visited their express food side several times. Honestly, their express side is better than other expresses I've had such as pandas and L&L. There's way more flavor in the food, and way less greasy. The chow mein is so bomb! I always get the orange chicken, and I change it up for second entree with the spare ribs, beef broccoli or crispy pork with tomato and onions. Oh, and don't forget the gau gee! The prices are so reasonable and they don't skimp on the portions. They don't look too busy usually when I go in, which makes me sad because if you haven't tried this place, you're really missing out. Especially if you frequent other similar fast good cuisines. Truth be told, yeah, the express side is best when the items are fresh... but I've never been disappointed with this place to the point where I wouldn't return. Strictly for the service! Didn't taste the food because the service was that lacking and the lady who initially asked to take our order when we first walked in, decided she didn't want to help us after sitting down! I guess it's our fault for not knowing what was on their menu! Poor lady at the hot line was getting overwhelmed by customers as the other lady and a lazy Asian guy worker playing on his phone decided everybody in line should be helped by the same busy worker. Talk about teamwork! Looks bad when there are 3 employees and 2 are sitting on their butts while one is busting hers! We walked out after deciding not to spend our money at a place like this, no matter how good the food may be. Too bad, because I always over-order and will spend a lot of money if I like the place! Workers make the business, that's for sure! Poor lady worker who was busting her ass! We appreciated you even if though we didn't eat there cause of your lazy co-workers! Came here for dinner with the hubby, our first time here, and we were pleasantly surprised! We each had the beef noodle soup--he chose the round noodle and I chose the flat noodle--and we ordered their crispy calamari on the side. The beef soup was delish. Nice flavor on the broth, the beef chunks were cooked perfectly--can pull apart with the chopsticks--and the bok choi in the soup was also cooked wonderfully, tender with just enough crunch. I was very happy with the calamari as well. Light and crispy, served with a cold vinegary-shoyu dipping sauce on the side that was excellent with the hot, crispy calamari. We will be back to try more of the menu! I understand other reviewers who say the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. They aren't trying to make it fancy here, but that's not what we come for anyway. It's clean, nice and bright. You order at the counter and choose your own seating. If the ambience doesn't suit your taste, you can order to go and take it home. I was sad that Sugoi Ramen closed, but I'm happy that these folks opened. New restaurant!!! I'm assuming they opened this week because when I passed by last week it wasn't. I don't remember what restaurant was at this location previously, the only thing I can remember is that it was horrible! I was actually going to make dinner, but decided to try this place out instead. It was about 4:30pm when I got there. The place was pretty empty and the dining area was fairly clean. There was only one person working the front so it took a few minutes to place my order. Their menu is quite large! Lots to choose, they also have hot and ready items available also. I must add that the prices are pretty good. So, I ordered chicken pho, chicken katsu, kalbi plate, and since they had crispy cake noodles... well, you already know...lol. I waited about 15 minutes for my order, pretty quick. I was so hungry and excited to eat my food from this new restaurant! I wasn't happy with any of it! Chicken pho was bland and the chicken that was served with it was so dry like dried squid! Yuck! Chicken katsu was overcooked and dry, and they forgot to give me the katsu sauce...bummer! Kalbi plate looked amazing but so disappointing. Not sure if it wasn't thoroughly cooked or overcooked because it was really tough. And the sauce they put on it just killed it even more. Too sweet! Now the best part. The crispy cake noodles!!! I have to admit the noodles was great, and the chicken wasn't so bad, but, it was definitely lacking flavor! The vegetables was so overcooked, the zucchini and broccoli was just mush. Really should've just made dinner and saved my $50! read more

So just moved from Lahaina to Wailuku and wanted to see what the local dining experience was like. Honestly I would have given it less stars if it wasn't so fast. The food was definitely nothing to write home about. We got the Chicken Katsu and Mongolian beef. The rice didn't seem fresh and the Mongolian beef was very chewy, and it was far from portioned correctly ( beef to onions and peppers). The chicken was so/so, I've definitely had better. This seems like a family owned business. The family was eating diner out in the seating area which was empty. I can understand the logic of this but I wouldn't consider this professional. It's a large place with ample seating. I would say if they lowered the price a bit and got back to what makes the food they sell prime items of the culture I think they would do well. read more

Took my family here. Lots of options to choose from. Authentic beef noodle soup. Good pho. I enjoyed the hamburger as well.

Beef Noodle Soup was awesome, especially on this rainy night. It was reminiscent of Xian Famous Foods in NYC. Anxious to try other noodle dishes, noodles might be homemade? My 5 star rating is generous, but I want to bring this place's average up so more people try it and keep it open. This space has rotated a few times recently with nothing sticking. The Beef Noodle Soup is definitely worth the visit, gonna also try Crispy Chicken, Roast Duck and Pork Chop. I'll take pictures and update my review too. read more

This is written just on customer service. I walked in, not greeted which is fine, but I'm standing at the counter in front of the lady and she starts having a conversation with a worker on the table. Stood there 3 mins, directly in front of her arms reach. Won't acknowledge me or anything. I finally asked her if they were open she rolls her eyes and says yes. Then I asked if I could order and she says only if I'm ready. Well I've been ready for a while order and when she gives me the total she gets upset that I didn't give her enough. I couldn't understand her thought she said $24.50 but she said $25.50.( I heard twenty fooh fity)... hopefully the pho is better than the customer service. read more

Got the same thing every time and it was always good. Ordered it "to go" today and it was HORRIBLE. The "bbq chicken" had no flavor at all , it was slimy and rubbery and nasty with absolutely no bbq on it. The "fried rice" wasn't fried rice it was flavorless and oily . Called and let them know ~also called because wanted to find out if there was a new cook which would explain the sudden disgusting experience. They said, "yes there's a new cook" and they apologized for the flavorless , slimy food but they did not offer a refund or to remake the order. So we wasted $20 and gas and time driving to/from there. We will never ever eat there again. read more

Their Pho is very good. They even offer beef tendon Pho. Chinese offerings are also very good. I have had only what is in the warmers. But very much above average where taste and quality is concerned. read more
