My mom's favorite place. I haven't been here in years but it's decent. BBQ chicken plate was quite good and so were the mushroom chicken and eggplant. I'd come back to try other items.

My boyfriend loves this place. It's cute, every time we're in the area. He'll always ask, can we go to Mike's & my answer is always yes.

We were spending the evening at the historic Iao Theater in Wailuku and decided to pick up dinner at Mike's Hong Kong Bistro (aka Mike's Restaurant, for some reason). Unfortunately, their large dining room is closed due to... covid. Well, I wish that was one word we could all forget. Anyway, the take-out option worked for us because our plan was to eat at the picnic tables under the Banyon Tree at Market & Vinyard. We ordered the Chow Mein with 2 entrees, Sesame Chicken and Chicken with Black Bean Sauce. Not very creative, considering the many menu choices, but they were available cafeteria style and we were in a bit of a hurry. No packets, but I could pour some soy sauce into a thimble size cup to add my daily requirement of sodium. Armed with chopsticks and several napkins, we were all set to enjoy our grinds at Banyon Tree Park. The Chow Mein noodles were flatter and wider than we expected, and the flavor was really good. They were close to the noodles in Chow Fun. The Sesame Chicken was sweet and tender. The breading on the white meat was perfect. The Chicken with Black Bean Sauce was heavy with Zucchini Squash, but that's alright because we could see it in the serving tray (WYSIWYG). The chicken pieces were dark meat and the dish was cooked perfectly with a savory black bean sauce that left us wanting more. Even though we shared the dinner, we had a lot left over for another meal. I would call that a great deal.

Was walking around Wailuku and saw Mike's Hong Kong Bistro-theres no inside seating(because of covid) so everything is take out. It seems to be a popular place. The clerk was very helpful and explained what a couple items were I wasn't familiar with. They had pans of maybe 10 different items-priced for 1/2/3 entrées with chow mein or fried rice or you could order Ramen bowls. Since we were going to take it with us walking back to the tables at the banyan tree o Market Street we decided soup wasnt the best choice. We got the chow mein with sesame chicken and chicken with zucchini and black bean sauce. All 3 items were delicous! The chow mein was some of the best I've had in a long time. Both entrées chicken was cooked perfectly and chicken was very tender. He included forks and napkins we asked for chop sticks which he gladly got us. I know we will head back here again soon.

This place used to be a go-to spot a lot back in the day. Lately it's one of the last resort stops or a nice to stop in when we haven't been for awhile. The food isn't horrible, depending what time of day you go the food may seem like it's been sitting a bit. My only downer would be the customer service isn't so great. There used to be the younger guy working the counter who was really friendly but now it seems to only be the husband and wife, don't expect any smiles. But the food is decent and the prices are pretty reasonable. I don't recommend this place as somewhere you have to stop in and try but they do offer some local Chinese faves that can get the job done. I feel like they're used a lot for catering and definitely better than Wei Wei.

Do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere. Like anywhere else. You'd think that restaurants would attempt to give good service, food and drinks during a pandemic. Mikes don't give AF. Bad service. Dirty establishment and shit for food. Into the trash it goes. What a waste of time and money.

The shrimp came lightly battered with onion, garlic, & ginger on it. The perfect savory combo. At first glance, I was wondering where the seafood was because I just saw a few shrimp. I later realized there was calamari as well. A very flavorful dish. Service was good, despite them mentioning they were short staffed. Aunty was literally like one of my my aunties. We showed up at 12p with a reservation but there were only 2 other parties but it was also a Monday so it worked out. The food was very tasty. Never tried cold noodle soup but that tricked my mind like crazy. The broth looked clear and flavorless but it was so delicious. I really enjoyed that with the chewy noodles. The La Kalbi made me see the birth of the universe. That thing was ridiculous. I'm still dreaming about it. I've never had Kalbi so soft and disintegrated before even chewing. We also tried the vegetable stir-fry with shrimp because my wife wanted to balance out all the meats but I'm not a vegetable guy. It was still tasty. The reason for coming was to try the tofu soup but we didn't even try that so we'll have to come back. I wanted to knock the rating down for pricing but I can choose whether I go here or not and I know the cost of doing business is crazy especially hawaii. overall, we had a great experience and the leftovers fed us for 2.5 days after our visit.

Literally took 45 minutes from sitting to getting our food. They were out of some stuff and we were told that they couldn't make some stuff because it would take too long. I guess there was only 1 cook too. Definitely not what I expected from a Korean restaurant. Kind of disappointed with the selections available and my bulgogi and japchae turned out to be a soup, which kind of bummed me out. No taste to the bulgogi and it was glass noodles with no taste of either listed dish. I threw it away. Kim chee fried rice was also blah. Sorry, but I ain't going back to this place since it's not what I'm used to eating. Maybe it's like this in Korea, but I like my Korean food more Hawaii. 2 stars, and I'm being generous

The Ahi Katsu was next level -- perfectly crisp on the outside, tender and flavorful inside. The combination of their house-made aioli, katsu sauce, and unagi sauce was to die for. The open air dining room has several tables that can be put together for parties of 8. When we dined there it was very busy. I spoke to our young server who almost seemed overwhelmed with tables. Although she did a great job juggling her guests. She recited specials of the night and we ordered a fair amount of dishes for our large party. Umi combines modern local dishes with Japanese flavors, sashimi and sushi rolls. Several dishes utilize the deep fat fryer for textures and depth. We had a good variety: Agedashi Eggplant very crispy and flavorful spices and a dashi sauce that kept its crispness. Calamari Salad and Calamari had crispy tendrils of squid legs with a sauce that tied it together. Panko Breaded Pork Belly served with a thick Katsu Sauce was decadent. Fried Nabeta was entirely edible and very crispy. Large bed of rice, puréed ginger, and a delicate dashi-soy sauce. Truffle Edamame and Sushi rolls were good. Tuna bolognese with spaghetti in a light tomato sauce. Oyster shooters had a good proportion of spiciness with a raw oyster. The special Modern Sushi brought 5 Goteburg Sausage Rolls, an inverted Musubi with salty fried sausage encasing rice. Many folks bring coolers of beer or wine to complement the food.
