So happy to see a great restaurant up and running at the Maalaea harbor. Definitely one of the better upscale dining experiences in central Maui. The restaurant is located at the shopping center where the Maui Ocean Center is. There is plenty of parking. It has great views of the harbor as well as air conditioned inside seating, and a very clean private bathroom. We spend a lot of time here and have watched restaurants not last quite frankly because they have a hard time staying consistent. It took us a couple of visits to give this place a try and we are bummed that we waited, because it is SO GOOD! Our server, Riley, was super friendly and offered us his suggestions, which we took. We started with the crispy kanpachi toll. Then tried the special (uku), the scallops, a salad and cioppino. Everything was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The mash was perfect with whatever sauce the scallops had. We topped it off with two desserts because we couldn't make up our minds. The chocolate cake was okay - we opted for no caramel so maybe that was the missing piece, the cookie in the cast iron skillet was SO GOOD. Gooey, and perfect with the mac nut ice cream. OMG! The dinner was absolutely wonderful! We ordered the Wagyu beef in Chow Fun noodles, mushroom risotto, and street corn. The Wagyu beef was the most tender , melt in your mouth, tender. Risotto was perfect and creamy. The corn was to die for. They must have put an entire cube of butter in that corn. So good! Wait person was really nice guy was attentive and knowledgeable about the food on the menu. Very clean, with a nice view. I would love to go back anytime we return to Maui. read more

Haven's Harborside is the perfect Happy Hour spot with live music, fresh salt water air with the harbor views and delicious affordable food and cocktails! My coworkers and I went for their Happy Hour. They got refreshing Margaritas and I got myself the Paia Bay which had rum, coconut cream, pineapple and POG (Passion Orange and Guava). If you like fruity and creamy cocktails like me, this is a great choice! I think it was dusted with some Nutmeg which gave it a nice kick of spice while sipping. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Poke Nachos as our starter. It had crispy won ton chips, spicy ahi, and cucumbers mixed with the spicy sriracha aioli and furikake on top. We got 2 Fish and Chips and my coworker shared a sliver of her Baja Shrimp Tacos with me (which I wasn't able to take a photo of lol). The Fish and Chips had a nice crispy beer batter with Seasoned Fries and 3 sauces, ketchup for the fries, tartar sauce with yummy dill and the most delicious guava vinegar! I am a sauce lover so I loved the trio! The Baja Shrimp Tacos were nice and crispy with a pico de gallo on the side and a salsa verde butter. I love the Harborside setting and the seaside theme inside with a nice bar and the open concept is very inviting and refreshing! If we had more time, I would've loved to try their dessert menu. Guess it just means I'll have to come back soon! Happy Hour is 3-5 pm and if you're Kama'aina (Resident) you can enjoy a 25% discount this month of May. Ever since I dined at the Restaurant at Hotel Wailea for my birthday 8 years ago, I knew there was something special about Zach Sato. So, when I discovered he opened up Haven's Harborside since I was on island last year, I made a reservation 3 months ago early for hubby's birthday dinner. Started off with a Maui ohana wagyu beef croquette creatively paired with a tomato jam, olives, and za'star. He got the fish of the day special that came from a 147 lb mahi mahi caught by Captain Derek that day, prepared with a creamy red curry sauce so delicious, we mixed the entire bowl of rice to get every drop of that sauce. I ended up choosing the kampachi, which coincidentally was the same fish with a similar acidic preparation as the one I had 8 years ago, but this time with more aromatics. I did forget that I thought it was a bit too acidic previously so preferred the creamy red curry preparation of the mahi mahi. read more

Located near the Maui Ocean Center, Haven's offers a variety of seafood options and smash burgers. We went in late December and got an indoor table which was open to the outdoors, but without direct sun. The weather was fantastic, sunny, breezy, high 70s. Shout out to our server, Iris, who was awesome. She checked in on us a lot but didn't pressure us even though we were taking our time. Our kids even got some free cookies for Christmas time. The food- Verde Fish Tacos - tasty version of grilled fish tacos - tender fish + creamy smoky sauce with a kick Smash Burger - their award winning smash burger. Kids menu comes with nicely fried french fries. Garlic Fries - finally a place that does the name justice. A lot of restaurants will add fresh garlic to fries which winds up making them a little soggy. The garlic fries here are just as crispy as the regular. Hanapa's - the shrimp cocktail is more like a prawn (huge) and my favorite part, followed by the poke and the oyster shooter, which I thought were on the salty side. Haven's started out with a small takeaway counter in Kihei which has since closed. They still have a food truck in Kahului and this latest brick & mortar in Ma'alaea's Maui Harbor Shops. ATMOSPHERE: They've taken over the former Beach Bums spot on the lower level. It's a spacious, open air eatery with a lively beach house vibe and has great views of the harbor and Haleakala. RESERVATIONS: Recommended as they were pretty busy on this particular Sunday night. PARKING: Free for kama'aina but a fee for everyone else. After 5pm it's free for all. DINNER MENU: American & Italian. BEVERAGE: La Perouse I'm guessing this is their version of a mule, which while tasty, didn't have a strong fizziness from the ginger beer. FOOD: Brussels Sprouts I normally wouldn't order this common app but it sounded good tonight, and tasted even better than I had imagined. No drizzle or sauce needed with its trifecta of sweet, savory and char flavors. Chelsea Farm Clams The delicate, savory broth was heavenly, with added smokiness from the Portuguese sausage slivers. Garlic Butter Fries Nom! The world's best fries have been crowned. Local Romaine Caesar A baby romaine caesar is few and far between nowadays. This version sported a more tangy dressing with light creaminess. Crispy Kanpachi Roll I'm not a sushi fan but this was insanely good. The rice to filling ratio was perfect as well. Local Style Mahi No kanpachi was available so mahi it was. Whenever I see fish done in a shoyu broth, it's an automatic order for me. I was surprised at the plating as the fish was presented in a bowl. But, it was necessary as the fish sat in a pool of the gingery, savory and tart broth, topped with sea asparagus (sea beans) and ogo (seaweed). SERVICE: My only gripe was the food delivery timing as the entrées came out while we were still enjoying the apps which crowded the table. Male server was okay and checked on us once. Had a great dinner at Havens Harborside Fish & Chophouse, definitely one of the stronger meals I've had on Maui recently. We tried a range of dishes: these were a few of my favorites. The crispy kampachi roll was a standout to start, super fresh with the perfect crunch. The wagyu chow fun was my favorite of the night - rich and flavorful. The buttermilk fried chicken was done really well (crispy outside, juicy inside), and the whole fried fish with ginger scallion was clean and let the freshness shine. Also really liked the double duroc pork tomahawk, nicely cooked and tender, and the house-made mafaldine, which was deliciously rich and comforting. Service was great, welcoming and warm throughout. I recently had the chance to check out the Haven's Harborside Fish & Chophouse in Maalaea, and it was a total surprise--in the best way. If you remember the space from before, they took over the previous Beach Bums BBQ, you'll know it had a bit of a dark and dated feel. Not anymore! The restaurant has been completely transformed into a bright, modern, and inviting spot with colorful touches that give it a fresh, modern island vibe. My coworkers and I went for happy hour, which runs daily from 3 to 5 p.m., and it turned out to be the perfect setting for a casual celebration. The happy hour menu provided a variety of choices. There seems to be a strong focus on sustainability as they work closely with local fishermen and suppliers to source only the freshest, ethically caught seafood which makes an appearance in about half of the items on the menu. They do offer a kamaaina discount as well if you sit up at the bar. However, we opted for a table during this visit. We ordered a little bit of everything from the happy hour options, and there were few standout dishes. The NY steak pupu, fish & chips, and chilled black tiger shrimp were all hits--fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. We also tried the truffle fries, poi falafel, and spicy tuna rice cakes. The falafel was just okay, and while I didn't personally try the rice cakes, my coworkers thought they were a bit too hard and not quite balanced in flavor. For drinks, I had the Baldwin Beach mocktail, which was refreshing and perfect for the warm Maui afternoon. My coworkers opted for cocktails, which they described as strong and spot-on for our celebratory mood. It's always nice when a place nails both food and drinks, and Haven's delivered. Service was another high point--friendly, attentive, and efficient--and the happy hour prices felt more than fair for the quality. We popped into Havens for happy hour and it ended up being my favorite meal on Maui. People kept steering us to the sit-down pizza spot, but Havens quietly punches way above its weight. The oyster shooter was a standout. Super fresh with a pepper-infused kick, lemon, and that clean ocean taste. I was melting from the heat and it still hit. The Burger scratched the burger itch too -- melty cheese with that easy pull and a satisfying, juicy bite. I don't remember the fries, which tells me they were fine, nothing wild. The steak was the showstopper. Tender, medium-rare steak with green onion over that chewy-tasty base, super balanced and just delicious. $26. Service deserves love. Our server kept checking on me and refilling waters while I was basically overheating, and she was so kind about it. Absolute legend. We had a really nice, laid-back lunch at Haven's Harborside today. Sitting outside across from the docks was a great scene on a perfect afternoon, and the service was excellent throughout. We ordered the shrimp tacos and the mahi mahi fish and chips. Both were good, though we should have asked how the shrimp was prepared -- they came fried, and we probably would've gone a different direction if we'd known. The mahi mahi was solid, and the Jaws cocktail was a standout. The only minor downside was paid parking nearby. It was only about $5 and not the restaurant's fault, just something to keep in mind when planning a visit. The seafood tasted amazing and the prawns were fresh, sweet, and, succulent. The prawns were perfectly cooked and the acidic tomato sauce and pomme puree complimented the dish. The drinks were good- the Mai tai's, mango spritz's, wine, and more. The fried chicken and burger were very delicious with the special sauce on the burger and the nice mix of dipping the chicken in their smooth potato purée and Asian-inspired dipping sauce. This was such a lovely little gem by the harbor! One of our local friends suggested Haven's as our meeting spot for a delicious and relaxing meal after arriving on Maui. The restaurant had a table set up for us outside for our reservation, which gave us a great view of the water. We ordered the cast iron focaccia as a starter while we looked over the menu. (It was so good that we got a second one for the table with dinner!) After we got our beverages, our waiter, Nate, made some excellent suggestions for our entrees. I decided to go with the diver scallops with xo and miso brown butter hollandaise sauces. It was stunning, especially since the hollandaise was partially foamed to make it light and airy. The scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly and melted in your mouth. We also shared the lobster mac and cheese and grilled broccolini with aged balsamic. Despite the generous serving sizes, it was effortless to eat everything! The food was delicious with truly quality ingredients, and we savored every bite. The service by Nate and the crew was impeccable. Our friend dining with us has been in food service for 30 years, and he noted how professional and thoughtful the servers were throughout the meal. Enjoyed a light dinner with friends on a Weds night. Easy parking right in front of the restaurant instead of the complicated upstairs lot. Ambiance was elegant and bright with uniformed staff greeting my arrival even though I came after our 6 top was already seated. Lots of warm wood finishes and attractive seating. It was already dark, but during daytime there are stellar harbor views of the harbor and breaching Humpback whales on the bay towards the uninhabited Kahoolawe. The bar looked like a custom wood Japanese temple with backlit bottles lined with vertical green subway tile backsplash. LED TVs were visible but unobtrusive and volume subdued to NBA playoffs. Glassed in kitchen showcased uniformed chefs hustling on the line. I'm glad they obscured the bottom half of end window so guests were limited to see "everything." Tried a good variety of drinks, dishes and entrees that were elegantly presented by servers and runners at the same time. Elote corn, mushrooms, green beans, potatoes, arrived in small colorful bowls were seasoned and garnished. Iron skillet Bread was nice with a crisp herb crust with a ramekin of herb butter. Chimichurri Steak was sliced thin off the bone on a platter and MR Colorado Lamb chops were carved from the whole rack. Scallops were seared tender and Fresh Catch had ample sauces. All foods were moist, seasoned and very good. The only hiccup was green beans served to our friend allergic to shellfish. They didn't know that the beans were garnished with "opae", Hawaiian for tiny dried bay shrimp. Manager Lance and Server Connor were very apologetic, and professional and often checked on her condition which was minor. Once we were done with dinner Lance offered to bring dessert and we sampled almost everything. Guava stuffed Malasadas with Anglaise was popular. Mango Cheesecake with a crust seasoned with cardamon, and Chocolate Ice Cream bar were delicious. Ube chocolate slice was great, but sweet. Overall, it's a nice additional option for an elegant restaurant in the central Ma'alaea location that's sometimes overlooked at night. read more

After he learned we were celebrating 3 days & an anniversary, he gifted us with ornaments for birthdays & and anniversary. Corkage was $25. We enjoyed the food except for the special fish of the day - we found the fish a bit dry/tough, fishy & not flavorful. The rest we enjoyed very much. The server was excellent: attentive, explained each dish well & was very accommodating. We got desserts too. We came here on a Saturday afternoon to try the happy hour. This place is located downstairs in the Maui Harbor Shops at Maalaea. There is plenty of parking (pay online, free for Hawaii residents). There is a large seating area inside with a big bar. The breezy seating outside is covered with a great ocean view. The service is very friendly! We ordered the mai tai, margarita, oyster shooters, shrimp cocktail, smash burger, butter garlic fries, and NY steak pupu. Both drinks were handcrafted, refreshing and so yummy! The shrimp cocktail comes with 4 super tender jumbo shrimp. The oyster shooters definitely lives up to its glowing reputation. The steak is lean but tender, is grilled perfectly and comes with a flavorful dipping sauce. The smash burger is really juicy and goes well with the garlic butter fries. They have a 25% kamaaina discount for lunch and dinner if you sit at the bar. No kamaaina discount for happy hour. We had a very nice lunch on the veranda and watched the half day charters come back with flags of their catch on their upright outrigger poles; mainly Mahi, an Ono (Wahoo), and Ahi (Yellowfin tuna). It's official, I just had my first happy hour experience at "HAVENS HARBORSIDE FISH & CHOPHOUSE." So if anyone ate at this location before this restaurant moved in & did their renovation. You'll definitely be impressed with their gorgeous, plus clean, ocean side color choices & decor. We arrived a few minutes into their happy hour & were seated immediately after requesting a table for four. Plus service was fast in the beginning, waters arrived right after menus were dropped. I started with the "PAIA BAY (rumhaven coconut rum, coconut cream, pineapple passion, orange & guava.)" It was a delicious sweet drink & even the cup was cute. My second drink I tried was the "PUAMANA POOLS (beefeater gin, ginger liqueur, pineapple, lime orgeat & absinthe.)" Now that drink was also delicious & I liked that it came with a ginger candy garnish. As for the Happy Hour Bites I ended up trying the: Chilled black tiger shrimp with ocean vodka cocktail sauce. (The shrimp had a clean presentation & the shrimp were massive.) Spicy ahi poke nachos* with wonton, avo, sea bean, cucumber, ginger relish. (I was actually surprised by how big this plate was considering this was off the happy hour menu. I wasn't able to eat it all & ended up taking home half.i) NY steak pupu* with cabbage, ginger, scallion & finadene. (This was another dish I was impressed with the amount of food. Definitely filling & absolutely delicious.) Verde fish taco with cabbage, smoked pepper, crema & pico de gallo. (Fish tacos are always a go to for me & omg this one is all about that verde flavor.) Truffle fries with parmesan & parsley. (Always a fun snack & no fries were spared.) Dining notes: During slower times it's easier to get VIP service. However when guests start to fill up the remaining empty seats. It left a longer gap between being checked on. So by the time we finished our first round of food & drinks. We didn't get to order our second round until the table was already cleared. Also I noticed the happy hour menu didn't have their name & logo on it. It's just free advertising when a guest takes a picture to share with their friends & family. Plus I like to have it for my food photos, otherwise I might forget where it came from further down the road. I'll definitely need to plan a future lunch & dinner visit. We had a lovely lunch here . Our friendly server suggested the poke nachos, as my friend had the smash burger and truffle fries . The nachos were delicious but maybe start with less sauce or ask for it on the side . The nachos part was crispy wontons very good flavors and fresh fish . Absolutely LOVE this place! We go nearly weekly to the happy hour as it's a perfect place to meet my husband to celebrate the end of the week - he works in town and I in Kihei so it's central and beautiful- definitely worth the drive every time! Fast friendly service and consistently fantastic and fresh! You can often see the fishermen deliver fresh fish straight from the harbor boats. It's our first choice for a special dinner out - we celebrated our Anniversary here this year and met out with special friends for dinner too- I absolutely love the scallops- cooked to perfection! The house made focaccia is terrific in a small cast iron pan! And the risotto is the best I ever had! Risotto seems to always disappoint with rice being undercooked or the sauce not as tasty as hoped... not here! I have it every time and it's always on point! Lunch is also superb! I love the fish tacos! And don't miss the poke nachos! Whatever you are celebrating- consider this gem of a restaurant! It's no wonder it won best restaurant of 2025 and best chef!! Lovely spot next to the harbor! Happy hour fare is where it's at! Baja Lobster Taco - simple beer battered tender lobster with a nice salsa verde butter (so creative!) and pico. A little pricey, but excellent quality and flavor. 5 stars. Fish & Chip - the marlin was done right and a good portion. Same tasty beer batter and plentiful fries. 5 stars. Deluxe smash burger - juicy patty with fresh tomato and lettuce on a semi smashed bun. No complaints for $12, but Velzyland smash burger remains king. 5 stars. Our friends had drinks, steak pupu, crab rangoons and poke nachos and all were very satisfied. After reading some other reviews we were concerned about the service during HH, but everyone was attentive and friendly! They checked back 2 times to make sure we didn't want to order any more HH items. Good stuff! read more

We went to celebrate our engagement and we had such an amazing experience here. The service was a 10/10, our server was super friendly and helpful. I wish we got her name. The ambiance is nice because you can choose to sit inside our outside. We chose to sit inside because it was really windy but inside the restaurant is really clean and I love all the little touches they did with the decorations. The food was a 10/10. You can tell the ahi poke was really fresh and you don't really get that a lot. Every dish item we got we really enjoyed! We'd definitely be coming back again, and we love being able to support local at the same time. read more

Ordered 3 simple things. Asked the waiter for burgers without cheese and salad with dressing on the side. Apparently that was too complicated? Probably would have liked the salad if it hadn't been drowning in the dressing we asked to be on the side. Burgers were meh. And came with cheese. Seemed clean. People were otherwise nice. read more

Service and food are both very good. The Paniolo Smash burger was delicious. And the chicken tenders were very good too. French fries were crispy and good too. The menu is rather limited. Most of the appetizers were seafood related. read more

Last minute stop for some fish burgers here on a quiet Sunday. Nice thing is we choose our seat. Very comfortable, cool, not too noisy, and service was quick. The view of the harbor, Haleakalā, south Kīhei, and other islands are an enjoyable & relaxing scene. I ordered the Mahi-mahi sandwich with truffle fries. The mahi-mahi was slightly over cooked but I think done so for the crispiness. Omg, the fries were so delish I took my leftovers with me for a walk around the boats. read more
