Son'z was my pick to honor the birthday King! There were other steakhouses on the island but this one had all his favorites on the menu! Plus it was close to the resort we were staying at. I already knew we weren't driving 30 mins for food. I didn't want any upsets on this special occasion so Son'z it is! And Son'z did NOT disappoint. Let's talk about ambiance. We walked into the beautiful Hyatt Regency, through the hotel to the right a small sign above a staircase welcomed us to the restaurant. Once you walk down you see the beautiful view which overlooks water and a waterfall, swans swim around which makes a beautiful view. The ocean in the background is breathtaking. Service - Our waitress Kayselynn never missed a beat and the manager came over twice to check in. Servers who assisted were equally nice and polite. Let's get into it! Calamari- Excellent! Ragu Short Rib Pasta - Excellent! Lobster Tail - Delicious! Complimentary bread and butter - YUMMERS! Drinks - Great! Overall this was a solid steakhouse, there are only a handful of steakhouses so I'm grateful for this one being close to us! Hyatt is simply beautiful!

Outstanding Lobster and Brussels@ Son'z Steakhouse!

She treated me to Maui for my birthday and Son'z Steakhouse was her choice for my Bday dinner. Located inside the GORGEOUS Hyatt Regency Resort that looks more like a Park Hyatt, this honestly may have been the best dining experience that I've EVER had, and no I am not being a prisoner of the moment.. Lol. So much so, we're still in Maui as I write this review and I NEVER write reviews this fast. Let's start with the restaurant itself. Picture literally eating a meal in paradise. Can't get that at any of the restaurants in mainland USA. Our table was on water's edge and had beautiful swans swimming around at night. The waterfall added to the dramatic scenery as well. The food was ridiculously good. She chose Son'z because I love a good Ribeye, however, I guess my lunch was heavier than I thought because it stuck with me for 6 hours and I had to eat light :(. That said, I chose the grilled lobster tail and she went with the shortrib Ragu. My lobster tail ranked right up there with Nobu's and that's without me having an appetite. She loved her shortrib Ragu and after I tasted it, I agree 100%! Our server Caselyn was delightful and does her job with ease. The manager checked on us at least three times as he did with all of the tables, making sure his patron's experience was nothing short of amazing. If you're ever lucky enough to be treated to a trip to Maui like I was or you have to do what most folks do and pay for it yourself.. Lol, please do yourself a favor and put Son'z Steakhouse on your must do list, you'll definitely be blown away like we were!!!!

Service was 10/10 Space 10/10 Appetizers 8/10 Food was like 7.5/10 We took the family of 6 to Son's and really enjoyed our food and time eating there and talking story, but overall I think for the price, we've had better. (sorry, please dont come @ me) The complimentary bread and butter were really delicious to start. We had the calamari and dumplings (6pc) as appetizers. It was good to sample off the bat. Anywhere we go, we always try to get in an app or two to feel out how the rest of the food's going to be like. I highly recommend getting a few to try for the table. The salads were next and pretty good. We tried all 3 optipns and were able to split them. I would say that one salad was definitely shareable for two people. Then onto the entrees. Our table ordered different steaks with some sides and I ordered the pork chop specialty and other family member ordered the shrimp scampi. Pictures included. It's a nice place to celebrate a special occasion, anniversary or something more once in a while, but overall was just okay. I may give it another chance later, but for now, I'll leave it here. Local Tip: Check on Kamaʻāina discount

Lobster Ravioli - absolutely delicious with lovely Maine lobster!

Situated in the Hyatt Hotel, this steakhouse stop has a lot to offer! Restaurant tables look out onto an illuminated rock grotto with waterfalls and a large water feature! Area is populated by ducks and black and white swans. Ordered lobster ravioli - which was spectacular and filled with bit pieces of Maine lobster and a tail on top! Lovely creamy sauce to top. Short rib was cooked so tender and served alongside perfectly grilled heirloom carrots and probably the best mashed potatoes I have ever tasted! Menu offers a nice variety, including steak, sides and seafood. Service was quick and very friendly. Definitely make reservations ahead as it's quite popular, and for good reason! Highly recommend a stop!

We stayed at the hyatt & we were not wanting to walk far to have dinner for my bday. Im so glad we decided to come here. Everything was delicious. I had the catch of the day it was $52 but worth it. It came with mashed potatoes & they were so yummy. My wife had the chicken, she loved it as well.

Great meal with nice service. Nothing special but the comp bread and butter for the table was SO good. Steak was good, short rib ragu pasta was average, salads were all good. Probably wouldn't return but it was on property and easy.

Was not impressed at all . My steak had no flavor my Brussels sprouts were burnt. So disappointed! The service was good . Gorgeous restaurant but much better during the day. I enjoy a good steakhouse this was not it sorry . For the price I expected so much more. Disappointing bday dinner

We came here again after several years craving steak. The restaurant is beautiful, spacious with high ceilings, soft music in the background, and seating facing a waterfall and pond. The staff were very professional, friendly, and attentive. A server in training made a joke about a drunk whale in a bar that didn't hit. My Son'z Hawaiian Punch cocktail was refreshing. The complimentary bread was warm and fresh. There was a long wait greater than 45 minutes before our entrees came out. We had a good sampling of the menu from fresh market mahi mahi, roasted chicken, NY strip steak, and filet mignon. Everything was well prepared especially the steaks but they did lack boldness in the flavors. Overall a great experience.

While visiting Maui on a girls' trip, we decided to treat ourselves to this fabulous restaurant! Our waitress, Shaddon , was absolutely amazing! She gave us such wonderful service, and suggested the most delicious dishes at Son'z Steakhouse. We all ordered lobster tails, brussel sprout and garlic mash potatoes which were all perfectly prepared by their amazing chef! I strongly suggest ordering the short rib raviolis for an appetizer! The general manager, Michael, came over to our table and introduced himself and asked if we needed anything! It was really nice to have that special attention! Not only will you see penguins, swans, ducks and birds, but you will also be able to watch the beautiful waterfalls! I highly recommend this magnificent restaurant!

Remember this being so good from previous trips but we found it to be just okay this time around. The steak was not very good, lacked flavor and cut was just okay. The lamb however was delicious. Sides were good but again nothing exciting. Service was ok. Slow. Not as attentive as we remember. No one in our party was drinking alcohol and couldn't get our water or other drinks refilled very easily. It was busy which I expect for it being attached to a hotel however not too loud. It's ok but not sure if we'll return after this experience.

We were staying at the Hyatt Regency and decided to try Sonz for dinner one evening. I love the ambiance of this restaurant. It's open air with a pond and water fall. During the day the view towards the beach is amazing. We did not have a reservation and did not have to wait for a table. We were given bread & drinks upon seating. The service was very good. Our drinks (water/ soda) were constantly refilled. Our table of 4 ordered the Shrimp scampi, Chicken Parm, 2 Filet, mac and cheese & fries. Everything came out in a reasonable time. The only issue was one filet was requested to be medium and it was more medium rare/ rare. They did heat it up more for us. Close to $300 for 4ppl which seems to be common for Hawaii.

Seating on the water and solid service. This restaurant sits inside a Hyatt hotel so I was a little skeptical. Great ambiance overall and a pretty traditional steakhouse, which is what we were looking for. Nice wine list and not overpriced - we were pleasantly surprised. The food was perfect - great salads to start and amazing steaks - beautiful cuts and perfectly cooked. The side dishes are definitely shareable for 2-3 people. They also offer free valet for restaurant guests. It's a must visit if you're a steak lover.

The "wine list" was a couple of plastic sheets of way overpriced wines bordering on 6-7 times wholesale cost. I wanted to tell people coming in to avoid the place at all costs. I really think it was the risotto that was connected to a special dish and not the side. I started out with the steamed clams. They were good flavor and I liked the sauce with it but some of the clams didn't open which is bad. they were a nice size to. Next was the pork chop wrapped in bacon. It was cooked and tasted ok. Another 10 minutes later, he showed up again, apologized and said the restaurant's manager had said their order-entry system had gone down and that our order would be one of the first to go in w/the tech running again. Then another 25 minutes passed, other tables got their food, and we sat empty-handed. Two of our party finally complained to multiple staff; our waiter said to calm down and that our food would be ready in another 10 minutes (seriously?); and very soon thereafter, our food finally arrived. No apologies from the restaurant, no follow-up on why the order took another half-hour after their system was allegedly running again, no sign of our appetizers or wine. We were OK w/those last details because after waiting more than an hour, we were ready to leave. Our order finally arrived more than an hour after we had placed it, and the food was fine. My advice is buy your own drinks and take a small cooler and bring your own snacks. Save yourself $200.

One of our favorite restaurants in Maui. And we gratefully return every year. If you can believe…read moreme, it's totally worth the 1+ hour wait to get 50% off on Sunday or Monday. I'm sure it's mayhem for the staff those days but Megan and Jorge were kind, patient, and funny too! After we ordered, Megan called out one that didn't seem to fit and advised against that choice. And she was totally right. Happy for her guidance. Tips on ordering. We came back to Sansei after three years and had a good meal. I was expecting amazing sushi based…read moreon my memory and also the fact that I figure Hawaii is a place to get great sushi. With that expectation, we were a little disappointed. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it was not amazing. We had: - The miso fish appetizer, which was very, very good - The crispy Brussels sprouts, which were good - The edamame, which was standard edamame - The kids got butter noodles, which were fine, and a California roll, which was fine but not great - The waiter recommended one of the special rolls, which was again okay but not particularly great The nigiri was good but not melt-in-your-mouth amazing We had salmon, tuna, Hamachi. Unagi. My wife had a margarita, which was good and definitely on the strong side. All in all, I would say that this is a perfectly good place for sushi, but don't go in with super high expectations. It's a four-star, but definitely not five.
