My cousins and I went to Pilina for Happy Hour. Happy Hour is between 4:30-5:30 pm. The selection was ok, wish there was sushi rolls available on the Happy Hour Menu although the Dinner Menu was available so we ordered Signature Sushi Rolls too. We ordered 3 items from the Happy Hour Menu: Tuna Crunch, Sunomono, and Kimchi Dip. Tuna Crunch and Sunomono was my favorite. The Tuna Crunch had garlic chips, chili crunch, and ponzu sauce poured over table side. The Sunomono looked simple with a stack of cucumbers but it also had the most addictive sauce of Garlic Tamari, Chili Crunch and Micro Cilantro. The Kimchi Dip was delicious but I'm not a huge fan of Yorkshire Puddings and would rather had crostini's or bread for dipping. My cousin ordered an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan and he said the drinks were made real good. Another cousin and I opted for Alcohol free drinks, my cousin had one with grapefruit and I enjoyed my "martini" with mango and lilikoi (passion fruit). The Signature Sushi Rolls were delicious. We shared the Anuenue (Rainbow) which included Crab, Ahi, Salmon, Hamachi and Ebi and the Nani (Beautiful) which included Spicy Salmon, Cucumber, Avocado, Yakiniku Sauce, Sweet Soy and Micro Greens. We also ordered the Katsu Pork Belly which our bartender recommended. There's 6 crispy pieces atop Rice, Katsu Sauce, Cabbage and Japanese Curry Mayo. My cousin got the Hot Rock Maui Nui Venison Striploin which was cooked on the Hot Rock for 15 seconds per side and served with 4 Homemade Tortillas and Shiso Chimichurri. Overall, food was pretty good but of course quite expensive and located on a tourist spot. Thankful for Kamaaina discount and the beautiful sunset views!

Had a wonderful time at the Pilina. We sat at the bar and watched the most beautiful sunset, while sipping delicious cocktails. This location had been recommended to us by our guide from the island. He did not miss! The location is absolutely breathtaking! Full of art, carved wooden pieces, statutes, koi pond, etc. Bartenders and staff were unbelievable friendly and helpful. You felt right at home. And let's talk about the cocktails! Delicious! And the art of making them was so cool to watch! From what coiling glasses with spinning ice chunks, smoking, etc. Very unique to watch. This location was full of fun and casually romantic. We had a blast! So, go!

Dined here a few times while staying at the Fairmont. Cannot say enough about the aesthetic of this restaurant and the delicious cocktails. The tuna crunch is probably one of the best dishes on the menu, although noting it's a small portion. The food and drinks are good. The price is slightly high, and the current extra "patio" seating area is under construction. Would recommend coming for drinks or happy hour.

In the fairmont kea lani. Go for the view and the service. Sat at the bar. View was absolutely stunning. High up and looking down across the fairmont kea lani and down on the sunset. Epic. Bartender was amazing. Fun and ffriendly..a tad of sass (just enough) Food was super expensive and just ok. Edamame was flavorless. $50 for the volcano roll and it really only tasted like the fresh pepper on top. Though when one popped off the roll underneath was just OK too. Fun and tasty mocktails!

The most amazing lobby bar I've ever experienced in my life. Food was amazing. Service was amazing. highly recommend the sushi and the cocktail butterfly for a king. You won't regret it and I promise you'll return. Stayed there in July during the fourth. Had an amazing time.

A stunning bar with an excellent sunset view framed through the window behind the bar. We arrived late at night after our flight and wanted a light snack and a drink for our first night back in Maui. We ordered sushi and the edamame. The edamame portion is generous--easily enough to share between two, or even four. We ended up eating quite a bit, which worked well since it's healthy, low-carb, and filling enough that I didn't feel the need to order edamame again for the rest of the tri. 8-) The space includes smaller seating areas with sofas and tables that feel more like living rooms than a typical bar. Our waiter was very kind and personable, often squatting down to speak with us and nearby tables. I genuinely admired his flexibility and stamina. On some evenings, there is live music as well, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely, picturesque, romantic and a great date spot. Our cocktails were very good and the sushi roll (Pele's fire?) delicious. The barkeeps were friendly and made our time here fun. Pilina got dinged a star because even with a generous kama'aina discount, it was quite pricey. We will return for a special occasion, and I must take Nancy here.

Greatest views , new menu and wait staff are friendly. Don't forget they offer kama'aina discount too. We had edamame, sashimi and the rainbow sushi. The wine list has changed but still good selections of notable wines. They added different specialty drinks that tingled our taste buds. One of our favorite places to grab a bite at sunset on Maui.

Took a cocktail mixology class at Pilina and had a blast. My husband doesn't drink alcohol and they were able to modify it to a mocktail version. Drinks were delicious, bartenders were very knowledgeable, and I love that they use local ingredients.

    Salt & pepper mushrooms divine

Outstanding sushi experience. Surpasses Nobu & Oao in my opinion. Ambiance is without question, superb', service, same. Kristin's service was spot on as was Leslie's the bartender. Ask for her & you'll never be disappointed.

The food was perfect. We got the sliders, soft bun with amazing flavor. We also got the makena roll, the rice to fish ratio was great. Ivan was an excellent server. He was Very welcoming and always so attentive. The place was beautiful architecture, it was giving Greece (Santorini like). We walked around the lobby and checked out the Hotel pool before walking In. There is no welcome guest or hostess. You just walk in and find a seat then greeted by a server. Can't wait to go back to drink and eat more from their menu. Also beautiful sunset!

If you are looking for a cocktail hour or even cocktails before dinner, I would highly recommend going to Pilina as the customer service, food/drinks, as well as the views were simply amazing! Pilina is located inside of the Fairmount Kea Lani. It is a bit harder to find if you are not a guest, so I would suggest asking someone where to go as it is a bit of a walk once you arrive inside. After reviewing the menu, we decided to go with their California Roll as a an appetizer and Butterfly for a King, and Tropics in Bloom for our drink selections and here is what we thought and how we rate it: California Roll 5/5: This roll features a crab mix made mostly of perfectly cooked crab. Not only is the crab inside the roll, but there's also a generous serving layered on top. The flavor was superb, showing how a simple roll can shine with the right twist. It was easily the most satisfying California roll we've ever had thanks to the amount of crab, and for the price, it's an absolute must-try. Butterfly For a King 5/5: This is a fun vacation take on an old fashion that can allow anyone to enjoy it. As a part time an old fashion drinker (thanks to my boyfriend) this was a tropical twist on a drink he loves. The whiskey is slightly hidden behind the strawberry, orange, and lemon flavors allowing you to enjoy while taking in the lovely venue and views of the ocean. It was the perfect drink for cocktail hour. Tropics in Bloom 5/5: This cocktail captured the feeling of being on vacation! It's a refreshing spin on a fruity martini, elevated with floral notes. The Maui hibiscus adds the perfect touch, balancing the sweetness with subtle, fragrant undertones.

However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. That being said, I would be willing to give the restaurant another chance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: 6.21.26 I appreciate the response. It's telling that you addressed the air conditioning, disputed the gender of an employee, and questioned whether I was even there, yet didn't meaningfully respond to the concerns about service, timing, attentiveness, or food quality. If a customer leaves with a poor experience, the question isn't whether they perfectly recalled every detail. The question is why they left with that impression in the first place. I suspect future readers can draw their own conclusions from both the review and the response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most disappointing dining experience of our Hawaii trip. We specifically asked to sit indoors because we wanted a break from the Maui heat after spending the day outside. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.

Unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing experience we've had. Looking back, we probably should have asked to speak with a manager while we were there, but after everything that happened, we simply felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I'll start with the positives because there were several. The drinks were delicious, the sea bass was excellent, and the dessert was absolutely incredible. The pasta itself was a little overcooked and soggy, but the flavor was still very good. The disappointing part of our evening was the service. After our server initially introduced herself, it took quite a while before she returned to take our drink order. When we were ready to order dinner, my husband was still deciding between a couple of menu items. Rather than giving him another moment, our server became visibly impatient and said she would come back after delivering our drinks. It ended up being more than 10 minutes before she returned. When I asked whether the entrees came with bread, her response made me feel embarrassed for even asking. Since they didn't, we ordered the biscuits as an appetizer to enjoy while waiting for our meals. Our children's meals arrived promptly, which we appreciated. However, our server never once stopped by to see if the kids needed anything. I had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. Meanwhile, our server walked past our table several times without checking on us or asking if we'd like another round of drinks--which we actually would have ordered. When our entrees arrived, the biscuits still hadn't come out. Shortly afterward, our server finally checked on us. I let her know that since our meals had already arrived, we no longer needed the biscuits and simply asked that they not be included on the bill. Her response was, "Well, they're made fresh and in the oven now. I guess I can go tell the kitchen you don't want them anymore." I replied, "They were supposed to be our appetizer, and our meals are already here now." Before I could even finish my sentence, she walked away while I was still speaking and appeared to mumble something under her breath. That interaction left my husband and me feeling shocked and disappointed. We've dined at many restaurants over the years and have never felt spoken to in that manner. We had considered asking to speak with a manager at that point, but honestly, we just wanted to finish our meal and leave without any further uncomfortable interactions. This was especially disappointing because Tommy Bahama has always been one of our favorite restaurants and a place we genuinely look forward to visiting whenever we're in Hawaii. We hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, because the food continues to be wonderful--the service simply did not match the quality we've come to expect.

Suggested tip is 25%, that's a huge red flag! Lahaina Brewing purchased Kohola brewing about one year ago. How I wish I had visited before that, because looking at historical Yelp reviews, the previous food offerings look SO much more interesting and were made with local and traditional products. Now what you get is $11 spam musubi, a pretzel that has both fish roe and sugary syrup on it (gross!) for $21, pseudo-Niçoise salad for $28 (WTF!), and imported shrimp cocktail for $5 a shrimp. Piss off! Even the server said it was a total rip-off. The menu is massively disappointing for those who actually have a frame of reference. Good thing we only came for beer. Tried the Kohola beer in Makawao and was very impressed. The Tall Story Pale Ale is really excellent, gold standard for pale ale, but you don't have to come here to enjoy it. Happy Hour is 2-5 p.m., $2 off Kohola draft and $4 off a glass of wine. Regular price beer is $8.50, fairly standard price. Unlike others, we had a good service experience. The ambience is comfortable, but I still would not return.
