6.22.26 UPDATE We…read moreoriginally had a disappointing experience due to slow service, limited attention from staff, and the lack of air conditioning during our visit. However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. That being said, I would be willing to give the restaurant another chance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: 6.21.26 I appreciate the response. It's telling that you addressed the air conditioning, disputed the gender of an employee, and questioned whether I was even there, yet didn't meaningfully respond to the concerns about service, timing, attentiveness, or food quality. If a customer leaves with a poor experience, the question isn't whether they perfectly recalled every detail. The question is why they left with that impression in the first place. I suspect future readers can draw their own conclusions from both the review and the response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most disappointing dining experience of our Hawaii trip. We specifically asked to sit indoors because we wanted a break from the Maui heat after spending the day outside. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.

I ordered the Creole pasta, scallop sliders, and the cast iron cornbread, and everything was so good. The Creole pasta had the perfect amount of spice and flavor without being too heavy. The scallop sliders were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. And the cast iron cornbread... warm, buttery, slightly sweet, and served in the skillet, definitely a must order. Great food, great service, and the perfect spot for a relaxed late lunch. I'll definitely be back.

Tonight we visited Tommy Bahama, a restaurant we make a point to visit at least once every time…read morewe're on the Big Island or Maui. Unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing experience we've had. Looking back, we probably should have asked to speak with a manager while we were there, but after everything that happened, we simply felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I'll start with the positives because there were several. The drinks were delicious, the sea bass was excellent, and the dessert was absolutely incredible. The pasta itself was a little overcooked and soggy, but the flavor was still very good. The disappointing part of our evening was the service. After our server initially introduced herself, it took quite a while before she returned to take our drink order. When we were ready to order dinner, my husband was still deciding between a couple of menu items. Rather than giving him another moment, our server became visibly impatient and said she would come back after delivering our drinks. It ended up being more than 10 minutes before she returned. When I asked whether the entrees came with bread, her response made me feel embarrassed for even asking. Since they didn't, we ordered the biscuits as an appetizer to enjoy while waiting for our meals. Our children's meals arrived promptly, which we appreciated. However, our server never once stopped by to see if the kids needed anything. I had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. Meanwhile, our server walked past our table several times without checking on us or asking if we'd like another round of drinks--which we actually would have ordered. When our entrees arrived, the biscuits still hadn't come out. Shortly afterward, our server finally checked on us. I let her know that since our meals had already arrived, we no longer needed the biscuits and simply asked that they not be included on the bill. Her response was, "Well, they're made fresh and in the oven now. I guess I can go tell the kitchen you don't want them anymore." I replied, "They were supposed to be our appetizer, and our meals are already here now." Before I could even finish my sentence, she walked away while I was still speaking and appeared to mumble something under her breath. That interaction left my husband and me feeling shocked and disappointed. We've dined at many restaurants over the years and have never felt spoken to in that manner. We had considered asking to speak with a manager at that point, but honestly, we just wanted to finish our meal and leave without any further uncomfortable interactions. This was especially disappointing because Tommy Bahama has always been one of our favorite restaurants and a place we genuinely look forward to visiting whenever we're in Hawaii. We hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, because the food continues to be wonderful--the service simply did not match the quality we've come to expect.

I give LB five stars for the combination of great value and terrific food. Our family of four…read morereally enjoyed our evening here--it was a well needed respite from the overpriced fancy menus of the various resort restaurants down the hill. We started with the spam and unagi musabi, which is cut in half and a bit messy for four to share but perfect for two. It was delicious! We also had the poke nachos which had plenty of fresh ahi piled on. My wife and I split a smash burger deluxe style--one of the best burgers I've had for a while. The boys split fish tacos, which they devoured with enthusiasm. We had two sides of fries for the four of us, which was more than enough. The server was helpful and efficient. We had the tasting flight, and all five beers were excellent. Can't wait to come back!

Suggested tip is 25%, that's a huge red flag! Lahaina Brewing purchased Kohola brewing about one year ago. How I wish I had visited before that, because looking at historical Yelp reviews, the previous food offerings look SO much more interesting and were made with local and traditional products. Now what you get is $11 spam musubi, a pretzel that has both fish roe and sugary syrup on it (gross!) for $21, pseudo-Niçoise salad for $28 (WTF!), and imported shrimp cocktail for $5 a shrimp. Piss off! Even the server said it was a total rip-off. The menu is massively disappointing for those who actually have a frame of reference. Good thing we only came for beer. Tried the Kohola beer in Makawao and was very impressed. The Tall Story Pale Ale is really excellent, gold standard for pale ale, but you don't have to come here to enjoy it. Happy Hour is 2-5 p.m., $2 off Kohola draft and $4 off a glass of wine. Regular price beer is $8.50, fairly standard price. Unlike others, we had a good service experience. The ambience is comfortable, but I still would not return.

For some reason, the couple with no reservation was seated before us and we did not get seated until about 10 mins after our reservation time while the couple ahead of us got seated within 5 mins of arriving. It made no sense to me and we were all seated inside. I would've thought we would've been seated before a walk-in. We also saw other smaller groups that arrived after us get seated before us. I make it a point because these were groups of like 3 or 4 and when we finally did get seated, we were seated in a table for 4. As the food, it is expensive for the portion of food you get. The food was good, but not something I would go out of my way to experience again. The drinks were fine, but nothing too memorable. The mai tai was good, but I think the lilikoi foam made the drink more delicious than a usual mai tai. The smoke screen was average but was lacking the smokiness taste that mezcal usually has. Overall, it's not decent place to try if you're in the Wailea or Kihei area but for the price point, I rather go to Roy's. Just don't expect your reservation to be honored because they'll sit people on a first come, first serve basis.
