Spago at the four seasons in Wailea was very busy. We went around 6 PM for dinner. It's a beautiful outdoor/indoor setting, but the sun is in your eyes if you are there before sunset. It's also very busy so the noise level is pretty high. The seating overlooks the pool area in the courtyard so it's interesting and very nice to look at. The menu had a good variety of appetizers and entrées. Seemed a bit pricey for the size of the dishes, but it is a upscale restaurant. Nothing on the entree menu caught our eyes so we just did pupus and shared everything. The ahi cones were amazing!!! I could easily eat 10 of those, probably one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. The lobster ceviche came with a good amount of lobster, I'm quite surprised and it was delicious. The hotate scallops also did come with a good amount of scallops and was a little spicy, but just how I like it. The burrata and mango salad was underwhelming. We did order the Ahi Tataki as an entrée to share and it was pretty pretty well, could have used more seasoning on the sear. The miso butterfish was nice and moist. The service was great each staff member attended to us in more often than we needed. The Japanese chef personally came to our table to see how our meal was and recommended that we asked for Kamaaina discount because clearly we were local, which was nice of him to drop that tip in. Our dining experience was exceptional! My husband had the pork chop and I had the chicken and both dishes were so flavorful! We started with a nice bottle of wine as we enjoyed the sunset, then we had their amazing poke cones, followed by dinner and a Mango Soufflé that was out of this world!!! Spago Maui delivers on atmosphere right away the view alone is worth the reservation. Watching the sunset from the terrace makes you feel like you're sitting in a postcard. The food was a bit of a mixed bag the macadamia nut-crusted mahi looked promising but didn't quite hit the mark for me. The service was excellent throughout, attentive without being overbearing. Where the kitchen really shines, though, is in the desserts. That course easily stole the show and wrapped the evening on a high note. read more

I've been going to Spago in Maui for 10 years or longer. Probably been there 10 times. It had always great with a good ambience and tasty food. I have never, ever experienced such a rude and condescending server in my life. It was honestly embarrassing for my entire party. The situation became so uncomfortable that I had to go to the front and ask for a change of service. I've been dining at Spago restaurants for as long as I can remember, and I have never had such a poor experience. If someone truly hates hospitality, they should pursue a different profession--it makes no sense to ruin the evening of paying customers with unnecessary attitude and sass. What made this even more concerning was that my allergy was completely ignored. After clearly mentioning it, I was still served a dish full of cilantro. When I tried to address it, he wouldn't even come to the table--I had to call out across the table. His response was, "Oh well, what do you want me to do about it?" Which I responded to oh well are you going to fix it? And he said nothing but rudely snatch the plate out of me and kept murmuring homophobic slurs This level of service is unacceptable, especially for a restaurant with Spago's reputation. We came here during our honeymoon to celebrate finding out that I passed the bar exam, and both agreed that this was the best meal of our lives. It was also great to watch the sunset from the outdoor seating-- I would definitely recommend starting your dinner a little earlier so you can watch it for longer. We ate every piece of food and were absolutely stuffed afterwards, but it was so worth it. Our waiter sold us on the appetizer and main entree specials, and both were great. Not only did he modify the menu to fit our serious dietary restrictions, but everything he recommended and prepared for us was another level delicious. From the minute we arrived, Max at the host stand was so friendly and accommodating for the table we "thought" we wanted. Per usual for Maui, the wind had kicked up and we requested a different table. The whole staff seemed to work together to accommodate us. They found us the most perfect table inside , corner surrounded by windows. We were SO happy with our new table....the chef then sent out a wonderful scallop crudo that was to die for! Attentive and helpful service, per usual for a restaurant at the Four Seasons. My only complaint is that they run out of the lobster entrees so I was not able to try the lobster pasta during our 8 pm reservation. Just like at Mina's Fish House next to Aulani, they ran out of the lobster pot pie when we dined at 8 pm. We like to eat later because we can enjoy the pool and the beach but be aware that these restaurants can run out of popular items. The restaurant is just beautiful. We started the meal with a lobster ceviche, Thai style, with a papaya salad on top. Think papaya salad with lobster in it. I had the mushroom pasta, which was just the best mushroom pasta you can ever have. My dining companion had the curry, which she said was the best she's ever had. I'm not much of a curry person, it tasted kind of sweet to me. But the waiter did say that it's an explosion of flavors in your mouth, so if you're into curry, I'm sure you will love it. read more

Absolutely fantastic. Amazing attentiveness from our server, Cooper. First off, the restaurant is visually amazing; it incorporates the natural beauty of Maui looking across to the next island over, Lanai. Hold onto your hats, it's windy, but worth the view. We saw at least one recognizable celebrity while there as well. it is, after all, Spago at the Four Seasons in Maui. We were nervous about the prices on the menu living up to the quality they should command, Spago passed with flying colors. The hamachi tostada was sashimi perfection, but tiny for the $36 price tag. The gnocchi appetizer was surprisingly a "showstopper" (my wife's words). She got the Thai Curry, I got the Onaga done Hong Kong style, a very delicate whitefish perfectly cooked and so fresh I'm sure it was swimming around this morning. I was extremely impressed. The side of Japanese eggplant was slightly crispy and caramelized, a perfect complement to the entrees. They kindly brought out what I'd describe as a "gourmet ice cream sandwich", with coconut ice cream between two cookie-like wafers and a delightful dark chocolate sauce. This was on the house for our anniversary dinner. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The cocktails were inventive but fell short of the $21-25 commanded. We got a table outside but it was high wind so we requested a table inside. The staff was helpful and found us a table inside. We got a big eye tuna poke, came in 3 small cones . It was tasty . Got a miso marinated walu . I did not taste any hint of miso and the fish is a little dry inside. My husband ordered crusted mahi . It was pretty bland but I thought the presentation was very nice. The side of fries came in huge portion and was very good. Service was a little slow. Our food took a long time to come out. I was a guest at corporate event. This is the second time I've been to Spago's. It's a very luxurious place location, landscape views from the bar are outstanding. I saw two types of guests at the restaurant and bar, The beautiful people who want to be in a beautiful environment and the people that can afford to be there. Somehow I slipped in between the two. I was treated nicely by the staff. Service with them was unhurried the setting on the table we're of good quality. The chairs are comfortable. The drinks are strong so one is probably enough and two is certainly enough. I had an old fashion and a special mai tai both you need both tasty. Now onto the food lions mane pasta, wonderful salmon, and steak. I think it was a king salmon, and it was very mild. The steak was absolutely fantastic. I ended it with a Backed Haleakala, which was a caramelize shell that looks like the dirt up in Haleakala with some very tasty ice cream inside. Came here during a trip to Maui. I was super excited to visit this resort, as White Lotus season 1 was filmed here! There is free parking in their garage, which is a short 2-3 minute walk from the entrance to the hotel. Valet parking is also offered. The restaurant is to your immediate left as you enter. The views of the ocean and particularly the sunset are stunning. Service was excellent, very respectful, informative, and friendly. I very much appreciated the attention to detail (ie: the server informed me it would be 25 min for the entree, as I did not order an appetizer). The 2 forms of bread were excellent - I preferred the focaccia, and the accompanying butter and salt was also exquisite. I thought the thai seafood curry was outstanding. The fish was so fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced. Their 1944 mai tai was as beautiful as it was tasty. Tried a few bites of their heirloom tomato salad, which was refreshing. Unfortunately, I did not have much of an appetite and was unable to try any of their other dishes. Hope to be back one day! read more

Our server, David, at Spago tonight reminded me how complimentary a good waiter can be. Our table was very much in the spirit to let someone take the reigns on the entire meal. From "Rolling Fog on Mount Fuji" to the soufflé pancake at the end, we had a perfect and unique meal. It's nice to find the things that make a restaurant unique. I've been to other spago in other locations. Spago never ceases to amaze me. The food is fresh and good. The service ia good and my server was nice and attentive. The steak was extremely fatty with huge globs of fat taking up almost all the steak. I have dined at this restaurant before ordering the same dish and it was just terrible today.
