Spicy Pineapple Mochiko Chicken

I got the spicy pineapple chicken, mini size. I asked for it on a salad, but it seems the salad option is only for the regular size. He still threw a salad in there for me though. The chicken itself was crispy, moist, and tender - just lovely, but the spicy pineapple flavor wasn't really coming through. I do eat a lot of szechuan, indian, and thai food though, so my frame of reference for spicy food is a bit skewed.

The Hurricane Poke Nachos were killer!! Absolutely delicious. Definitely a little on the pricier side, but still so good.

All the tables were full of tourist families - it was good vibes, the tables separated by white sheer curtains giving it a little elegance. But there was really terrible cheesey top 40 radio playing which offset everything and was a little distracting for me tbh I got the Crab cake app - it deep fried with lots of filler. Not amazing. There was a lot of mahi on the menu! Their liquor selection was more limited than I'd think - so I skipped a cocktail. I got the Mac crusted mahi - sadly it was flavorless and the sauce was cold. "Vegetables"were 1 piece of bok choy and 1 carrot Grateful the Brownie dessert was the star of the show. Not sure I'd be back but am glad I went.

BUT, seafood here is over the top, my wife had a white fish like ONO, but too long a name to spell. Over mashed potatoes and grilled veges Mine was Blackened and seared Ahi over sticky rice and asparagus spears. We both had a nice small Caesar. The sushi bar no longer is here. Completely removed and replaced with about a dozen or more tables for four. Really , if you want a treat at sunset , come here. Great service.

Okay, I could eat here daily…read more The line was long, but it gave us plenty of time to study their billboard-sized menu. We ordered the two fish tacos and an order of coconut shrimp. The fish tacos were massive. The fish had good flavor, although it leaned a little on the dry side for me. The coconut shrimp, however, were my favorite thing we tried. Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We happened to arrive between their two happy hour windows, and while looking at the menu, we noticed that coconut shrimp were also available during the second happy hour along with other small plates. What I found odd was their happy hour policy. Apparently, you can only order from the happy hour menu if you've already purchased an entree and can show your receipt. I've never encountered that anywhere else, and it seemed like a strange business concept. Also, it is not posted anywhere that I saw. When my husband went back to order from the happy hour menu, the cashier asked if we had previously ordered food. He said yes, but our receipt was back at the table. For some reason, she had to go to the back to get approval before allowing him to order. It felt a bit awkward, especially since she was the same cashier who had taken our original order when we first arrived and we asked a bunch of questions, so I would def remember someone like me. lol That policy aside, the coconut shrimp were fantastic. I'd definitely come back for those alone.

My husband and I thought we ordered a reasonable amount of food and quickly realized we may have gotten a little too ambitious. Everything tasted fresh and comforting, and it was exactly the kind of breakfast we wanted before a full day of exploring the island. The staff was friendly, service moved quickly despite how busy it was, and the atmosphere felt very local and welcoming. There are a lot of breakfast spots on Maui, but I can see why this place is always recommended. If you're visiting, it's definitely worth stopping by at least once. Just don't make the same mistake we did and over-order... although I can't say I regret it.
