12 piece omakase nigiri sushi (including toro, tai marinated in yuzu, and uni).
    John A.

A must visit every single time I am on Maui. Koiso = oishi! Call on the first day of the month prior to the month in which you would like a reservation. 12 piece omakase nigiri sushi for $58 is a steal especially for this level of quality and the skill of the chef/owner. I'll be back!

First time visiting this sushi bar and will be my final time. Customer service was terrible. 1. Reservation was set for 730pm didn't get seated til almost 8pm. I had to get the host attention at the door to seat me. Mind you my reservation was only for one person which was me. Once i confronted the hostess about my reservation and clearly told her I made a reservation she proceeded to give me a paper to write down my information and tell me "we're completely booked" when clearly there was one empty chair. Ps i was the only minority (latino) in the restaurant besides the owners (yikes) 2. The one woman who is the waitress she only tended to me twice mind you i sat there for almost an hour and half lol. She only asked what i wanted to drink and what i would like to eat then provided me my food and check that was it. 3. The sushi was mid it didn't melt in your mouth. personally I had better sushi else where. Overall I would never eat here again. if you are a regular and "white" sure go ahead but if you are latino like me Idk I just felt I wasn't treated as well as the others.

Wow this place is Amazingggg. The best sushi I've ever had in my entire life. The fish is so fresh, melts in your mouth, and it's all paired so beautifully. I suggest getting the chefs special that way you get a taste of everything. I don't think you can get anything bad here. The restaurant itself is very small, personal, and mellow. It's very romantic. It's a little tricky to get a reservation as you have to call and plan about a month ahead. But overall I would suggest this place to anyone

We made our reservation 1 month in advance. Although arriving on time, there was a 15 minute wait. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, with a cozy lit bar that seats 10, it set the perfect tone for the evening. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food they were serving. The sushi was exceptional, each piece was expertly prepared by the kind, elderly owner. Obviously fresh, and beautifully presented. The chef's selection omakase was a standout, offering a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Each piece tasted like butter! This place is a true gem for sushi lovers and anyone who appreciates high-quality, authentic Japanese cuisine. I'll definitely be back and recommending it to all my friends!

Dear Chef Hiro-san, Koisi Sushi Bar was a sublime experience. We ordered the 69 roll, the spicy tuna roll, a rainbow roll, and a salmon avocado roll. Thanks to your hospitable wife and other serving staff, our drinks were served to us alongside a complimentary order of edamame. Thank you! I loved the intimate seating and cool Maui vibe of your lovely establishment. The 69 roll was melt in your mouth savory. It was my favorite of the night. The spicy tuna roll was flavorful and fresh. I loved the lack of sauces as it let the tuna play the starring role. The rainbow roll had plenty of fish eggs in top which added a salty crunch to the bites. The salmon avocado roll was incredible too. You made a salmon fan out of me. The sushi was so fresh and vivid I kept eating so I could stay in these edible moments as long as possible. The fruit palette cleanser was also appreciated. It is with gratitude I express our immense appreciation for our dinner. We will always visit when we come to Maui. With warmth and light, Jacque and Joe

I would highly recommend Koiso! It is a restaurant ran by three people. They ONLY take reservations so make sure to make them ahead of time - they also fill up very quickly so sometimes you need to make them months in advance. The quality of the food was amazing, I would highly recommend getting the omakase - it's very worth it at it's price. Some of the other side dishes that we ordered were also very good such as the ankimo and hamachi kama. The actual restaurant itself only seats ~15 people and is very intimate.

Thank you Chef Hiro-san and Chef Hiro-san's wife. I am so grateful that I had the chance to experience this sushi bar, the food, the service and the environment. Anthony Bourdain has also visited this sushi bar - that should say enough. I ordered the Blue fin Chu-toro, salmon, California roll, spicy tuna roll and 69 roll, and miso soup. They provided a complimentary salted edamame and fresh fruit as desserts afterwards. What can I say, the sushi does not get any fresher than this. The quality, care and art that Chef Hiro puts in all the orders is amazing. If you can, I would advise sitting by the bar. This is a less 15 sushi bar seater. You must have a reservation and you must call to get this reservation. I highly suggest doing so months in advance. This is so far at the top of my list for the best sushi places I have visited. I've tasted numerous AYCE and Non-AYCE in and out of Vegas. It has been almost a week since leaving Maui and everyday I wish I can walk into Koiso and eat their Sushi.

Hiro is lit the 12-piece omakase is you for sure need a reservation (like a month in advance at least) the staff are fun and nice, the store is a cute small sushi spot. definitely worth the $$$. next time I visit, I'll try non-omakase items to see what else is tasty

Two Japanese men greeted us and took our order. We ordered our meals and sat down in the open outdoor seating. They didn't have Coke Zero/Diet Coke so we had to go to the convenient store down the road. Our food came out and it was amazing! 4/5 Chicken kaarage - just the right amount of salt and pepper and served with rice, a green salad and pasta salad. The salads weren't really necessary but the chicken was great! So good! 5/5 Yellowtail jalapeño Roll - the roll was amazing! Served with wasabi and picketed ginger and presented beautifully with lettuce and some pineapple. The fish tasted so fresh! 5/5 Spicy tuna roll - I was expecting minded spicy tuna so having slices of tuna was very unexpected. Also served with lettuce and pineapple, the fish tarred so fresh! We were so glad to have tried this place. It's pretty legit and I highlyyyy recommend! Aquick note on the bathroom. It's across the parking lot and there was a key and I had to borrow a flashlight. There was nothing particulalry creative about the nigiri, and it wasnt technically outstanding, either - one of us found a scale and another a bone. It simply wasnt worth the price, even on Maui. We ordered 3 items from the Happy Hour Menu: Tuna Crunch, Sunomono, and Kimchi Dip. Tuna Crunch and Sunomono was my favorite. The Tuna Crunch had garlic chips, chili crunch, and ponzu sauce poured over table side. The Sunomono looked simple with a stack of cucumbers but it also had the most addictive sauce of Garlic Tamari, Chili Crunch and Micro Cilantro. The Kimchi Dip was delicious but I'm not a huge fan of Yorkshire Puddings and would rather had crostini's or bread for dipping. My cousin ordered an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan and he said the drinks were made real good. Another cousin and I opted for Alcohol free drinks, my cousin had one with grapefruit and I enjoyed my "martini" with mango and lilikoi (passion fruit). The Signature Sushi Rolls were delicious. We shared the Anuenue (Rainbow) which included Crab, Ahi, Salmon, Hamachi and Ebi and the Nani (Beautiful) which included Spicy Salmon, Cucumber, Avocado, Yakiniku Sauce, Sweet Soy and Micro Greens. We also ordered the Katsu Pork Belly which our bartender recommended. There's 6 crispy pieces atop Rice, Katsu Sauce, Cabbage and Japanese Curry Mayo. My cousin got the Hot Rock Maui Nui Venison Striploin which was cooked on the Hot Rock for 15 seconds per side and served with 4 Homemade Tortillas and Shiso Chimichurri.
