Quality food, service, and bar-like ambiance. Oao Sushi is definitely not a place for the norm to enjoy; however, it does come with a financial cost. The rolls my friend and I got were great -- can't go wrong with soft shell crab and a rainbow roll to try tuna, yellowfin, salmon, and more. Like all seafood places in Maui, the fish quality is emaculate. The price here was less justified in my opinion considering you get less fish for a higher price. I would recommend someone go get poke instead of rolls here if there was the chance to. The service was smooth and the owner kept checking up on my friend and I. Pretty grateful for the service. The ambiance was refreshing considering my friend and I got seated at the bar side and could see the fish slicing in action. Purely considering my satisfaction per dollar, I would say I wouldn't go here considering the high price of food. Definitely not a bad place to go, but I would put this place as a backup before other options.

The sushi was so good! My favorite was the salmon aburi roll. I think the pricing is pretty fair, but if you go during happy hour it's like 30% off or so, but definitely worth it! Our waiter was so friendly and funny when he was checking on us! Told us to try the tuna Kizami wasabi roll next time. We hope to get him again as our waiter too! We sat outside and it was nice and cool out for lunch and it was spacious enough to talk amongst friends. Definitely recommend!

We have been to this restaurant before when we visited Maui and it has absolutely outstanding sushi. The restaurant has a very nice casual upbeat vibe. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and unlike many sushi restaurants where you wait for a long time to get your food, the food came out very quickly. In addition to nigiri and sashimi, which was very fresh, we had several specialty rolls, including the white dragon roll and the firecracker roll, both were exceptionally good. Also, we happened to be fortunate enough to be eating during happy hour so the prices are slightly less than regular menu prices which is always a plus. While prices are not inexpensive, it's totally worth the price. This is a must go to place for sushi in Maui and was worth the hour drive from where we were staying.

Oao Sushi Go has a limited selection, but each item has its own special identity. Packed full of flavor, well balanced, and the freshest you can get. Oao Sushi is providing a new wave of creating deicious sushi amd bringing it to your table. Service is great and staff members are friendly. Interior is very clean and organized. I recommend there lava roll and deep friend ice ceam. A must try when you visit the island of Maui

Vacationing in Hawaii and found this place on Yelp. In the Target Shopping center off to the side. Clean inside and Fast Service. Food came out quick and delicious.

This review is for the food truck location. They have a sit down place with a full bar not far from here. Fresh, delicious, melt in your mouth sashimi. Imaginative rolls. Sit at picnic tables under pop-ups. Stayed in Napili but made the drive. Nearby beaches can have rough waves.

overall i had an okay experience at oao. food was good, but portions were small for the price. this place looks very high-end/fancy! we went for my friend's birthday and they came out with a complimentary dessert! nice place, but maybe not for me.

Currently my favorite spot on Maui for Sushi! First tried their sushi through their food truck that was in Kihei a couple years ago, and I couldn't believe the quality that came out from that food truck lol. Visited their wailea location and it was just as great, but it was so busy. Now they have their location here in Kahului and it's perfect! Service is quick, great happy hour, ambiance is lively, very clean, workers are so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back again soon!

I was a little skeptical getting sushi from a food truck, and frankly my skepticism was correct. The speciality rolls are $20+. I ordered two of them, can't remember which ones unfortunately. The rolls themselves just weren't great. They didn't taste bad, but honestly didn't taste good either. There wasn't really much flavor at all. They also didn't come with anything to actually pour soy sauce into, which made things a little difficult. I did order some salmon nigiri, which was actually quite large, and was ultimately probably a little better than the rolls.

Went here today for lunch. Have been wanting to try them out since they opened this location. I have been to the Wailea location before and have tried them as a food truck. The service was very good we were greeted at the front door and seated right away. Then our waiter came over and checked on us to see if we wanted anything besides water. It was nice because it seemed like everyone there were working together. The food was good the ambiance was nice. I Definitely like the variety of places to eat. On this trip we ordered the Brussel sprouts,Hamachi carpaccio, Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll, Baked Mussels. We enjoyed everything. My favorite was the Hamachi carpaccio , we also had a roll with hamachi and jalapeños. Which was delicious. The soft shell crab hand roll was a decent sized hand roll. So keep that in mind when ordering. Will definitely be back to try out some other menu items.

Overall had a great time! The service was good and the food came out pretty quick. Really good for a date night if you feel like treating yourself. Also the location is convenient since it's nearby target. Tried lots of rolls and items on the menu my favorites were the seafood dynamite, soft shell crab roll, and a salmon roll I don't remember the name of. The food tasted good and was high quality i got more than what i expected.

We tried the Unagi Donburi, Shrimp Donburi, Samurai Roll, California Roll, Gyoza, and Cucumber Salad. The donburi does not have the egg mixture over the rice so they are more like bowls. The rice is really fluffy and it also comes with an avocado salad. The shrimp is cooked tempura style and is crispy and yummy. The unagi was grilled and tasty too. The sushi is really good and fresh. We enjoyed the gyoza and the cucumber salad was sliced super thin and so refreshing. The food reminded us of the food we ate in Japan and tasted authentic. The flavors are subtle but flavorful. The prices are what you would typically pay in a Japanese restaurant. It's nice to have another good option for Japanese food on Maui!

Located on the food truck lot across Costco. We tried the unagi donburi & gyoza. The donburi is served with an avocado salad. Unagi was well seasoned with a tasty sauce. The gyoza was nice & crispy & served with a sweeter sauce. Filling was good & pretty generous. Pricing was reasonable. There was a bit of a wait, which is understandable for this type of food, so plan accordingly. Definitely need to come back & try the sushi!

The Ahi Katsu was next level -- perfectly crisp on the outside, tender and flavorful inside. The combination of their house-made aioli, katsu sauce, and unagi sauce was to die for. Every bite had the perfect balance of texture and richness. I also loved the Agedashi Eggplant. I'm usually not a big fan of bonita flakes or that smoky flavor profile, but they executed it beautifully -- light, balanced, and not overpowering at all. Total winner. On top of the amazing food, the service was fantastic and we even scored perfect parking, which always feels like a bonus. This newer open-concept location has a tight 10 stall parking lot with overflow parking across the street. It upgraded their sushi bar into a 12 foot sleek concrete dining row with 9 barstools. The open air dining room has several tables that can be put together for parties of 8. When we dined there it was very busy. I spoke to our young server who almost seemed overwhelmed with tables. Although she did a great job juggling her guests. She recited specials of the night and we ordered a fair amount of dishes for our large party. Umi combines modern local dishes with Japanese flavors, sashimi and sushi rolls. Several dishes utilize the deep fat fryer for textures and depth. We had a good variety: Agedashi Eggplant very crispy and flavorful spices and a dashi sauce that kept its crispness. Calamari Salad and Calamari had crispy tendrils of squid legs with a sauce that tied it together. Panko Breaded Pork Belly served with a thick Katsu Sauce was decadent. Fried Nabeta was entirely edible and very crispy. Large bed of rice, puréed ginger, and a delicate dashi-soy sauce. Truffle Edamame and Sushi rolls were good. Tuna bolognese with spaghetti in a light tomato sauce. Oyster shooters had a good proportion of spiciness with a raw oyster. The special Modern Sushi brought 5 Goteburg Sausage Rolls, an inverted Musubi with salty fried sausage encasing rice. Many folks bring coolers of beer or wine to complement the food. Service was efficient even though the restaurant was filled.
