Rainbow roll

YES! YES! YES! Finally tried Oku's. So glad I did! The outside looks very simple. The inside is very simple. But the food was absolutely fresh, delectable and heavenly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The price is reasonable and the ambience, very comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are only 6 tables, and after treating the reviews, we came early at 3pm, so we didn't have to wait in line. And gladly, it wasn't busy at all!!! Perfect time for early dinner. Love love love the dynamite scallops, and ordered a second dish of combination dynamite (scallops and shrimp). The salmon sushi was so delicious, and so was the Unagi roll . My most favorite is the Hamachi poke. Extremely scrumptious! And the rice.... Simple deliciousness!!! Unlike any rice. I wonder if they import the rice from Japan??? Or what is on the rice???!!! Yes, recommend this place if you like authentic Japanese food!!!

Nigiri

6 tables, authentic sushi. Soft tasty pieces of fish served with humility. So good. There's 8 tables and the sushi bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just no AC.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Hotate yellowtail and maguro nigiri

Love sushi and have had some delicious sushi all over the world including Japan, and this was some of the freshest sushi I've ever had! Had nigiri (hotate, hamachi, and maguro) as well as the spicy yellowtail roll. All was super delicious and fresh. One of my kids got the Japanese chicken curry and loved it. Service was fast and friendly. They made sure our water glass was full. Just one server and one sushi chef but still got our food pretty quickly. Came on a Friday night around 3:45 and no issues getting a table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean and tidy space with room for maybe 16 people total plus I think some bar seats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you like fresh sushi, this is the place for you!

Delicious!!! Very small mom/pop operation close to south Maui Gardens. We popped in for a "light" lunch around 12:15. It's first come, first serve so get there early. Very fresh sashimi and nigiri, presentation was outstanding, and price point for portion was great. My only regret is that we hadn't tried this place out earlier in our vacation, we would've eaten there twice! Closed Sun/Mom. BYOB

We've been to Oku's Sushi a few times now and it's always amazing! The sushi is super fresh and flavorful, our favorites are the Amaebi nigiri, Tamago, spicy tuna roll, Unagi Donburi, Dynamite combo, and Ikura. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy little spot, family-run, fair prices, and BYOB which is a big plus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is limited, but totally worth it every time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Kihea Roll

Everything was incredible. Loved the yellowtail and kihea rolls. 100% recommend, best sushi in Kihea!!

Originally from California and having spent three weeks in Japan, I can confidently say this is one of the best hole-in-the-wall sushi spots I've found since returning. If you're impatient, this might not be the place for you--but if you appreciate true sushi craftsmanship and the artistry of food, make sure to stop here. The restaurant is run by an older couple, and they are an absolute delight. I was blown away by how fresh and impeccably cut the sashimi was. The ginger and wasabi were incredible--after trying another sushi spot where both were a disappointment, it was clear that Oku's only uses the highest quality ingredients. My wife and I were so happy we stopped by--I only wish we had time to visit twice!

Worth the 45 minute drive in traffic from kaanapali beach. This hidden gem in a strip mall features lovingly hand-crafted sushi and Japanese specialties. The restaurant is tiny, with only 4 tables and a sushi bar, but was clean and felt authentically Japanese. The service was genuine and friendly. We went mid-afternoon for a late lunch around 3pm. We heard that it gets quite crowded for dinner so we were happy to miss the rush. Overall a delicious experience.

Upon entering the restaurant, we enjoyed hearing upbeat music and hubby and I were warmly greeted by an employee named Josh. Hubby informed the employee about his but allergy and the employee said the restaurant was but free except the peanut sauce in one of the menu items. After reviewing the menu, I decided to try their Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl with nozzarella sticks and hubby ordered their pulled pork fries. In addition to our food, I ordered a Hawaiian sunset to drink which is their version of an Arnold Palmer and hubby ordered a lemonade. As we waited for our food to be ready, we noticed an area with non-food items for sale including glass cup, a shirt, a graphic similar to the on in the restaurant sitting area, and silverware. The nozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and served with a side of marinara sauce. My Asian teriyaki chicken rice bowl was full and filling and I was shocked when I saw it not only contained full baby carrots. The pulled pork fries had the perfect balance of tenderness through the well seasoned pulled pork served on top of crunchy French fries. Since we at inside the restaurant, we appreciated Josh regularly checking in to ask how we were enjoying our meal as well as providing suggestions for other places in the area with vegan or plant based food options. We enjoyed the food, conversation and good vibes with Josh so much that we returned the next day. During our second visit, I ordered a chicken gyro and a crème brûlée which hubby ordered the BRB burger with fries, a side on onion rings, and a slice of avocado toast. Considering we were crunched for time, we took our food to go and similar to our first visit, the food was phenomenal. The chicken gyro was flavorful with several sauces and the onion rings were perfectly crunchy on the outside and the sauces Josh provided were creamy. Hubby's mind was blown away by the presentation of the avo toastie (he said this avocado toast was the best her ever had) and despite not being a big eater of sweets, he thoroughly enjoyed the crème brûlée which was soft and sweet. Given Josh's positive energy as well as creative and delicious food, if you are vegan, vegetarian, or veg-curious, I suggest you walk, not run to Earth Aloha Eats.

This deli is located in a strip mall and is bigger inside than it looks from the outside. On one side they have the ordering area with a beverage cooler, a display case, and hats for sale with their logo. The other side has seating and can probably fit around 30 to 40 people. For lunch on this day I went with the chicken pesto panini while my father went with a hot dog with mustard and sauerkraut. The menu described my sandwich as chicken breast, sun dried tomato, toasted pine nuts, provolone, and pesto spread, and my father's simply as sauerkraut and mustard. It was busy when we were there, so it took about 10 minutes to order and another 15 minutes for the food to come out. Since we ordered separately, my food came out first and even though I planned to wait, I had enough time to eat it while waiting for my dad's. The chicken pesto panini ended up being quite good. The chicken was moist and flavorful and there was more than enough cheese. The sun dried tomatoes added a nice pop of flavor, although I wish there had been more. My favorite part was the pesto spread and pine nuts, especially the garlicky flavor from the pesto. My dad also thought his hot dog was good. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed my sandwich and my dad enjoyed his hot dog, so I would be interested in trying more of the menu.

He explained that he made the specials of the day while the regular menu was made inside the food truck. We were too full however tempted, and decided to go watch the sunset. But afterwards we wandered back to share a dish, and settled upon the beef special since we hadn't had any all trip. We had the smoked maminha tri-tip steak, Okinawa purple sweet potato, grilled maui onion and broccolini. Beautifully plated on real plates and silverware. No comparison to the so many common $21 food truck entrees and cost just a little more.
