The first time I went there maybe 60 people in front of me, prior to 07:30. Staff was very friendly. Got a lot of pastries but the cinnamon roll is definitely the star. Still hot. So amazing. Not too sweet. The texture is croissant like. So much cinnamon. The balance of flavors was amazing. I was definitely going back. The sausage croissant was good. The blueberry scone was ok. Just finished my Cinnamon Roll and decided to go straight to Yelp. It was the best cinnamon roll I've ever had hands down. I arrived at 6 am - exactly one hour before opening and there was already about 7 or 8 people in line waiting. Today was also the first day their coffee barista opened. You can now place your order for coffee while waiting in line. Once they open (@ 7 am) they move quickly taking orders and sending them out fast. They do sell out so I would recommend arriving as early as possible. We also tried their ham and cheese croissant and it was very good as well. Their little shop is nice! Little seating inside and out. I walked from the resort I was staying at across the street. There seems to be limited amount of parking. I absolutely recommend this if you're looking for good pastries! I plan on returning on my next visit to Maui! read more

Theeee best cinnamon rolls I've ever had in my life! I am so happy I came across Papi's Ohana and even happier how close it was to our hotel. After hearing about the hype, I decided to give it a whirl. I arrived around 9am on a Monday and the line was long. Took about an hour to reach the front, but it doesn't feel like it takes that long. They also sell coffee and take coffee orders and make the drink while you wait in line. We ordered two of their delicious rolls and they were generous with the amount of glaze there is on each roll. And if you really want to bathe in the glaze they also sell extra. My husband decided to also get a scone since we were there. We took everything back to our room and enjoyed our little breakfast and watched the view of the ocean. When you take that first bite...yum! They really are blessed with lots of flavor and much love. This building used to be our favorite plate lunch place that closed during Covid. I was sad to see it go but happy the space is getting used. We got in line super early and it was already long. Inter-rater reliability was high. Results indicated a clear preference, but recognition that intra-familial results would likely vary. Definitely our favorite research project on the island. BACKGROUND: Papi's lays claim to the best cinnamon rolls, and one of the longest wait times on the island for anything not run by an airline. Zero point three miles north lies an oft-mentioned "also-good" that some even say is "just-as-good." METHOD: Tried both. Three days apart. Both warm out of the oven max fresh. North option was a 3-min wait, Papi's was a 45-min wait and barely got 2 of the last 4 available for the day. RESULTS: Both places executed their approach to absolute perfection. Very clear differences between the two mean that there can be no objective winner. It's down to personal (or in our case, family) preference. Papi's PROs Buttery and super sweet (more American style?) Maybe a slight edge on frosting. Amazing textures, from the soft roll up to just the right amount of hard caramelized crunchy bits. Papi's CONS The wait (duh) Couldn't get enough to test longevity The potential for social aggression should you be one of the last chosen few or one of the first castaways (we sent our New Yorker, so we were fine.) So it wasn't my fault and I waited till last minute to get to this place even though it was right around the corner from where we were staying. I went there around 9 AM and I should've gotten there earlier because I did my homework and read the reviews and did not follow instructions from other yelpers. The line does go out the door and I thought maybe because the restaurant itself is small that there was only a certain amount of people allowed at once, but there was a line inside too. Argh! That's what happens when it's good. The line does go pretty fast, but I did wait about 10 to 15 minutes. I was craving delicious cinnamon rolls and that is definitely what I got. The cinnamon roll was huge and was really soft in the middle should be. The only thing that I can say is that the dough itself is more like a croissant rather than your traditional cinnamon bun. The middle of the cinnamon bun definitely has more of a cinnamon bun texture where it was gooey. The cream cheese frosting was so good that I was licking it out of the container of the cinnamon bun. I was super mad at myself because I did not get to try anything else because unfortunately, I got there late and they were sold out. I really want to try their breakfast items, but all they had left to wear cinnamon buns and other pastries. Like I said, you definitely wanna get there early and follow what other people say because they do run out. Another thing you can do is to call them in advance and see if they have any items. The restaurant itself is nothing wonderful but you're not staying there. You're grabbing your food and leaving. But I do have to say there is the aloha treatment where you feel it instantly. You can see the owners taking your order and making cinnamon rolls right in front of you. This places definitely budget friendly when finding food in Maui. My wife and I are staying at a condo down the street and we passed the sign the night before saying " Best Cinnamon Rolls on Maui". Me being a Cinnamon roll snob we had to check it out. We arrived about 7:45 to a line of about 30 people waiting to get their piece of heaven. When we finally got up there ( about 45 min) we ordered two cinnamon rolls and a box of cookies. The parking lot is pretty small so we parked at a nearby lot and my husband walked over. Service was super friendly and once you placed an order, they're pretty quick at it. I would make sure to check to see what days they're open as they are closed on certain days. I've seen folks lined up outside on the closed days and they didn't know. We ordered a savory spam croissant and two cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon rolls were warm, fresh and delicious. If you have time to line up and if you love sweets, it might be worth the wait.
