So happy Guaiqueri was at Waianuenue, even though they were by themselves during lunch. First time trying. Tried their chicken empanada, seafood empanada, and lilikoi tres leches cake. Empanadas were yummy! 4 minutes to fry so wait was quick. The dough/crust was tasty, but a bit greasy. Fillings were also tasty. Shredded chicken had great flavor. Seafood consisted of chopped up large pieces of octopus, shrimp, and calamari. What's even better was they were surprisingly still good when microwaved the next day (was too lazy to heat it properly). Definitely dip with lots of sauce! He was positive about the overthrow of Maduro but warned it is the crime cartels that still wield the real control from the shadows, but that the average person is going to be better off in general. at one point i was on a empanada roll and wanted to try all of them! Until i ate an empanada from somewhere that cracked my wisdom tooth! i was so traumatized from that whole ordeal that i just completely gave up eating it. That all changed when i tried Guaiqueri maybe a month or two after my mouth healed. Their empanada's weren't oily and hard (even if you air fry it later if you even end up with extras). They are mostly pop up and you'll have to check their instagram for their schedule. Most of the time they are at some kind of farmers market somewhere. Their empanada's start at about $8 and don't forget the sauce! my favorite is the beef and it's always sold out before i get to it. LOL. Tip is to go early and order if you can. A fun food truck option, empanadas are an easy thing to eat when craving an easy meal. I got to try them on a visit to Howzit Brewing, but I know they move around. Their big and filled with great portions for a reasonable price. The shell is crispy and flavorful. The only drawback was they were so greasy, which also imparted that flavor. We ordered empanadas and sauce for an office lunch, which we were fortunate enough to get delivered. Last time I contacted them they were only able to provide food if you met them at a market, now they do catering orders. Yay! They have a minimum order of 12 - let's face it, you could probably eat 12 by yourself - so we were all in. They bill you for half the order when they take it, and the other half once it's delivered, which I just loved, because that means we're all on the same page. Obviously, the empanadas themselves were delicious (not to mention sizeable), but even more importantly was the amazing customer service and overall communication. We communicated primarily on IG but on delivery day I gave them my contact numbers just in case - and good thing because they ended up needing a little more information on location! The first time I tried these, I drove to her place in Waikiki to pick up. Since then, she's expanded and does meet-ups all ova da island. This is great, since I'm rarely in Waiks, anymore. The owner does a fabulous job of keeping her IG up to date, with different flavors, specials, how-to-order, and meet-up locations and dates. The most recent time we ordered was for the Salt Lake meet-up, and it did not disappoint. Side note, these are best enjoyed fresh (obviously), but if you're taking them home, they taste just good if you just throw them in the air fryer for a little bit. So far, my favorites are the shredded beef (a classic, pretty much stays on the menu) and the chicken with cream cheese (a special, but it's recurring). All empanadas are not created equal, so here's what to expect with these. Each darling is pretty large--I'd say about as large as my hand. That said, one person could probably eat 2-3 and feel pretty satisfied. The dip that comes with is very refreshing, tho I'm most of a heat person, so I wish I could have this plus something spicy. Speakin' of, I know she has recently added another special to the menu, a spicy shrimp, so of course that's the next one I'll be trying! I saw them on Instagram and the only time I've ever eaten Venezuelan food was at ElChamo (now closed, unfortunately) so I was SO excited when I saw that they sold hot & fresh empanadas! The person that runs the IG is the SWEETEST PERSON EVER. She answered all my questions and was genuinely so excited for me to try her foods. The first time I got them delivered to my house and they came right on time and the communication was great. The second time, I picked it up from their location because I found out it was really close to my house. Their empanadas are AMAZING (how many times will i use the word amazing in this review lol).The outside is crisp while the inside is a fluffy hollow beauty stuffed with the most magnificent fillings. It has just a hiiiint of sweetness which is so subtle you might almost miss it, and I love it. You can choose from different flavors like chorizo, shredded beef, chicken, black beans & cheese, ground beef, cheese, etc. She also makes this AMAZING green sauce (it says on their instagram that it's called Guasacaca) which I just can't explain in words with how good it is. It's herby and creamy and goes so well with the empanadas. I believe a pack of 5 is $20 and a pack of 10 is $40. If you get the 10 pack she throws in a mason jar filled with the Guasacaca sauce, and lowkey I wanna get 10 empanadas for the sole purpose of getting that sauce lol read more

But what caught my attention was the guasacaca (or wasakaka). I always wanted to try the sauce and would have attempted to make my own. This is a VENEZUELAN owned and operated business - everything was authentic and made with quality. The size of the empanada is pretty large with generous filling. I ordered a variety. What was available: beef, chicken, cheese, spicy chorizo and cheese, and chicken and cream cheese. I highly recommend you try these empanadas. $4 each for regular fillings, $5 for specialty. I also bought a jar of guasacaca for $5. Can be eaten with tortilla chips or put on tacos and burritos.
