Not sure if there was a change of ownership or management, but I noticed a few changes: No longer serving rice pudding or individual cheesecake slices. Prices are no longer shown on the fridges (paying cash is cheaper) They switched the selections of cakes and cupcakes to the other side from the individual cookies and other pastries. New selections of muffins and donuts The staff were helpful but I felt like it was tedious to ask for the price of each item. The cakes are usually ranging from $26 and up. DO NOT GET THE CUPCAKES, it taste like the supermarket cupcakes from stop and shop, walmart, or shop rite. It tastes like hint of cleaning supply, fake sweetness gritty textured icing. Try the cannoli, though the casing doesnt look like it's homemade. Apparently their filling is and they fill it per order which helps retain the crunch of the casing. We have tried a few cakes: strawberry shorcake, oreo cake, and chocolate mousse cake which is not bad for its price. read more

Stumbled across this bakery trying to grab some morning brew but instead of brew I found all these goodies which were reasonably priced. I'm a sucker for baked fresh, hot Italian bread and sure enough they had a whole bunch. There were so many pastries, cakes and goodies to choose from and I just didn't know what to get. I grabbed a donut, some pastries, a carrot cake and a pineapple cake in a cup. All of it was super delicious. I'll definitely be coming back to try their cakes and cookies. read more

Sigh. I've gotten cookies from here many many years ago so figured I could stop by to get some fresh bread for breakfast. I have to say this place has some of the worse customer service I've experienced. I get that orders come in but I witnessed staff members walking around moving things around while a line of people formed. No one said a word to us all lining up to order and once someone comes from the back to start taking orders they go out of order. Staple and a definite go to bakery. I visit once a month because it's close to my dogs groomer. While she is being groomed I sit in my car outside the bakery and feast. It's a must try guys. Ran over to Grimaldi's in the rain with my little girls and my best friend. Although I was sad there isn't a sitting area, I was very happy with what I did see. It's extremely clean and friendly. I noticed the cheesecakes and other items in the fridge as soon as I walked in since I couldn't decide between the Black Forest and the strawberry cheesecake, I got both. The person behind the counter was patient and kind, letting my daughters choose their cupcakes and handing it to them directly rather than making them wait while it was bagged up. She was very sweet. The Black Forest was delicious and since I "accidentally" ate my boyfriend's cheesecake, it looks like I will be taking the 37 minute drive from home to return. I strongly recommend this bakery. Authentic italian cookies! Those ones shaped like an S and those ones covered in sesame. Anisette cookies were the best here. They look like biscotti but they aren't. If you are unaccustomed to these kind of tea & coffee treats then try some and expand the diversity of your palette. Their flavor is reserved and they are not super sugary. Gotten some baked goods here that were affordable and good. Haven't tried a huge sampling of the cakes or cookies. Bagels here are trash. I assume they are machine made. They all look the same, big, too dense, with a boring squishy outside. They won't toast your bagel here, which would be fine if they were delicious NY bagels, handmade, and fresh. Moist, light, and chewy on the inside with a little bit of crust/crisp on the outside. I would say of course, excuse me, no need to scorch these perfect treasures. But no they're like the bagels you buy at the grocery store. Place like this could have a thriving breakfast business if they added breakfast sandwiches good bagels and toasting to their arsenal. I really do love this bakery and sad that my only connection to the area has moved so it really would be a hike for baked goods. If I was model thin then grimadli's is worth the 30 min bus ride but it's a lot of effort to get fatter. The variety is pretty good and I've yet to feel like there isn't something new to try every time I go. My favorites have to be the doughnut cannoli hybrid, the mega Cinnamon bun square, brownies and the monkey bread. If I had to choose one thing it would be the brownies. They're perfect. They have one with a pudding like frosting and one that's more of an regular icing but fudge like brownie. Both are huge and can be split but if you're greedy then tell you friend to kick rocks! They have breads, cakes, mega muffins, parfait style cake flavors, cupcakes, croissants, Italian cookies and traditional desserts, bread puddings, turnovers and soooo much more. Service is always friendly although at times inattentive but their mainly younger females in the front like high school/college age so that's expected. The prices are beyond reasonable and I don't think I've ever spent more than $10 for 2 people each getting 2-3 items. My only complaint is that sometimes everything is a day old. I totally get not selling out of every cookie, bread loaf, money bread, etc. daily so keeping it but you have to have at least a few things fresh daily. Displays were well-stocked and the staff smiling at 10:45am on Valentine's Day. Ordered up $20.22 which was covered by an Amazon Local voucher, which is about $40 worth of pastries at your normal bakery (I kept ordering more and didn't hit the voucher minimum) -- peep the receipt. Most things were quite good, with the lobster tail as the standout. Will return for specialty seasonal sweets, filled-to-order cannoli, the semolina and the Pane di Altamura peddled out of the full-city-block production facility. I haven't been to Grimaldis in ages. So glad I stopped by yesterday. They are roomier than most bakeries around. Have an extensive self-serve coffee bar and a wider selection of baked goods than most bakeries in the area. All types of breads, cakes, pies, pastries,donuts. cookies, parfaits, etc. Anything to curb your cravings. Young, friendly staff. Speedy service. Better prices than Catania and Monreale. Bought a delicious devils food cake with a cherry filling and chocolate covered cherries on top for only sixteen bucks! It was so delicious and fresh! My new favorite treat is the Donnoli. A donut filled with cannoli cream! So outrageously mouthwatering. Can't wait to go back! read more

I shoulda known this was not a good spot when I walked in and saw all the pre-filled canoli in the case. Real Italian bakeries fill them to order so the shell does not get soggy. I got some other pastries and found them quite stale and of poor quality. Maybe they are more known for bread? I dunno, but I sadly won't return. read more

Most of the staff are nice but today ,Friday May 10, around 1:45pm i go there to get the bread, and i also ordered one pastry, white cream and fruits on top. I got greeted by an unfriendly face at the counter , and she didnt even put the sof pastry in a box but instead she wrapped it in paper and threw it in the same bag as the bread and everything became a mess. read more

To me Grimaldi's must be overrated. The staff didn't seem as friendly as the local bakeries in Ridgewood, and there were a lot of flies flying around all the baked goods. Not to say these baked goods aren't good, but I decided I was not interested after I encountered staff just "doing there job" and flies potentially eating like royalty. The outside looks really nice though, and it is a nice walk to Grimaldi's if you're walking from the forest train station. I've been meaning to try Grimaldi's Bakery for over 10 years! Yes, over 10 friggin years and here's why. Way back then, I use to be a stock boy/delivery boy for a pharmacy on Fresh Pond Road. I use to make plenty of delivery runs in Ridgewood and often pass by Grimaldi's Bakery. Sometimes, I would be several blocks away and I could smell their baked good. The smell of freshly baked bread and pastries was astounding. Back then, the exterior of Grimaldi's didn't look the way it does now. It looked very plain and wouldn't expect it would be a bakery. Back then, there would be times where I would roam around the blocks trying to track the smell during my routes. When I finally found it, I either didn't have any money on me or they were closing. Lately I've been running some errands back in the old neighborhood and the other day when I was driving down Forest Ave with my son, we smelt it! I smelled the same fresh baked goods smell I smelt 10 years ago. I didn't bother google mapping it. I rolled down the windows and followed where my nose took me and soon enough we found Grimaldi's Bakery on the corner of Menahan St and Grandview Ave. When I entered, I was so excited but I didn't have a darn clue what I wanted or any clue what they're known for. I went with something random and saw these really huge squares of I think cream cheese buns/swirls. I have no idea what they're called, you could see them in my photos. When I got home, I took a big bite of it. The cream cheese topping was good but a little too much added sugar. You could taste the grainy sugary texture in some bites. The bun/swirl itself as very delicious. It wasn't dry and the core of the bun had some added sweetness which brought the whole thing together. Overall, it was still very good even with the cream cheese topping. The price for the size is definitely worth it. I definitely wanna go back again and try more. Inside looks pretty nice but I thought it might be much bigger considering how big the building looks from the outside. read more

I bought an Amazon Local deal, so I could buy cookies for a party I was planning. When I went to Grimaldi's, they said I had already used the voucher. I'd never been Grimaldi's before, or that part of Ridgewood even. They weren't helpful, and just tried to convince me I really had used the voucher a month a go. I could talk to a manager on Monday, but the party was today. I'm sure this was just a paperwork mishap, but I wish they could have been more helpful or owned their mustake. Wonderful family style bakery in central/south Ridgewood Queens. Everything I've tried tasted fresh including bagels, cheesecake, coffee, cookies, and pie. Coffee is really good and they have a bunch of flavors. Bagels were big and soft and cream cheese was loaded on like I like it. Happy to know here and the inside smells like a local bakery I know since I was little girl back in my hometown. We only got some mini whole wheat breads and italian breads for making breakfast sandwiches this time but there were also self-service coffee section and many pastries that almost convinced me to take them with me although I totally did not need at that moment. So I grew up going to Bakeries all of the time . I'm a huge fan of pastries and of course delicious bread. Grimaldi's has AMAZING freaking bread. I feel like not many people know how amazing this bakery actually is... I love it because I can go to it everyday and I smell the bread and doughnuts being made early in the morning which is amazing. They sell a variety of bread and pastries. As well as eggs don't make pizza milk and other Breakfast deliciousness a you may have forgotten at the grocery store. Were able to make your own coffee which I love self service that works . My favorite thing about this bakery which is probably the most dangerous thing is their Cannoli donut.. It's dangerously delicious I kid you Not! It is worth the $3.50 that it cost. But I will say this it is a doughnut that you have to share . If you eat in one sitting I'm worried you might get diabetes... but maybe it's worth it lol On a More serious note if you want to purchase bulk order just call them and they will have it ready for you to pick up.
