For the longest time I have been wanting to get to San Cafe. A few months ago, I finally made it a point to go and I must say it's a hidden gem for all bakery aficionados. The variety of treats offered is truly impressive. Everything that I have tried is beyond delicious. From fruit tart, polish donuts, poppyseed roll to wafers. The coffee is great as well. What I love is that the items are not overly sweet so you really taste all of the other quality ingredients. Each item is a masterpiece, showcasing the skill and passion of the baker whom also happens to be a nice guy. I now go in weekly to pick up some items as I have become addicted. I recently came here to get a gift box of pastries. They said it would be ready in 10 minutes and when I came back, I came back to a beautiful plate of assorted pastries, garnished with flower decorations and wrapped up and ribboned! I come here pretty often, usually about twice a week and i love their low prices for fresh coffee. They always try out new pastries but my favorite is the peach one with orange jelly. I stumbled upon this little humble cafe, serendipitously whilst driving on this side of Maspeth. It's warm and cozy, and smells so sweet inside. I appreciated the welcoming greeting from the man on the counter and the surprise cookies I received as a first time customer. The cookies were amazing! It had a preserve in the middle with seeds, like from a real fruit, not the fake jelly. The same cookie had a crunch but not too hard and wasn't brittle, just perfect! I also got these mini puff pastries with cream filling, delicious, not too sweet of a filling, with a smooth creamy texture. I haven't tried the cake I got yet because I've just spoiled my sweet tooth rotten. I will come back for more pastries and also try their coffees and specialty coffees soon. Very satisfying flavors and I am glad to see a different kind of cafe in town with homemade sweets! read more

Like Katarzyna, I purchased a few items but when i got home i realized they aren't fresh so i went back. When i pointed out the fact, the sales girl said that everything was fresh and that she ate that YESTERDAY!!! Than when she went to get the owner he was confrontational and would not want to admit it. On top of it there's people just hanging out making comments saying they are customers when in fact none of them had anything from this bakery but in fact cans of sodas from the store across the street!!! This place is a hangout and the pastries are stale since not even the people hanging out want to buy anything. Would not recommend, negative stars if possible!!!! read more

Absolutely disgusting!! Whenever I come I always receive the most slowest service and the nastiest pastries. When they opened they were perfect and the A from the health inspection was well deserved. Now, everything is horrible. Last time I went the cookies I bought were soggy and green! The cakes there are old and when I ask if they're fresh the girls say yes they're from today meanwhile I've been seeing the same amount for the past days! On fat Thursday I came to buy donuts- and non of them had filling inside such as nutella or jam. Such a disgrace and disappointment. Never going back again. read more
