I parked by the Scrabble sign at 35th and 81st. It was replaced. :( So I walked up to Northern Blvd. to get picked up by a friend and decided I'd grab a bite while waiting. Had the following: * Corn muffin / cornbread: I would call it Southern style. Not very sweet, the sort you'd dip in BBQ sauce (but none of that here). I prefer that to the sweeter, moister Northern style, but now you know. * Strawberry... dairy... something. Didn't put a name on it, just pointed to it and had it. Vanilla custard I think? Call it that. Absolutely wonderful. Two entire strawberries chopped on top. Plenty of custard below held in the crust. Delicious and plenty to it. * Apple pie square: Really cheap for how much you get! Plenty of apples in there, it's carb heavy but a nice loaded snack if you should like sweet apple pie squares. Service was friendly, personable, they forgot to ring up the apple pie but they got it right. You point, they'll pick, you take, you eat, you smile. Without busting your wallet. You can buy in bulk or in smaller quantities but good luck with deciding on how to keep your order small. CASH is king here so save your cards for another time. They open pretty early and close relatively late so be sure to take your time checking out all of the goods because there is a lot! I was able to order a toasted ham and cheese sandwich here for under $4. The bread was fresh and had flavor. I like the ham that was used. The ladies at the front seem patient and friendly. I would revisit. It seems like an awesome place to grab a sandwich to go...it's kind of small inside, but the service is great. I've popped in here twice. The service is wonderful. The coffee isn't great, not even with a little milk. The cookies and breads always smell scrumptious! The floors and counters are always clean. I've have known this bakery for most of my life...and swore by it, BUT this time I was totally disappointed. I bought a Napoleon cake for my aunts 75th birthday and it was absolutely horrible. The custard was so thick and tasted like plastic. So bad that we threw it away, because we were worried that there actually plastic melted into it. Won't be returning ever! read more

This is my all time favorite Italian bakery! Everything I've tried is absolutely delicious. My favorite go-to items are the cannoli's, cheesecake, semolina bread and their biscotti. But you honestly can't go wrong with any of their fresh baked goods that they bake on premise. read more

I know they deliver all around the neighborhoods, the bread is great but when I read the ingredients compared to other places it's just not the same and does not taste good like any other. They used BLEACHED FLOUR kind wish they kept it normal and clean. They're a lot of bakeries that are now using the original simple ingredients which is actually cleaner and healthier for you. Ingredients: Flour, salt, sugar, butter, yeast, warm water. That's all!! Just hope they can keep up with the other bakeries, since they're using more health conscious ingredients. Coming to this bakery for many years, used to live on northern. Bakery is simple Italian and Latin American breads, cookies, and pastries counter is very clean. Pastries always look fresh and you can smell baking on premises. Chocolate covered Italian cookies are always fresh and delicious. They have large Alfajor cookies with caramel inside these are delicious. Large sprinkle cookies are good too. Italian bread is fresh and flaky. Service always very nice. I've been coming here every sat and sun for about 10 months. I love their coffee; the girl makes it exactly how I take it: skim milk + one sugar. Sometimes, you don't get what you ask for these days when all you have is a simple request such as that! Good to know there's still small simple places like this left out there. They do make one very good bread: the large round wholewheat. Funny thing is the small wholewheat is not as good.

This is a solid, neighborhood bakery. I've been going for a few months now and I've been more or less satisfied with what I've gotten. It's no award-winning bakery and you won't knock anyone's socks off, but it gets the job done. I have gotten the cheesecake (both the vanilla and the chocolate), elephant ears, pies (peach and apple), and tiramisu. They've all been good and not too terribly sweet. The tiramisu doesn't taste like the typical kind though. It's more of a coffee-flavored cake. Service is also very pleasant and friendly. I'll definitely be coming here regularly as long as I live in the neighborhood. read more
