We were shopping around Seafood City Supermarket, so on the way out, we also stopped by Grill City to pick up something to snack on: siomai (on a stick) and some chicken bbq sticks. The employees were polite and somewhat friendly, they processed our orders quickly. The siomai was alright but unimpressive; the chicken bbq stick was surprisingly bland: the sauce was good but meat was under seasoned but overcooked,which made the end pieces a bit tough. We usually make a special trip to California just for these bbq sticks but the quality isn't the anymore; during this most recent trip, we just had an alright visit but maybe next time we'll skip out. read more

Pancit Palabok - this was our favorite of the 3 entrees. Nice, thick noodles with tons of flavor. For comparison, this one is better than what Jollibee serves. Service was quick because the food is ready at the counter. You select what you want to build your plate. It's located inside the Seafood City plaza and faces the supermarket. Just came here to have my daughter in law taste the famous barbecue skewers. She preferred the chicken but I'm more of the porky side. The bbq deal was buy 4 get 1 free for $17. The bbq were not as they used to be before the pandemic. They're not basted with as much sauce as to give that moist and tender look. I went to Grill City/Seafood City in this location looking for some snacks.. I usually go to the one in South San Francisco.. I bought this leche flan, seems delicious, Pandan and Ube flavor.. Decided on the 2-Pieces Grilled Half Bangus (Milk fish). I saw their photo advertised via DoorDash menu app and I thought I'd give it a try. I also ordered a 1-piece pork BBQ. The order arrived as promised. But sadly the presentation of the 2-Pieces Grilled Half Bangus (Milk fish) was disappointing. Please refer to the photo. The grilled fish hardly had any garnishing inside. Totally sad looking. I mean it's so unacceptable. I should have asked for a refund. Why would the establishment think this is ok to send to a customer? Please note that it also costs $13.99. Please see photo attached for yourself. I didn't even bother taking photo of the Pork BBQ. I love Filipino food but... I wasn't impressed with this Grill City in Vallejo. It was a flashback experience I had of the Grill City in Sacramento on Mack Road [July 2013]... I never came back. Fast forward to this location in Vallejo. We only ended up here because we couldn't find the restaurant we've been wanting to try (also in Vallejo). Anyway, understanding the menu (especially the combo deals) and the ordering system was a bit confusing to me. It took us awhile to decide on how to make this work for us without ordering too much food. After awhile we finally decided and we appreciated that the nice older lady behind the counter was patient in helping us, even making suggestions. The food choices are set up like a buffet ("turo turo" style) and we just pointed to the items we wanted. I chose one of the combo deals and got the liyempo (grilled pork belly) and came with a choice of another entree, I chose the pork adobo. They gave so much rice that the hubby just got BBQ on a stick (buy 4, get 1 free -- choice of chicken or beef) and we shared the rice that came with my combo meal. Whew! that took like 10 mins on that order counter... luckily, we were the only ones there. After all that, I only found the food to be mediocre... like not fresh, like it's been sitting there awhile. If not for the nice lady who helped us this is only worth a one-star review. Grill city has been open for years now but for some reason the food just doesn't taste as good as the local ready made food places. Very similar to the "carendaryas" from the Philippines. They're grilled food is pretty good, one of the only places I can find chicken Inasal-- ilonggo style bbq/marinade as opposed to inihaw/grilled bbq on a stick. The process is a little longer and this is located within seafood city so there's a lot of food traffic and I can't tell how long the food has been sitting out there or not. They also have reasy made desserts that are prepackaged for to-go option. Although when I came on a weekday afternoon there weren't many people in line but I felt like the process took such a long time that I wouldn't be able to grab this as a quick lunch place (how it's supposed to be). My go to here is usually the chicken and pork bbq, can't really go wrong with it. When I bought food there was a buy 1 get 1 combo special, I don't know how long that promo was for. As for parking, since it's located within Seafood City, there's plenty of parking, there are security guards but there's been history of break ins and mugging. Not a good experience. They tend to overcharge you with your food items if you are not checking your receipt. The staff would say "She is a trainee" But she didnt receive adequate training to be in a cashier then she should be allowed to handle the cashier.!" . Note: I'll be updating this review whenever I can, since they're still new. My family and I went here after shopping at Seafood City. The smell was what made us go here, and we also wanted to try it out since it recently opened. We ordered their "value" meals with a classic entrée: Pork BBQ and Chicken BBQ. Already this was a problem. One skewer with two scoops of rice was nowhere near what a "value" meal should be, especially with the minimum price of $7.50 per meal. If anything, they need to add a second skewer or lower the price. I can get more food at Panda Express at that price! The Pork BBQ skewer and Chicken BBQ skewer were drenched in a BBQ sauce that tasted like a sauce my family normally gets from Costco. They were still good, but my chicken was undercooked in certain areas (MAKE SURE to check before you eat!). The pork was cooked and pretty good too, but I think you're better off getting them somewhere else. For the classic entrée, we got just the pancit palabok. They were being very stingy with the amount they were putting into the container, making sure it barely leveled with the bottom container. I've been to other places where they fill it up as much as they can. Why call it an entrée when it should be just a side? The name is very misleading, expecting you to actually get an entrée portion than a side portion. The palabok was okay, but Red Ribbon's is better by a long shot. We ordered the food to-go and the employee didn't pack it well and got very confused as to which order ours was...the fact that they're using tickets and just placing the food on a common shelf is just asking for it. Panda Express does a better job with handling orders. Why can't they just give the food to us and we show them what food we ordered, like Panda? Yes, I'm comparing to them because it's basically an express food too. The employee didn't double bag, despite the skewers making huge holes in the bag, and she noticed it too. Today was the day I was going to grab one, but that one turned into 5 (bringing some home to the family). It was yummy!!! I also picked up the Veggie lumpia which are delicious supersized homemade Lumpia. Easy to order, just get in line, pick out what you want (Adobo,Pancit, etc) and what size and the staff will put your food in a container for you and/or you can help yourself to the easy togo items (Turon, Fried Pata, etc) and pay at the counter. Here's what happened: Called in Wednesday, November 15, to order bangus sisig in advance (for November 18 at 1pm.) so I thought everything was good. Good thing, we went to the branch on Friday, November 17, to pay, and again in advance. Only to find out that the order was not logged!! So we had to re-do the ordering! Just imagine if we hadn't gone there on Friday. Now, it's Saturday, 150PM and we are still waiting for our order. So much for informing them in advance.
