    Baby Bangus
    Christopher J.

This is a solid spot for value-priced Filipino food. Baby Bangus - nicely fried and served with rice, 2 eggs, and vinegar. Hotdog - tasty with a good snap and also served with rice and 2 eggs. Pancit Palabok - this was our favorite of the 3 entrees. Nice, thick noodles with tons of flavor. For comparison, this one is better than what Jollibee serves. Service was quick because the food is ready at the counter. You select what you want to build your plate. It's located inside the Seafood City plaza and faces the supermarket. You can dine in at the many surrounding tables. Grilled food will taste best when fresh off the grill. We will try other choices for future visits.

Just came here to have my daughter in law taste the famous barbecue skewers. She preferred the chicken but I'm more of the porky side. The bbq deal was buy 4 get 1 free for $17. The bbq were not as they used to be before the pandemic. They're not basted with as much sauce as to give that moist and tender look. We also enjoyed the street food kiosk ... bought a slice of the "lechon" (pork with crispy skin) $13 and "kwek kwek" ( deep fried battered hard boiled egg in a skewer) $2.50 and corn a cob $2.50

Expired leche flan with mold. Bought on Nov 10, 2023 and it was expired oct 21.

I went to Grill City/Seafood City in this location looking for some snacks.. I usually go to the one in South San Francisco.. I bought this leche flan, seems delicious, Pandan and Ube flavor.. When I came home, It was served at the table and as you can see the photo, it had molds on all flans.. I looked at the bottom and they were expired... I bought it November 10 and the expiration was Oct 2023... This should be reported also... I dont have time to go back to the store due to distance but I surely wanna report them... Have all evidences from photos to receipt..

(Top photo) Advertised 2 Pieces Grilled Half Bangus vs (Bottom photos) Actual order received! Really disappointing! Not even close.

Decided on the 2-Pieces Grilled Half Bangus (Milk fish). I saw their photo advertised via DoorDash menu app and I thought I'd give it a try. I also ordered a 1-piece pork BBQ. The order arrived as promised. But sadly the presentation of the 2-Pieces Grilled Half Bangus (Milk fish) was disappointing. Please refer to the photo. The grilled fish hardly had any garnishing inside. Totally sad looking. I mean it's so unacceptable. I should have asked for a refund. Why would the establishment think this is ok to send to a customer? Please note that it also costs $13.99. Please see photo attached for yourself. I didn't even bother taking photo of the Pork BBQ. Did not come close either with their photo advertised. I will not order from this restaurant again. There's got to be a better quality control per order. Update: 9/15/2020: Establishment owner reached out to my review and noted they will make improvement. I will make sure to give it another try on my next order and give an honest feedback on my new experience.

    06.13.20 Pork Adobo

I love Filipino food but... I wasn't impressed with this Grill City in Vallejo. It was a flashback experience I had of the Grill City in Sacramento on Mack Road [July 2013]... I never came back. Fast forward to this location in Vallejo. We only ended up here because we couldn't find the restaurant we've been wanting to try (also in Vallejo). Anyway, understanding the menu (especially the combo deals) and the ordering system was a bit confusing to me. It took us awhile to decide on how to make this work for us without ordering too much food. After awhile we finally decided and we appreciated that the nice older lady behind the counter was patient in helping us, even making suggestions. The food choices are set up like a buffet ("turo turo" style) and we just pointed to the items we wanted. I chose one of the combo deals and got the liyempo (grilled pork belly) and came with a choice of another entree, I chose the pork adobo. They gave so much rice that the hubby just got BBQ on a stick (buy 4, get 1 free -- choice of chicken or beef) and we shared the rice that came with my combo meal. Whew! that took like 10 mins on that order counter... luckily, we were the only ones there. After all that, I only found the food to be mediocre... like not fresh, like it's been sitting there awhile. If not for the nice lady who helped us this is only worth a one-star review. Grill City is located indoors just outside the Seafood City Market. There are community table seating set up adjacent to the eatery. Review #1818

I put it in ice because it's my personal taste.
    Irene B.

Technically I got a container of buko pandan. In reality it felt like a joke because it was in my estimate 95% gelatine strips and the rest are chewy gelatine pieces and yes, five thin small strips of coconut. It is not funny however I give five stars to cashier Aurora. She is a very good front-liner: pleasant, polite, accommodating.

Bandaids. At the bottom of my order.
    Brent B.

They added bandaids to my munggo order. I've abstained from trashing how they've messed up orders in the past since I only order here for my family, but since then, I thought they'd do better.. no. This is egregiously worse. BANDAIDS.

Grill city has been open for years now but for some reason the food just doesn't taste as good as the local ready made food places. Very similar to the "carendaryas" from the Philippines. They're grilled food is pretty good, one of the only places I can find chicken Inasal-- ilonggo style bbq/marinade as opposed to inihaw/grilled bbq on a stick. The process is a little longer and this is located within seafood city so there's a lot of food traffic and I can't tell how long the food has been sitting out there or not. They also have reasy made desserts that are prepackaged for to-go option. Although when I came on a weekday afternoon there weren't many people in line but I felt like the process took such a long time that I wouldn't be able to grab this as a quick lunch place (how it's supposed to be). My go to here is usually the chicken and pork bbq, can't really go wrong with it. When I bought food there was a buy 1 get 1 combo special, I don't know how long that promo was for. As for parking, since it's located within Seafood City, there's plenty of parking, there are security guards but there's been history of break ins and mugging. Right now they had some chairs and tables open for people to eat indoors and adhere to social distant.

    $34.99/lb for Chicharon Bulaklak!!! WTF!!
    Sailor M.

WTF!! $34.99/LB for Chicharon Bulaklak!!! This is INSANE!! I was SHOCK to see this price!! I asked my friend to get some since she was in the area. I asked for 1lb, but she end up buying half instead and when she gave it to me, I saw the price and told myself "WTF!!! $34.99/lb for this Chicharon?!!! Someone in Grill City is scamming customer, because I know this does not cost $34.99/lb!! DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. THEY WILL SCAM YOU!!!

"Value" meal of ONE chicken BBQ skewer and an excess of rice. The options they have to fix this problem is: to add a second skewer.

It's a small, strip mall restaurant with plenty of parking. The decor is unique with the owner's love of Lego! Her creations are displayed everywhere in the restaurant. Every time we come in, tables are pretty full. They need more wait staff to handle the crowd. Peak weekend hours like Friday evenings are crazy busy for takeout. They are so popular sometimes their phone is turned off in order to handle the orders. So for takeout during those times, you have to go in person, wait in a long line the length of the restaurant to place an order, then find a seat or wait outside for up to an hour. Meanwhile the tables are full of customers dining. Why do people go through with this when you see other restaurants in the area empty at dinner hours? The food is good and worth the wait. We try to plan our eat-in dining at 3 Star outside of the crowded times, even coming from as far as Fairfield. Dad loves the Beef with Bitter Melon, his favorite dish that Mom used to cook. I don't think we've had a bad dish here, so order whatever you like. OK, the Tomato Beef Pan-fried Noodles is too tomato-saucy red and sugary sweet. My favorite is the Seafood Pan-fried Noodles. Their Chinese Mushrooms with Chinese Vegetables is also good, but they only have bok choy and Dad likes gai lan / Chinese broccoli. The Garlic Sauce Chicken Wings are spicy and really tasty. Next time we'll try their Garlic Chicken Wings since they look so good in photos. 3 Star's super nice owner is very sweet to 94-year old Dad, and treats him very special. Once she even gave us an extra order that a customer said was wrong because she was allergic to shrimp. She also gives us the deep fried Chinese sesame balls for dessert. Maybe everyone gets them?

We had a large group of 12 people so, we did call in for a reservation for 5pm, but they weren't busy on an early Friday evening, however they had a steady stream of take out orders. The wings are always a must get here. They offer combinations of Chinese and Filipino dishes. Their portion size of food is big for the price. We ordered 3 plates of their garlic sauce wings (12 per plate), 2 plates of shrimp fried rice, 1 plate of beef chow fun, 2 order of lumpia Shanghai (20 pieces each), 2 plates of sweet and sour pork, 1 plate of garlic string beans and 1 crispy pata. That was the perfect amount that fed the 12 of us, everyone had a full belly and none to take home. Food overall was not the best, really good. Service was much better today than the last time I went when they were super packed with extreme amounts of take out orders. Had a good dining experience at 3 Star today. Will definitely come back for dine in or take out in the future when I am in the area.

Hubby found this restaurant and so we drove to the place. First thing you'll notice once you enter the restaurant is the warm temp inside - no AC but they have electric fans going on. To the right is a long shelf with a variety grocery items while the table seating is laid out in the center. TV was tuned in to a channel playing a Filipino movie. This is a "turo-turo" style food ordering, meaning no table service instead you go to where the dishes are cooked in large portions (which is towards the back of the restaurant) and you choose which ones you want. We ordered: Pork Sinigang - a little too sour for me but this is a classic Filipino soup with pork ribs, vegetables, and tamarind broth. Bistek (beef steak) - thin slices of marinated beef before smothered in a deeply savory sauce and topped with golden-seared onions Pork Adobo - classic Filipino dish of pork simmered in vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic Kaldereta - goat meat stew I didn't try the kaldereta but all the other dishes were good and delicious. You will definitely feel the Filipino hospitality here. Street parking. Maraming salamat! Review #3929
