Let me start off by saying Wow. This place is a hidden gem. We moved to vallejo almost 6 months ago and me and the wifey really wanted some ribs. Found this place on Yelp and got there at 7:15PM, just shy of 45 mins of closing on a Friday night. The frost desk service was incredible, they still let us dine-in and gave us the respected time to fully enjoy our meal. They sat us down , took our order and even recommended some items! We got our food quickly and it was well worth the visit! The food was top notch, the sides were incredible and every bite felt like mouthwatering. We sat towards the back and it was a gorgeous view of Downtown vallejo! I highly recommend coming by and trying this place if you haven't! We will definitely be back again! Superior customer service from the minute I hit the front door. A bunch of young people run this place, but they were a very efficiently with a smile in a welcome. The kitchen was very busy and there were lots of customers around with happy faces. When I got the food to my table, I was pleasantly surprised at how authentic it looked and tasted, and it reminded me of my grandma's cooking and that's a southern girl that knows her barbecue. BBQ was sounding good so we decided to order from Gracie's. We had it delivered. 3 of us split the Pit Master. The beans were good. They always are. The meat was a little underwhelming though. There was a chicken drumstick, but it was so dry my mom wouldn't eat it. There wasn't much to the ribs. We got a dry end piece They also put a surprise in the order. I believe it was some kind of chicken quesadilla, but it was so soggy when we got it. It was hard to tell what it was and it didn't taste very good. This review is long overdue. Just realized we're repeat patrons who've somehow never left a review -- so it's time. We've been coming to Gracie's for many years, and it's straight-up comfort food for us. We rarely stray from our usual order because... why mess with what works? Our go-to is the Sampler Platter: half rack of ribs, chicken quarter, hot link, cornbread, and two sides. We always choose the pesto pasta and green beans, and this platter easily feeds three people. If we have an extra person, we'll add half a pound of tri-tip (though I do miss when brisket was on the menu) and a side of mac and cheese. The BBQ is consistently good -- flavorful, satisfying, and reliable every single time. My husband stands ten toes down on their pasta salad, and I'll admit, it hits. Once upon a time, the sampler was $37, and yes, inflation has pushed it to $45, but for the amount of food you get, it's still one of the best deals in Vallejo. We always leave with leftovers. And do not skip the honey butter for the cornbread -- it's an absolute must. Trust me. The cowboy cookies are also non-negotiable. And service deserves its own shoutout. Over all the years we've been coming, there's hardly been a moment when service was lacking. And on the rare occasions it felt a tad short, it was only because the place was stupid packed. We come with patience, but even then, we've never walked away feeling disappointed in their attentiveness or hospitality. Decided to try as menus on yelp said there was brisket. Menues posted on Yelp lied. They no longer do brisket. Husband got a platter and said it was 'ok' but kinda dry. The only sauce they serve was sweet and bland. I being frustrated with my bbq desires ordered a smash cheeseburger which would have been better if the coleslaw o n it was something other than a mayo mess that didn't have any acid or even salt. I just ate the tri tip bun at Gracie's. All I can say is it was HELLA GOOD: Tender meat, soft bun, just delicious. The decor of the place was welcoming and had an at home feel. If you're looking for some authentic American bbq, definitely try this place: it's amazing!! read more

Drinks never got refilled and to go containers seemed like an inconvenience. I'd definitely give it another try because good bbq is hard to come by. Felt welcomed here at Gracie's. Dining at their indoor patio was a chilling experience, but fear not. Request to turn on their propane heating lamps and you should be all cozy. The food turned out great. We ordered chicken, brisket, slaw, and green beans. A preference of mine is a fatty AKA moist brisket. Their brisket is on the lean side and some may prefer it. So I've been here twice now, and I gotta say it's a decent place. Looks bigger from the outside, but it kinda small but it's a downtown spot, still looks great on the inside. The service was great and patient for it being my first time. I gotta say I wish they had some fries though, lol. Sauce was good, and we got the pit master. Decent portions and we shared the order. I also ordered something else. The cornbread was ok, I'd have to say pass on the green beans though. They taste canned. Other than that I would say give it a try especially if you live in Vallejo. Bumping up from 1-star to 4. Yes, they've improved (thankfully). Same short ribs (they didn't go back to the longer ones with ends), but now the ribs are juicy and flavorful. This place is good. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which I thought came with coleslaw & cheese, but I may have not ordered the right one. But basically it was just the pulled pork on a bun and they gave me the bbq sauce on the side. It was delicious. The flavor was insane. My husband took me there 13 year ago and we ate there last Friday 10/24/2025 at 11 am. I ordered the chicken and tri tip and he order everything. Even till today the food is AMAZING. Family owned dinner that is to die for. Must visit!!!!!! The owner is so nice and greeted his customers and thank them for coming today. He even asked if they needed anything else. My husband told me that restaurant has been opened for over 20 years and it was clean and presentable. The bathroom was cleaned and the severs are so polite and courteous. The reviews that led us to go to Gracie's were very misleading. We expected it to be fantastic but it was a horrible experience. It took nearly 40 minutes for our food to arrive - after taking our order, our server disappeared. We never saw him again. Someone else delivered it. The meat (pulled pork for me, tri-tip for my partner) was lukewarm and dry as dust. ZERO juiciness. Cole slaw was slightly sweet but bland. Disappointing. The beer - a bottle of Lagunas IPA - was the only bright spot. I walked up and asked for my check, otherwise who knows when someone would have brought it. We'd already waited too long. NOTE: Those chairs aren't designed for long-term sitting - they became uncomfortable after 20 minutes. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in years. read more

I actually hadn't been to get in several years. The last time I went I think I won a gift certificate and I came over. I thoroughly enjoyed myself that day. I was a little disappointed that's the only thing that stood alone without having to season or flavor it was the beans. The potato salad didn't have any flavor, so I poured barbecue sauce on it, which made it taste so much better. The ribs, I like a rib that tastes seasoned and delicious without adding barbecue sauce. I think barbecue sauce should set off the rib. So without the sauce I probably wouldn't have eaten the ribs. On a positive note, today was their anniversary. So the rib plate was only about $21. It's hard to find any rib plate for $20. So that was a good deal. I didn't buy anything to drink but last time I was at this location the drinks were good. Looking at the menu, the combination of flavors sounded like they would taste pretty good. If I'm in Vallejo again,. I may try something different on the menu. Service was good. It's kind of like.. you order your food, you go find a seat and you have to come back and check on your food to pick it up. I wasn't asked if this was a dine in or to go so my assumption is this is how it operates. Now that was a different experience for me. I like the fact that they do have outdoor seating. I'm assuming it's dog friendly because I saw a pet bowl back there. I dont really have anything terrible to say about Gracie's, I just wish the food had a little bit more seasoning, flavor. I really wanted to love this place. I had it once before about a year ago at a catered event and it was fantastic- all the meats were moist and perfectly flavored. Today, ordered a meat combo plate and everything was over smoked. All I could taste was smoke and no other flavor. The sides of mac and cheese and coleslaw were pretty good. Maybe it was an off day?
