My favorite was probably the link. It had just the right amount of spice (most would consider it somewhere between mild and medium spicy). You could taste the flavors and keep going back for more than one bite. The chicken was also favorite. Very flavorful and moist. Everything else was okay but I'd skip it a second time around to try something else. I can't comment on the service and ambiance since this was a to go order. I've been going to Gracie's since they opened. Always thought they did a great job and served up delicious BBQ. It's been quite a while since I've eaten there. Was in the neighborhood today and thought that some good BBQ would be awesome. So, I motored over to Gracie's and was warmly greeted by the nice lady running the front of house. She took my order of a combo chicken and rib meal with cornbread and two sides. I got potato salad and coleslaw. I sat down and a few minutes later the nice lady brought my BBQ to me. That was super fast. Zoomed home with the sweet aroma of BBQ in the truck and it took will power to keep from gnawing on a rib. But I waited. Got home and fixed myself a plate, one rib, a chicken thigh and the sides. Took one bite out of the rib and it was dry as can be. Hmmm that's not like the Gracie's of old. Took a bite of chicken thigh and it was the same way. Dry. So dry I had to drink a lot of water to wash it down. Hmmmm. Sides were decent, but nothing to write home about. Didn't eat the cornbread because of probable wheat flour to which I'm allergic to. I get the feeling my BBQ had been sitting out for a long time or maybe it was smoked too long. Sigh. Tried both the brisket and the pulled pork and both were great. Ice tea and lemonade made in house and served in giant mason jars. Their garlic roasted green beans were surprisingly really tasty. Came on a Saturday evening with my husband. They have a small parking lot, but you can find street parking w/ no problem as well. No reservation needed - we were quickly able to grab a table and be seated immediately. We ordered: - Smoked Chicken Croissant Sandwich w/ a side of Mac'N'Cheese: the croissant sandwich was good. I'd eat it again for sure. The chicken was flavorful and moist. I added a ton of bbq sauce which really set it off. - Pit Masters Plate w/ Mac'N'Cheese, Potato Salad, and cornbread: My husband liked all of the meat in this dish. By the end he was licking his fingers so I take that to mean it was good. The downside for both of us were the sides. Both the potato salad and mac n cheese lacked seasoning. The cornbread was flavorless. Next time I'll try the other side options. If you have a craving for bbq I'd recommend swinging by here. My visit during Vallejo Restaurant Week 2022. Came here for dinner with my family and boy was it cold! They have very limited seating inside but spacious patio areas! One is covered and one is outside, backyard style decorated with outdoor lights that. My family and I sat in the covered patio area (is that even correct to say?) and yes, we were still cold but toughed it out. We ordered two of The Pitmaster; which was their special during VRW 2022, and to drink, Swamp Juice and Gracie's Southern Sweet Tea. The food came out quick. I like how the meats were on a separate tray and the sides were on another. The Pitmaster came with brisket, pulled pork, chicken, hot link, and ribs. Our sides were corn bread, mash and gravy, mac and cheese. The meats: My family and I rated each item that gave us an average of 3/5. I personally liked the ribs, pulled pork, and hot link. They were tender but not fresh tender, if that makes sense. It did have that nice smokey-BBQ flavor and was seasoned well. I added a little of their BBQ sauce just to add a little more flavor, but I definitely didn't need to because it's enjoyable with or without. The brisket was a bit tough in my opinion and somewhere between bland and tasty. I didn't try the chicken, but it was a pretty big chicken leg! The sides: The cornbread needed butter. It wasn't as moist and buttery as I hoped. The mac and cheese was good but adding BBQ sauce made it tastier. The mash and gravy was good, too. Honestly, nothing too amazing about the sides. I feel like you can go about your meals without them. The drinks: Swamp Juice and Gracie's Southern Sweet Tea were both refreshing and worth it. Not too sweet! The service: Service was good. There was only one server during our visit, and he checked in on us from time to time but also giving us privacy to eat. Parking: Street parking and a small parking lot on the side. Was in the area and noticed this place on the corner downtown. You shouldn't have a hard time finding parking but it might have a time limit.. so I walked in and sat in the small bar area where there are 2 or 3 small tables. The gentleman behind the counter was very professional and attentive as he got my drink and order put in pretty quick. I got an order of brisket and added a hot link, it came with 2 sides so I got the chili and mac and cheese. The brisket was stellar along with the sauce. The hot link was standard issue, nothing amazing but nothing to complain about as it wasn't burnt either. The mac wasn't bad at all, creamy and had some seasoning to it. The chili seemed home made and proper with the cheese on top. I spent about 30 bones on my meal and I ended up giving in and getting a lemon cupcake or pastry thing which was also worth the money. We all sat together at a picnic table as we're all vaccinated now. Hubby & I ordered the Pit Master. Designed to be shared by two people. It's like a sampler plate. You can choose two sides. Consisted of: * one hot link * pulled pork - somewhat dry. Needed BBQ sauce * smoked brisket - half dozen slices. Somewhat dry too. Needed BBQ sauce. * baby back ribs - two ribs * 1/4 roasted chicken * scoop of potato salad side * scoop of coleslaw side * one cornbread * BBQ sauce Plenty of food for the two of us. I especially enjoyed the chicken and the baby back ribs. Both were tender of the bone. I ordered an Arnold Palmer. Served in a huge mason jar. Very disappointed. I've been enjoying food from Gracie's for many years. But my last couple orders have been inedible almost. Last night I ordered the ribs and link plate and a salad. I got three ribs that were way overdone and the end which was hard as a rock. The link was good but the salad which was $10 was the size of a muffin. I don't think I'll be buying from them anymore. Gracie's is a classic Vallejo family owned restaurant. I have always enjoyed having meals here since I was child. Sliced brisket plate is my favorite because it has a dry smoke on the meat that lingers on the exterior. The split chicken is juicy in the middle. I can't comment on the mashed potato because I didn't have it, but the look from it it seems like a thick and rich gravy. I got the pesto salad which is more on the dry side so maybe just a tad bit more pesto and it would be perfect. Hands down my favorite side though is the corn bread. I will order extra every time just to take home and enjoy for the next couple of days. Pro-tip warm it up and you will be in heaven!!! I have to give much respect to the owner because he always gives back to this community. He donated food for Vallejo High School's Senior Class Picnic in 2009 and 2010. He also donated a gift certificate for a meal to Vallejo Junior Giants that I used as a thank you gift to my parent volunteers. I'm sure he has done more above and beyond for our community. I had some excellent BBQ in Downtown Vallejo yesterday. It was a feast with some leftovers for later! Probably the best Smoked Whole Chicken that I ever had. The Beans and Rice side was great, the Jalapeno Cheese Sausage Link was spicy and delicious and the Smoked Brisket was perfect. I didn't have the Cheesy Mac but it looked good. I also ordered the Jambalaya Soup to go. It was good on its own but I added my leftovers to it today for another feast. Gracie's also has a nice atmosphere on both patios and plenty of parking. I've never had anything but great experiences with Gracie's. Got this order through Uber Eats (Ribs & Brisket Plate, Swamp Juice). Meats were incredibly tender and juicy. Ribs were so perfect they fell right off the bone. Brisket had great flavor and was cooked to perfection. Hot Links were nice and hot and very juicy. Cornbread was not too sweet and had a great texture to it. Got the Potato Salad and Pesto Pasta Salad. Both were very good compliments to the meats. In my past experiences dining in, the staff has always been really kind and attentive, food came out piping hot, and prices were extremely fair for the quantity and quality of food. Went here on Mother's Day with my sister after going to Dicky's BBQ and finding out they were closed. We googled BBQ near me, and Gracie's popped up. Parking was good, we found street parking. The parking lot there was way too small to park in, so we parked on the street. When we walked in, it was dark like a Dungan. The guy behind the counter did say anything to us when we walked in and had to ask if we just seat ourselves or do we wait. He said to find any open table, and someone will be right with us. We choose to eat outside; the weather was great this day. The outside seating was ok, I feel they need just a little more space out there. My sister and I both got the BBQ Brisket sandwich with 1 side. The sandwiches were very good, but the sides needed a little work. My sister got the chili, and she didn't like it at all, no crackers or onions for this chili unfortunately. I loved the chili! It had flavor and cheese, and it was thick and yummy to me. Still wish we had some crackers though. I had the pesto salad for my side, and I didn't like it at all, it tasted like it had deviled eggs in it or something with egg.
