Best barbecue in town. The brisket isn't as fall apart tender as I expect brisket to be but it's good. The ribs aren't fall off the bone either but still tasty. This place is garbage. My friend ordered lunch to be delivered to my home. Never been to Gracie's and heard so many good things about it. He ordered the Pit Master which was supposed to include ribs, chicken, links and brisket. Instead, I got 2 chicken quarters, 1 link, 1 taco and what looked like somebody's leftover dry shredded pork. The sides were gross. The Mac and cheese looked like dry flavored Macaroni Noodles and overcooked green beans. The so called brisket was dry, bland and overcooked. Sadly my friend wasted his money. Gracies is normally good it does have great customer service. Just make sure your order is correct. I picked up almost $70 of food. My order was not correct. I got pulled bbq pork instead of my 1/2 lb tri-tip . They also for got the ranch I ordered. I went back and returned the pulled pork for the tri tip I ordered. They were "nice and let us have the pork." The tri tip is so charred we can even eat it. It's all you can taste. No wonder we got to keep the pork. Can't eat the tri tip. Kids won't eat it. Real bbq joints smell like wood-fired, smokey goodness and that smell wafts for many hundreds of yards in every direction, so it's always a warning sign to me when I roll into a bbq joint and that smell is completely absent. Such was my experience at Gracie's :( We tried a big sampler platter to share and most of the meat was well cooked. The chicken in particular was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The spare ribs were tender but still had a nice bite. The brisket, however, was way overcooked, and they sliced it super thing because of it. I also requested slices from the point (fatty end) and ended up with slices from the flat. The most disappointing aspect of all the meat was the lack of smoke flavor. I can definitely appreciate subtlety when it comes to smoked meats but the I could barely taste it. I would be surprised if their meats are started and cooked through to completion using wood only - my guess is they might start some of the cook on wood but then finish it in an oven - and perhaps cheat their smoke ring with the use of a little pink salt? I can't know for sure. tl;dr Meat was well-prepared but had no discernible smoke flavor, which defeats the purpose of having bbq IMHO. Service was attentive and friendly. The one opportunity for improvement is to educate your FOH about the meats you're serving. They should know whether the pork ribs are spares or baby back, that a full packer brisket has two muscles (the flat and the point), where you cut slices for the brisket, what kind of wood you're using, etc. Not a fan and probably won't be back. I ordered the three meat combo which was supposed to be to be ribs, sausage and brisket. Unfortunately they were out of sausage so I substituted it for pulled pork. I got the mac and cheese and the pesto pasta salad and someone else in my party got the rice and gravy. The ribs were a little hard on the outside like they had been under a warming light all day but the meat closer to the bone was pretty good. The pulled pork was also pretty good nothing to wrote home about but still good. The brisket was dry and touch do not recommend. The mac and cheese was lacking the cheese more like butter noodles but still edible. The pesto pasta salad had no flavor. The rice and gravy looked gross i personally didnt enjoy it but my company did. Both plates came with cornbread which was ok. Overall i give the meal a 3.2/5. A 3 minute walk from my apartment my bf and I finally decided it was time to try Gracie's. We ordered through their website; it was easy and straight to the point. They offered pictures and great details on their options. I ultimately decided on the rib and brisket plate with mash and Mac on the side with a lemonade and my bf got the chicken and hot link plate with mash and Mac on the side as well. We were celebrating our anniversary so we were really hoping for a hearty meal. My bf walked to go pick up; they asked for the name of the order, confirmed and he was on his way. As soon as he walked through that door we were ready to dig in and we were not disappointed. The Mac and mash was real good, the ribs and brisket were excellent, and the chicken and hot links were very flavorful. Everything tasted authentic and we loved it. Even the lemonade was good and a big portion to share. The only thing out of this entire meal i would change would be the side sizes/portions. It was Fourth of July so we thought why not have some BBQ, nice vintage and bright decor and a friendly waiter greeted us as we walked in! He mentioned the restaurant originally started out as a food truck years back, how cool! We were told they were out of some sides, no problem and received our Family Style Special, the Sampler Platter and I felt like I was on an episode of Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares..everything came out lukewarm or cold like they either use a microwave or prepare everything in advance and leave it out ALL day. The meats were good, but lukewarm so weren't as appetizing to eat. The Beans & Rice were too spicy and looked canned, and the Green Beans looked canned as well, it didn't help that they were lukewarm either. The Corn Bread was good, but since it was cold, I couldn't melt the cold hard butter provided and the so-called "Special" Mac N Cheese had spiral noodles, no cheese and was both dry and flavorless. My mom mentioned the Corn Bread to our waiter and he admitted that it had been sitting out a LONG time! I didn't finish what was on my plate, since I was worried I would get sick, thankfully I didn't. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant and we will not be returning, in the future hopefully they'll have a more organized kitchen, their health score will go up and they'll serve their food hot and fresh for their customers. read more

This is a review for their salads (it's been a while since I actually had BBQ here). Sometimes I just gotta have a good salad to make my life right. A few months ago I tried the Smoked Chicken salad. DELICIOUS! They didn't skimp on the meat, it was flavorful and not dry, complimented by the perfect amount of produce. Next was the Smoky Brisket salad. Different meat but same quality. The brisket was so flavorful and moist. The Bacon & Blues was a party in my mouth. The combined flavor of a meaty bacon crumble with a creamy piece of blue cheese is amazing. Today I didn't want meat so ordered the Kitchen Sink salad which really hit the spot. Don't read the description and think that the ingredients don't belong together, they blend together nicely. The couple times I've gotten the chicken it's been dry. Pulled pork is flavorful. You can't go wrong with any of the sides. The Mac and cheese is spiced just right with paprika (?). The green beans have bacon in them. The pesto pasta is a great cold salad option. Mashed potatoes and gravy are savory and peppery. Corn bread is a tad bit dry, please ask for butter. Out of all the years I have lived in Vallejo, I have never actually sat down inside Gracie's restaurant despite passing it many times in downtown Vallejo. We were craving barbecue style food and thought of this place in our hometown. We came around 6:30 PM with a party of four on a Thursday night with no wait time. Once we walked in to the restaurant, the barbecue smell filled our noses! We ordered two trays of the pit master which comes with beef brisket, ribs, pulled pork, hot links, and chicken. It also comes with your choice of two sides. The tray came with three pieces of beef brisket. The brisket in my opinion could have been cooked a little less in my opinion to give it a more tender and medium to medium well texture. The ribs were probably my favorite out of all the meats. The meat was super tender and fell off the phone with ease. It was cooked perfectly but probably could have use a little bit more barbecue sauce. The pulled pork came with about a handful of pulled pork which was probably my second favorite. It was easy to eat but also needed a little barbecue sauce on the side to give it that extra flavor. The chicken, them not links came next to my favorite meats. The chicken was a little on tough side and if the hot links came on a bun, it would've been amazing. The corn bread was basic and needed some butter on it. The mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese were so good and would highly recommend both additions to your meal! read more

This place gets a solid 4.5 for me. It's not a perfect score only because the chicken and cornbread didn't impress me like everything else. It's all about the brisket, pulled pork & sausage. The salad selection is amazing. Tea & lemonade drinks are delicious. This is one of Vallejo's best dine-in spots for BBQ. Food is good, prices are good, service is very good, and located in the heart of downtown Vallejo where there are ample street parking. Ambience for a Sunday afternoon was average, though there is enough seating for you to distance from all the noise if that suits you. We shared this pulled pork sandwich along with a BBQ brisket plate. Sandwich was very good. Had a nice toasted soft bun. Meat was tasty and very tender. Had the sandwich on cheddar, was great! The BBQ brisket was good, though wish they had sliced it thicker and it was a slight hair on the leaner side than what I would prefer. But overall was still good. Sides of greens was very good. Potato salad was good, again prefer larger cubes of potato. Service was very good. The lady checked up on us few times and was friendly. Hubby and I don't go here a lot and we were craving BBQ and did not feel like driving across the bridge to our usual place. We decided to stay local and try this place out. We were quickly greeted and told to sit anywhere we like which we chose the outdoor area by the window. It took a few for the server to come to our table but once they did the service provided was quick, courteous and friendly. The dining area was pretty cozy and loud as there were other tables filled and kept happy as well. I ordered the brisket and chicken combo with potato salad and green beans. Hubby ordered the ribs and chicken combo with mac n cheese and green beans. Our drinks came out shortly after we placed our order and I really enjoyed the Arnold Palmer they provided. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We thought the sides were just average but the corn bread really is so delicious!! Hubby and I could not get enough of it. I was excited to try Gracie's. It always smells amazing whenever I drive by, and I finally had an opportunity to give it a try. I opted for delivery, and it was still pleasantly warm when it arrived. It smelled wonderfully, and I do think there was a decent serving of brisket. One may argue that the side portions were a bit small in relation to the price, which was the biggest downfall. The brisket itself was average and enjoyable, but their barbecue sauce was perfectly tangy and paired nicely. I would love to get a bottle of their sauce for my pantry, it was that good. Cornbread was nice, not too dry. The coleslaw was fine - I not a fan of raisins in coleslaw myself, but I liked the addition of the green apples. The Mac and cheese was the most disappointing bit. Cheese was only to be found in separated blobs. The rest was mostly just grease and paprika. I also enjoyed their Swamp Juice, which was sweet tea and lemonade mixed. I fell in LOVE with the Smoked Turkey at Thanksgiving (Seriously, the best I've ever had and I don't like Turkey!!!) and I started stopping by to pickup the smoked chicken OMG!! So freaking good!!! I should have bought 2 (4 of us ate it at one setting) . The cornbread and the BBQ sauce was excellent. My Granddaughter really liked the Mac and Cheese (super picky 4yro) I couldn't eat it (not GF) . We can't wait until Summer so we can party outside! The only thing, green beans too tender !! OK I have been eating their BBQ since it was served from a trailer on Springs road back in the 90s. I have enjoyed their food over the years but have some comments No matter what others say the tri tip is not the end all be all tri tip that some make it out to be, as a matter of fact I end up feeling disappointed whatever entree I get it in. I find it to be dry and tastless The side salad and small pies are the best in Vallejo I enjoy the baby back ribs but sorely miss the spare ribs that are no longer on the menu. Also the menu prices have gone up by a fair amount recently. I understand operating a restaurant in downtown Vallejo has its own set of challenges, OK what I am trying to say as a good customer is that I do find your BBQ as good as I used to and with the higher prices I will be dining there less. read more
