Loved the outdoor seating! I was like enjoying the afternoon in someone's backyard. Food was fresh, made to order so it took some time. We had the Ban Mi, spicy chicken sandwich, fish & chips & the Jalapeño & bacon mac n cheese. Mac n cheese was FAB! Chicken sando was two thumbs up. The other two were good but really not worth mentioning. Service by the lady who worked the register was great! The gal who brought out our food was meh. I guess we were really turned off when we asked for extra napkins and she said something to the effect of "if I have time, I'm really busy and there are other people I have to help!" Well, excuse us! The customer is great, the people here are neighborhood friendly and clearly city locals. The food has never disappointed. We would love to give this place a five star review, the ambience is amazing. The food is actually delicious. The beers are mid, but that's ok! We we always order mac & cheese as one of our entrées, and normally the woman is so kind and letting us know that it will be at least a 20 minute wait for them to bake the mac & cheese, which we are completely OK with. Unfortunately, the last two times we have had to wait extremely long times for the mac & cheese, today being the worst. We came in right at opening and we ordered their mac & cheese and another entrée, we were the first ones to order and we went outside and enjoyed our time. 30 minutes later our first entrée came out, which is wonderful! unfortunately, 30 minutes later, we had to ask for our mac & cheese. when the woman realized that we hadn't gotten it, instead of just apologizing, she said I didn't know that you guys needed mac & cheese, You still hace orders ahead of you. We were literally the first people to put in our order. I'm frustrated because she didn't care and I have told so many people about this place. Beware service will not always be great. What a great first dine-in experience! I was blown away by the staff and service! I met friends here a few days before Christmas, and it was my first time coming here for drinks and food. Right when you enter, you immediately get the cozy vibes. They had a Christmas tree lit, and you could tell the conversations and drinks were flowing. Although it was a bit chilly outside, we opted for outdoor seating. Luckily, they had heaters on on their back porch area, which kept all of us nice and toasty. For our first round of drinks, between the four of us, we ordered three hard ciders and one IPA, plus a bunch of appetizers to share. The pineapple cider was delicious! I had one drink and that's all I really needed. My friends went for a second round and ordered a couple more pineapple ciders and an IPA. The food was delicious! We got the fries, popcorn chicken, chicken potstickers, and the veggie eggrolls. From what I know, the menu rotates based on what's seasonally available, so this is just what was on the menu at the time. Everything came out piping hot and with some yummy sauces! Now what really set this experience apart from other restaurant experiences I've had recently was the service. I believe we may have been served by one of the business owners, Kat, at the time. She was so sweet and helpful when we were making our drink selections, and took the time to get to know each and every customer that came up to the register. And then toward the end of our visit, I came back to place a to-go order to take home to my husband. Because we weren't being mindful of our time, I didn't even realize that they were getting ready to close, and the kitchen was starting to pack up for the night. Graciously, she checked in with the kitchen staff and was able to swing me a chicken sandwich and fries to go. So nice of her! Hopulent is temporarily closed for winter break, and they plan to open back during SF Beer week in February. I am so excited to see what new items they put on their menu, and to just enjoy some time relaxing and hanging out in their cool space when they reopen. read more

Really cool, chill little spot. It seems very personable and it would be a place where one can just enjoy themselves. I was kind of afraid of going an hour before closing, but staff was really friendly and made our food to perfection. The chicken sandwich was amazing, buttermilk style, juicy and tender. Not noticeably salty. Fries that came with it were really good and crispy. The Mac and cheese was just the classic, but it was cheesy and flavorful. The food took like 20 Min to make, but it was worth it. There's also a back patio but seemed a little breezy in the afternoon. I would go back to try other items. Wow what a great place. Located in Vallejo, this brewery is amazing. From the beer selection to the food, it is all well done. Service is very friendly and very knowledgeable. The inside is a little small but the back patio is beautiful. So far my favorite item has been the meatball marinara. One of the best meatballs I've had in my life so far. The chicken sandwich is great, with an amazing crunch outside. The Mac and cheese always hits well and has a bold, cheesy flavor and not a soupy taste. The beer selection, again, is great. They have a great food menu too! I usually get a Mac and cheese combo. If you're familiar with Homeroom restaurant in Oakland, Hopulent mac reminds me of theirs, but better (and closer!). Pesto Mac is always consistently good, but you can't go wrong with any of them. Service for food is a bit longer but so worth the wait. Staff is always so welcoming. Went on a Thursday night. We've seen this place but finally decided to go. I'm so glad we did! First off the young lady behind the counter was such a personable happy person. You can tell she enjoys her job and her clientele. She helped me pick out my beer from a huge selection. Then came to the food. We like spicy and it wasn't a hard choice. I was mostly there for the beer and my hubby for the food. I'm honestly not a burger nor a Mac n cheese kind of girl. Well, up until the day I ate at Hopulent. We ordered the Hopulent burger which has bacon and jalapeños and the Hopulent Mac and cheese also comes with bacon and jalapeños. We went out to the back patio and it was like a little oasis in our, well you know. Great ambiance with some nice music playing through the speakers. Lovely potted plants everywhere. Then the outdoor lights came on. I didn't dress for the cooler weather so we went inside. A few regulars started talking to us about the beers. It was super nice and chill. Then the food came and wow! Was is amazing! I tried the burger first and I was... this burger is incredible. Then I took a bite of the Mac n cheese. I was left speechless. My brain couldn't decide which one was better. In am honestly we ate there last week. I thought I needed a week to process. And guess what? I still can't decide. Hopulent is a cozy little place in a cute building on Tennessee Street. There is also heated outdoor seating in the back which I did not check out. They have a large menu of foods and beverages. Apparently, their specialty is their varieties of mac n cheese. I had a bahn mi sandwich. It was a very good sandwich but didn't scream out with the typical bahn mi flavorings. They also have a large selection of bottled and draft beers, wines, kombucha, ciders, and non-alcoholic beverages. If a place is going to use beer as a selling point, they need to have variety. Happened upon Hopulent on the way back to West Sacramento from Bodega Bay. We walked in and were greeted by Kat. We ordered a Fried Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich with all condiments on the side and the Mac & Cheese (Pesto-tomato/added chicken and extra cheese). My hubby and I bantered while ordering about which spice level we should get as I am all about the hotter the better and the hubs is less so, and Kat cleared everything up for us by offering to put everything on the side and giving us different sauces and plates so we could try each other's meals easily. Although we were perfectly happy to get everything in To-Go containers, she brought out this Heaven on Earth sandwich with the best looking crinkle cut fries I've seen since the 80s. To our surprise, everything tasted even better than it looked. It is apparent that this food is prepared with love and the ingredients used are so fresh and so obviously carefully selected. Hats off to Kat's brother, the chef, as everything was sinfully delicious!!! Also worth mentioning is that we were welcomed by the local folks and a nice mellow pup on the patio. I remember passing by this place last Summer wondering what is this I see? The business is camouflaged amongst the homes in the area, with its Victorian style home exterior. I could never tell if it was open, then earlier this year I started to see Yelp reviews. It was a sunny day, so I decided to give them a try. They have a large variety of beers, ciders and kombucha (many local). Not being a big beer drinker I asked for a recommendation. The cashier advised I try one of the month's features.- sure. I added the Louie's Shrimp toast to go along side. The shrimp toast was delicious, a mix of bay shrimp, cheese, jalapeño and some other ingredients. The beer was also good. The outside back area is cute and quaint. I also appreciate the many sanitizing dispensers throughout the restaurant & back patio. Not much seating, but if you're fortunate enough to get a seat, the back area is quite a relaxing space to catch up with friends. There are a few seats in front as well. Feels good supporting local businesses when the service and products are both great. Hopulent is a must try. read more
