I'm writing another review because I just can't say enough about how wonderful David and Kat and everyone at Hopulent are. The food is always delicious with a rotating seasonal menu. The best fries I've ever had anywhere. Fantastic drinks including an amazing bloody mary. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor and outdoor seating and a beautiful multilevel patio area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the cleanest, most pristine bathroom I have ever seen, that bathroom is spotless.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Kat remembers our kids names, even between long stretches where we haven't come in for dinner in a minute. David and Kat promised our daughter they would make her a special Very Berry Mac and Cheese for her birthday. Something off menu, made to order just for our 5 year old, and just asked us to call the day before so they could be sure to have the berries. She felt so special and loved by these wonderful people who went out of their way to be kind to a neighborhood kid. AND Kat surprised us with mini berry cupcakes at the end of the meal. The other two were good but really not worth mentioning. Service by the lady who worked the register was great! The gal who brought out our food was meh. I guess we were really turned off when we asked for extra napkins and she said something to the effect of "if I have time, I'm really busy and there are other people I have to help!" Well, excuse us! I have driven past Hopulent many times but never stopped until recently. I thought it was more of a pub style place but it serves good comfort food. Staff were inviting and friendly from the start. The lady behind the counter treated us as if we were regulars. She provided us with recommendations that turned out to be good choices. Portions were large and felt like home cooked meals. Hopulent has both indoor and outdoor seating with a large selection of craft beers. Street parking can be tricky depending on the day. Wow what a sleeper of a place. What a great first dine-in experience! I was blown away by the staff and service! I met friends here a few days before Christmas, and it was my first time coming here for drinks and food. Right when you enter, you immediately get the cozy vibes. They had a Christmas tree lit, and you could tell the conversations and drinks were flowing. Although it was a bit chilly outside, we opted for outdoor seating. Luckily, they had heaters on on their back porch area, which kept all of us nice and toasty. For our first round of drinks, between the four of us, we ordered three hard ciders and one IPA, plus a bunch of appetizers to share. The pineapple cider was delicious! I had one drink and that's all I really needed. My friends went for a second round and ordered a couple more pineapple ciders and an IPA. The food was delicious! We got the fries, popcorn chicken, chicken potstickers, and the veggie eggrolls. From what I know, the menu rotates based on what's seasonally available, so this is just what was on the menu at the time. Everything came out piping hot and with some yummy sauces! Now what really set this experience apart from other restaurant experiences I've had recently was the service. I believe we may have been served by one of the business owners, Kat, at the time. She was so sweet and helpful when we were making our drink selections, and took the time to get to know each and every customer that came up to the register. And then toward the end of our visit, I came back to place a to-go order to take home to my husband. Because we weren't being mindful of our time, I didn't even realize that they were getting ready to close, and the kitchen was starting to pack up for the night. Graciously, she checked in with the kitchen staff and was able to swing me a chicken sandwich and fries to go. So nice of her! Hopulent is temporarily closed for winter break, and they plan to open back during SF Beer week in February. I am so excited to see what new items they put on their menu, and to just enjoy some time relaxing and hanging out in their cool space when they reopen. read more

Really cool, chill little spot. It seems very personable and it would be a place where one can just enjoy themselves. I was kind of afraid of going an hour before closing, but staff was really friendly and made our food to perfection. The chicken sandwich was amazing, buttermilk style, juicy and tender. Not noticeably salty. Fries that came with it were really good and crispy. The Mac and cheese was just the classic, but it was cheesy and flavorful. The food took like 20 Min to make, but it was worth it. There's also a back patio but seemed a little breezy in the afternoon. I would go back to try other items. I drove out of my damn way to get to Hopulent. And then I arrive and walk in ready to order my crispy chicken sandwich and guess what. They don't have it in the menu. Why. Wow what a great place. Located in Vallejo, this brewery is amazing. From the beer selection to the food, it is all well done. Service is very friendly and very knowledgeable. The inside is a little small but the back patio is beautiful. So far my favorite item has been the meatball marinara. One of the best meatballs I've had in my life so far. The chicken sandwich is great, with an amazing crunch outside. The Mac and cheese always hits well and has a bold, cheesy flavor and not a soupy taste. The beer selection, again, is great. Consisting of local breweries, they have a wide selection that is always changing. Will be back for more great times. The food will take a little bit of time, but grab a beer and sit back and relax. We stayed in Vallejo back in September for our Napa trip and I am just now getting around to leaving all of my reviews. We stopped in here for a couple of beers and food after we arrived in Vallejo because we had an hour or so before we could check into our airbnb. It was nice because it ended up being just a couple of minutes from the airbnb! They had a very nice selection of beers to choose from. We ordered our drinks and food and then sat outside on the patio to get some sun. They had a lot of plants growing in planters all around, so it was pretty despite it only being a multi-level deck. The staff were friendly, the food was good, and the beers even better. A lovely neighborhood spot for some drinks and snacks. read more

Her brother is in the back creating a diverse selection of mouthwatering dishes with specials throughout the week. Went on a Thursday night. We've seen this place but finally decided to go. I'm so glad we did! First off the young lady behind the counter was such a personable happy person. You can tell she enjoys her job and her clientele. She helped me pick out my beer from a huge selection. Then came to the food. We like spicy and it wasn't a hard choice. I was mostly there for the beer and my hubby for the food. I'm honestly not a burger nor a Mac n cheese kind of girl. Well, up until the day I ate at Hopulent. We ordered the Hopulent burger which has bacon and jalapeños and the Hopulent Mac and cheese also comes with bacon and jalapeños. We went out to the back patio and it was like a little oasis in our, well you know. Great ambiance with some nice music playing through the speakers. Lovely potted plants everywhere. Then the outdoor lights came on. I didn't dress for the cooler weather so we went inside. A few regulars started talking to us about the beers. It was super nice and chill. Then the food came and wow! Was is amazing! I tried the burger first and I was... this burger is incredible. Then I took a bite of the Mac n cheese. I was left speechless. My brain couldn't decide which one was better. In am honestly we ate there last week. I thought I needed a week to process. And guess what? I still can't decide. I told my husband we'll have to go again and do it all over again so I can make sure. I wish they opened at 10 on Friday's lol. Yes, I would be there. Hopulent is a cozy little place in a cute building on Tennessee Street. There is also heated outdoor seating in the back which I did not check out. They have a large menu of foods and beverages. Apparently, their specialty is their varieties of mac n cheese. I had a bahn mi sandwich. It was a very good sandwich but didn't scream out with the typical bahn mi flavorings. They also have a large selection of bottled and draft beers, wines, kombucha, ciders, and non-alcoholic beverages. If a place is going to use beer as a selling point, they need to have variety. Their selection includes many beers that I have not had or even heard of. Impressive. I will be back. I'd like to try some other foods and beers from the menu. read more

A new date night favorite for me and hubby with hearty and imaginative flavors - especially the mac and cheese that seems to vary regularly- so what menu that listed on their website may not be current. I'm not a drinker, but hubby loves his cold brew and was pleased to have a chance to sample a couple that caught his eye before he settled on a frosty one he really enjoyed with our meal. I had the portobello burger that was huge and juicy. Hubs had a pulled pork on a sourdough roll. He gave me a taste of his, and I know I'll order that next time!
