Came here for the first time for the Coffee & Brunch event to celebrate the Flow Roast coffee launch, and I just adore this spot. I know that it's still in its early stages, but I love the concept of having a place in Vallejo where you can grab a drink and a bite, hang with your friends, and listen to some nice music. There aren't many places for us in town to do this later in the day, and it's such a great space to do it. I really love the outdoor seating area they have in the back. It was a nice, sunny day when I was there, but there's shade over most of the tables. I can see this being a great place for students to study, creatives to work or meet up, a date night, or even a family/friend get together. We missed the brunch portion of the event (I think they were serving Filipino silogs), but stayed long enough to order something off of their regular standing menu. The whipped white beans with veggies and their potato chips was sooooo good! The perfect afternoon snack. And the hot & salty cookie was delightful! First time here. This place has a cool vibe. When I walked in, they were spinning some vinyl records. People are super friendly and attentive. And the place is spotless, even the bathroom, which is always a good sign. I tried the River Fog tea, made with bergamot orange black tea. It was flavorful and a solid serving for only $6. I also ordered the charred olives. They were only $6 and absolutely fire! They serve coffee, tea, wine, draft beer, and small plates, making this a great spot for a date or to hang out with friends. There's plenty of seating inside and a spacious back patio that's perfect for larger groups. Wine by the glass runs about $7 to $10, and draft beers are around $8, which is a better value than nearby Mare Island Brewery. Tip: Park a block or two away. It'll make finding parking much easier. This was my second time here in two weeks and I need more people to know about this amazing spot in Vallejo! Village is like a hipster wine lounge with an eclectic food selection. Cue the dj playing music just soft enough that you can tap your feet but still carry a conversation with those in your party. While the inside is a bit small, the outdoor area has tables and chairs to get fresh air and lounge under the sun (or stars). During my last visit, I tasted bites directly from their menu. Our favorite thing we ate was the ham and jam toast - the only thing I'd change is that it leaned mostly savory. Give me a touch more sweetness and I'm sold for next time. Tonight I enjoyed food from their pop up collab and enjoyed a celery soda and fish sandwich. I came with my mom and we also shared the Vietnamese bbq chips and a black sesame cookie. That sandwich was pretty incredible - a thin piece of fried fish topped with an extra creamy and dill forward tartar sauce. Service is order up front and then they brought us our food and drink. This place is a vibe. I'm talking Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, cool. Local is what I'm looking for and what I found here when it comes to a beer or two. Shoutout to Ben for providing perfect service and sharing the deets about what happens here such as Monday popups. The outdoor patio is perfect and spacious enough for a group of friends. Don't believe that 2 star review down there idk what place they experienced but it's not the one I went to. This place has good wine (both on tap and bottled). We were offered a free bar snack, kettle chips, during our first visit. They have great DJs come through. The sound system is perfectly fine. A "2nd hand sound system from the 1970s" isn't necessary, take that vintage stereo circlejerk bs elsewhere... also a disclaimer I do not know the owners I am a Filipino guy from San Bruno california and I spend a lot of time in Vallejo and I want Vallejo businesses to win. We heard about Village from the SF Chronicle article. Since it's right down the street we decided to meet a friend here before a show. The servicers were warm and friendly. We weren't clear if we needed to order at the bar or wait for our servicer. We ended up ordering from the bar. Upon leaving we did see a small sign, that says Order at the Bar and Bust your own table. I don't think we busted our own table... sorry . They may want to make that sign bigger and have a couple scattered around the space for clarity. We had already had dinner, so we just ordered the cookies which was awesome, my wife said it was too sweet for her but I loved it. It came out warm, which was a nice touch. The only thing that could have elevated it was some vanilla ice cream. When our friend came, she wanted a glass of bold red, but the red they had by the glass was a light red blend, she tried it but it wasn't what she was looking for; so we had to buy a bottle so she could get the red she wanted. I do wish there were a few more options by the glass because we were just meeting up and didn't really have time to finish a bottle, but we sent the bottle home with our friend. Overall, the space is nice, clean, modern and there's an outdoor area that will be really nice when it gets warmer. Our friend is from out of the area and she had a hard time finding the spot because it kind of looks like a house. This new spot has such a wonderful vibe, truly unexpected. Hidden away on Tennessee Street, it feels like a special secret. Once you step inside, you're transported to a completely different place. The layout is lovely and inviting, and the staff's knowledge of their products is impressive. I enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and a selection of the delicious bites available. I especially can't rave enough about the ham and jam, it's such a tasty choice, with perfectly balanced flavors. I look forward to returning to this place again and again. read more

Meh. Do better. Vallejo just accepts mediocrity, as if it deserves it. The food was bla, the sound system was bla, the music was bla, and the drinks were bla... but the people were nice. Vallejo always has that going for it. This place could be so much more, if only those involved in the business spent a little time to really think through how to get better quality for the price. Spend a little time to figure out a signature drink and for Gawd's Sake get a decent 2nd hand sound system from the 1970s if you can't afford a new one. Sigh... Vallejo. You can be so much more. Don't accept scraps when you are such a special place in the world. Following up with the owner's response: First, just because you get one negative review, don't ask all your little friends to go writing 5-star reviews that mention the things that I complained about and are posted within 24 hours of my review. It is totally sus, especially when they haven't reviewed anything in 10 years. Second, the opinion was not just mine, as I came with a group of friends who were excited to check it out (and who also love VJO). We purchased a variety of food and drinks and were excited to share, but, as an ethnically diverse group with experience in the bar industry, we also know how things should be done. So happy Village has opened! Sharing a wall with Personal Space art gallery (also high on my VJO favorites list), Village is already attracting Vallejo's diverse community of artists, writers, musicians, and other interesting, engaging people. The small plates, made with locally-sourced ingredients, are a real treat: pho-flavored potato chips were a delightful surprise (yes, tastes like the soup broth!); charred olives with chili crisp are a yummy starter with a glass of white wine; white bean dip is silky smooth and comes with a colorful variety of veggies to scoop it up; savory lumpia with lettuce wraps, sprigs of cilantro and mint, and dipping sauce have a nice, spicy kick to them; the cookie I had for dessert was big in size and flavor. They have a good selection of wines by the bottle, and two by-the-glass wines -- a white and a light red. I'm hoping they will expand their by-the-glass offerings, but I'm happy with the two they offer, and no doubt my friends and I will be sharing each others' bottles. I also enjoyed the house-made bergamot shrub from their non-alcohol selection. OK, yeah, so I kinda pigged out, but the prices were quite reasonable. Village's vibe is exactly what I was hoping for. Unlike bars, Village is the kind of place that I, as a woman, feel comfortable being there solo as well as with friends. It's a space that inspires conversations with strangers while also allowing you to quietly enjoy the scene and the music (all vinyl records, yay!) with your bev of choice. inside Village it feels like a dreamy alternate realm where everything in the world is good. the non-alcoholic drink options are so life changing that it feels like there is a before i've tried them and after that emerges from the first sip. the food is so delicious and inventive. i tried the whole current menu and you truly cannot go wrong. if you're looking for a non-alcoholic drink, try the cascara pomegranate ginger drink. at first sip, there's a sequence of different flavors the drink moves through like magic. i've been so sad ever since my favorite place (Standard Fare) closed and Village came in to save the day and has moved into the #1 food spot in my heart. the atmosphere and environment is so beautiful and thoughtfully curated. the tables are somehow the perfect height and the lighting is soft and vibey. they told me that the carpenter who built the bar and hi-fi vinyl shelves and dj booth is Elias Foerster. he stopped by while i was dining in and i'm going to hire him to build me sonic furnishings for my home recording studio. the owners & the crew are so friendly and sweet. thank you for bringing your vision to life! i will definitely be back for the all vinyl dj sets with rotating residencies. much love to all and congratulations on opening! read more
