I hope I never have to deal with this company again. They could never figure out when they will be finished, delaying the delivery multiple times, often with only a 24 hours notice. This cost me a fortune in car rental fees, and they refused to reimburse me for it. I had to get my truck repaired after a minor accident with a deer. I chose Gerber as they work with my insurance company and they have good reviews. The employees were friendly, kept me up to date and had my truck back to me rather quickly. The truck looks as good as it did before the accident. Asked what the median turnaround time is for a repair, she said she can't tell me for my car, b/c every car is different. I said I'm not asking about *my* car, I'm asking about the median for *all other* cars. She said all other cars are different. I said I know, that's why I'm asking for the median. We went round and round on this, but I think she wasn't trying to be unhelpful, she likely just didn't know what the word "median" means. (But in that case, she should have just simply said so.) Got a text msg. to remind me of my "1:00" appt., though the appt. was actually for 1:30pm. I called and the tech said 1:30 was okay, but he hadn't gotten the paperwork from the insurance company, so they could do the estimate but just not give it to us yet. I said that's fine, so I went in, but when I got there the receptionist said they wouldn't even *look* at the vehicle until they had the paperwork in hand. (This was the same person who didn't understand "median".) But she talked to the tech, and he said he could go ahead and take the pictures even though they didn't have the paperwork from insurance. The tech was friendly and helpful, and the work was good. UPDATE: After I posted this review, the manager called me to address my concern. As with the receptionist, at first he didn't understand that I wasn't trying to find the turnaround time for *my* car, but rather the median for *all* cars. Eventually though he did get it, and said it's currently 11-12 days. read more

This is a preferred shop for USAA. I've used their preferred shops before and never had a problem. I won't use Gerber again. They gave the estimate for a fender bender, but someone forgot to order a part. That part - front impact bar - was on it's way several times, but disappeared or was delayed. After telling me, they could not let me have the car without it because it was not safe- this is 30 days in - they then offered to let me have it if I waived their liability. That is both unethical and unprofessional. About two more weeks go by. After 45 days, we finally get our car. The first time I opened the rear hatch, a part broke off. They say it's cosmetic and two weeks later the part is still on order. I'm thinking they did not calibrate the automatic closer and the next one will break as well. Below the franchise owner will be expressing his sincere apology that we are not happy. They just don't get it. Our feelings aren't hurt. We are frustrated that once they have your car you have no choice but to wait and wait and wait. And your insurance proves to be no advocate either. I'm ready to try a mom and pop shop. read more

These guys are fantastic. I mean, from start to finish, they were dependable, communicative, and friendly. I was hit by a car a few months ago, and my insurance company referred me to another company that kept pushing me off for weeks at a time and had really bad customer service. Asked for another referral, and got Gerber. Gerber took care of my issue immediately, and they kept me informed every step of the way. Lots of women work here, and they were all so nice and professional. I recommend Gerber 100%. The back of my car was totally smashed, and they restored it to like new. They even washed my car (it had been sitting, broken, under a tree for a few weeks and was covered in a sap kind of substance). Thanks Gerber! read more

I was told 4-5 business days to perform the work. We are on business day 10 and still no word when it will be ready. Made many attempts to call the shop and are presented with voicemail. Left voice messages and no return call. Sorry, when I call a place of business, I expect someone to actually answer the phone. Too much to ask for? I don't think so. After getting the vehicle back, it looks pretty good, although upon changing my oil one day, I noticed they left the inside fender wheel splash guard off... They just didn't bother putting it back on, or lost it in all the parts lying on the floor. read more

Have used them twice. The quality of the work is there however, since Gerber Collision took over it's no longer the same. They are short staffed. Its hard to get a quote from them lately and they hardly ever return my emails and calls. They seem to only take big insurance jobs and never have time for me or to schedule me in. I gave up on them. I was involved in an accident and their insurance was paying for it. When trying to select a place to take my car they informed they had availability and could do the needed work. I was originally told the car would be finished within days and that I'd receive communication about where the work was at. After 9 days I called in to ask about my car and they informed me that they took the car out of a 'favor' to me and were at full capacity when they took my car which was never communicated because I would have went elsewhere. They then had my car for roughly 15-16 days. When they finally followed up on their own they told me on a Wednesday it would be finished by that Friday. I didn't receive my car until the next Tuesday because they broke a clip on it and had to order a new part. When picking up my car from them the girl at the front desk mad e a remark that was extremely rude. 'We'll have your car out to you in a few minutes and then we'll never have to see you again'. Please keep in mind the only pushback I gave them was the only time I ever called asking about my car and explaining it was unprofessional to me that they didn't tell me they were at capacity and it just seemed like they took the car to gain new business. I guess asking for an update an then asking why all the information in timeframe wasn't disclosed is too much to expect as a body shop. The car seems to be fine so as far as the work they did it seems to be ok, but their communication and professionalism is way below subpar. Being in tech sales as my career I'd recommend making it a requirement for some customer service training to anyone speaking to customers, especially your front desk employee. read more

I am so grateful for AusTex. I accidentally walked into the place next door and it was SO awkward. No one greeted me and I just stood there for a few minutes. Then they told me the place I was supposed to go was next door! As soon as I walked in to AusTex, everyone was SO nice. Allison helped me with my rental car quickly so I could get to work Monday morning. I dropped my car off and they had it back to me by Wednesday looking like a new car. The text updates were great. Paul is a great guy and did such a great job on my car. They cleaned my carpet, the car smelled so clean inside, and they even shined my tires! I was amazed how nice my car looked. Unfortunately, when I first moved here to Austin, I was involved in a car accident that nearly totaled my car. Thankfully, Aus-Tex was able to repair my car in a timely fashion, only taking about four days to replace my windshield, front right tire, replace the airbags, realign the wheels, etc. It was actually expected to take twice as long so I am very pleased! So far, there have not been any problems with my car after the repairs and I'm hoping it stays that way. The only complaint I can think of is that they forgot to reattatch the shade on my the passenger's side. read more

Paul was the service advisor that helped me when I dropped my truck off and throughout but everyone I encountered was professional and quick to write my vehicle up, go over needed repairs and get me on my way. It is always obvious when you are dealing with a well run shop- how clean everything is (or isn't) and the attitude of staff. I used to run a repair shop and that doesn't come easy. My repair was a bumper on a 13 yr old truck which in the ticket average scheme of things means little to their day but I was treated like it as important as anything they were doing. I'm only writing about the storage-lot aspect of this business. I was rear-ended Friday morning and my pickup was towed to AusTex for storage. Today my insurance company asked me to get my stuff out of the truck and tell AusTex that they'd be picking it up. The woman behind the window was very polite and took care of everything promptly, and a man escorted me to my truck while I emptied out the cab. I'd read horror stories on the Web about storage lots, but this was completely painless. The guy even told me "Sorry about the accident". read more

Went to these guys through GEICO for minor damages sustained to the right rear area of my car when someone merged into my lane. Dean worked with me on the repairs. Overall I felt the quality of their work was high and the turn around time was good. I was a little disappointed when the on site adjuster said the car would be ready later that day but Dean said the car would be done two days time max. As a GEICO customer the rental pickup and drop off was seamless. After the work was done I took the car to the dealer to have my breaks checked and the service adviser commented on the high quality of the work. They also clean the car and the tires and wheels so it looked very nice. I think they also washed under the hood, which I would have preferred them not to, but it's okay considering everything else they did was very good. I would recommend this business, especially if you are a GEICO customer. read more

This last time Paul assisted me and he was WONDERFUL! They completed the work in a super timely manner. I had a dent the size of a basketball- they clearly explained each part that needed to be replaced/fixed or painted and the total was no different than the quote. (i was on my 3rd estimate- these guys are incredible, I KNEW where i was leaving my car after meeting with them). I came to Gerber after a minor accident in my 2018 BMW X1 - I needed the exterior of my car door and my windshield replaced. They were truly awful. They said it would take two weeks. It took nearly 2 months. The worst part is, they would never communicate anything to me. I would call them after the two week mark asking if I could pick up my car and they'd say they needed another week. This happened time and time again. They would never call me to communicate their need for extra time so I had to find a way to reach them (not easy, and the guy who was working on my car left for vacation in the middle of my fix and failed to transfer it to anyone.. we discovered this after I called asking where my car was). And each time they would lie saying they only needed another week. I told them that if they were waiting on parts that I could keep my car until they received them but they refused, saying it would only be "another week", *2 months cough cough*. At one point they didn't even know where my car was!! Then after I finally get my car back, the auto rain sensor for the windshield wipers doesn't work. Before I can go back in to get it fixed, the windshield cracks. This was one week after getting it fixed. It cracked overnight while it was parked in my driveway. It also happened to coincide with a temperature increase indicating a faulty installation. I take it back in to show them that the new crack was in warranty but they simply disagreed and there was nothing I could do. They also claim that they cannot fix the rain sensor because they would have to take off the now-cracked windshield to do so. I then go to Safelite to get a new windshield and explain that the rain sensor install was done incorrectly and they show me that all you have to do to fix that is unscrew the rearview mirror - the Gerber people lied to my face about this because they didn't want to deal with it. ALSO, the reason the sensor didn't work was because they failed to replace the pad on the sensor which is standard to any windshield replacement. Not sure why, likely they had/have no idea what they're doing - that's the impression I got. I really cannot stress enough - do NOT go to this shop. I never leave reviews and generally think of myself as pretty easy going but my experience with these people was so absurd I felt I had to say something to hopefully save someone else from experiencing the same gaslighting I did. read more

I had my bumper painted at Austex at 201 Braker Ln. In Austin. The paint didn't mach the rest of the car , and there was some screws and snaps missing off the engine cover which they took off during the process. Also it seems to me that they spilled a drop of Thinner on the fender where the paint peeled off , I will never ever go back to that shop. Stay away from that shop. read more

Wow where to begin. I will start with the only positive thing about this place. The receptionist was very friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. Now to the many cons. I was involved in a car accident in early November that was not my fault and it banged my fairly new car up pretty bad. This place was recommended by the girl's insurance that caused my wreck. I went with them, got an estimate, and they told me it would be out in a week and a half. It ended up being about 3 weeks. Luckily the girl's insurance covered my rental car during this time or else I would have been even more furious. Finally got it back and noticed the "check engine light" was on, which was not on when I got in the accident. They told me it just had to do with emissions and would go off automatically, which I know was a big lie. I had them check it out the next week and turns out they screwed up a O2 sensor in my car and it had to be shipped to the dealership to be fixed so had to get another rental car which was again covered by the girl's insurance. So the Nissan dealership got my car out in a day and I was able to drive it until I noticed a parking light was out on the same side as my accident. I contacted Tommy, one of the staff members there, about it and he had an attitude about me contacting them about it. It was NOT out when I got in the accident so that means they caused it to be out. I take it in and say hi to Tommy. He rolls his eyes, grabs my keys, and says "probably just a bulb, you obviously didn't check the bulb." An hour later, Tommy brings me my keys back and I say thank you, and all he says was "yep a bulb, just like I knew it was," Again, he is lying because if it was a bulb it wouldn't take an hour to replace it. He was not friendly at all. Also, they didn't put my hood back on correctly and I noticed it was lopsided, I will deal with it elsewhere. This place has tested my last nerve, I do not trust them. I would not recommend this body shop to my worst enemy. read more

I got in a wreck in my pickup last year. The tow truck just happened to be from this place, and rather than pay to have it towed elsewhere I just went with the flow. BAD IDEA! The driver side of the bed was crushed under, broken axle, and broken shock mount. It took them over a month to get all the parts together, then they started to take the truck apart and figured out the rocker panel was mangled. If they had done a full check, instead of a brief visual inspection first, they would have known that! It took almost two months to repair a 2005 F150. The most common truck in texas. Rod never calls anyone, even after I asked him to repeatedly. I had to call them every 2 or 3 days to get an update. This happened over 6 months ago, so maybee I am holding a grudge, but I just found yelp, so I am helping out anybody who might get roped into these guys. Dont!!!!!!! read more

After experiencing some awful customer service with another local company regarding simply getting an estimate for a completely covered repair, I asked my coverage provider for another company and they recommended Gerber. From the moment I called Blake was an amazing help and reassured me that they would take great care of my car. What the other company stated would take them 7-10 business days to repair Blake made sure I got my car back in 48 hrs! He was very prompt in submitting the estimate and ensures that I was notified every step of the way regarding the progress of the job! Paul was a great help when I arrived to pick up my car, they took their time going through all of the paperwork and made sure that they answered any and all of my questions! Even though my repairs were all exterior, they vacuumed all three rows of my vehicle! I will absolutely be recommending them to everyone I know. My car is still in the shop, but so far so good. They've been pretty nice. They got me a great rental car through Enterprise, which is awesome considering I was out a ride due to no fault of my own. (My parked car was hit by a GEICO driver who wasn't paying attention.) It is a bit strange that for bumper damage that was projected to take a day, two days max, has taken over 5 days. I still haven't heard from them, but like I said, I'm extremely happy with my rental (a.k.a. take all the time you need boys!). I'll definitely update the review upon completion of my repairs. My initial impressions were 5/5. However, by the time I was done with the place I say 1/5. A car rear ended me and I was recommended by Geico to this shop. They replaced all the body damage that was needed and even worked in a better bumper than I had before. Awesome right? Well, literally two miles down the road after leaving their lot my truck makes a loud POP sound and the engine sounded like it was winding extremely high. I turn around to return to Aus-Tex and my truck completely shuts off. No power steering. No electrical. Nothing. THEN smoke starts pouring out from under my hood and my truck starts draining oil. I'm using this term correctly: I LITERALLY just pulled out of their shop and all this happens. My truck was in healthy condition prior to rolling into the shop. At the end of the day, the shop or Geico did not take responsibility for the parts and labor I PAID into making my truck run again. I'm not placing blame on the shop for doing anything on purpose but I am very well convinced somebody did not do their job correctly. The shop either a) accidentally jacked something up or b) my truck was not properly diagnosed from the accident. Either way, this was the most stressful birthday weekend I ever had in my life. read more

My car was rear-ended and the insurance adjuster (GEICO) indicated that I needed to get my car repaired at this location. I generally like to use dealerships (even though they are more expensive) because I know they do a good job. But, given the potential for headaches, I decided to let AusTex do the work. They were extremely good. While the car didn't have extensive damage, there was frame damage that was not easily repaired. I think I interacted with the owner or manager. He didn't say much when I dropped off the car - letting the GEICO person do all the talking. When I went to pick up the car, he highlighted the work that he (and team) did. While again quiet, it was clear that he was proud of his work. I don't say much either so I just nodded in appreciation. It is nice to work with someone who is competent, proud of their work, and honest. I will go back for other minor body work the car needs as it ages. Thanks. read more

This place was awful. Micky, an employee was rude an unprofessional as they come. They had my car for 13 days, talked to me 4 times and still didn't fix important parts then claimed it wasn't part of the wreck. We'll no power steering is hard to drive with before a wreck wow...just wow... this is how innocent people get scammed everyday and we have to deal with it because we are poor. I brought my vehicle here last June for work. My vehicle was with them for almost two weeks. When I picked up my vehicle, it was missing cosmetic parts (mirror cover, one wheel cover) and somehow, they had managed to do something to the electrical system. Add to that, my mirror no longer worked and my automatic windows kept acting up. The pillars on the three doors they had worked on were completely scratched up. After returning twice, the mirror was finally fixed and the cosmetic parts returned and placed appropriately. Within 3 weeks, the paint on the car was chipping and peeling. I am never taking a vehicle there again. read more

After a collision, I went to AusTex on the recommendation of Geico, and the whole process could not have been easier. Initially, I wanted to take it to the dealer shop, but since AusTex is partnered up with both Geico and Enterprise, I decided to take advantage of the convenience. First, the lady at the front counter gave me a short form to fill out and answered all my not-so-bright questions about how the claim/repair thing would work -- I have to admit I knew nothing about the process. I waited all of five minutes (mostly because I was early, and they were finishing up with another customer) in the comfortable waiting room -- couches, Keurig, and flat screen TV. Then I was greeted by Chris (the Geico adjuster) and Blake (the AusTex rep). They asked me about the damage and took a look at my car with me. Blake went over absolutely everything, from the collision damage to impossibly small chips in the paint from gravel roads, and then he explained to me what they'd be checking and fixing. I was then introduced to Gerard (I just know I'm spelling that wrong...), the Enterprise rep who -- as promised -- had my rental car waiting. After a quick confirmation of info and a small hold on my debit card ($50, which is $200 less than if I'd rented a car without Geico's rental coverage), I was ready to drive off to work in a rental car that was much nicer than the car I'd dropped off. The whole thing took about 30 minutes, and they sent me an estimate that afternoon. A few days later later, my car was done. I was initially a little leery of working with a shop recommended by the insurance company. Would they cut corners, use cheap parts, or maybe insist some damage wasn't caused by the collision and therefore not covered -- all to save the insurance company some money? Turns out I had nothing to worry about. Not only did they do top quality work (and fast!), but their repairs are guaranteed. They matched the paint perfectly and even washed and vacuumed my car. I'll definitely be recommending AusTex to everyone I know. They're fast, friendly, and incredibly helpful, and they do great work. If you're a Geico customer, they make the claim & repair process ridiculously easy, and the in-house Enterprise office makes renting a car a breeze with rental coverage -- which is so crazy cheap that everyone should have it on their policy, btw. read more

I would give less than one star if possible. My 2005 Kia Sorrento was sent to AusTex by my insurance company for repairs following a collision. They took two weeks to repair the car and there have been a multiple problems since then. Radiator reservoir and assembly was replaced and is now pouring fluid only two months later. When mentioned to Tom, the manager, he says that he won't touch it unless it is accident related, even though AusTex supposedly has a lifetime guaranty on the parts and labor. There's no telling how much this is going to cost and the car is at this time not drivable, as it will not hold coolant. Brake disc was installed backward, causing faulty braking and severe brake damage. AusTex said it was an easy mistake to make and offered to re-grind the disc instead of replacing it, thus lowering the lifespan of the brakes on the car. They reluctantly replaced the disc, but not without argument. Sloppy workmanship was performed, with dirty rags stuffed into the engine and hub. Lug nuts were bolted down so tightly, they had to be broken off to change the tires. Things that worked before are now falling apart, oil drips, sensors ding, the air conditioner has died. It's a mess. I feel as though I'm at the mercy of a shop that has no interest in actually fixing my car, only making a buck. A company that boasts about being a local, family-owned organization should also be concerned with protecting their reputation in the community and providing exemplary service and workmanship. I was rear ended at a stop light last Thursday night. Filed the claim and took my car to AusTex the next day at 1:30 They are about 20 miles north of me, but they were the only place who could take my car before Monday. They looked at my car and said that they should have it done by the middle of the following week. I opted for text message updates. Well on Monday afternoon I received one saying that my car would be ready tomorrow (Tuesday) around 4:09 PM WOW! I ended up picking up my car around 4:30 and it was good to go. The whole process was so quick and painless and everyone that works there is so friendly. I would definitely recommend taking your car to AusTex. read more

Great shop. I worked with Rick. They took great care of my car which needed some body work. Rick called with updates about every other day. He gave a heads up at the start that more damage might be found once they got into it which would make the repairs take a little longer. They are a geico preferred shop which isn't a bad thing.
