Very good food, very nice people, consistent quality of food. They don't up-charge for brown rice and don't put goopy sauce on their vegetables. This place is a great lunch spot. Like other reviewers have said, this place serves the same type of food as FB. However, this place has other options like the pork. What makes it better than FB, is your able to mix and match proteins at no additional charge. I'm giving 5-stars in the Lunch realm because it is quick and delicious. In the barren wasteland that is Orange, lunchtime options are few and far between. Imagine my surprise when I found Genki Grill 2 minutes down the street from my office. I've never been a Flame Broiler fan but as a Korean BBQ addict I knew I had to check this place out. When I came in at 12:30 on a Friday, the joint was empty so I immediately placed my order at the counter. They have a large menu on the wall and the concept is simple: choose your size (regular or mini), base (white rice, brown rice or vegetables), and protein (chicken, spicy pork, beef, tofu). In case you were wondering, no you can't split your meats in a mini bowl. A nice lady took my order at the counter of a half chicken and half spicy pork bowl over brown rice and vegetables. A man in the open kitchen behind (her husband? I must know!) immediately started assembling my bowl and I was delighted to find they cooked the chicken fresh to order! They piled my bowl full of perfectly sticky brown rice, veggies (cabbage, carrots & broccoli) and that delicious, delicious meat. The spicy pork, though good, was far overshadowed by the incredibly juicy and flavorful chicken. It was cooked perfectly and I ended up eating way more than I needed to just because it was so addictive. Chicken is often viewed as an inferior meat but Genki reminds us that when prepared correctly, it's a star! The entire meal was 7 bucks and it was enough for lunch and dinner! When I first entered, it looked like the place was vacant because the staff were sitting down as if they were customers. Probably just finished their lunch rush and were finally sitting down to eat when I came in... Then somebody else.. Then more and more people, meanwhile their food is just sitting there getting cold. Must be really disappointing to them, yet they are still happy to serve. The only problem is this place has no obvious restroom. There might be some in the back, but there's no signage indicating there's restrooms in the back. Even if there is, there's no indication it's available to customers. read more

Finally had a chance to try this place out after driving by for a very long time. It's not easy to find parking for a rig. Anywho the place itself is pretty clean , kind of awkward setting though. I guess because the building wasn't meant for to be a restaurant . So I ordered the beef teriyaki bowl, the rice was pretty good and the meat was flavorful. But what I didn't like was that the meat was pretty tough and very fatty. It took about half hour for me to chew the meat. So for that reason I don't think I will be stoping here for lunch again. This is my new favorite lunch restaurant. The Spicy Pork is wonderfully tender and flavorful. I got the combo bowl with it and the Beef and it was absolutely wonderful. I didn't see at first that they also offer kimchi, and after paying with my card, asked if I can get an order of Kimchi, but didn't have any cash and the minimum card purchase is $5 (completely understandable with the high % charges for a credit card terminal), so I figured I will get it next time. However, when I got my order, there was Kimchi on the tray. This is what I call great customer service, and I will be back tomorrow for sure. Thank you to the wonderful people at Genki Grill in Orange. Update 10-14-16. The place has gone in the wrong direction lately. Old, Korean lady behind cash register seems to hate every minute there. Finally got a chance to visit the Orange Genki location and I must say, they do not disappoint! My lunch was SO DELICIOUS! I got the Genki Bowl with chicken and spicy pork. Oh my! The portions are so generous, it was more than enough to satisfy my pregnant belly! The food taste so fresh and clean too...no guilt here. My husband tried the pork and beef plate and he was extremely satisfied as well. The spicy pork is so flavorful you just don't want to stop eating it! This place blows flame broiler out of the water! She looks at me in the eyes and said yes. As soon as I got back to my office, I discovered it's only short ribs. Just terrible service. I'm pretty upset about this. If you can't do a short rib and beef plate, then why not tell me in the 1st place when taking my order, but instead..you lied to me when handing me my Togo order. Why punch in an order that I didn't want??? That's why you need to repeat all orders so they're correct. I don't understand how difficult it is for you to not do this. I've been wanting to try this place, but due to their limited hours, it's taken a while to get here. I had the Genki bowl with brown rice, chicken, spicy pork, and veggies. I went in about an hour before they close (which is 4:00) and was surprised to see quite a few people there during what's normally off-hours. The wait time was pretty short though and the food was good although the veggies were a bit crunchier than I like. Since it's tough for me to get there during their limited hours, I don't see myself going out of my way to go here again. This place is the best of both worlds. Amazing food and a very affordable price, they do not gouge you at all. I would recommend the spicy pork & chicken combination bowl.
