This is the restaurant that can actually please our tummy on the variety of food we get to eat. Service is always excellent. Ambiance can be very noisy at times. It is a great place to relax to have an after hour drink and watch some sports on TV. Now recently they added Vietnamese style food. 3 country in one. Thumbs up for us. If you're looking to get a bento box here definitely look elsewhere! I paid $26 for two Items: Tempura and Beef Teriyaki. I got two small pieces of lackluster shrimp tempura that resembles the frozen ones from Costco. The beef was of the lowest quality , it had sauce on it but I'm pretty it wasn't teriyaki. They also gave a really small amount of rice too. I am so disappointed at this restaurant. This place is a prime example of "even though the average ratings are lower, you should still eat there." I don't know why this place doesn't have more stars. The food and service were fantastic!! Our server was an absolute gem. She was so sweet, attentive, and always made sure we had everything we needed. The other employees were also very helpful and also checked on us, even though we weren't technically their table. It seemed like everyone cared about every customer. The food was delicious. We ordered the lion king, fried California, Philadelphia roll, and the spider roll. Each one was fresh and flavorful. They don't skimp on the portions either! The roll sizes were big and so filling. They are all also reasonably priced, especially for the size and quality. I've been to other places where the prices are 7-8 dollars more, but the rolls are have the size and not as tasty. Never again! We've eaten here before, but never have we been ignored. My family and I came in on Christmas Day right after they opened for dinner. There were other guests seated and eating dinner, so we weren't the first ones. The appetizers were delivered right away. Then we waited for our food as more customers came in. We waited and still more customers came in. We continued to wait and saw other customers were served their food, even those who arrived after us. It was 45 minutes until finally someone came and asked how we were doing. 45 minutes! She told us our food was coming but gave no time estimate. We got up and walked out. We live 5 mins away or even less from this place.. My husband got me wonton soup- IT WAS COLD.. and it has always been this way throughout the years of getting it. We got fried rice, garlic noodles, some chicken thai basil made of chicken breast (yuck), and garlic mushrooms that don't taste like mushrooms. Basically, everything is cold and nothing tasted good. the rice tasted really old. We were starving when we got it, when you're starving everything should taste good. I spat out the food that i put in my mouth. That wonton soup was cold as fuck. We get take out from a chinese resto in union city and when we get home it's still very hot.. and Genghix is less than a 5 min drive from our home. This is not real asian food. Whoever is cooking there do not understand anything about asian food. Waste of money! I wish I can return all the food. It's all going to trash. read more

Both tartares regular and ceviche poor. Weird flavor on the ceviche tuna no lime juice and regular tartare finely ground and too spicy. Honey walnut prawns excellent. Very hit n miss. This place was awesome for our party of 12 on a Saturday night. Very nice ambiance and the food was good as well. I had never been here and was impressed. The waitress was nice and friendly too! All in all, an excellent Chinese restaurant. Sorry, I should have taken pictures but was consumed by my family (uncle, 7 cousins, brother and spouses). What a surprise find in Castro Valley. I've been coming to this place all throughout my childhood & I will say their service is unmatched. On top of that, the food is consistently excellent--from Chinese food to Sushi & Thai! The options are limitless as there are vegetarian options (not sure about Vegan) but you can definitely ask the servers. The owner Chin is sweet & very family oriented. We had dinner yesterday at this restaurant (May 15, 2026) with some friends. The GOOD: The restaurant is nicely decorated and had great ambience. We were greeted and seated immediately. The drinks we ordered were ice cold served without delay. We ordered the Pokeman and crunchy chicken salad to begin with; these salads were delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the Super California and the Lion King rolls. These rolls were delicious. The BAD: The wives ordered a large beef pho and the guys ordered the Singapore Vermicelli. The dishes arrived hot. The soup base for the pho was way too SALTY! The vermicelli did not have much curry flavor and the typical "glass noodles" were substituted with thin egg noodles. The noodles had a gritty texture on the tongue suggesting the cook sprinkled curry spice on the noodles rather than dissolving the curry spice into an emulsion. The barbecue pork in the vermicelli was sliced too thick. The vermicelli dish was not too good. Finally the men's bathroom appeared to neat and clean. My recommendation is to stick with the sushi rolls at this restaurant because the other cuisines need some work from the kitchen staff!! read more

Just walking into the location you feel as if you're stepping into a unique and nice establishment. Look at the outside facade and inside decor! This was our Christmas get together, so in addition to eating, we caught up and opened presents. Service was perfect for our needs, as they left us alone enough to do our thing but took our order, refilled water, and cleared plates without us asking. The food came out really fast. I was impressed, as the bar and rest of the restaurant were pretty full. Our group ordered a wide variety of food including a tempura & teriyaki combo, side salads, garlic green beans, assorted rolls (Snow White, Dragon, Lion King, & Lion Queen) and salmon nigiri sushi. I can't believe I have not written a review for my favorite sushi place in the East Bay... The team there is always great and welcoming and can often help me decide on what I want, overall the tartare with hamachi is great and filling, the ama ebi is fresh and sweet and the quail egg adds a creamy and rich texture. They have great cooked items too, they have wings that I like to switch up on, I love the kewpie like mayo with like a hint of garlic and the lamb chops are great!
