Stunning decor. I attended an annual conference and choose this location to dine with a former colleague/friend who I only see once a year. The food and ambience exceeded expectations. We shared appetizers (tuna was delish) and both had fish that was exceptional. We ordered one dessert to share- the server brought a second one to make up for a slight service disruption (unecessary but appreciated). Not inexpensive but quality and taste was worth it. Weather was perfect for outdoor covered dining. Parking in the back. Just far enough away from the Music City Center that we avoided running into other attendees.

Geist is absolutely beautiful inside and the holiday décor put me right in the Christmas spirit. The space itself is stunning, but the experience didn't quite match the setting. It was very expensive, the room felt uncomfortably cold, and even though we made a reservation months in advance, we were seated in a less-than-ideal spot. And, I realize it's minor and insignificant, but the bathroom was cold, bad lighting, and felt like I was in an outhouse. Did not like that part of my visit--HA! I ordered pasta and was pretty underwhelmed, especially for the price. That said, I'd consider going back--but likely just to sit at the bar for a drink and an appetizer to enjoy the atmosphere without committing to a full meal.

The food is good, but the ambiance is even better. This is absolutely a Nashville holiday staple. The Pesto Risotto was delicious but not that memorable. But the House bread stole the show. To be entirely honest I would go back just for the bread.

Great holiday vibes all around. From the moment you walk up to this restaurant you are met with the merriest vibe ever. The service was good and the food was great; such a cutesy experience with the girls. We ordered a cinnamon roll for the table. Shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and a cheeseburger. The cinnamon was oozing with flavor and by far the best thing we ate.

I went to Geist during the holidays and I'll start by saying the place is absolutely beautiful. The decorations alone make you want to sit and take everything in. Lindsay, the manager, was genuinely helpful when my OpenTable reservation glitched. She fixed it without making it a big deal, which I appreciated. The hostesses were also really sweet and got us seated right away. The service at the table was fine, but our waiter didn't seem very warm. He wasn't rude, just not very friendly, which stood out in a place that looks this inviting. The food was the real letdown. The bread was great, honestly the best part of the meal. The pesto risotto was way too heavy and didn't taste balanced at all. The filet dish didn't feel like actual filet mignon. It was fatty and didn't have the quality you'd expect for the price. At the end of the day, you're paying for the vibe, not the food. The space is gorgeous, but for the cost, I could have gone to Mastro's or Fleming's and had a much better meal. I probably wouldn't go back for dinner, but the atmosphere was nice to experience once.

The decor at this spot was adorable and definitely ideal for some photos. We had a reservation and arrived about 20 minutes early. Unsure why we waited 45 minutes to be seated. I assume it was busy. Although our group of 4 were the only ones relegated to wait outside, when we watched smaller parties walk in. Coming out, after we ate, those waiting for a seat outside has grown. This was at around 10am. We were guided to a seat in the patio which had cute patio chairs, Christmas decorations, greenery, and each table had two blankets in case you got cold. Quite thoughtful. The cocktails were tempting, but I stuck with water. The food was delicious! I went with the smoked salmon benedict cause thats something I cant resist but I had a bite of the steak and eggs and cinnamon roll which were tasty in their own way. I appreciated how attentive our server was and ensuring we didnt want for anything. If im in Nashville again, this would be a spot I'd visit again. I do want to note that when I went into the restroom to wash my hands, it was nice to see that this restaurant had multiple areas; a bar, inside dining, and i think a basement. The women's restroom was crowded though. 5 women in line. I believe only 2 stalls. Just something to be aware of, that it does get crowded.

First time eating here, and we snagged a reservation the Friday before Thanksgiving week. We started at the bar and had a drink while we waited for our table to be ready. Had a great time talking to one of the bartenders who was from New Orleans (we lived in the same neighborhood!). She was a hoot. The place was decked out for the holidays. Even without that, it seems like a special atmosphere. Service was fine, food came out with good timing. Everything we had was tasty. It's a bit on the pricy side (my perspective) but the portions are quite large, so we shared everything that we ordered. We probably could have gotten by with one less dish. We had the fig salad, pesto risotto with salmon, white bolognese pasta and Brussel sprouts. In the current food scene that is Nashville, it's tough to be special, to rise above everything else. The food here was VERY GOOD, meaning that we ate every last bite. I just wouldn't say that it quite has the wow factor that some of the newer places have (The espresso martini was an example of this too. Good, not elevated) However we would definitely come back! Sitting at the bar for drinks and charcuterie might be our next visit! Get a resy if you can!

This place was amazing! Visiting from out of town and super happy we came here for our girls weekend brunch. Delicious food with very aesthetic decor. Loved everything about it here from the greenery and adorable hot air balloons to the southern hospitality (friendly service). This place has so much charm and I highly recommend it.

We were fortunate enough to be in Nashville for the first weekend of Geist being all decorated for Christmas. The decorations are fantastic and the various rooms are eye catching. Plenty of social media worthy photos to be had if that is your vibe. The food was outstanding! We were there for brunch and the group had fried chicken sandwich, avocado toast, biscuit and gravy with top with fried chicken. No one was disappointed. Our waiter was beyond friendly and was very attentive. Geist is a must see during the holiday season and you will certainly enjoy the food as well!!

This spot strikes the perfect balance between elegant and casual. I was here for dinner with colleagues, so I didn't snap photos of everything, but we started with a charcuterie board and bread. The bread was made with pineapple juice like an upgraded version of store bought Hawaiian rolls and it was absolutely fantastic. Pictured is the sea bass, which was light, fluffy, and juicy, served over a bed of vegetables. A great choice if you're a fish lover! My colleagues ordered the lamb chops and beef tenderloin, and both raved about how delicious they were. Our waiter was outstanding he was friendly, knowledgeable, and full of great recommendations. He even shared some history about the building's transformation, which made the experience even more special. Bonus points: I couldn't help but notice every table around us was enjoying their meals, and honestly, everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. If you're ever in Germantown, Nashville, this is a must try in my opinion.

Enjoyed a recent brunch here to enjoy the Christmas decorations. I would suggest asking to sit in the main areas to enjoy the decor. We sat on what seemed to be deck area and was ok with decor. But, after eating walked around and was able to soak in all the decor. They have some great photo opportunities as you walk out too. A+ for the decorations. The avocado toast was probably rated the best at the table with yougurt side rated best next. The club was very big, but just felt like a sandwich with no real flavor. The burgers were ok and fries were good. I believe fries are served with all sandwiches. The table next to us ordered pancake and that looked good. We didn't come necessarily for the food, but instead the experience.

We went to this restaurant right before Christmas. This place is beautifully decorated in every room with the most gorgeous lights, trees and or ornaments. Even the outside is decorated! The menu is not big, not a ton of drink options, but everything we ordered was amazing. We had the crispy pork belly appetizer which was amazing! The rigatoni was a duck confit and very tasty. My husband ordered the beef tenderloin and the filet was cooked to perfection. The fried brussel sprouts were nice and crunchy, very flavorful. Our waiter was helpful with making recommendations and even explained the history of the place to us too, it used to be a Blacksmith shop! I recommend coming here when it's decorated for Christmas just for the pictures, but go at anytime for the awesome food!

This was our first time to Geist. We really wanted to sit in the garden, but it was unfortunately unavailable since it is FCFS. However, the inside was still cute with the brick and the lighting. Our server was nice enough, but nothing amazing. He seemed a little annoyed we wanted a mocktail, but no biggie The smoked salmon benedict and the fried chicken sandwich was really good as well as the mocktail version of the Barracude even if 80% of the drink was ice lol. The steak and eggs was underwhelming due it to being underseasoned and the chimichurri sauce tasted a little too acidic.

It's a fairly big place with a bar, couches, fireplace with a HUGE beautiful fire, cocktail tables, and cozy booths. Dark, candlelight, this place has a vibe! 5 stars for atmosphere for sure! The service was not great, unfortunately. It was just so slow, every step took FOREVER. We would have gotten dessert but the waitress never came back. I finally stood up, put my jacket on, and stood next to our table, as a hint that we were ready for the check. 3/5 stars for service. Now the food. Do you see those fries?? They are some of the most unique fries I've ever had. Crispy AND chewy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Served with bernaise, these alone are worth coming back for! The burger fell flat IMO. My husband liked it better than I did, but it didn't have much flavor. Some might say it needed ketchup, but for me it was more than that. It was a case where it seemed to have all the right ingredients but didn't "pop". It comes out wrapped in paper which is a fun touch, but didn't seem that hot and also was a little soggy, which made me wonder how long it sat before they brought it. We wanted ketchup for the fries too, BTW, but the server never came back to check on us. My husband's NY sour was a little strange. We love different "takes" on classic cocktails, but this one just didn't work. The waitress seemed unsure as to whether they could make this drink, and maybe she was correct. 3.5 stars for cocktails/food. We will definitely come back. My hope is that the burger was just a one-time miss and that next time it will be perfect. We also want to try the smoked fish dip. Such a cool neighborhood spot!

When I walked in I, immediately, thought of Haven (RIP https://www.yelp.com/biz/haven-miami-beach-2). From the LED wall to the music to the drinks to the vibe... I didn't feel like I was in Nashville anymore. the back corner stands out and gives Middle Tennesseans something that's not readily available in this area. If you're in the mood for a little coastal cosmopolitanness (is that word? It's not a word), the back corner is about to be your new favorite place. The neighborhood gets things moving in the right direction. For as much as Germantown has (scenic streets, fancy high rises, coffee, good eats) it didn't have a nightlife destination. Putting one here makes a lot of sense. Building off the 5th & Taylor imprint, the back corner starts off fancy (but not pretentious) and builds to memorable. Upon entry, the first thing you notice is the LED wall and stage. With a changing display of electronic intoxication, you're drawn into a world far away from Lower Broad. If you can break your gaze away from the stage, you'll notice the upper and lower lounge seating. Intimate, cozy and a bit mysterious, the seating at the back corner lets you decide whether you want to be front & center or if you're rather sit back and take it all in. You can be as public or private as you'd like. If indoor seating isn't your thing, make your way outside to enjoy the fire pit and Germantown night sky. Just do us all a favor and refrain from smoking. Seeing cigarette butts along the patio or by (in??) the fire pit is not sexy and very off-brand. All the above said and noted, the back corner is not a huge space -- which is a plus and minus. It's a plus because it never becomes the cavernous mess of bass and desperation. The minus is crowds gonna crowd and with a lot of people, the space will be tight. I don't know how to fix that. I suppose a velvet rope and waitlist will keep crowds at bay but neither feels very Nashville. Hmm... Another minus (relating to the size) is that there's only one bar. One bar in a space this cool is a bit tight. I know the space behind the bar isn't huge but I would staff it with 3 bartenders at a time so as to keep up with the crowd. Because you're going to want to drink. A lot. The cocktail program at the back corner is a bit unusual for Nashville -- and very Miami. Expect rum, colors and a boozy punch. Actually, the menu could use a punch. Get on that, tbc. Re drink progression... start with the gimlet. It's pretty to look at and refreshing to drink. All the mixers, juices, etc. are made in house so you're getting quality fare. From there, hit the No. 4 and, then, the No. 2. If you're still upright, drink some water. Water? Who am I kidding? Cocktails! You're in Miami, [redacted]! Well, sorta. If you need some noshes, 5th & Taylor is serving up bites. Don't come here for dinner. Who eats food? Let the music and booze nourish your body. As perfect as the back corner is for DJ sets, live music (this *is* Nashville, after all) works as well. the back corner isn't the Downtown dance club people have wanted for a (looooong) while. But it is a welcome addition to the city's nightlife scene and, very possibly, you're new favorite place to go. Bienvenidos a Nashville.
