The birthday girl and our two boys.
Nathan F.

Holy! Moly! I can't say enough about this place. It has been on our radar for a while and my wife decided this was where she wanted to go for a celebratory birthday brunch. We arrived just before 11:00 AM and were seated immediately. Even without a reservation, but I would recommend making one just to be sure you can get a table. They were already quite busy. And after having eaten there for the first time, I know why. First of all, everyone we encountered was an absolute pleasure. So nice that even our eight-year-old son commented on how nice everyone was. Dee (sp?) at the hostess stand, Tyler our server, and Kahlia the manager. Just perfectly pleasant and accommodating people. Now for the food. Absolute magic. Everything, and I mean everything, was outrageously delicious. And the portions were substantial. Our sons are pretty finicky eaters. And they loved it all. Hands-down, the best soul food I've ever eaten in my life. Comforting, but not too heavy. Perfectly seasoned. Perfectly cooked. Full of heart. Menu items we ordered: Biscuits and gravy Candied bacon Stuffed salmon bowl Soul cakes (a veritable feast of pancakes, lamb chops, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens) Chicken and waffle (red velvet) We brought home a bunch of leftovers. But they we're gone before 7:30 PM the same day. Because there was enough to call it dinner.

Had a great experience at Noir. The food was delicious, and both the crab claws and the catfish with grits were so good. Everything was flavorful and well prepared, and the overall vibe made the experience even better. Definitely a spot worth checking out.

Noir is always going to deliver a delicious brunch and with the newly renovated interior design update, it's so cute too! The service was a little slow, but our food was fresh and yummy. We had a little bit of everything and I'd go back, but only with smaller groups.

Amazing drinks, food and atmosphere. Excellent service. Wow factor, a hot towel after my entree.

I'm giving three stars primarily for Courtney WITH THE FADE, who truly stood out during our visit. I brought my mom here to enjoy our happy hour ritual, but our experience was a bit of a rollercoaster. Courtney's Excellence Shines Through! We arrived and were seated 20 minutes after our reservation, which was a bit disappointing. Once seated, it took Courtney about 10 minutes to reach our table. However, she sincerely apologized for the delay and efficiently took our entire order. Despite being busy with two large parties, Courtney consistently checked in on us, which made a significant difference in our experience. The food was pleasant and enjoyable. The food runners who brought our meals were friendly and accommodating, adding a positive touch to the service. The Downside as we wrapped up our meal, Courtney brought us the check and to-go boxes. However, Jamyra approached our table, and what started as light chit-chat quickly turned passive-aggressive. Her demeanor shifted from friendly to rude, which was disheartening. Unfortunately, her behavior reflects the negative stereotypes often associated with black women in leadership positions, affecting how staff and customers perceive her. In summary, while Courtney's service was exceptional and made our visit worthwhile, Jamyra's attitude left a sour note. Here's hoping for better experiences in the future!

During recent visit to Nashville, I has the opportunity to dine here for my sisters birthday dinner. The restaurant is beautiful. I love the Black & Gold vibe they have going on. There is a nice size bar sitting slighty in the middle of the dining area, with nice size table+chairs for dining in. We had a semi private table setting which fit all 8 of us comfortably. Our waitress was a sweetheart, who gave recommendations, attentative, and also patient with our party size. Most of us had mocktails that the bartender freestyled. It was so good! For apps, I ordered the hot parm oysters. I never pass on ordering oysters whenever they are available because not many places back home offer cooked oysters. I liked the oysters but they were a little salty. For my main dish, I ordered the lamb chop dinner which comes with 2 sides. I had the yams and mac+cheese. The yams were good. Not too sweet. The lamb was great. Well seasoned and tender. The mac was good also but had a lot of what appeared to be either pepper or parsley inside. I was so full from the oysters and mocktail, I took most of my main course back to the hotel. The food tasted better a few hours later lol I also had a cornbread muffin that was tasty also. I would for sure revisit her when I return to Nashville.

Southern comfort food at its finest. This will for sure have you leaning and catching the itis. Went in the afternoon for late lunch early dinner and it wasn't too crowded when we first arrived, but it's not a huge space so I def can see how this place can get crowded. Chill ambiance overall and the staff for very helpful. Yams and collard greens ranked high for what we ordered followed by the cornbread. The lamb and the catfish are solid mains, but the sides are where it's att.

Can I just say this is the best restaurant I've had in a long time. Everything was so delicious. We went on a Saturday morning during brunch and they have buy one get one free lemon drops. I was feeling great off of the first few sips lol. And then when the food came out, I was impressed by everything on my plate. The macaroni and fried chicken were my favorite if I had to choose. The server was so nice. They began to get a little bit more crowded as we were eating and she continued to make sure she checked on us. The music was great and it wasn't too loud. I hate when I go places and I can't hear the person I'm dining with. Even the decor was nice, dark and moody, which I liked. They had a patio option as well, but we decided to dine in. Overall 10 out of 10 with highly recommend I can't wait until I go back to Nashville to eat here.

WINGS. BRUSEELS. FRIES.
Brennen E.

I was looking for a Black owned place to go when I came to Nashville and Noir did not disappoint. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Our server Erika was nice and attentive. The music was playing at the perfect level, loud enough to enjoy but not too loud to hold a conversation. We had the wings, brussels, lemon drops, fries and Southwest egg rolls. Everything came out quicker than expected. Inside of the restaurant was beautiful, with plenty of yellow tinged lighting that made you feel like you were glowing.

The photos are all you need to see. GO!! We loved Happy Hour! I've been here about 5 times now. Always go when I stop through Nashville. Been going since they had a smaller building. Food is always so good and fresh!! Service was really good. We were helped as soon as we sat.

2 pieces of catfish, collard greens, Mac n cheese, and cornbread.

Just went today for the first time. It was really good! I had catfish, Mac n cheese, collard greens with a cornbread muffin. I thought it would be salty as soul food places usually are for me, but it was not. It was flavorful and the service was just perfect. There is a 90 minute maximum time to eat. We were fine with that.

My friends & I stopped by Noir for a drink while hanging out on a Saturday. Its sultry decor leans toward a grown & sexy vibe. We didn't have reservations & found seats at the bar. It was lively, so if you plan to go on a Saturday evening, make reservations. It seemed to be a popular spot for celebrations & tourists. We only got an appetizer, but the food our neighbors ordered looked good. There's parking on the street & behind the building. Love: cocktail (sweet, well-made) Like: spinach dip (comes with pita chips); service (fine)

Oxtails w/grits instead

What a yummy brunch experience! My girlfriends and I visited Noir for brunch this past weekend. The atmosphere was really inviting with its African inspired decor and great music. The hostess was friendly and agreed to snap our picture in front of their signature wall. Our waitress Morgan was very professional and polite. The food selection was great. I was a little disappointed they didn't have snapper but I got my 2nd choice, catfish w/grits instead. I also ordered collard greens and they were delicious. My friend ordered oxtails with grits and she said it was a nice portion and very tasty. My other friend ordered a sampler with oxtails, shrimp, lamb chop, and catfish. She really enjoyed that. Oh and I had a sangria to die for! It was sooooo good. Overall we really enjoyed Noir and was happy we had an opportunity to support a Black owned business.

It comes with a lot of bread and is so good. Their smashburger is also really good, and the waffle fries are amazing. The drinks are a highlight too. I loved the skinny margaritas, and the frozen blackberry mule was so good. They have a really nice patio that's perfect for hanging out. The only downside is that I feel like they close the patio/space a little early around 10 PM, and after that the inside gets extremely packed and it's hard to move around. The mozzarella sticks were good, but a lot of them were missing cheese, which was disappointing. Overall, still a really fun spot with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Luckily it was walking distance from one of the trolley stops (Farmers Market). We came in on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy but we were able find a spot. We started with drinks. We then ordered a falafel sandwich with the waffle fries and a queso dip. The fries and the dip were delicious. The falafel sandwich was also good. The service was quick and we picked up a t-shirt on the way out. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

It's a fairly big place with a bar, couches, fireplace with a HUGE beautiful fire, cocktail tables, and cozy booths. Dark, candlelight, this place has a vibe! 5 stars for atmosphere for sure! The service was not great, unfortunately. It was just so slow, every step took FOREVER. We would have gotten dessert but the waitress never came back. I finally stood up, put my jacket on, and stood next to our table, as a hint that we were ready for the check. 3/5 stars for service. Now the food. Do you see those fries?? They are some of the most unique fries I've ever had. Crispy AND chewy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Served with bernaise, these alone are worth coming back for! The burger fell flat IMO. My husband liked it better than I did, but it didn't have much flavor. Some might say it needed ketchup, but for me it was more than that. It was a case where it seemed to have all the right ingredients but didn't "pop". It comes out wrapped in paper which is a fun touch, but didn't seem that hot and also was a little soggy, which made me wonder how long it sat before they brought it. We wanted ketchup for the fries too, BTW, but the server never came back to check on us. My husband's NY sour was a little strange. We love different "takes" on classic cocktails, but this one just didn't work. The waitress seemed unsure as to whether they could make this drink, and maybe she was correct. 3.5 stars for cocktails/food. We will definitely come back. My hope is that the burger was just a one-time miss and that next time it will be perfect. We also want to try the smoked fish dip. Such a cool neighborhood spot!

You can check out the calendar to see what they're playing for the night, the ambiance in there is great-definitely a mix of LA & New York. It's a mix crowd which I love. When I walked in I, immediately, thought of Haven (RIP https://www.yelp.com/biz/haven-miami-beach-2). From the LED wall to the music to the drinks to the vibe... I didn't feel like I was in Nashville anymore. the back corner stands out and gives Middle Tennesseans something that's not readily available in this area. If you're in the mood for a little coastal cosmopolitanness (is that word? It's not a word), the back corner is about to be your new favorite place. The neighborhood gets things moving in the right direction. For as much as Germantown has (scenic streets, fancy high rises, coffee, good eats) it didn't have a nightlife destination. Putting one here makes a lot of sense. Building off the 5th & Taylor imprint, the back corner starts off fancy (but not pretentious) and builds to memorable. Upon entry, the first thing you notice is the LED wall and stage. With a changing display of electronic intoxication, you're drawn into a world far away from Lower Broad. If you can break your gaze away from the stage, you'll notice the upper and lower lounge seating. Intimate, cozy and a bit mysterious, the seating at the back corner lets you decide whether you want to be front & center or if you're rather sit back and take it all in. You can be as public or private as you'd like. If indoor seating isn't your thing, make your way outside to enjoy the fire pit and Germantown night sky. Just do us all a favor and refrain from smoking. Seeing cigarette butts along the patio or by (in??) the fire pit is not sexy and very off-brand. All the above said and noted, the back corner is not a huge space -- which is a plus and minus. It's a plus because it never becomes the cavernous mess of bass and desperation. The minus is crowds gonna crowd and with a lot of people, the space will be tight. I don't know how to fix that. I suppose a velvet rope and waitlist will keep crowds at bay but neither feels very Nashville. Hmm... Another minus (relating to the size) is that there's only one bar. One bar in a space this cool is a bit tight. I know the space behind the bar isn't huge but I would staff it with 3 bartenders at a time so as to keep up with the crowd. Because you're going to want to drink. A lot. The cocktail program at the back corner is a bit unusual for Nashville -- and very Miami. Expect rum, colors and a boozy punch. Actually, the menu could use a punch. Get on that, tbc. Re drink progression... start with the gimlet. It's pretty to look at and refreshing to drink. All the mixers, juices, etc. are made in house so you're getting quality fare. From there, hit the No. 4 and, then, the No. 2. If you're still upright, drink some water. Water? Who am I kidding? Cocktails! You're in Miami, [redacted]! Well, sorta. If you need some noshes, 5th & Taylor is serving up bites. Don't come here for dinner. Who eats food? Let the music and booze nourish your body. As perfect as the back corner is for DJ sets, live music (this *is* Nashville, after all) works as well. the back corner isn't the Downtown dance club people have wanted for a (looooong) while. But it is a welcome addition to the city's nightlife scene and, very possibly, you're new favorite place to go. Bienvenidos a Nashville.

The drinks we ordered were good as well. Kudos to bartender. I'm going to dive right in: duck wings were realllyyyy good no complaints at all!! One of the favorites. Nice sweet sauce. Florida rock shrimp was my fav. Reminds you of a nice shrimp scampi minus the lemon, more garlicky. The bread was good with the sauce. My top fav. Short rib was very tender and good. The asparagus was cooked well too perfect crunch and grill taste. Not a fan of dates but it does add a sweetness if you like. Also came with family style mashed potatoes and they were very good as well. We also order the green beans , heavy lemon profile. zucchini fritters surprised me. Not in a bad way, I wasn't expecting a ball so the zucchini was like chopped up inside w/ another mixed. No much described on the menu. sausage cheddar biscuits were pretty over powering with the sausage , I enjoyed the sauce on the plate with it. High pork flavor, biscuits were soft & moist. chopped salad was very copped. It had peppers, radish, mushrooms , cucumbers & cheese and a lot of the chopped items are not listed on the menu, had to send back for a less chopped. I felt it was more chopped items than lettuce. The new salad was great & presentation is nice on how it comes out. Lettuce also wasn't the freshest but it was fine.

We arrived fairly close to closing time, so perhaps that played a role in our experience. We started with the $8 sourdough bread. The bread was clearly fresh, but it was served cold. It came with a seaweed butter, and neither of us felt the flavors worked well together. We asked for regular butter instead and were charged an additional $1. I don't mind paying for extras, but it added to the disappointment when the food itself wasn't enjoyable. My cocktail sounded and looked like a mezcal Old Fashioned, but it tasted more like cough syrup and had virtually no mezcal flavor. After one sip, I decided not to order another drink. I mentioned it to our server, but nothing really changed. The rigatoni had potential flavor-wise, but the pasta was very tough. I asked for it to be cooked longer, but it came back still undercooked. The $40 pork dish was even more disappointing. It was served with lamb's quarter, which I later learned is a wild spinach-like vegetable. The combination simply didn't work for me. The dish also included mushrooms and a blueberry sauce. Somehow the blueberries tasted sour, and the overall flavor profile was very strange. Our server had recommended the dish, saying it was very good, so I went with it. Unfortunately, it was one of the least enjoyable restaurant dishes I've had in quite some time. To her credit, the server offered to bring me something else, but I was ultimately charged for the replacement item as well. By that point it was already 9:30 PM, we'd just come from an event, and we were starving. My partner is generally good about simply deciding not to return to a restaurant and moving on, so we ate what we could and called it a night. What bothers me most isn't the bill--it's feeling like we wasted both our evening and our money. We had been having a wonderful night until dinner. Bad food genuinely makes me sad, especially when I was so excited to try a place with such a strong reputation. Rating: * Atmosphere: 4/5 * Food: 2/5 * Overall: Disappointing experience in an otherwise beautiful space.
