One of my favorite clubs in Nashville. The only place that doesn't play country music which I love. I love when they play hip hop & top 40's. You can check out the calendar to see what they're playing for the night, the ambiance in there is great-definitely a mix of LA & New York. It's a mix crowd which I love. Nashville's lounge revolution continues. We've gotten Nashville's take on Brooklyn, LA and Vegas. the back corner is very Miami Beach. When I walked in I, immediately, thought of Haven (RIP https://www.yelp.com/biz/haven-miami-beach-2). From the LED wall to the music to the drinks to the vibe... I didn't feel like I was in Nashville anymore. the back corner stands out and gives Middle Tennesseans something that's not readily available in this area. If you're in the mood for a little coastal cosmopolitanness (is that word? It's not a word), the back corner is about to be your new favorite place. The neighborhood gets things moving in the right direction. For as much as Germantown has (scenic streets, fancy high rises, coffee, good eats) it didn't have a nightlife destination. Putting one here makes a lot of sense. Building off the 5th & Taylor imprint, the back corner starts off fancy (but not pretentious) and builds to memorable. Upon entry, the first thing you notice is the LED wall and stage. With a changing display of electronic intoxication, you're drawn into a world far away from Lower Broad. If you can break your gaze away from the stage, you'll notice the upper and lower lounge seating. Intimate, cozy and a bit mysterious, the seating at the back corner lets you decide whether you want to be front & center or if you're rather sit back and take it all in. You can be as public or private as you'd like. If indoor seating isn't your thing, make your way outside to enjoy the fire pit and Germantown night sky. Just do us all a favor and refrain from smoking. Seeing cigarette butts along the patio or by (in??) the fire pit is not sexy and very off-brand. All the above said and noted, the back corner is not a huge space -- which is a plus and minus. It's a plus because it never becomes the cavernous mess of bass and desperation. The minus is crowds gonna crowd and with a lot of people, the space will be tight. I don't know how to fix that. I suppose a velvet rope and waitlist will keep crowds at bay but neither feels very Nashville. Hmm... Another minus (relating to the size) is that there's only one bar. One bar in a space this cool is a bit tight. I know the space behind the bar isn't huge but I would staff it with 3 bartenders at a time so as to keep up with the crowd. Because you're going to want to drink. A lot. The cocktail program at the back corner is a bit unusual for Nashville -- and very Miami. Expect rum, colors and a boozy punch. Actually, the menu could use a punch. Get on that, tbc. Re drink progression... start with the gimlet. It's pretty to look at and refreshing to drink. All the mixers, juices, etc. are made in house so you're getting quality fare. From there, hit the No. 4 and, then, the No. 2. If you're still upright, drink some water. Water? Who am I kidding? Cocktails! You're in Miami, [redacted]! Well, sorta. If you need some noshes, 5th & Taylor is serving up bites. Don't come here for dinner. Who eats food? Let the music and booze nourish your body. As perfect as the back corner is for DJ sets, live music (this *is* Nashville, after all) works as well. the back corner isn't the Downtown dance club people have wanted for a (looooong) while. My review is based on visiting on a few Friday nights and as you can see, I give it all the stars! Nashville the Beautiful hosts To the Maxx with DJ Chill on Friday nights and the music is so on point. I love that there is a place to dance where you're not touching cheek to cheek unless you want to. When you first walk up, the doors provide you a last minute mirror check before you open the door to an evening of possibilities! You'll walk straight into the bar that is often packed and you can either wiggle to the left or right and head to the dance area or head upstairs and check out the scene down below. I love that you have options here. You can bring a group and have drinks and keep to yourselves or you can head to the dance floor and be greeted with smiles from other dance lovers. They also have some food options but I haven't been able to try those because I was too busy dancing. They have a full menu so whether you're a tequila sunrise drinker to a wine-o, they have something for you. I live in the flats across the street. Nothing that TBC has done is wrong. The catwalks and open floor bar are pretty cool. But after stopping by for 6-7 times in the past 6 months, I can honestly say the people who choose to come here don't know how to be chill and meet new people. This realization came to a head tonight when I finished up at a work party (researchers, medical people, etc.) Uber nerds who don't know how to talk to people..... yet they were way more relaxed and chill than the people at TBC every time I've been there. It's a clique posse circle while people watching place with zero interactions outside the people you bring with you. If you have a small group and want to dance to club music and look at people while ignoring them, this is totally your bar. read more

The Back Corner is exactly what Nashville needed! It's the perfect place for the locals to go to for a night out. It's literal the back corner of 5th and Taylor. Not a small place, but it's just the perfect size. It's smoke free, but there's a good size patio with a fire pit! There's no cover at door and no line! Score! We had table service right next to the dance floor and it was completely worth it with a minimum of only $350 and bottles starting at $150. But it choose not to bottle service, it's not hard getting a drink at the bar either. The DJ last night was pretty good, played lots of different genres! Great atmosphere and the crowd was a good mix! Will definitely be back for another event! read more

Well, being from the D.C. area, I am used to the over priced drinks and attempt at an exclusive atmosphere. It's when you have a 7'x7' bar area attempting to serve a supposed 2,300 square foot space of guests with 2 bartenders on duty where I think you may be you are setting yourself up for failure. I appreciate the attempt, and I see the potential. Lower the drink prices (you're in Germantown, not Manhattan), and add a couple of more square footage to the bar. read more

TBC is a great addition to Nashville's nightlife! A mix of dance club and lounge bar, it seems to have everything you might want for a good night out, including an outdoor patio with fire pit. There's no cover, which is a huge plus, and the staff/bouncers have always been polite. I've never been here for an actual show, although I've seen the DJ play some tunes and play videos on the large screen. There's also random couches on stage and apparently it's perfectly fine to sit on them while everyone is staring from on the floor. Music can be a hit or miss at times, but when it's good, you know everyone will be dancing! read more

This....this is what I've been waiting for in Nashville! I'm not a honky tonk kind of girl and I don't enjoy overcrowded bars with bad live music so this felt like a breath of fresh air! For one, having a DJ that is spinning house music is almost unheard of around town so definitely keep that up...please! The other really redeeming point to this lounge is that the drinks are good and they are inexpensive. I'm so used to going to new bars and paying $15 for a bad drink making it very difficult to order more than 1 without taking out a second mortgage. The Back Corner actually has drinks under $10 and they are delicious! The vibe in there is relaxing and cool. It's easy to go in there, make yourself comfortable, drink a couple cocktails and just chill for hours. Next time I'm going hungry because the snacks looked pretty great! read more

Being Germantown residents, my husband and I were excited to see the new bar/club at The Back Corner at 5th and Taylor. The second I walked in, I knew I had to book it for our 15th wedding anniversary/vow renewal! So thankful we did. Belle and Michelle were great to work with. Belle went above and beyond to make sure all details were tended to. The venue was perfect - so vibey and ideally decorated. The sound system was great. The staff was a delight to work with! The food was delicious and the drinks were wonderful! All of our friends and family continue to talk about the evening and experience. I'd never heard of The Back Corner so any preconceived notions flew out the door upon entering. One word- Gorgeous. The space is long and narrow, rustic with exposed brick and iron rafters. Lots of wood trim give a feeling of warmth. The focal point is a gorgeous sculpture hanging from the ceiling, a reclining bass (the instrument, not the fish) with a headless figure on top....just go see for yourself since it's artistry is indescribable. The bar is a diamond shape right upon entering. Great pours at an affordable price. There's a dance floor beyond the bar and the stage is at the back of the room. There are two lofts on either side running the full length of the room with staircases right past the entry; I suggest heading up to the comfy sofas and watching a show away from the teeming masses. The lighting is soft and the sound system rocked. We didn't try any food so I can't comment on the menu. I didn't notice any cocktail servers which would help, the bar is busy since everyone crowds around it upon entering to get a drink before finding their spot. All around a great addition to the neighborhood and a classy intimate place to watch a live performance. read more

This place is okay- a 3.5. We were there for 2.5hr, though, and felt like we were listening to the same song the entire time, despite pleas to the DJ to mix it up a little bit. I certainly wouldn't go there if you're looking to dance; to sit around and chat it might work. (You might as well just go to 5th & Taylor next door and grab a drink at their bar and enjoy it there or in their beautiful outdoor space if you are just looking to chat.) Good crowd though- everyone seemed friendly, a nice mix of different types of people, etc. I appreciated that. Also, there had been a vase of flowers at the front door which I guess we're knocked over- no one working there bothered to clean it up so entry/exit were very slippery on the wet tiles. The drinks seemed fine, the service "ok", and the ambience pretty good. I say ok for the service because they showed up quickly upon arrival and stopped by regularly, but someone in my group asked them to talk to a manager and their response was "I don't have time for that." read more

This place is unique to the area, and an establishment for future lounge/clubs in the city that is Nashville. How convenient to have a place right across the street from where you live, can grab a drink when you get off from work, before the stressed come out to get loose. I was on soon enough to read the review of the patron who complained of the manager. I was in the vicinity of the encounter. With the place being as crowded and busy as it was, the manager could not have handled the situation anymore professionally than she had, given the circumstances. To add, the place was congested with people, and the fire alarm was going off. Given those circumstances, you can imagine the hand dealt. As is with a patient, they sometimes think they are the only one the doctor has to tend to. That was the case with these patrons who were being irrational, and also drunk. I was there, near the entire incident, and the manager did not just instantly call them a bitch. In fact, she asked a question, after accidentally bumping into them. The women said, "did you just push me,bitch?" And the manager replied, "Did you just call me a bitch?" Any reasonable person can see how that can get misconstrued. With the place as busy as it had been, and that particular group as incorrigible as they were, the manager could not have handled the situation any better. They were a small part of a large whole-which was the entire place packed with people. She excused herself from bumping into them, as it was crowded. They chose to escalate the situation when she tried to resolve it. Given the circumstances, which was the place being packed, she had no choice but to have them removed. They were not within reason. read more

Pretty terrible experience here. We waited 15-20 mins at the bar to get a drink, which I understand because they have 1 bar with 2 bartenders to serve the whole place. However, when the bartender finally got to us we ordered, he said we don't have that and just walked away and started serving someone else. Even tried to order another drink, which was on the menu, and the guy just ignored us. Prices are pretty expensive too. read more

I went to this venue twice for Nashville the Beautiful events. I love any events that NTB throws. However, this venue was not great. First the bar was poorly managed. Not only were there only two bartenders to accommodate the crowd, which cause long bar lines, the drinks were very subpar and expensive. The drinks they make would not be acceptable in 5th & Taylor, not sure why they dropped the quality at their event space. Also, the bathrooms are poorly managed. Toilet paper and soap run out immediately, which makes you question the staff's sanitation, since you can order food at the venue. Now that Nashville the Beautiful is no longer using this space, I doubt I'll go back. I would recommend that people look elsewhere for their events. read more

I visited Back Corner on July 14, 2017 twice. The first time I was with a group of friends grabbing drinks while we waited for our dinner table to be ready at 5th&Taylor. I had a great time. The bartenders were amazing and very friendly. It was our first time there so they were really helpful with suggesting and creating drinks for us. My frienda and I drank, had a good time by the bar and on the dance floor until our dinner table was ready. After dinner we had such a good time we decided to go back. This experience was the complete opposite of what we had a few hours prior. We walked in the door very excited to be there. Ready to continue our good night. This time there were a lot more people there, which made it even better. One of my girlfriends had to use the restroom by the front entrance so we waited for her. As we were waiting a woman comes storming and and pushes one of my friends very hard while walking past. My other friend says OMG did she just push you like that. The woman turns around and says "What did you say Bitch" and proceeds to keep talking and gets in my friends face. I then get inbetween them and start going back and forth with the lady. I actually had to move her hand out of my face. Once that happened she states "Im the general manager and I'm kicking you all out" We couldn't believe that a GM was acting this way. She went and got security then they escorted me and my friends out. What started off as a pleasant night at Back Corner has just turned into a nightmare. The GM kept taunting as we were being escorted out. Our friend was still in the restroom so we stood outside waiting for her. One of my friends asked for the manager and he was not there. He calmly talked to the security gaurd and told them what happened. The security gaurd was also shocked that this happened. We were still waiting for our friend who was in the restroom when the GM came back outside and said "What are they still doing here" I told her we were still waiting for someone and we werent causing any trouble. We weren't even in the establishment. She literally gave me the look of death. My friend started talking to her and the security together. He also stated it was very unprofessional for her to call our friend a Bitch. The GM said "you all are the least of my problems" and walked away. By this time out other friend had come outside and witnessed that part of the conversation and was confused. I filled her in on what had happened. I cant believe me and my friends were treated so poorly at an establishment we had had such a great time in a few hours prior. I do not know the name of the GM but she needs to be fired. I will never step foot back in there until she is. read more
