What better way to end a lovely evening with a lovely lady, but with a lovely view and some fantastic drinks? Holland, like the country, greeted us and set us up for the evening. Holland brought great energy, and was super welcoming. They even offered us drinks on the house for the engagement. Totally unexpected, and that just meant we had to have more than one round to make sure that we could appropriately tip and show our appreciation for the amazing hospitality! The drinks were great. I tend to gravitate towards the less sweet. The Japanese Anchorage scratched that elitch very well being boozy forward, with hints of flavors. She had the Late Summer Margarita, refreshing and sweeter. We shared the Thai Tea Banana Colada. Definitely the sweeter side, but couldn't pass up the opportunity. Very good, a little sweeter and a little heavier than I'd normally prefer. It met both of our preferences right in the middle. Compromise, right? We had a great time walking around, checking everything out, and enjoying the atmosphere with our group. I also thought it was pretty cool seeing all of the Jelly Roll touches throughout the place. You can tell they wanted the bar to have its own personality instead of just feeling like another generic spot on Broadway. There was plenty to look at and the whole place had a fun vibe. We were in Nashville for a football game, but getting out with friends and checking out places like Goodnight Nashville ended up being a big part of what made the weekend so much fun. Meanwhile, the other members of my group, all around the same age and carrying valid IDs, were able to order drinks without issue. As an Asian customer, I left this establishment believing I was racially profiled. I was singled out, denied service despite presenting valid identification, and never given a legitimate explanation for why my ID was supposedly unacceptable. Since the incident, I have found multiple reviews from other customers of color describing experiences that raised similar concerns about profiling and disparate treatment. The entire experience was humiliating, unprofessional, and unacceptable. There are plenty of businesses in Nashville that can verify IDs without treating customers this way.

We started with the Warm Parker House Rolls, which were soft, buttery and such a comforting way to begin the meal. The fresh tuna, crispy rice and touch of heat worked really well together, and the contrast in textures made it one of my favorite dishes of the night.
