Get there early or it's hard to get in. We arrived around lunchtime on a Friday and was able to get seats at the bar. The band was terrific and the people we sat near were friendly and we shared stories. I had heard so much about this place and it lived up to the hype. I ordered a Busch light beer and a grilled cheese sandwich with chips. It's part of the recession special. I was lucky to sit near the grill and watch the grill master make fried bologna and grilled cheese sandwiches by the dozens. Such a fun place. Don't forget to buy a shirt. A classic and affordable dive bar in Broadway. Food and ambience is classic honky tonk dive bar. The music here is the best on Broadway in my opinion. Robert's Western World is the real deal for traditional country music. The 4 of us hung out here for a couple hours one morning to hear Joshua Hedley and the Hedliners, twang their way into old time honky-tonk souls. There's a row of boots on the wall, which I think is for display only and a call out to the time when they actually sold boots here. This historic building itself feels like a shotgun (long and narrow) and apparently once served as a Civil War warehouse and later the Sho-Bud Steel Guitar Company. To prolong our stay, we ordered cheeseburgers and beer (fries and onion rings were extra) for brunch. I tried to interest folks in their $6 "Recession Special" - A grilled or fried bologna sandwich piled high, with a bag of potato chips, a Moon Pie, and a cold Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) beer, but got no takers. We sat up on the balcony, which we had all to ourselves and with a nice view to the main floor below. Our waitresses were down home friendly, hard working, and good at what they were doing. We felt right at home and this was perhaps the most classic and authentic Nashville experience we had here. The band even wished my Happy Birthday. :) read more

This was probably my favorite honky tonk of all the bars I visited along Broadway (and no, I didn't go into all of them). It's small and doesn't have a DJ or 73,000 people crammed onto the rooftop bar. In fact, it doesn't even have a rooftop bar, or even an accessible rooftop. It does have a smallish second floor. The live band was great during our visit. There were no seats available downstairs so we planted ourselves upstairs and enjoyed the music, the drinks, and the food. Of course, we had to get the "Recession Special" (fried bologna sandwich, chips, moon pie, and a PBR, all for $6). Honestly, I could have easily devoured two complete specials but I am currently watching my girlish figure. The sandwich was good and much better than you might think. The drinks are strong here and the prices are reasonable. It's small, intimate, has great live music, strong drinks, and good bologna. I know it's not the hippest of joints but if you want an enjoyable place to enjoy very good live country music, make sure you come here. read more

Loved this spot! We had a late lunch at a dive bar and asked the server where he thought we should go next. He said Robert's Western World, so off we went! We were so impressed with the live bands here and the lively atmosphere (with good drinks, to boot!) Warning this place is packed and you will feel like a sardine, but the people we encountered were friendly and the vibe was good. What?? No bologna! This was our favorite spot on the Broadway! The galley style was cool and and we hiked up to the 2nd floor and found a nice table overlooking the band and the bar! We were referred here by the receptionist at the country museum in Bristol! I'm so glad we followed her advice. The music was authentic country with upright bass and fiddles. We stayed here at this honky tonk the longest of all the places on the strip! We loved the cowboy boot wall and the effervescent atmosphere! The best past? Wow! Just Wow! We saw a fantastic 3 piece here! A guy with a base, a drum set and a Stratocaster and they tore the roof off the place! Not difficult to get a drink here, which was surprising given the massive crowd. It's a narrow, cool spot with a tiny stage and it all just works! What a fantastic time we had here! I really enjoyed the spot. Definitely has a more old time feel compared to other bars in the area. I felt like I was somewhere that has existed for a long time out in downtown. We got there kind of near the ending, but we were able to hear some live music and enjoy a local beer. It was pretty cool to be there during daylight savings.
