Whiskey River Saloon is a high-energy honky-tonk on Broadway, with two floors and plenty going on. It's a really spacious spot with a big stage for live music and has a whiskey bar with an impressive selection of rare and premium whiskeys and bourbons. Whiskey River Saloon came up when we Googled places with mechanical bulls--which is honestly just as fun to watch as it is to ride. Drinks-wise, they have cocktails, beer, and seltzers. Prices felt about average for Broadway. I tried the "Cowboy Juice," which is a mix of Captain Morgan, melon liqueur, Malibu, pineapple juice, and sour mix--sweet and dangerously easy to drink. I can't speak to the food or drinks, but I can speak to the service. The food is located on the fourth floor, and an elevator is available to get you there. It was our first time visiting, and we weren't sure where to go. The security guard at the main door was very helpful and pointed us in the right direction. However, when we got upstairs, it was a different story. There was no one there to give us any direction, and we didn't see a sign stating whether we could seat ourselves. The place was a bit busy, but there was a section with about six empty tables. We chose to sit there so we could be near the fan since it was very humid yesterday. No one acknowledged that we had been seated, so when a waiter walked by to clear a table, I asked if it was okay for us to seat ourselves. He said yes, handed us menus, and walked away. No problem--I could tell it was busy and that he was running around, so I took no offense to him walking off. We waited about 10-15 minutes. No one offered us water or came over to greet us. The same waiter I had spoken to returned to our table carrying an empty pitcher, and I greeted him. In response, I got, "You know what you want?" I repeated my greeting, and he repeated his question. Mind you, he never introduced himself, so I have no clue what his name is. The only conversation we had before that was when he confirmed that we could seat ourselves. While I understand being overwhelmed or tired, I can't understand being met with such a rude disposition when I had done nothing to warrant that response. Needless to say, I didn't want someone who found greeting me to be an impossible task handling my food, so we left. He couldn't have cared less that we were leaving. He grabbed his pitcher and walked away before we did. They could have really good food and drinks, but I'll never know. My hope is that this was a one-off situation, but something tells me it's not. There's a bar on the first and fourth floors. The first floor is pretty open with minimal seating, so I'm assuming it's meant for dancing. They also have a live band set up on that floor. Lastly, thank you to the security guard. He was a tall guy with braids, and despite our brief interaction, he was the only person who made us feel welcome. Fun restaurant. Went for lunch (4th floor) sat inside but near the stage. It was so hot there, not sure where the hot blasts were coming from, but you have been warned! Moved towards the inside, Much better. It was hopping, we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Our party ordered the wings (small size-perfect amount), the Philly sandwich and the widow maker burger. Wings and Philly sandwich were delicious. Burger overcooked. The server was handling most of the tables in that upstairs area. He didn't come back to check on us. Took a while to flag him down for our final check. Lovely spot. The views were awesome the food tasty and the server fun. We went before a concert and got drinks and a bite. You can look at the river and broadway to see all the people. There are 3 floors. There is a bull on the first floor for the adventurous people. Drinks were like $15-$20 so about normal for Broadway. Super nice place, it's very big, they have like 3-4 bar areas, lots of big table and apace for large parties, a bunch of security, nice and huge restrooms, the place looks always very nice and clean, also they have a huge selection of drinks, probably the only thing that I didn't like is that is very pricey in my opinion. read more

We stopped here to eat later in the evening because it seemed less busy than other spots on broadway. We had a group of 6 and were able to walk in and get seated immediately. The food was just ok. I ordered a burger with mushrooms and peppers on it. The taste was good but it was extremely wet.., so much so that the bottom bun was extremely wet and sticky with whatever sauce was on it. Unfortunately, this restaurant does not serve food downstairs. So, upstairs we went. I normally do not call out servers with a bad attitude and/or who do not do their job well. She had a bad attitude to start. We ordered 12 chicken wings and fries. A guy brings out the wings. Fries never come. So, we told him. MacKenzie comes by and says we never said we wanted fries. We did. She was going back and forth with us. Just bring us fries. She believe she was right... Finally, the fries arrive. She sort of throwthrows them down on the table. They have llittle flavor. So, we ordered Mac and Cheese. This was better but not great. The wings were excellent. Highly recommend those. This was actually the first restaurant we ate at in Nashville. The first Honky Tonk I visited. Great experience. Vibes here were very fun. No food in the bottom area but they do have a rooftop were you can get food. Great music. this saloon in the heart of Nashville on the main strip had really great snacks. I treated everyone to a couple different appetizers and we annihilated the plates. There wasn't much left after we had a couple drinks needed to munch on something we got the pretzels, which were extremely soft and absolutely huge. It came with some special garlic cheese dip that I've never had in my life before, and it was addicting. The chips were fantastic. I like the way they cut it up and mix everything up. It has some kind of spicy cake that was definitely at the table. Lastly, I got the chicken tenders, which was mixed with fries and it was the perfect comfort food that we needed to weigh down the drinks and keep us going for the rest of the night. Party of three, we got seats pretty quick on the top floor. The staff saw us seated and attended to us quickly. We didn't wait long for food and we were all happy with how our food turned out. Each of us got a cocktail and it wasn't crowded here. Thunderstorm rolled through but there was plenty of seating inside to shelter while it passed. On the first floor in the back you can find their mechanical bull and bathrooms. They also had live music right near the entrance. We spent an afternoon walking down Broadway and a local guy recommended this spot as a rooftop bar that had good food. When you come in there is a dark-ish bar with a band playing. Head to the elevator to get to the rooftop, it's in the back right corner. The rooftop is huge and does have an indoor section as well. Our server was excellent and she put up the umbrella and angled it for us so I could stay on the patio (I have really fair skin and was getting cooked in the afternoon sun). We had a great view of the whole street and the river. But most importantly, our food was great. I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the coleslaw was excellent. This was a Saturday night, out on the town. The eatery was dead, but was early in the evening (7:30 pm). I opted for the Cheese burger with onion rings, and it was piping hot. The we fe had the Nashville Whiskey burger and it was also tasty. The waitress was very friendly and kept a watchful eye on us, checking for our needs. Whiskey River Saloon is, in my opinion, the perfect Nashville bar. If you are looking for a spot to grab a drink and listen to live music then this is it. Not only do they have several bars and several levels, they have different types of music as well (which is nice to get a break from country 24/7). We were there for about an hour and started with a country band (downstairs), they switched to an 80's hair band, and then we went to the rooftop to listen to rap. All were great! The bartenders were nice and attentive and they have a good selection of drinks. Additionally, they have a dedicated "whiskey & bourbon" bar where you can find a really wide selection of both (however, the prices are HIGH!). I had the peach tea with moonshine - nothing special. We didn't come in to eat, but there's chicken and fries galore if you're hungry for bar food. Definitely come for the live music and dancing! First time here- won't be the last. Sat upstairs so we could have access to the full menu. Service was very nice. There is inside and outside seating upstairs. We were slightly overheated so stayed inside. Still was an excellent view. Food was very good. The Mrs had ordered the Nachos as an appetizer but she ate so much of it that it became the meal. Our company on the broadway walk of shame had the Nashville chicken- high marked, and the burger which I am told was rather tasty. I had the grilled cheese with a side of the Nashville Mac N'Cheese.
