They lost our reservation for a special event, and it took them about 45min to figure out the seating. One waitress was fantastic! Upbeat, helpful, and attentive. But we also had a male server helping out, and he acted annoyed. When asking for sweetener for coffee, he brought back a mini pour with maple syrup!!! I reserved here again because I felt their menu covered all my picky eaters, while expecting the service and ambiance to provide an elevated dining experience. We waited just a few minutes to be seated while our table was prepared. Our server Rachel was super-sweet and attentive. We started with the Patisserie Board. The scone and banana muffin were very good, but the tart in the middle was somewhat tasteless. For our entrées, each family member ordered something different, but the highlights were the Shrimp & Grits, Steak Frites and Sourdough Pancakes. We found everything nicely seasoned, at the perfect temperature and delicious. The portions were just right. I noticed the manager checking in with customers throughout our time there, but he kept skipping our table. I found this odd since the restaurant was less than 50% occupied and we were the largest party. He was standing by the hotel entrance as we left, I made a point to thank him as I walked by, which he then reciprocated. The valet guys continue to be very friendly. Evelyn's is a super vibey spot with cool seating and lots of space--it feels stylish without being cramped. The menu is great and has some really interesting options. I ordered the Mafaldine with braised rabbit and while it was tasty, I eventually couldn't get past the fact that I was eating rabbit (personal thing, not a knock on the dish itself). They validate parking for two hours, which is a nice perk. It wasn't busy at all on a Thursday night, and our server was very nice and attentive. TLDR: Great Brunch spot. Loved the service, atmosphere, food and drinks. Found this restaurant since my husband wanted to dress up and go out on a Saturday morning brunch. They have complimentary valet parking and it's inside a hotel. The bathrooms are across the lobby and nicely stocked. They offer a mimosa kit bottle service (a must- have for the perfect brunch) and I also got a Bloody Mary. The sparkling wine they used for the Mimosa was delicious and tasted high quality. The juices tasted fresh squeezed. The Bloody Mary was good tasting but I was disappointed in the garnish because I've come to love a plentiful Bloody Mary. In fact, that's mostly how I judge a good Bloody Mary now- if they practically give you an appetizer in your drink! Alas, the beverage itself aside from garnish was great. For food, we ordered the Brisket Benedict for the Savory and the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes for the Sweet. We loved the Benedict, and were slightly disappointed in the pancakes. The presentation was ridiculous with blueberry compote just slabbed over the pancakes. I ended up scraping off a lot of the blueberry compote so I could actually have pancakes without a mouth full of sugary sauce. I had to ask for butter and syrup, because the pancakes themselves were not very flavorful. I would have preferred less compote on top, and a side offering of compote with whipped butter and maple syrup. We took home leftovers and they tasted better reheated. Overall, this restaurant is one we plan to return to and recommend to others! read more

We had a great dinner experience at Evelyn's tonight. My husband is gluten-free, and our waiter had helpful suggestions about which menu items would be safe for him. I ordered the dirty martini, which had delicious blue cheese stuffed olives. I ordered the pappardelle, which was tender but fork-able. (Is that a word? If not, it is now). Came back here because I had such great experience the first time around, but was a bit disappointed this time. Came on a Saturday night and it wasn't super busy so I was seated relatively quickly. I went with the agnolotti pasta. This dish was just okay. The filling of charred sweet potato with ricotta was good super flavorful, but the sauce it came with tasted super watered down and bland. It was so strange because at first I would taste the sauce which basically tasted like nothing and then it was followed up by an explosion of flavor once I bit into the pasta. I was able to have my first experience at Evelyn's recently and it was decadent and delicious. I stopped by here and got drinks and appetizers with a friend. They had just rolled out their new fall menu for cocktails and they were really good! I am blanking on the name but my drink had tequila and citrus/orange flavors. It was refreshing and so good. Their homemade bread/biscuits and butter were utter perfection and the duck croquettes were out of this world. Was staying at the Hutton Hotel and checked out this restaurant that's located inside the hotel. The ambiance is very nice. The staff was nice and friendly. We saw a-lot of Google & yelp pictures of the corn bread so we ordered that to start. Unfortunately it was not as good as we thought it would be. My husband cut me a slice and I didn't even finish the small slice. It was tasteless and dry. The manager came by to ask for feedback on the cornbread and we were trying to be nice about it but he admitted that he has been getting mixed reviews on the cornbread and that they recently changed their cornbread so the ones we were seeing pictures of they are no longer serving. We then got the Chicken and Dutchess potatoes. The waiter warned us that the chicken is fried and she did not lie. It was very Krispy. The dutchess potatoes was okay. First let me say if I could give the six stars I would. The waiter Stephen was excellent gave us good recommendations when I asked questions. I started with one of the top five old fashions I've had here in Nashville and the Sauvignon Blanc they had was excellent. When I looked at the menu online after my wife made the reservation I was like meh. This was far from meh. We had the miso buttermilk honey cornbread to start and that was a great start. The salty of the miso was great contrast to the sweet of the honey. Dinner was the BBQ glazed pork chops with creamy grits. I am not a fan of grits at all being a yankee and I am pretty sure I ate more than my southern wife that loves grits. As a side we had the Duchess Potatoes and they were just divine. Overall this was an excellent meal. If this was a stand alone restaurant and not in a hotel it would be reservation only. This was my first time going to Evelyns. We ordered the truffle fries to share. I had to the scallops and my friends both ordered the lobster Mac n cheese and short rib. Every drink we got was amazing and the bar was super cute too, I would definitely recommend sitting at the bar for a drink if you are rushed on time. Stayed in the Hutton Christmas Day so after a long day of driving, Evelyn's was more than convenient. There were some hits and some misses. The misses were largely in our appetizers. The cornbread was dry and overcooked, strange since it appeared to be individually baked for each order. The table next to us called it horrible. Not sure I would go that far but I wouldn't order it again. The second miss was the scallop appetizer. The scallops themselves were nicely seared and cooked properly but they were oddly paired with a parsnip puree and a chestnut sauce. Just off putting. The mains however were the star. My braised short rib was outstanding. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to an amazing tenderness and kissed with a Demi glacé, this is what I came for. Evelyn's is located on the first floor of the Hutton Hotel. There's a parking garage behind and they do validate your parking (it didn't work when I was there and I still had to pay - the system seemed a bit wonky). If you park, be sure you know where you're going. The hotel can be like a maze from the garage. We had a LOT of food in this upscale American restaurant and my favorite was a surprise! The carrot ravioli is amazing, sweet and creamy. I'm not a fan of carrots and I loved this dish! Highly recommend trying this one! The chicken (so juicy), scallop (perfectly cooked) and mashed potatoes were also favorites. We had to save room for dessert and the strawberry tart was well worth it. Not overly sweet but so fresh and, honestly, addictive. I was too full to finish it but didn't let that stop me. We had impeccable service from a very knowledgeable staff as well! My husband and I stayed at the Hutton this week and had many meals at Evelyn's - for brunch and dinner. The service was always exceptional (shout out to Marcel and Casey). They had great recommendations and were attentive without being annoying. But the food, the food was incredible. We tasted almost every item on the menu over the 4 days and could not find anything that disappointed. The Monte Cristo at brunch was so unique and tasted amazing. The traditional biscuits and gravy were also great and the breakfast potatoes literally melt in your mouth. The salmon was also really good but couldn't quite figure out how to eat the veggies with it - the salmon was worth it though. The highlight of all the meals was the bread pudding and espresso martinis for dinner. I am not generally a bread pudding fan but having a spoon full with a bite of vanilla ice cream is something I will be dreaming about for a while. My husband and I both agreed that the espresso martini was something special and one of the best we've ever had. Overall, you will not be disappointed with anything you get! To start the free validated garage parking or free valet is fantastic - although it's a little confusing on how to find the restaurant from the parking garage. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with the fried green tomato (such a cool option that's vegetarian friendly) and I was able to get it on a biscuit by request (traditionally comes on an English muffin). It was great! However, the real star is the hashbrown cakes! They are soft, potato-y, the a great crust, and fluffy interior. My friends also cleaned their plates of the eggs Benedict and the biscuits and gravy! The pricing was really good as well, I think my meal was around $14. The last time I went to Evelyn's, it was a few months back. Best burger ever! However this time was meh. The waiter said there was a new chef. Red flag! It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great. The shrimp and corn bisque was tasty, but I think I could have made it at home. The scampi/pappardelle was fine, but not wow. I would have preferred no bread (there was nothing to soak up), smaller pasta and a few more shrimp.
