Excellent all the way around. Loved it all. Great selection of hot teas! Hot tea was needed on a snow flurry day like today. And the French onion soup was PERFECTION. No need for me to rave over the food because the photos are great and EVERYTHING was excellent. Just check out the pics. There was a very slight delay in getting our food, but management was here to express their apologies before we could even say anything to each other about the delay. Great service from the waitress and we were immediately sat and the place quickly filled up. It's a cafe and we had lunch so can't speak to the bar scene, but the overall feel is comfortable and not too noisy. If you happen to be at a Sounds game this is a great place to stop in and visit.

With all the amazing and trendy restaurants popping up in Germantown, this place is a breath of fresh air. It's cozy and classic, the food is traditional but not boring, and the drinks are reasonably priced. It's the perfect neighborhood restaurant! We walked in at 7 pm on a Friday night. Our server was delightful, but overall we waited a lot at all points throughout the meal. We didn't mind because we were having good conversation, but it was noticeably slow. The crispy salmon was delish, though I wouldn't have minded if it was less cooked on the inside. Arugula salad was a winner, and the dirty martinis were spot on. Don't forget to try it for the great happy hour!

UN Fruit Tea

We had a meal at Germantown Cafe on Juneteenth 2025 and it did not disappoint. We were visiting from Atlanta and stopped at the National Musuem of African American Music and one of the vendors recommended that we try the restaurant for lunch and RAVED about who delicious their wings and food were. We arrived around 11:30 AM. We were seated within minutes. Our server was quick. She brought out a special menu for Juneteenth. All the drinks on it were $6.19. After reviewing it and asking her for a recommendation, I decided to order an UN fruit tea. It was pretty good. Because of the recommendation from earlier, we decided to order wings, fries and onion rings and my sweet tooth led me to order fried cheesecake. We LOVED the wings. If you're visiting like us, try the trifecta wings. You will not be disappointed. I also liked their onion rings. The fried cheesecake was a bit of an overkill level of sweetness and I did not like it as much, so I would recommend it. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the experience. It was nice to find a spot that acknowledged Juneteenth. I would come back again for sure the next time I visit Nashville.

Flavor: delicious in every dish. Went in for the french onion soup and it was exactly as I hoped it would be - flavorful soup, perfectly melted cheese. Also had the TN popcorn which was crazy good along with savory monkey bread and a Caesar salad. All good. Service: friendly, helpful Other notes: happy hour has good options in the bar. Location & Parking: corner spot, street parking. Price: good $$ for the flavor Is it what's up? Ja

Great happy hour at Germantown Cafe! Nice bar area with great service and some great prices. I had the $7 old fashioned and it was very well done. We had the house made meatballs and truffle Parmesan fries both were very good. Nice neighborhood cafe that has been around for many years always a solid choice and if you can catch happy hour some deals. They have their own parking lot a rarity in the Germantown area.

Dinner menu as of 12/21/24

Not sure how we have missed Germantown Cafe for the past few years, but now it is heavy in the rotation for date nights, brunch and/or cocktails! GTC is one restaurant with two distinct spaces. Dining room where the vibe is slower, darker and caters towards sit down meals. Classic decor, dark colors, ambient lighting and just a chill vibe. The bar area has a wildly different vibe...it is more ski-chalet/lodge feel to it with a working fireplace, ski decor mixed with TV's and sports memorabilia. While the dining room is great, the bar is absolutely where it is at! That's where the real magic happens! The space is smaller and a bit more cozy, with a good-sized bar, casual seating, and booths/high tops. Food wise, we started with the fried green tomatoes, followed by the Chicken Milanese, Plum Pork, and Brussels Sprouts. The fried green tomatoes and Brussels were absolutely phenomenal! The Chicken Milanese was good, but it was a little overcooked for my taste--the breading had some bitter spots and it was overall a bit dry. Once we wrapped dinner, we popped over to the bar for a night cap and to our surprise, at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night, they were in the middle of Happy Hour! A happy hour on a weekend? Unheard of!! We went with a few cocktails, an Espresso Martini for me and my partner went with the GTC Old Fashioned. Both were absolutely delightful! Service in the bar was on point--fast, friendly, and efficient--though a little hit or miss in the dining room. Nothing major, but noticeable. Given location, parking can be a challenge, but there is a dedicated complimentary lot, plus a pay lot on the corner, and of course, street parking if you're lucky. Overall, Germantown Cafe is a solid spot that remains a constant on our rotations!

GTC Benedict

Food is very mediocre and underwhelming for brunch. The pepper jack grits didn't taste super flavorful and were extra watery. The Benedict was alright overall maybe a solid 6-7. I also had a Bloody Mary and my friends had mimosas. All drinks were extra watered down. Wouldn't really come back for food or drinks. 4/10

Bar Top Review Service: from the moment I sat down immediate greeted and brought me yes and water. The bartender was kind and helpful! Food: had the burger and wings both were really good. The burger is a perfect size they use sweet pickles which aren't my favorite but didn't take away from the sandwich. The wings aren't the traditional size I believe they call them French cut. But they were really good! The space is cute and fits for friends or a first date. 9/10 overall

I have been here many times. Each time is a pleasant experience. This time I had the salmon over a Caesar salad with a side of truffle fries. it was okay. The salmon could always taste a bit better but overall both dishes were good. My service is usually good as well and they have WiFi which makes it a great place to do work.

Brunch Burger

I've always wanted to grab brunch here. I ordered the Breakfast Burger and Breakfast Potatoes. The portion size was massive. I had sizable leftovers. The food was pretty good but it just lacked a little flavor. There could have been more sauce on the burger. It took a while for someone to come to the front and seat us. We also barely saw our waiter and had to ask around to get water refills.

Charges automatically added for a party of 12.

During a recent work trip to Nashville, Tennessee, we had lunch at Germantown Cafe. We had a group reservation, and a long table was set up for us when we arrived. One server managed our table of 12, and since it wasn't very busy, she handled it well--except one team member's food didn't arrive with the rest. I had a fried green tomato sandwich, which was good but a bit heavy on the pimento cheese. What really disappointed us was the check: there was a 20% gratuity (which we expected for a large party), along with extra charges--a 4% Event Production Fee and a 2% Kitchen Love fee. We were not pleased to see that 26% of our check was automatically added. It definitely left a bad taste in our mouths.

Hamburger with fries, yummy!!

Met up with some friends from out of town here. It had been years since I had been here and thought of it for the location and good good. Plus, not too noisy to enjoy a conversation together too. Ordered the cheese burger with fries and another person ordered the Cesar Salad with Chicken. The burger was a hit and instead of taking home 1/2 shared with the table. Great service, plenty of street parking, and enjoy a nice night walking around the area.

French Onion Soup
Ashley M.

After seeing their bottomless Bloody Mary option online, I knew this was going to be a prime breakfast spot, and boy was I right! It might sound strange, but we ordered the French onion soup and the steak and eggs for breakfast. Please take my advice and get the soup! It's easily one of the best French onion soups I've ever had. The steak was so tender and cooked perfectly. All around, this placed knocked it out of the park! We got there shortly after they opened and had no trouble getting a table, but it did fill up quickly on a Saturday morning.

I think the carbonated coffee just confused my tastebuds. Worth trying for sure if you want something new. I got the small vanilla iced latte here and it was super good for someone that never drinks coffee. It wasn't too sweet and didn't have too much ice to the point where it got watered down heavily when the ice melted. It was also a super cute store with greenery and yummy looking pastries. There's not much space to sit inside but they do have outside seating. I definitely recommend this place

This is a Japanaese-inspired bakery and cafe. You can either make a reservation or just go and order at the counter (there might be a line). This time we made a reservation and ordered some hot food as well as pastries. We tried a few items: - various pastries including a pettanko croissant, cinnamon roll, almond miso bun, and matcha danish. Favorites were pettanko croissant and matcha danish. - bonito fries which are delicious - kabocha salad - this was my first introduction to japanese pumpkin and i loved it. It's a really well balanced salad - breakfast sandwich - oh my god yes. The bun is perfection. And that tamagoyaki egg! My mouth waters just thinking about it. - strawberry sandwich - It wasn't my favorite strawberry sandwich I've had. When I was in Japan last year, every morning I'd go to 7/11 across the street and buy one and put it in our fridge so I could have it in bed that night (they'd always be sold out at night). I've been hunting for that feeling ever since. This scratched the itch, but guess I'll just have to go back to Japan (coming fall 2026 haha). The inside is cute, not too loud, and you can get your parking validated. Can't really go wrong with that.

We ordered three different matcha drinks: the hojicha matcha latte, hokkaido matcha latte, and okinawan matcha latte. The hojicha matcha latte was my favorite -- it had a really nice roasted flavor that almost tasted chocolatey. The hokkaido matcha latte had a stronger green matcha taste, but I personally wished it had a little more sweetness. The okinawan matcha latte was just okay for me, also not very sweet. The Japanese cheesecake was definitely the standout. Super soft, fluffy, and delicious -- highly recommend ordering it. The cafe itself has plenty of space, including outdoor seating areas with lots of tables, which made it a nice place to relax and hang out. There's paid parking nearby, so keep that in mind if you're driving. Overall, a cute spot for matcha lovers and worth trying if you're in the area!

Didn't feel like I was right in the heart of bustling East Nashville - felt like a little retreat. The service was great and so patient with us as we were quite indecisive. Especially since it was a new menu and there were no pics online (then I totally forgot to take pics to help future yelpers not fall to my fate, alas!). I landed on the French Toast Bread Pudding. It was quite heavenly, but I do wish it was a bit bigger for the price... My friends both got the Avocado Toast and a few of us ordered sides of chicken sausage (and yeah, that was good and they were also a good size, plus 3 links were included in each order). We finished quite quickly but were in a deep convo about who knows what, but never felt rushed to leave (probs as it was kind of between service times, but still, appreciated). Def need to go back for Dinner and another little retreat!
