This stunningly designed restaurant inside the Conrad Hotel was great. We had an early 5:00 Rez on a Friday night and were the only ones in the restaurant until another couple came in at 5:30. I was surprised that even the bar was quiet. As the only ones there, service was friendly and attentive. The housemade focaccia they brought out was the best part of the meal. Hot and salty with a homemade olive butter was to die for. Hubs had the scallops and I had the roasted cabbage. He said his was really good and well seasoned. My was tasty but the standout was the rice - North Carolina Gold - it was if risotto and grits had a delicious love child. Recommend for sure for a higher end meal. read more

We are staying at the Conrad and decided to get the breakfast. While the hotel is fine, DO NOT EAT HERE! I ordered the Eggs Benedict which looked good on the menu but far less so upon arrival at the table. The hollandaise sauce was clumpy and congealed while the eggs looked more like hard boiled than poached. The waitress was like "You don't like them cooked?" . I ordered something more straight-forward and she asked if I would like to munch on my prior "hard boiled benedict" while waiting. Nice thought... but if it looks inedible why would I want to eat it?? I then waited patiently for my sunny side up eggs with home fried potatoes. Those arrived with a hair in them! Needless to say, after sitting patiently for an hour waiting for some semblance of edible food, I had to stand up and leave. The manager "comped" my two dishes (that I didn't touch!) but still charged for my partner's meal, the coffee and juice. Bad experience. Do not go here. read more

I was happy to walk into this restaurant as everyone was very friendly and the ambience itself look modern, clean and inviting. Started with a little mezze appetizer, this was great we were able to get a half portion since it was only two of us. For dinner I had the pork schnitzel, and did not enjoy it at all. It was way overcooked and every bite literally was seeped in oil. In fact it bothered my stomach the entire night. Maybe it was just that particular dish but it certainly wasn't what I had hoped for. I hosted an afternoon tea here for my friends recently. As someone who was coming from out of town arranging things (seating, food allergies) with the team was seamless. There were nine of us. The theme for September is downtown abbey. We were greeted with a wonderful seating arrangement where everyone was comfortable and could see and hear each other. The lobby at the Conrad is so magnificent yet intimate. Giovanna was amazing at explaining each course and the lovely teas on offer. The selection of sweet and savory offerings were great. This was not at all up to the standards one would expect for a Conrad property. I left BA frustrated and embarrassed that I'd subjected myself and my out-of-town friend to such substandard treatment and careless experience. From reading other reviews, it appears that my experience wasn't exactly a one off. An old friend of mine was coming to town in late fall and we hadn't seen each other since working together in Chicago 10 years ago. Wanting the reunion to be perfect, I picked a setting that made sense, would impress and would have a menu to accommodate our diets. Many days out I made a reservation and prepared for a fantastic late morning meal. I arrived at the Conrad just before 11 am and found my friend in the lobby. Shortly after hugging she informed me that there may be a 'problem' with our reservation. Wut? I approached the hostess stand and was told that they couldn't accommodate my reservation because hotel guests had decided to dine in that morning and they had priority. 1.) This policy needs to be crystal clear on every reservation platform. 2.) I don't care. This is a service element equal to a Motel 6, not a Conrad property. Fix this. The hostess shrugged. I asked for a manager. The assistant general manager approached us with less concern than his hostess. He made no effort to think of a fix, look for a fix, placate his guests, or find a solution. I (both my friend and I, actually) have worked in the small business/food + drink space for a decade. Some quick fixes (off the top of my head): offer a seat at the bar; offer a drink; comp a meal; offer to return for a later (lunch/dinner) service. APOLOGIZE. None of these (basic) things were done. After 15 minutes of awkwardly standing at the hostess stand, my friend and I were told (not escorted) to go upstairs to the lounge property. Wut? 1.) That property was a lounge, not a restaurant. 2.) The menu was different and not aligned with dietary needs (nor should it have to be; it's a different experience altogether). 3.) There was no mention as to whether this pivot would work. 4.) No one from BA offered to escort us off premises. Again, if we were at McDonald's I would expect such a brush off. This is a Conrad property. What the [redacted] was going on? The assistant general manager gave me his card (after I asked for it) turned from us and walked away, leaving us chagrined and confused. A reunion not to be forgotten, indeed. read more

First off, Blue Aster is a perfect representation of what a lounge/restaurant at a 5 star hotel should be. Its clean, trendy, offers great service, and some delicious meals. During our stay at the Conrad, we had breakfast a couple times, ate at the lounge, and tried the room service. The breakfast dishes most certainly delivered. Everything was always fresh and cooked to perfection! If you want something sweet? Go with the french toast! Feeling savory? Steak and eggs are the way to go. Wanna be fancy? Avocado toast for sure!! The lounge also offers a great variety of bites like hot chicken sandwich, duck cigars (so good!) and beef tartar. We were lucky enough to indulge in some classy, live music as well. One of the best things about Nashville is the radical contrast of the new and the old, with many hotels having been built only within recent years. The Conrad and its main restaurant Blue Aster are a testament to the beauty of design and refinement. The restaurant serves up truly amazing food, from solid brunch classics to more complex dinner dishes. The smoked salmon toast is phenomenal, but so are the other dishes such as Southern Benny which add a good bit of creativity to the otherwise recognizable brunch menu. The dinner selection of duck is a very memorable dish, presenting a decomposed bird in three different preparations on one plate. Frankly, the quality of the food here was a major surprise. The people who work the restaurant are very attentive and generally, there is plentiful seating. There is often piano playing for afternoon tea, making Blue Aster a very ambiance rich establishment. It would be nice to have the piano positioned slightly more centrally so that guests can see the performer, but that's just getting picky. read more

My husband and I are at the Blue Aster for breakfast every day over the span of three days. I love a pretty brunch spot with a calm ambiance. The grain bowl with egg really hit the spot after a tough workout, all the ingredients were really fresh and flavorful. The omelette had tomatoes, bacon, and cheese, but the accompanied potatoes were exceptionally good. Topped with chives and lightly seasoned, the roasted potatoes were simple but tasted as good as fresh farmers market produce. I ordered the açaí bowl our second visit here and it was perfectly refreshing. The cafe latte was delicious and creamy without any additional sweeteners. For our last visit, I ordered the avocado toast with a poached egg. The sourdough was fantastic with olive oil drizzle and pesto to accompany the avocado. The service was quick and efficient. The waitress was very argumentative over anything we asked her regarding why the dishes were so burnt, and the rice was crispy . The ambience was your basic hotel ambience there was nobody inside this restaurant on a Friday night in Nashville. That should've been the first clue when we walked in. The one was great, the other was less so, and as such, averaging them out to 3 stars between the two visits. The first breakfast was great: Service was attentive and fun, and everything was cooked to perfection. The second day service was slow--despite the restaurant being more empty than the day before and while we were served tap water on day one, we were brought nearly $20 worth of bottled water on day two. Visited this place for the Grinch Tea, which obviously had better be good because that's a bold name to call it if they weren't going to deliver on the theming. No need to fear because the menu had cute names that referred to the cartoon and before long, the Grinch came out to take pictures at each table and to make time with the guests. Foodwise, it's an okay tea in a luxurious, lavish, quietly classy location. I say that because the tea food was nothing special. My faves were the Who Smoked Salmon Sandwich, the Cindy Lou Who Pecan Pie, and the I hate X-Mas Apple financier. The scones, which usually are the highlight for me at a tea if they scones are fresh and they're served with real devonshire or clotted cream, were not great and had a heavy baking soda flavor. And the service? The Grinch visited us more than the waitress. I wish I could give her the excuse that it was a busy day, but all we wanted was more hot tea for our tea pots and she was nowhere to be found after she gave us our tea pots. our food was served by someone else and we never saw her again. I'm not kidding when I say that the Grinch visited us four times and the waitress only once. What?!? Still we enjoyed our tea because in that lobby, you have beautiful furniture and it's easy to get into the Christmas spirit. Just don't expect extra hot water for your tea. read more

We ate here for breakfast all three mornings of our stay. I loved everything I had. The acai bowl is one of the best I've ever had. It is large and has a ton of fresh fruit. I also loved the breakfast potatoes, they were amazing. The menu was slightly different on Monday than it was over the weekend. I would have preferred the weekend menu. Went to a fabulous collaborative dinner between Butcher and Bee and Blue Aster. Started with drinks at the bar which was stunning and the garnishes for the drinks were beautiful and they tasted incredible. Fun use of ingredients and super unique flavor profile. The dinner portions were huge and incredible. Our waiter was terrific--perfect balance of attentive, knowledgeable and funny without being over the top. The bread service is almost too pretty to eat and they have a very reasonably priced wine list. Excited to go back when it's not a collaborative dinner. One other note is they were so engaging with the customers--the chefs came out multiple times during the evening to check on folks and I love that you can see the kitchen from the space. We originally came in for a drink we saw attributed to this bar on yelp. The glass where you can drink from the glass straw. Apparently it's at the upstairs bar, which is only open during the evening and night. Since we walked all the way over here, we thought we would try whatever they had on the menu before we walked all the way back down broadway. Much to my pleasant surprise they had a cocktail with egg white on the menu. I was amazed at the calibration and technique the bartender had when carefully measuring out the ingredients and processing the order to perfection. The bar is open during the mornings to compliment the brunch and breakfast menu inside the Conrad restaurant. It was served with a flower cutting and atop a lovely cloth looking blue reusable napkin. Bill showed up a the end without my asking which was weird. Perhaps waitress misheard. Mayo that was requested came out way too long. While I would like to rate this place higher, I just could not do so in good conscience. Honestly, were it not for the privileges and benefits I receive as an American Express Platinum card holder, I could not tender a positive recommendation of this restaurant, or say that I would have had an enjoyable visit. With that said, I frequented this restaurant for both dinner and brunch / breakfast service the following morning as I stayed at the hotel in which this restaurant is located. While I have a very positive, possibly effusive commentary upon the hotel stay experience, I unfortunately cannot say the same for the restaurant. The food is mediocre and lacks seasoning. Some of the items are also quite small in portion while others are standard. I was okay with the experience, however, until it came time for the duck which, was so lacking of flavor, cold, overcooked, and poorly executed that not only, was it not, in fact, per the recommendation of the waiter, good, but it was outright terrible. Likewise, while the honey orange cake dessert looks like an attractive option, both in description on the menu as well as in visual form courtesy of my picture below, it was somewhere between bad and barely tolerable. To stay in such a nice hotel, you almost don't want to go anywhere. And I understand if you might be curious to explore the restaurant on top of not desiring to move. The Conrad is so comfortable, so luxurious, so great; but dining here is, at the very least, a mistake; and, at worst, a punishing oversight that will leave you miserable and confused. This was my third time total at Blue Aster's afternoon tea service. The first time was a few years back before they started doing themes and I left with a favorable impression. Earlier this year, I attended their Bridgerton themed afternoon tea and returned today for the Grinch afternoon tea. Overall, I was disappointed with the execution of the Grinch tea service, especially compared to previous ones. I just didn't quite enjoy the savory tea sandwiches quite as much this time around (the smoked trout was the highlight for me) but I appreciated that they tried different things and it isn't always the same menu. The real disappointment was the dessert course - of the 5 options, there were 2 cookies and an Oreo truffle which was basically an Oreo cake pop. I understand that this theme might attract more children and that may have inspired the choices but overall, it was disappointing and lacking in variety. After scones and sandwiches, the best teas have a dessert courses that include tarts, trifles, something that isn't yet another carb heavy course and includes some items that are lighter. Usually, I leave afternoon tea full between the scones, sandwiches and desserts but after today? I could eat - and maybe that's on me for not eating all of the cookies but they just weren't what I wanted. One small nitpick in general - as nice as the tea service and set up is, I have never understood how they do the sugar here. They bring the sugar cubes in a porcelain container but don't have tongs to get the cubes out ... am I supposed to use the spoon that I have stirred the tea with? My hands? So overall - I would still try the Blue Aster afternoon tea but wait till the next year to see the next theme. read more

My hubby and I came here for a thanksgiving dinner. I really liked the vibe of this place, but I wouldn't say they had the best service. Our server was really nice but everything was super slow. The table next to us got pretty upset because they had to wait for so long. Also, the food was good, but I felt like making thanksgiving food is just not as good as what your mom makes you for the holiday so it was kind of hard to compare. The whole time I just wanted my mom's home cooked thanksgiving meal... haha. However, the pumpkin soup was so good! That was my favorite thing on the menu and it gives this place a whole extra star. The drinks were good too and I would recommend cocktails here. Not to mention the bread was so good! It came on a hot plate with rosemary herb and butter! This place was really great to me. It's located in the Conrad Hotel but it's open to the public. I had the brunch menu and the selection were of my taste. I really liked the sizing of the meals because it was enough to actually fill you up. My waiter was cool and he made sure to check in on me to make my sit a pleasant one. I had the standard breakfast platter and the stone cut oatmeal. Oatmeal comes with fruits, berries and oat milk as an add in. Please mix in everything, you will not regret it. My platter was great as well and the biscuit with the jam was a treat. (I love biscuits) The actual place is very well set and I like environment.
