We spent a few days in down town Nashville and walked past this diner numerous times. We were intrigued by a 6 story diner, and this morning, decided to give it a shot. So glad we did! They seated us on the 4th floor, next to a large open window, where we had an excellent view of the street below. My wife and I decided to split the waffle sliders: Omelet Style Eggs, Cheddar Cheese, and Bacon sandwiched between 2 pieces of Belgian Waffles. There were 2 'sliders' - which were huge! Everything was cooked to perfection. And the combination of flavors were unbelievable. We both thought they were delicious. I can't wait to try making this at home! The decor was great. Loved the location, view and service but the food was mediocre. It was right around the corner from the hotel we stayed at so it was perfect for us to be within walking distance. It was also pretty cool that there's different floors to eat on. We were on the 6th floor so the view was great. Our server was knowledgeable about Nashville so that was a great conversation with her. The food was mediocre - I had the avocado toast that did not have a lot of avocado but it was ok. After a very fun night in Nashville we stopped off at the diner for a cup of coffee and muffin to start the day and drive to Knoxville. The Diner in Nashville is a pretty unique spot since it is a six-story diner right on 3rd Street. We ended up being seated on the 5th floor, which gave us a really cool view of the street below. It was fun to watch all the life and activity from up there, though there is another building nearby, so your view might depend on exactly where your table is. As for the breakfast, it was solid for what you expect from a diner. We had the standard stuff like scrambled eggs, skillet potatoes, and biscuits. There was honestly nothing bad to say about the flavor of the food because everything tasted good and was well-prepared. My only real gripe was the size of the biscuits. They were basically silver dollar sized, and you only get three in an order. It was hardly enough to really sit back and enjoy them, which was a bummer. But again, the flavor was good across the board, so the rest of the meal kind of made up for where the biscuit portions fell short. The staff were also incredibly nice and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Another cool thing is that they have an in-house coffee shop on the first floor. It is worth stopping by there after your meal to grab some of their seasonal drinks or a coffee for the road. Overall, it is a neat place to check out if you are in the area. read more

Multiple floors with seating facing the street and interior counter seating. TVs showing the latest games. We opted for both, street watching is very entertaining. The bathrooms were very clean with fully private stalls and the game blasting over speakers. Service: 4.0. Reasonably attentive, answering questions efficiently, nothing bad nor over the top. It was a Saturday morning and lines were wrapped around the corners of a lot of local breakfast joints, so we went online and found that this one had available reservations, so we took it. They have six floors of space. Impressive! When they told us to take the elevator up, we couldn't believe it. Great views, awesome server, and really good breakfast food. We loved this place, and it was a local who told us about it. We were on the 6th floor overlooking the city, and really enjoyed our Cheeseburger w. Gruyere cheese and fries. It was late and the burger was thick and made just like I asked for "rare" and the fries had the ridges in it, and were excellent. Came here on a whim looking for some food before a concert, ended up being a new go to before events in the area! It was me and my dad, and we were immediately greeted and asked where we wanted to sit. Top floor, of course, and it was magnificent to see the skyline. We were on a time crunch, so we placed an order quickly once we sat down, and the waitress was an absolute sweetheart. The menu had some delectable looking options, and we both got the chicken wrap, mine with no tomatoes, and it was out insanely fast. One bite in, and I was in heaven. Perfectly crispy chicken, a soft, decadent tortilla, and a flawless ratio of sauce to toppings. The fries? No notes; exceptional. We were in and out within 30 minutes, and arrived at the concert venue with plenty of time to spare. Great prices, even better staff, and even better food. Our experience was just A-OK. My husband and I needed a quick breakfast before leaving Nashville. Many restaurants we wanted to try had long lines, but we noticed that The Diner did not. We walked in and were directed to the sixth floor for additional seating. The sixth floor is open-air, offering a fantastic view! Most tables were occupied, so we settled into a couple of seats at the bar. There was only one bartender on duty. Although she was friendly, she seemed a bit overwhelmed. We later learned that she was filling in for the original bartender who had called out. We ordered the following dishes from her: California breakfast sandwich: $15 Shrimp and grits: $26 The California breakfast sandwich featured grilled tomato, avocado, gruyere cheese, bacon, and egg on sourdough, accompanied by a side of homestyle potatoes. The shrimp and grits came with spicy jumbo shrimp topped with BBQ butter sauce, served over smoked gouda grits. Both dishes were decent, but neither was particularly remarkable or disappointing. We also ordered coffee alongside our meals. The bartender brought me a cup and informed my husband that a fresh pot was brewing and would be available shortly. Unfortunately, my coffee was cold, so I requested a cup from the fresh batch. By the time we finished our meals, the fresh pot was still not ready, so we decided to cancel the coffees. Though it wasn't her fault, the bartender did apologize. She did best that she could. On our way out, we grabbed lattes from the cafe on the first floor, which were also just average. For a conference, we went out to have dinner. I ordered the Caesar salad, and my colleagues had the gumbo. The salad was good, but the chicken was a little small. I had a Lemon Drop Martini, and the service was good. However, since the restaurant has multiple levels, the hostess on the bottom floor could give better seating directions. She told us to go to the top floor, where there were no tables, and the bartender then directed us back down to the 3rd floor. read more

We have eaten at The Diner in previous years and its been just okay, so we tried to give it another chance. The service was just okay nothing great and our food was tolerable at best. I had the panko coated shrimp with a sweet chili sauce coating. The shrimp was soaked in the chili sauce and was overwhelming. The portion was a good size which was a plus. The grits were probably the best part of my meal. There was plenty and they were tasty. The best part of the diner was the view and location. We had a window seat and had a great view of Nashville. Unfortunately, after trying The Diner a few times when in Nashville, I just do not feel it is the place for us. read more

Please please please serve hot maple syrup with this dish. The cold maple syrup literally kills this dish. It has potential, but the cold maple syrup ruins this dish. Also, don't forget the butter! I absolutely love this place. Took my wife, sister and brother in law there when my sister and her husband were visiting. We all had outstanding meals and service. My sister loved the fact that you can have basically anything you want for breakfast along with an old fashion. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. My FAVORITE place to eat in Nashville. The breakfast here is absolutely phenomenal. The menu is pretty small though so I'd recommend to look up the menu before arrival. The bar is great as well they offer many kinds of cocktails and mocktails. It isn't a "typical diner." They have a 4th & 6th floor the offers views of Nashville and seems way fancier then a diner. The first floor is "diner-like" and is very good as well. They have all different kinds of vibes. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. Found this hidden gem on our way home from the downtown nightlife lWe were asked how many in our party ( 2 ) and were directed to take the elevator to the 6th floor rooftop. I wasn't overly impressed by the view. It was literally tops of the adjoining buildings. No real view at that angle, I think the ground floor view would have been better for us to see the Nashville nightlife. The waiter was very friendly.
