Country Fried Steak + eggs & Hashbrown Casserole
    Darren S.

I'm so sorry to be writing this review so late, because I'd forgotten the name of my waiter --- but he was awesome and I promised a review would come sooner-or-later. I was passing through Nashville, and saw this spot "The Loveless Cafe", featured several times on certain YouTube Channel reviews. It looked good, and it looked like it wouldn't disappoint so I took the opportunity to pay a visit. To be honest, it's a bit off the beaten path from the "main city", but that's also part of the charm. When you arrive in, it really is a "premises"; there are different buildings, etc. I just followed where the people went, and thankfully it was the restaurant. I was greeted promptly, and sat immediately. The southern hospitality always surprises me because I'm from the northeast lol. It's honestly a breath of fresh air. I ordered the country-fried steak w/ two eggs, and for my side I got the famous hashbrown casserole. After the order was put-in, immediately my 3 HUGE biscuits arrived, all for me. I get the hype! They are a different-style biscuit from the norm, but still amazing to try something off the beaten path. Pivoting from the biscuits, on to the main. I'm a bit of a "prude" to country fried steak, and when I saw it --- it was huge --- but it was so "square"? The shape was weird, and the texture was not my favorite. Not like the ones in Texas I've had. Also, I think I am just not a fan of hashbrown casseroles in general --- neither here, nor at Cracker Barrel. I think my mind only liked "crispy potatoes" in the morning, so I won't hold that against them. I do think both of them are good in their own right, just not my cup of tea. 3.8/5. Don't get me wrong --- I was and still am extremely pleased with this place. Pay them a visit, try their amazing biscuits, and get the full southern experience! 4/5

Love the southern atmosphere this place brings. Very country home feeling with the waiting staff and host entry. I had to get the fried chicken with two eggs on the breakfast menu. The hot chicken was so good. Love the different options of jelly and jams. They bring out to the table with biscuits. Very filling size portions all around. The gift store was too cute with the kitchen gadgets available for sale. Also bringing home souvenir items like country ham, and jams were available.

Must visit for the biscuits! The fried chicken was ok. I went around 3:30 pm and there was no line. It helped that it was raining outside. This place is usually packed and you will most likely have to wait. There's a few stores around for you to walk around. Theres a lot of parking spaces.

The woman staffing the front entrance was super nice and bubbly, we were seated right away. The café is brightly lit and has a lot of natural light too, it gives a very clean and welcoming feel. Our waiter was not great. He was not very attentive nor super friendly, which was disappointing. We all had the "Music City Platter", two had bacon which they enjoyed. I decided on their country ham and did not enjoy it. It was super dry and overly salty. I was surprised that they are known for it. We all enjoyed our eggs, pancakes, and potatoes (highly recommend the hash brown casserole). And then there are the biscuits and jam. Omgoodness! So, so good, do not skip them. We were glad to take some home with us. Overall, I would totally recommend stopping in for breakfast. Our waiter is the ONLY reason I'm docking a star.

This place has been on my bucket list for over 10 years, so I was excited to finally make it happen. I was visiting my only friend from high school who lives in Franklin. I am absolutely certain she is tired of bringing every out of town guest here, but she knows how much of a foodie I am, and she is a good sport... Her strategy was to avoid the lines, and we absolutely did that by making an 8:15 am reservation. When we arrived, the place was only about half full, so the reservation almost felt unnecessary, but I would still recommend making one just in case. There are only a few things that can get me out of bed early on vacation, and a bucket list restaurant is definitely one of them. I usually prefer a crispy, flaky biscuit, but these are more buttery and pillowy. Even so, they completely won me over on the first bite. They bring a generous pile of biscuits to the table for free, and it felt like more than two per person. After starting with a simple biscuit with butter and blackberry jam, I decided to go all in and ordered a biscuit sandwich with bacon, egg, and hashbrown casserole. Honestly, the biscuit on its own might have been even better than the one I built, which says a lot about how good they are. I also spent some time in the store, which was fun to browse. I managed to resist the "praise the lard" mug, but it was tempting. Overall, this lived up to the hype for me, especially if you go early and skip the crowds.

OMG!! If you know.... You freakin KNOW!!!! This is easily one of my top 5 Breakfast spots in the country! The home made biscuits are out of this world! The staff? Everyone is a literal ball of sunshine. It's just one of the cutest and just classic looking diners if that's what you want to call it. It looks like a motel from the outside: I love that they have a cute little gift shop next door. I quite literally dream about going back to eat here!

We were immediately intrigued with all the recommendations for Loveless Cafe after landing in Nashville. Unfortunately reading the reviews, it seemed like we would have to skip given the reported wait times, sometimes hours long, especially for weekend brunch. Yet, I decided to check their website just in case and managed to snag a reservation the previous night for a 10AM brunch on Sunday. Perhaps our fears were a bit overblown? When we got there right on time, it was actually not very busy at all, perhaps due to the extreme cold over the weekend. Service at Loveless Cafe is very prompt and friendly. I think we were checked on at least 5 times in the hour or so that we were there. After ordering, our food arrived within 5 or 10 minutes. Most things are definitely precooked and assembled. They first start off with a plate of complimentary biscuits and jam. For the two of us, we got four freshly baked ones - we saw a staff member carry steaming hot trays of biscuits to the kitchen and dump them into a warmer. Our waitress immediately took some out for us. These biscuits smell floury and alkaline and definitely aren't particularly buttery. They aren't layered at all either, but instead are extremely fluffy, soft, and moist, so tender that they almost are able to fall apart on their own. While I typically like buttery, layered biscuits more, I enjoyed these enough that I decided to purchase a couple of bags of their famous biscuit mix to bring home. In terms of jams, we had strawberry and peach, both of which are super sweet almost like eating candy. Loveless Cafe Fried Chicken and Two Eggs, Half Chicken ($18.25) - Loveless serves an old school, classical fried chicken. The flour-based breading isn't seasoned too much, but is fried until very crisp. It tastes mostly of fryer oil with salt and perhaps a bit of allium essence. It's pretty simple, but good. I believe they batch fry the chicken with all pieces fried for the same amount of time, so the smaller pieces like the drum and wing are drier than the larger pieces. Not terrible by any means, and the larger pieces still remain pretty tender, albeit with the darker dry coat underneath the breading. We ordered the two eggs over medium, but they were served not even to the point of being over easy, given that some of the white hadn't set yet. For the side, we chose the hashbrown casserole, which consists of one scoop of tender shredded potatoes mixed with sour cream and cheese. It's quite refreshing with the tang of the cream cutting through the cheesy richness. Build Your Own Biscuits Sliders, Country Ham, Pimento Cheese N' Fried Green Tomatoes, Pulled Pork Barbeque ($13.99) - This dish comes with six biscuits and three fillers. For the country ham, they include two slices - they are dried out and chewy and give a burst of salty flavor. The pulled pork is very smoky, is quite moist, and is served in a bowl of pork juices. The juice itself isn't that heavily seasoned and is on the lighter side. The green tomato has a thin crisp cornmeal based breading on the top and bottom, but not on the sides. Interesting. The two pieces are topped with pimento cheese that's kind of generic. It's definitely way more mayo than cheese, so it doesn't manage to hold the scoop shape for very long and instead flattens out like a gel conforming to a container. It has tangy and sharp cheddar cheese and plenty of chopped pimentos that give a little sweetness and heat. Overall I quite enjoyed my meal at Loveless. It's really just one of those classic places that serves a satisfying, old-school, comforting meal. Bathrooms - Two larger ones with multiple stalls

I hadn't been here in over 2 years and the food was as good as last time! I got the music city platter with pancakes, eggs, ham, and hashbrowns. Everything was delicious! And of course the biscuits and jam are a highlight of the meal! The portion was massive and the service was so friendly!

The Loveless Cafe is a fun destination spot, but the breakfast food was average at best. The restaurant is on property with a couple of shops. Check it out if you'd like some jam and biscuits to take home. They also had coffee and drinks in the gift shop. There is a lot of parking. It doesn't look like it when you enter, but drive past the gift shop to find large lots on both sides of the event venue. The service here was great. They were well staffed and everything moved quickly. Our waitress was really friendly and took great care of us. The biscuits lived up to the hype. Those were 5/5 and I love that they serve a giant plate of them before you even order. Our biscuits came with peach jam and blackberry jam. The rest of our breakfast was not special. I ordered the 1/4 White Fried Chicken with Eggs and chose the Hashbrown Casserole as my side. The Fried Chicken was a little dry inside and I didn't find anything about it to be special. I love Hashbrown Casserole, but unfortunately my husband and I didn't care for the flavor of theirs. My husband thought his Country Ham was good. My daughter enjoyed her French Toast. My husband had Sweet Tea and said it was pigeon sweat. I don't know exactly what that means, but he didn't like it. We also took three slices of pie to go. The Peanut Butter, Steeplechase, & Coconut Cream. None had much flavor and had soggy crust like it wasn't fresh. Overall, this is a cute spot to check out if you're in the area. I wouldn't prioritize it or go out of my way based on food alone.

No trip to Nashville is complete without a meal at Loveless. Whether it's Dinner with fried chicken and biscuits or Breakfast with country ham and biscuits, biscuits are the star. They are delicious. The fried chicken is the other star. Service is always first rate with very friendly staff. The setting takes you back in time. It's in an old motor inn motel setting. Some of the cabin rooms are craft and gift shops. It's a must stop.

Hog Heaven Omelet and Hash Brown Casserole

My wife and I were in Franklin, Tennessee over the holidays for a family get together. The Loveless Cafe was highly recommended by my nephew so we decided to try it on our way out of town. Extremely good choice. We were early enough that it was only a 30 minute wait. Our server brought out biscuits and preserves when she showed up to take our order. The biscuits were so good that they made me homesick for my late mother's when I was a child. We each ordered a Mason Jar Mary which is their bloody Mary. I had the Hog Heaven omelet which had bacon, sausage, ham, peppers, and onions in it. I also ordered a side of the hash brown casserole. That was so good that I will be dreaming of it for a while. My wife a cup of sausage gravy to pour over the biscuits and a piece of country ham. This was just enough for her and she loved it. Our sever was quick to take care of anything we asked for including to go sodas. We enjoyed the preserves so much that we visited the merch store and bought some to take home. The restaurant is a converted 1950's motel with photos of hundreds of famous people that have been there. The place is nothing fancy but the food is good. Take the time to visit and try it.

While visiting my friend in Nashville, we decided to venture a bit out of the city to come to The Loveless Cafe. Be prepared for a wait, even on weekdays. While waiting, we stopped by the shops next door, so that helped to kill some time. The vibes are very country, especially for a Northeast gal like me! I appreciated the good service and nice hospitality feel. The food is delicious but on the heavier side, so my friend and I both had leftovers. I'd recommend coming for the overall experience.

I arrived on a Saturday Afternoon at approximately 2:30pm. Wait was not long, a table for 2. Biscuits are complimentary with jam. The jams were blackberries, strawberry, apricot. We shared the sample plates with meatloaf, chicken and ham tried the green fried tomatoes green beans were good. Service was great

I tried to swing by around ten minutes to noon, but it was a disaster. There were heaps of people waiting outside, and it didn't look promising. I went to the hostess stand and asked the guy if I could get a table for one, and he said, "Oh, you can sit at the bar; it's open seating. There's one open seat right there!" So, I walked through and was approached by another worker who asked me what I was doing. I told her the guy said I could sit at the bar, and there was an open seat, even though I never saw one. I did see open seats outside at the bar, though. The bar has two sides, one outside and one inside. It seemed alright; it wasn't too hot or humid, so I went. There were dirty dishes all over the place, and I sat down. Another worker asked me, "Are these dishes yours?" Which seemed a bit strange because the guy works the bar and wouldn't he have known the person sitting there before me left them? Anyway, I said no, and he cleared them. I then waited about 5 minutes before another worker skillfully wiped the bar of debris and then got three menus and three sets of silverware (two more guys sat down next to me) and asked me if I wanted water. I said, "Yes, please." She went off, and then shortly after, I saw the same guy come with a menu and a set of silverware and a water. Thumbs up for the water but thumb down for the slowness. I saw the menu and was torn between pancakes and biscuits. I didn't really want anything heavy, so I got the biscuits and gravy but added an egg. I also got a coffee. The wait time for the food was super quick, and the food was really good. The biscuits are small, and they're okay. The egg was good, but it's kinda hard to mess up an egg. I saw the food the people sitting next to me got, and it looked amazing! Pancakes, etc. Overall, the service was pretty bad, but the food was good. I saw no sense of urgency in the workers when they were obviously swamped. I might come when it's not so busy next time. Side note, maybe I'm showing my age, but the price of regular drip coffee was a bit steep. ($4).

Sweet, warm, buttery, with the perfect cinnamon flavor... I could probably drink that syrup by itself. What impressed me most is that despite how full the restaurant was, our food came out in less than 20 minutes. Everything felt efficient without ever feeling rushed. This is one of those places where yes, the food is really good, but what truly makes you want to come back is the service and atmosphere. Overall I loved the entire experience, and the next time I come back to Nashville, I already know I'll be returning here.
