Our server was so nice, fixed our shaky table without even being asked, gave many great drink and food recommendations, etc. The interior is very modern and the seating and tables were well-decorated and comfy. I loved all the food we had. The spicy Caesar had just the right amount of kick, great unique take on my favorite salad. The bone marrow was delicious!!! Their seasonings on top added to the natural juiciness and flavor of the meat. I also enjoyed the sierra steak cut, although not my favorite steak ever. The carrot cake dessert was just the right size and so yummy! I didn't love the tart ice cream paired with it but my sister did, so that's probably just a me thing. I wanted to rate this place higher, but my whole crew felt the same. If half stars were allowed, it would be 2.5 stars. First of all - the group of us were and still are in a good mood, but we need to keep it real. Prices were actually quite reasonable. However.... Food was a mix. Some of the dishes were good (we had 5 dishes), some were average. So - somewhere on the slight positive side. But.... the restaurant is either significantly understaffed, undertrained, or a combination of the two. It started with having to wait 10 minutes to be seated (with a reservation) with a 25% full restaurant. The waiter took a while to come to our table, but was a nice guy. As for after the order.... One dish was not brought out and while the waiter made a mistake and made it right by comping it, he also visited the table very rarely and it took a special trip to the kitchen to tell them that it had not come out after waiting him to come to the table. Normally the waiter comes back within a few minutes after the food is placed. Empty dishes were left at the table for a long time without pick up and it was a bit disturbing to see at least 3 staff standing around just chatting. Couldn't get a dessert menu for some reason. Time between order and food was very good though. Ambiance was pretty good - nice enough and clean enough. All-in-all, I will not return nor will I recommend this place until I hear management has addressed the service issue. read more

Great food- we got the chicken and waffles and the chicken sausage biscuits and gravy. I don't eat pork, so the biscuits and gravy being made with chicken sausage was a welcome surprise. We enjoyed both of the dishes a lot, everything was very flavorful and well made. Service was quick and efficient, and the morning we ate at the restaurant was quiet and the weather was beautiful. We were staying at 1 hotel and wanted to eat there on our second morning, but due to the marathon, we were told we needed a reservation and couldn't be accommodated for a while- this was a little upsetting as we were hotel guests and were not warned about this ahead of time. My husband and I are in town from Phoenix to see "The Birth of the King." We found 1 Kitchen on Yelp and chose to eat here because it advertised farm to table dining which we love. Wow, this place is amazing! You'll wanna live here, the vibe is so great. I loved the food; it was one of the best meals we had in Nashville this trip. Everything was delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. The service is super nice and helpful. It's not super speedy, but it's not slow either, and I love the vibe with the low lights and everything. It's really well thought out, and you definitely have to check it out. This was my first visit to 1 Kitchen, and I had high hopes--especially given the beautiful ambiance and aesthetic of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations . We ordered the shrimp à la plancha, Black Hawk beef teres major, burger, calamari, and Brussels sprouts. Of all the dishes, only the Brussels sprouts and burger were enjoyable. The rest of the food was either underseasoned or poorly cooked, which was disappointing considering our bill came to $250. On a positive note, our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and professional, which helped make the experience a bit more pleasant. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning, as the food simply didn't justify the price. read more

I enjoyed 1 Kitchen for lunch on two different occasions! The interior and patio dining space is beautiful with a modern bohemian esthetic. Think high ceilings, neutral tones, and earthy finishes. Matching the ambiance, the menu features a wide range of healthy farm to table dishes from fresh juices to grains and greens. It's worth noting that their lunch time menu is actually a brunch menu with a combination of more traditional breakfast items joined by more savory lunch type dishes all on one menu. I am personally not a fan of breakfast foods so I was relieved to see several salads, sandwiches and bowls available. During my two visits I tried the spicy carrot hummus bowl and the roasted beet salad, both with added salmon. Both dishes were fresh and filling. While the food was nourishing and satisfying, it did feel a bit expensive. Salads and bowls run about $20 plus or minus a few dollars but added salmon or shrimp adds an additional $12 or $15, respectively. This feels a little pricey for lunch. read more

Loved their lattes as well but not impressed with the cold brew. Service was good as well! Overall wonderful experience deserving of an extra star. We just finished walking the Frist Museum and wanted to have dinner close. This place had a wonderful menu, plus high marks for service, and they did not disappoint. Food: Delicious! I got the Gulf Shrimp as an appetizer and the Black Hawk Steak as my main. Perfect amount of food. Perfectly cooked. Service: Wonderful! From the hostess, to our waitress, to one of the chefs visiting the table... the whole experience was amazing. Our waitress explained the menu and the lack of main dishes and abundance of appetizers; the restaurant is catered more to a tapas style of dining. My party ordered their own dishes, but we all ended up sharing anyways... the food was too good to not try a bit off each plate. Ambiance: trendy, low light, cozy. I'd never knock a star without some suggestions: 1. I'm sure tables further from the bar are not disturbed. However, noise from the bar area can be heard through a slotted false wall that allows light and an open feeling. Suggesting a pane of glass be mounted here to cut noise a bit, but still keep the feeling of the open floor plan. We had a wonderful table, but often had to talk over the noise from the bar to hear one another. 2. Put bottle prices of the wine on the menu. There are only prices for 5oz and 8oz pour(s). They will sell the whole bottle upon request. Then the wait staff have to go and figure that cost out, etc. This is a pretty classy restaurant and I think it would be beneficial to have the bottle prices advertised. Here's what I tried: -Brussel Sprouts: 7/10 - I really liked the added sweetness of the dates and the saltiness of the bacon, but I felt like there was too much dressing/vinegar, which took away from the crispiness of the sprouts. I can never hate a sprout, though. Still great. -Hush Puppies: 5/10 - I wanted to like these more than I did. This isn't something I would normally order but it was recommended by our waiter and the table next to us. The hush puppies were well cooked but they really were just run of the mill. They looked more interesting than they tasted. -Scallops: 7/10 - I loved the leek puree under the scallops, but I wish the scallops were more buttery and that the sauce had been a bit richer. The crispy decorations on top were a nice touch, though. -Chicken Bolognese: 8/10 - My favorite dish that we had. It was simple, but well executed. I was in town for a work convention, and I decided to pick a different hotel than the group that was offered to us based on their reviews, it was no contest to pick one Hotel Nashville. As a bonus, it turned out that they had a wonderful restaurant, 1 Kitchen! My only wish was that my day was longer so that I could've tried it more than one evening, but the dinner that I had along with the cocktails beforehand, we're all delicious! And the service was equally great. I would recommend it to anyone even if you're not staying in the hotel. read more

We stayed in the Sobro area of Nashville on Christmas Day. I researched places to eat and was very excited to eat at 1 Kitchen. We LOVE farm to table restaurants. The restaurant was festive and beautiful. They seated us quickly and our waitress was good. It was a set menu for Christmas Day (charcuterie, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, stuffing, salad, ham and prime rib roast). All great options for a Christmas dinner. Unfortunately, I found the meal to be mediocre and lacking in flavor. Given that it was a set menu, I had higher expectations for more developed flavors for such a nice restaurant. The ham was incredibly dry and after one bite neither my husband nor I wanted any more of it. The prime rib roast they brought to us was mostly the grisly and chewy part. For the price I expected more control of giving patrons better parts. I don't mind a little gristle but not the majority of our portion to be grisly. We showed our waitress and requested better cut. She was kind and took it back and requested another portion for us. Unfortunately, it took 10-15 minutes to bring out the beef. While we waited we had to keep fanning away some fruit flies. For this caliber of a restaurant and the price, it was disappointing. I honestly felt that I could receive the same quality at a mediocre all you can eat restaurant. We were staying at 1 Hotel. We went down to the in-house restaurant for a late breakfast. I thought we'd be hitting the brunch. We hit the brunch menu but were too early for vinyl brunch - a dj spinning an eclectic selection of actual albums! The restaurant website says it starts at 7 but it definitely starts a lot later. We met the DJ while waiting for our car upon checkout. I'm really sorry we missed him. I ordered the omelette with fresh mozzarella and fine herbs. I added a side of bacon and substituted fingerling potatoes for the salad. The omelette arrived quickly. It was a little strange looking - exceptionally smooth - I'm not sure if it was fresh eggs or the liquid stuff from a carton. I was expecting herbs. You'll see in the photo that there were maybe 5 tiny pieces of parsley ( I guess) as a tiny garnish. There was more Parsley sprinkled on the potatoes. The potatoes were supposed to be crispy and garlic. They were neither. I brought them home, I'll throw them in the air fryer and then they should be crisp. When served I asked for my side of bacon. It was broken into bits and added to the center of the omelette. Even after all of that, you're still considering the omelette. Don't. It definitely wasn't that good and for $18 (just the basic omelette) it's not worth it. My husband ordered the crab cake sandwich. The crab cake was very small and pretty much swallowed by the bun. I thought it was risky of him to order a crab cake when we had only been home from Baltimore a week. He said it wasn't bad - it probably would have been really good had he not just had his fill in Maryland. Where our food (especially mine) fell flat, our service was stellar. Our server was a young man who was new to the States from Ukraine. We asked him about his homeland and he told us about his family. He told us about what he likes about the United States and about some of the things he's looking forward to doing. We wish him well and will keep his family in our prayers. Will we come back to 1 Kitchen for brunch? Only if it's included in our room rate. For $70 (without alcohol), we could certainly do better. read more

Great atmosphere! Very good food. Wait staff is great. We drove and had a little trouble parking. When you enter off of Demonbreun, you will see what appears to be an entrance and an exit. The "entrance" is really and entrance and an exit for a hotel on the east side of the building and the "exit" is the entrance and exit for a second hotel on the west side of the building. You want to enter the west (or left as you face the two entrances) so you can use the valet parking, which is complementary with your meal. The valets were not happy when we crossed over from the other business's side, so please do not make that mistake.
