We showed up for our 6:30 reservation and were promptly seated in a booth and noticed a large table next to us and knew we were in for a noisy dinner. The restaurant is fairly small so there wasn't really anywhere else to sit. Our server quickly brought our cocktail and wine. The menu has a great variety of choices and I had a hard time choosing. I decided to start with a Caesar salad, and had the cannelloni as my entree. We also ordered the garlic bread. My salad arrived within minutes as did the bread. The salad was a good size and was tasty. I loved the bread served with marinara. The bad news was that I had eaten only half my salad and my entree arrived. I find that so irritating because I have to eat the entree so it doesn't get cold, but I really wanted to enjoy my salad. The cannelloni's were very good, but weren't very hot which is another pet peeve of mine. I like hot food. Atmosphere- The restaurant is located two blocks off of Broadway near the Dolly Parton hotel. The place is nicely decorated and is on the small side. Service - our server, and service in general, was attentive and pleasant. Food - as we approached the restaurant from the back entrance there were signs promoting the pizza and we were a bit concerned that the entrees would not be the quality that we were expecting. However, we were very pleased with our meal. I ordered a caprese salad and the lasagna with a side of meatballs. The salad was very good and was a generous portion. I ordered the lasagna with meat sauce and there was ample meat in the sauce, which made the side of meatballs unnecessary. In fact the meatballs were a little disappointing. The was plenty of ricotta and mozzarella cheese and the sauce was very good. Overall - The prices are very reasonable and the food was very good. On a Sunday night, our group of 10 were looking for a nice dinner in downtown Nashville. We were walking toward a burger joint when my wife and her friend spotted Villa Castrioti. We walked in and they told us they would open up the room in the back for us. This Italian restaurant was just what we were looking for. We started off with a couple of bottles of Chianti. Disappointed that I did not have the appetite this place deserved me to have!! Their marinara is so fresh and perfectly spiced. I could have stopped at the garlic bread and salad and have been happy. The spaghetti was perfectly al dente but the highlight of my meal was the tender, fall apart, really delicious meatballs that I will dream about and long for. Their expresso martini was served ice cold. The balance was off on it. I wasn't a fan. Service was good but getting the check at the end took too long because the bartender-also the server was busy making cocktails it got really busy at the tail end of our meal/stay. If I could give this restaurant a zero I would just on the quality of food. Our waiter, Ben, was very attentive, very professional, and all in general very good. However, now is where the problem arises....quality of food One person at our table had to send their entry back because it was incredibly salty. Another person had ordered a pasta cannelloni dish. It came but surprise, surprise it was cold! It was sent back to be "heated". Upon return when the person began to cut into the pasta noodle it was discovered it wasn't a cannelloni noodle it was a four tortilla wrap (both cannellonis were disguised to look like noodles but weren't). Made a last-minute reservation based off their reviews was very pleased with the food and the service. Write a four out of five because of the fried green tomatoes didn't have much taste, and the spaghetti with oil and garlic was a little lackluster as well. I'm not a fan of shaker Parmesan cheese so most restaurants get a demotion in points due to that. read more

I was celebrating my birthday with some friends and picked this place on a whim. It was absolutely delicious. We came on a Thursday night and the crowd was very light. They had live music that was just the right volume and super talented (they played The Chicken which is one of my favorite funk tunes). For apps, we ordered the meatballs, bread, and roasted red peppers - all delicious. Keep in mind the roasted red peppers are served cold. For the entree I had the Chicken Francese which was absolutely delicious, creamy, and filling. My side was the mushroom risotto, which compared with some of the chef-run restaurants I've been to. For dessert, I had the best Tiramisu I've had yet. I'm really sad that this place was so empty - it's absolutely delicious, and our group is already looking for an excuse to return. read more
