Hands down my favorite dining experience in Nashville so far! After trying seven different spots around the city, Marsh House has set the bar. The shrimp and grits were absolutely phenomenal--the shrimp were large, incredibly flavorful, and cooked to perfection, paired with the most perfectly savory grits I've ever had. The biscuits with jam were another highlight; at two for $6, they are rich, filling, and delicious. My coworkers were equally impressed with their meals, highly praising both the omelet and the Southern Breakfast We opted to sit outside on the patio, which was perfect for people-watching. The large canopy shades kept us completely comfortable and out of the direct sun. To top it off, our server was attentive, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. They have a great happy hour for oysters. Giving it a 3 star because of the service. We were just being completed ignored and it was getting really awkward and frustrating. We arrived at around 6:45pm and knew exactly what we wanted and ordered right away. everyone's drink came out at the Same time but mine came out with a literal bug in it. Complained and they said they would fix it. Then the oysters came out and we gobbled them all because they were so good and it's not hard to eat oysters. My drink? Didn't come out till 7:05pm when happy hour was over after getting other people involved asking about it multiple times, not just to the server. Then all of a sudden another one came out and they said here they accidentally made another one because I guess someone had put another one in while we were waiting so we just had to chug that one too. Didn't seem super responsible to be honest but at least I had other people to share it with. Would have rather just had it taken off the bill completely rather than then trying to just give us free drinks when we were already trying to leave. Overall seemed to be a bit disorganized and couldn't even leave until around 7:30pm because no one would come by and give us our check. We were late for our next commitment which sucked. Marsh House was such a great experience overall. The North Beach rigatoni was absolutely incredible and easily the standout of the night. We also started with the smoked fish dip and the salmon tartare and both were fantastic. We did not love the drinks we initially ordered, but our server handled it so kindly and professionally. They removed them from the bill without hesitation and even brought us chambongs, which totally turned the moment around and made the night fun. That level of hospitality really stood out. Once again Marsh House goes above and beyond! I had tickets to a crawfish fest and they were there doing char grilled oysters- they sold out by the time i made it to the front of the line but!! Still the most underrated breakfast in Nashville. Cinnamon roll is best in the city, easily. It comes out hot every time and remains hot through its infinite layers of cinni roll your whole meal. The flavor is exceptional; a balanced cinnamon, with notes of caramelized sugar, & a hint of orange. It doesn't overwhelm, you don't get tired of it, not too rich. But boy, it performs. Flawless. The creole omelette... Flavor pops with a perfect amount of crawfish and seafood flavors inside. The creole seasonings are delicious and transform the side of potatoes from solid to exceptional. It's hard to beat their simple side of just 2 scrambled buttery eggs, but the creole omelette is 10/10. Patio is still one of the best in the gulch. And service really delivered! read more

There's an option to sit outside, but I chose a cozy spot inside by the window where the sun was shining in perfectly. It made the whole brunch feel so warm and inviting. The bartender made me one of the best French 75s I've ever had -- perfectly balanced and refreshing. For food, I ordered the Blackened Fish Sandwich, and wow... highly recommend! It was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I added a side of scrambled eggs with cheese, and honestly, they might be the best I've ever had at a restaurant -- creamy and seasoned just right. My absolute favorite, though, was the Gravlax Tartine -- house-cured salmon with dill caper cream cheese, alfalfa sprouts, shallots, fried capers, and Dozen sourdough. It was incredible! Tucked inside our hotel, just to the left of check-in was a cast iron cinnamon roll that changed my life. I didn't even k is it was there for two whole days and we could have spent more breakfasts here ... I love the gooey center of a cinnamon roll and this majestic bun was entirely the irresistible center- oozing with frosting that was just the right amount of sweet. Marsh House is in the Thompson Hotel in The Gulch neighborhood in Nashville, and their brunch was incredible. Eli was our bartender, and he made our experience even better than the delicious food that was served. Perfect, fun service. Thanks, Eli! Fun environment with some hotel guests, party folks, and couples at the bar. The dining room looked very nice, although we sat in the bar area. The wife had the Medieval Barber for a drink and loved it. We got the salmon tartar as an appetizer, and it was delicious, along with a fantastic presentation. Wife got the shrimp and grits, and I got one of the better omelettes that I have ever had (I added ham to the cheese-y-ness magic). Hope you go there, and hope Eli is your tender. Marsh House has a great happy hour! I always opt for their oyesters. They are always fresh and always pair well with a glass of white wine. I've always made a reservation here just to be safe, but its never been fully packed on a week day when ive gone. There is outdoor and indoor seating. Inside there is more casual, on the couch, yet nice seating. There is seating at the bar, and of course regular tables inside. Outdoor seating is the classic table by 12th ave. I got the skirt steak as my meal. Man it was good. I mean, you could tell it was coated in butter but that chimichuri sauce. Cmon this is so good. The hostess and waiters have always been super nice and chill. I've never sat at the bar but the bartender seems like a fun time as well. read more

This is a staple in my Nashville dining circuit. It's so good. The happy hour menu is the best in Nashville in my opinion- you can't beat the $1.50 oysters, and they rotate out small bites so there's always something yummy and interesting for a great deal. My husband and I first dined at The Marsh House on our very first date three years ago, so it holds a special spot in my heart. While I don't recall what I had on that first visit, this time we arrived early enough to take advantage of their happy hour, which was fantastic. We started with fresh oysters for $1.50 each, followed by the Good Samaritan cocktail ($10), which was similar to a whiskey sour--smooth and refreshing. The Thai beef skewer ($8) had a perfect balance of flavor and spice, making it a great appetizer. For my main course, I had a cup of gumbo, which was delicious, while my husband ordered the hanger steak cooked medium rare. It was done to perfection! To finish the meal, we had their bread pudding, which was absolutely out of this world. The dessert was generously provided on the house, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. Our waitress was amazing, offering excellent recommendations that enhanced our experience. For parking, there are several options: paid street parking, a garage, or valet for $8 plus tip. Right off the bat, know that Marsh House's lunch and dinner menus are different and that the menu changes seasonally. I was disappointed at first because the squid ink pasta is what got my wife in the door, but it was not available. That being said, Marsh House has some of the most delicious and unique offerings that we could ever want. We stuck around for lunch since our table at Milk and Honey would be a long wait. I'm very glad we did, because the food was delicious. My wife had shrimp with a celery root slaw so crisp and delicious that she's spent weeks trying to replicate it ever since. We returned a couple of days later for dinner service. I wondered how any restaurant could justify a $12 pea soup, but now I dream of eating it again. My wife's oyster appetizer looked great to me, and oyster hater, and they did not last long after serving. She had the lobster pasta for her entree while I had a skirt steak (or maybe it was a flank) served with lightly charred broccolini and a delicious croquette. If I ever make my way back to Nashville, Marsh House will be one of the first restaurants to take my money. I honestly cannot recommend it enough. read more

For my birthday I visited Nashville and I heard such great things about Marsh House. So I decided to check it out myself . We made reservations and we were seated right away . We were just in time for the happy hour , and I am so glad that we did. Our waitress was extremely nice she was able to answer all our questions and explain the menu to us in detail . The oysters were so good . We also got the jumbo soup which was nice and hot . Also , since it was my birthday I was able to have their chocolate cake with ice cream . It was also amazing and I finished every bite. Marsh House is a restaurant where you can celebrate any type of event . The music wasn't to loud you can hear the person or people you went with . They have delicious seafood with other options (steaks, fried chicken, salads) and a great deal on oysters. Marsh House was modern and trendy. They have a great happy hour that ends promptly at 7 as we learned. We were a little disappointed in the service on this as we were seated by 6:55, asked to order off the happy hour menu, told that our server would be right with us, and when we put in our order our server informed us that it was 7:01 and that we missed happy hour despite our request to order earlier. She kept checking in on us and recommended the best meals we had on our trip to Nashville. I ordered the Lobster Diavolo and it was the perfect combination of spicy and savory. My friends had just got married the day before and were staying at the Thompson Hotel. Before they departed the city and the rest of the bridal party we decided to have a last minute brunch. Marsh house seemed to be the most convenient option to say the least..... Each and every staff member here was so accommodating considering it was 21/22 of us. They initially gave us the outdoor patio area, but the sun got the best of us and the umbrellas didn't seem to provide as much shade. We conversed with j believe maybe the manager who then accommodated us and set us up in an area on the inside. What a relief! Service was prompt. The atmosphere is very laid back, but classy/semi upscale. It's a vibrant spot and a place I had been wanting to try, so this was perfect. Food was good. Only complaint was that the biscuit seemed somewhat dry and not as fresh. It wasn't warm when brought out same for the cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was good, but the cream cheese icing was warm but not the cinnamon roll underneath. The omelette was phenomenal with the perfect amount of crispy bacon and cheese on the inside. The waffle was semi-vegan approved by the lovely newlyweds. We really had a great time! I couldn't recommend this place enough for just how accommodating they were. We arrived to eat at 1:00pm (I suggest an earlier reservation) and missed out of several items on the menu, such as the cinnamon rolls and the crab oysters. The biscuit is made in house and it had a biscuit-croissant consistency--5/5. The gumbo (not pictured) was had a slightly different base taster, which reminded me of ketchup/tomatoey, but very enjoyable. Not your New Orleans gumbo, but yummy. The maple chicken and waffles was slappin'! I'm not a huge waffle person, so I was more impressed with the chicken. The skin was fried hard and crispy and seasoned very well--5/5. My friend and I were recommended to visit Marsh House for their dessert, so we decided to try the Bread Pudding. It came with butter pecan ice cream, bay leaf bourbon caramel, and candied pecans. While the flavors were good, nothing really stood out. We both found it to be overwhelmingly cinnamon-heavy, which overpowered the other ingredients. And when I asked for a recommendation between two food items, they gave a good description of the shrimp toast, and it did not disappoint. I am always thirsty after travel, and they kept my water glass full all night without me asking one time! I decided to stay for dessert, and again asked about anything with chocolate, and their description of the chocolate tart with sesame crisps and tajin whipped cream was spot-on! It was a unique way to drink it but I would not actively choose to drink one like this again the future because I ended spilling a good bit on the table trying to figure out how to drink it. For food, I had shrimp toast and whipped feta. The shrimp toast was not at all what I was expecting but was very good! It was similar to a sweet Thai chili shrimp but on crispy toast instead of individual shrimp. It was very enjoyable. The whipped feta was also really good with a slight sweetness to the sauce that made it delicious. I had such a lovely dining experience here for a friend's birthday dinner. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was wonderful and all the food was delicious. We ordered a round of chambongs for the table, which were fun but then we all quickly transitioned to traditional cocktails or glasses that were easier to hold haha. I had the broiled oysters to start they were very tasty. If not for the price, I would have ordered another round because they were so good. For mains, the table ordered the hanger steak, octopus (which was sent back without issue), and gumbo. I asked our server for a recommendation and she said I should order the Arctic Char en Papillote, which was a white fish dish. I was probably this best dish I'd eaten during my whole 4 day trip to Nashville. So, so good, and filling. We closed out dinner with desserts to share. I loved olive oil cake, so I ordered the Orange Crush and swapped out the orange sorbet for honey ice cream. I wanted something light without the tartness of orange, so this was perfect. I would definitely recommend this placed for a cute date night or special occasion. People were dressed in both casual and chic, so it did't seem like the kind of place you need to get dolled up for unless your want to. Our reservation was at 8:30 on a Friday night and we essentially were there until they closed because we were having such a good time. The ambiance was chic & posh, without being too romantic which I enjoy. My biggest like factor is that they were able to accommodate my party of 14 (FOURTEEN!) without any hesitation!
