Etch is one of those restaurants that comes with a lot of expectations. It's very highly rated, the menu is creative, and after reading the reviews, we walked in expecting a meal that was going to knock our socks off. Instead, we spent a fair amount of time looking at the menu trying to figure out what actually appealed to us. And when the food arrived, I started to understand why. The food was good. There's no question about that. We enjoyed the chicken, but even there, I found myself thinking that there was just a little too much going on. A little more sauce. Another ingredient. A garnish. Something else for texture. Then something else for contrast. At some point, I start wondering if the chef is trying to make dinner or win a culinary scavenger hunt. I prefer my elegance with a little less. Sometimes the best way to elevate a great ingredient is to give it a little room to breathe. The menu felt somewhat limited, and the food didn't quite live up to the very high expectations created by the restaurant's reviews. Everything we had was good, but I didn't walk away thinking it was as exceptional as I had anticipated. Overall, four stars. Etch is clearly a talented kitchen with a lot of creativity. I just think they may be trying a little too hard. Sometimes less really is more, especially when the ingredients are good enough to stand on their own.
I knew etch would be a fantastic experience based on my research of the cocktails and dinner selections. I arrived early to have a proper cocktail at the bar. From my bar stool, I can see the bar is well stocked with bourbons and whiskeys. I started with the Etch Smoked Old Fashioned: Belle Meade bourbon, smoked simple syrup, orange and a dash of bitters started off my night. The bar is busy with people, all seats are taken. The couple sitting next to me are going to see Bruno Mars, it seems like a nice night to start with a fabulous dinner. I came early to have a drink before my reservation. I feel a tap on my shoulder and there are two women asking for the happy hour drink menu. I offer my seat and they're thanking me and asking to pay for my drink? Everyone is very hospitable in Nashville! I tell the hostess I'm ready to sit and I'm seated at the large chefs counter. It's very smart to have this type of seating, it saves the tables for larger parties, there's no reason for lil ol me to take up a table with four seats. My waitress comes over and I studied the menu before I arrived. I'm starting with the Smoked Carpaccio (think of roast beef strips) Made with New York Strip steak and topped with pickled onion & herb relish, fried garlic chips, lemon almond salt and parmesan. This was an award winning starter dish. The steak strips were very flavorful and the crostini points, I ate this dish like little open faced sandwiches. This would be a great dish to share with a larger party. For my main entree, I ordered the Grilled Filet. The meat was cooked perfectly! On the side the dish was served with parmesan lemon whipped potatoes, and topped with a smoked bone marrow butter as well as asparagus spears. The smoked bone marrow was like pocket aces, a nice touch that elevated the dish. While in Nashville, I highly recommend making a reservation at etch.
We dropped in for lunch. We did have reservations and were seated quickly. The service was fantastic, our server was great. The vibe was relaxed and elegant. The food was so good. Each dish was better than the previous dish.
This is a beautiful, somewhat fancy and a little pretentious restaurant. I chose this as a good option in walking distance from the Hilton where I could sit at the bar as a solo diner and enjoy a good expense meal. This hit that mark. The bartender was very nice and the right level of chatty. I chose the pork Osso Bucca and a makers mark and coke. The dish is plated beautifully and the meat is really tender and it was filling. There are a number of small bones (think riblets) that you have to watch out for. It was very flavorful, served à la carte and because I didn't get a side, it felt like it was missing something as an overall meal. On me, but for the prices, it feels like it should come with whatever best complements the dish. I ended with a strawberry sorbet that comes with some granola. It was perfectly fine, but definitely not special. Overall a very solid meal ($85) that is great for vacation or work.
My husband and I took our son to celebrate his birthday and his graduation from the Sheriff's Department Academy. We could never have found a better place for a celebration!! The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive, the atmosphere is classy without being stuffy and the food is out of this world!! We started with the octopus and shrimp bruschetta, which was excellent! My son had the Venison which he said was absolutely delicious. My husband and I shared the pan seared salmon and fried Brussels sprouts. As a birthday treat, they brought out a dish of house made French vanilla ice cream which had a house made granola underneath and a thin strip of chocolate on top. Everything was absolutely perfe

Etch brought me the best dining experience of my life back in May! I came here for my graduation dinner and from start to finish was beyond pleased. The staff here are welcoming and made my occasion feel special. Our waitress, Jessie, was very knowledgeable about the menu and always kept our waters full! The narrow space of the restaurant gives it a warm, intimate feel. It is fun also to be able to see the chefs working as the kitchen is somewhat open. Everything we ate was FANTASTIC, but to list a few things that stood out: pea purée in the cauliflower appetizer, brussel sprouts, salmon dish, pork dish, homemade ice cream (fabulous!!!), and pavlova dessert. I would come here again & again and couldn't recommend it enough for someone looking for an excellent meal and experience.
AMAZING! The food is fantastic!! The menu had a really nice variety, and everything we ordered tasted fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared -- the combination of flavors was incredible. The service was great as well. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations when we weren't sure what to order. The inside was clean, however, isn't as lavish as some of the other restaurants we went to, and it was fairly loud at the start of our dinner, but the food and service made up for those things. We left wishing we would be able to come back again -- and that says a lot! Not pictured: roasted cauliflower appetizer -- also highly recommend
We came here for lunch one during during our road trip to Nashville. We were doing the tourist thing, identified this place for lunch, and came here as a little break from the giant and wonderful Country Music Hall of Fame Museum. We got there right as it opened. We had reservations, but we didn't need them. We got seated promptly, and had the full, undivided attention of our server. Service was very nice. We had a nice one, and the food came out promptly. The only hiccup was that the literal top two items we wanted to order were unavailable at the time. Major bummer. Ambiance inside was very nice. Upscale, everything was nice and dark, the seating was nice and plush, and the big open kitchen concept was very modern and fun. We got seated right by the huge windows that gave a view into the beautiful downtown area. As for food, like I said, they were out of stuff, which stank, and I would have dropped the rating to four stars, but the substitutes we found were actually excellent, and brought that rating back up to five stars. We started off with the Grilled Flatbread (tomato eggplant caponata, caramelized onions, confit shiitakes, fava beans, arugula, cucumber, preserved lemon vinaigrette, mint, mozzarella). Wow! Best flatbread I've had in a Long time. It was of a proper size, the crust was nice and crispy and held up the toppings nicely. The toppings were amazing. Very indulgent and savory, and then very fresh and crisp on top. Perfect amount of toppings, and perfect topping distribution. A good start to the meal. I had the Chicken Parmesan Caesar Hoagie (panko fried chicken, parmesan, monterey jack, tomato gravy, roma crunch lettuce, caesar dressing, house-made chips) for the main. Those chips. They were wonderful. A good thickness, cooked to a nice color, and salted well. The sandwich was even more wonderful. Crispy, thick chicken cutlet, slathered with the traditional flavors with the cheese and the tomato gravy. On a nice thin bread that didn't get in the way and make the sandwich too unwieldy. Very good. I also got to try the Argentinian Beef Tenderloin (fried potato salad, creole mustard aioli, verde, roja, zucchini, carrot, arugula, pepperoncini vinaigrette). This is where the best thing I ate was. That fried potato salad. I have never seen anything like it, not even close. And I accept that I may never see anything like it again. Creamy, crispy, potatoey, I still can't believe how good this was. If you love potatoes, get whatever it takes to get this side. Trust me. Overall, a pleasant surprises all around! Lucked out with a last minute 6:15PM reservation. We arrived today from the east coast time zone, so this was perfect timing. We stopped in around 5:30 PM for happy hour which is only at the bar. The cocktail is the bartender's choice and today that was a pomegranate lemon drop. It was the perfect blend of sour with a sugar rim that gave it a nice sweetness. Our reservation was at the chef's table, which is overlooking the kitchen. Perfect if you're dining alone or want what amounts to dinner and pretending you're on any of the popular cooking shows on TV. I started with that edge salad and then got the salmon for my entrée. The edge salad was a nice blend of creamy blue cheese chunks and a citrus tang with arugula and radicchio. What a great way to get your veggies! The chef recommends the salmon be cooked to medium, which was fine with me. It came on a sweet potato beignet with an orange citrus glaze and a reduced soy drizzle. It was phenomenal with the flavors being balanced and the textures on point. For dessert, we split the matcha pavlova with a mascarpone cream, perfectly ripe sliced strawberries, a scoop of strawberry sorbet and yuzu gel. My husband got the chef's special which was an elevated "fish and chips" -halibut with potato wedges and spring peas. My bite of this was delicious and from my vantage point I could see that this was the most popular entree coming out of the kitchen tonight. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation here!
I always love a good farm to table restaurant, and Etch delivered on some tasty & healthy dishes. We came here for a business lunch and I loved how the menu carried multiple dishes with veggies. After a few days in Nashville, veggies were a must! The roasted cauliflower was generously portioned and paired well with all 3 sauces. I ordered the salmon & roasted kale salad, which was like a Japanese-influenced dish. All of the flavors worked really well together, and the sauces were tasty. Others who ordered the wasabi salmon also mentioned that it was excellent. Service is really friendly & attentive. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept.
Pros: Beautiful ambiance in the middle of tourist town Nashville. Great big windows with a nice view of the downtown area. A short walk from the Country Music Museum we were in the middle of exploring. Service was great. We arrived when they first opened, so we got the server's sole attention for quite a while. And the food came out very timely. Food was amazing. The apps were good, the mains were good, and the portion sizes were incredible. Almost too big for a lunch portion. Just really stunning food. Cons: The first two entrees I had in mind, they were out of, so that was a major bummer. Just be wary. Maybe call ahead. Tips: The flatbread app was amazing. Better than most flatbreads I have ever had. And I swear, if you see a meal with fried potato salad in it, you NEED to get that. That potato salad was one of the most insane things I've ever had. I will never forget it.
First of all, our server Joseph was a gem. Great personality, super attentive, and he knew the menu like the back of his hand--which was perfect because my husband and I can be very picky. My husband went with one of the chef's shrimp creations and didn't leave a single bite behind. Meanwhile, I decided to be adventurous and ordered the venison with all the extras--chickpea feta filo, olive tapenade, mint relish, duck fat pearl onions...just a whole experience. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Now let's talk about the crispy potato salad. I know what you're thinking--"potato salad?" But trust me, this is not your average cookout side. It's served warm with chimichurri verde and some kind of magical sauce, and it honestly deserves its own spotlight moment. If you're in Nashville, do yourself a favor and go. You won't regret it. And if you get Joseph as your server? Even better. Already planning my next visit... I just know a Michelin star is calling!

Honestly the best meal we had while visiting Nashville. We enjoyed every course and our drinks. Waitress was suburb. We arrived early and staff accommodated that as well. We also left our bag from shopping under the table and it was closing when we left. We called and an employee met us at the door with it. We had Smoked Carpaccio to start (no pic) and an amazing arugal salad (no pic). Espresso martini and the spritz w rum added. We then had the venison, filet and butternut sqaush. The mashed potatoes with the filet were like butter, so good. read more

Good food, excellent service, and a wonderful night out. We had the salmon and the filet--both cooked perfectly to our liking, with seasoning that was nicely balanced. We also tried the scallop and octopus bruschetta. While interesting, it was a bit salty and fishy for our taste. The homemade chocolate crunch ice cream was absolutely delicious--I could have eaten more! But by then, with our wine and meal, we had more than enough for a happy and lovely evening. Jessie was our star server and took great care of us, always attentive to what we needed. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a special date night or celebration. It is on the higher price side, but worth it for the experience. Happy eating! read more

Upon entering, the atmosphere including the dim lighting and the piano music was perfect. The aromas when you first walk in let's one know you are in for a treat. Our waiter was in a good mood, very pleasant. The cauliflower lived up to the hype, boosted by the purées that accompanied it (pea, pepper and whipped feta. The brussel sprouts were the best I have ever had. The venison was cooked perfectly- medium rare and was tender, tasteful and well seasoned. read more
I don't get it. Place was average at best. Cauliflower (which they're allegedly known for) was bland and unremarkable. Steaks were average or less. Swordfish special was dry. At $350 for 4 ppl, I could have had a much better meal other places at half the price. Avoid. Our waitress however, was solid. read more

Etch is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in the city! I've never had a bad meal here, and the service is always top notch. My go-to is the scallops! You can't go wrong with the cauliflower or Brussels sprouts either. The cocktail menu is always creative and delicious. I appreciate the free valet parking. It's also within walking distance of Bridgestone, making it a great spot to grab dinner before a concert. read more

We ate at Etch on November 3, 2025, and had a great experience. We started with cocktails, and my classic Manhattan was prepared perfectly. For my meal I enjoyed the horseradish Caesar and the venison--each were well-executed and beautifully presented. I forgot to get a photo of the dining room, but I really liked the layout. From our seat, we had a clear view of the open kitchen and nearby tables, so we could watch the lively dinner rush. It added a fun energy to the meal. Service was well-paced and was not rushed at all and the team supporting our server kept everything moving smoothly. We'll definitely return the next time we're in Nashville. read more

Etch delivers when it comes to flavor and presentation. Every dish we tried was thoughtful and beautifully executed. The scallops were seared perfectly with a velvety sauce that pulled everything together. The Caesar salad had its own standout flair and the bread service was a warm and elevated touch. The highlight was the restaurant's attention to allergens. They took dietary restrictions seriously and it showed. I felt completely at ease and taken care of in that regard. Service was friendly and welcoming but the timing missed the mark. We were not checked on as often as expected and it was hard to flag someone down for another cocktail. For a place operating at this level it felt like a small but noticeable gap. Still absolutely worth visiting if you are in Nashville. Just be proactive if you want a second drink. read more

Amazing quality of food. You can see the thoughtfulness of each dish with complex flavor profile. I was really pleased- exceeded my expectation. Had a lovely dinner at Etch. It was pretty busy (very lively) on a Thursday evening. The ambiance was nice. I had the Frenched chicken breast and it was great- perfectly cooked. Wish I had room for dessert but it was pretty late and I had an early morning the next day. Maybe next time! read more
Outstanding meal, LOVED sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen work right in front of us. Service was excellent and they went the extra few miles signing a card to commemorate the anniversary I was celebrating with my date. The dessert also had a bit of chocolate saying Happy Anniversary as well. All of our food was delicious and satisfying. My favorite was the trio de setas as it was the only vegetarian entree- it was quite salty but I really enjoyed that. The assortment of textures and flavors was amazing. They took the time to walk us through the menu, offered spot-on wine pairings, and truly listened to the preferences at our table--which made all the difference. This spot came highly recommended from my hotel so I walked over. It was a nice quick walk without incidence. It was busy as happy hourwas in full swing and they were fully booked. I found a spot at the bar and waited about 5 minutes to be acknowledged. Finally one of the bar keeps asked what I'd like to drink and if I had a chance to review the menus. I ordered and asked for his thoughts on the appetizers. He recommended the duck, which was what someone at the hotel had also recommended. I got that plus steak, potatoes, and the crispy potato salad. The duck stole the show. It was so good. I loved how the crust was warm and buttery while the duck was juicy with great flavoring. The bar area was busy and loud while I noticed quieter seating back in the restaurant. There were a couple big groups that came in for dinner. I did not see one when we were there. This is a high end restaurant.
Is this a great place to celebrate bachelorette party?
Etch is great for groups large and small. It is first class, and upscale. The food is outstanding and the drinks are unique and delicious. I see no reason why any bachelorette party at Etch would be anything but spectacular.
Can you work from the bar? Read something about bar being a chefs table, here for work and would like to get a bit done while im waiting for my food.
Our chef's bar is typically utilized for dine-in seating, but we do have a full bar located at the front of the restaurant with seats available for guests picking up takeout orders.

It is the counter by the chef's bar. Have set there myself and had a wonderful time and great cuisine.
How dressy is Etch?
I would say nice casual to business casual. I absolutely loved my meal at Etch. Went by myself while in Nashville on business and sat at the chef's table. The food was not only artistic in presentation but so flavorful. I highly recommend!
Can items on the menu be done without dairy?
We can provide a few items dairy-free! The Etch and Kale Salad can be made without cheese, the Vegetarian Katafi entree and Roasted Cauliflower can also be made dairy-free. Just let your server know at the time of ordering if you have any allergies…
Is there a dress code?
Yes, business causal. My husband wore slacks and I wore dress pants.
