Everything was good! Fried chicken, pancakes were amazing, steak and eggs, biscuit and gravy. Very southern breakfast and just what we needed today. We lucked out with cma crowds being downtown and did not have a wait at 10:30am on Sunday. We were sat upstairs. I didn't know they had the extra space. Great service read more

We visited this restaurant with a large group and they were so kind to accommodate a party our size with such short notice. We went during brunch hour at that, so needless to say they were very crowded. However, they had an exclusive space for us upstair. The service was great! When we came in they immediately started providing us with beverages and taking our food orders. They had a huge variety for us to choose from. I had the fish and pancakes with a side of fresh fruit and I throughly enjoyed it! I also had the chance to taste the steak and eggs...delicious! Our breakfast was WONDERFUL!! Our server, she was spectacular! I ordered the "coastal" I asked for soft scrambled eggs with the sun dried tomatoes & artichokes. It arrived with perfectly seasoned potatoes. HH (hungry hubby) had the Classic (?) it had scrambled eggs , bacon, seasoned potatoes & a biscuit with yummy housemade jam. Now you can go for the breakfast...lunch ... or just the bar later in the day... but you HAVE to go for the HISTORY! (If that interests you) The downstairs area has the most amazing collection of WW2 memorabilia! I just ate it up! Upstairs has amazing Civil War memorabilia! I could stay there for HOURS just for the memorabilia. We will be back!!! read more

Woke up on a Sunday morning in Nashville with a few hours left before having to head to the airport. This place was walking distance from my hotel in Downtown. It was the perfect choice. I sat at the bar with my water and black coffee which was good and strong. I ordered one of their traditional breakfast plates, the roasted pot roast. Very good! The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. If you're in the downtown Nashville area, stop by and see this quaint little place. read more

Good service. Felt a bit rushed to order, but overall happy with my food. I didn't like the eggs at all, not much of an egg person anyways but the texture felt like it wasn't cooked right. We stayed in Nashville for 3 nights and stumbled on this place. The gentleman out front (we later leaned his name as Jackie) highly recommended. We are so grateful we listened. We ate here all 3 mornings. The staff were so lovely and the food was amazing. The fried pork chops were so delicious. The biscuits were so light and scrumptious with their homemade mixed berry jam. Highly recommend. 5 stars for all food, service and the ambiance is like your quintessential small town family own restaurant. read more

Amazing breakfast! Preferred the crispy chicken breakfast..... not this was a first for me. I've never had chicken for breakfast before. And I am afraid I will never have it again because the bar was set so HIGH here, I think all other places will let me down. The crispy chicken was so tender and covered in delicious gravy. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I ordered a side of bacon with zero regrets there. The biscuit was perfect with a wonderful berry jam. The table split the lemon blueberry pancakes for an appetizer and that was also amazing. So good! read more

Came right in got seated and Ian is our server. He is friendly and knowledgeable and very attentive. The restaurant has so much history for World War I and the Civil War. Nice ambiance . The food is great and very filling. Try it out you won't be disappointed. read more

I have been trying for so long to come and get a taste of 417. I finally did just that! Do recommend getting there rather early for the sake of the wait time. They DO NOT accept reservations. We went around 9:50am on a Sunday and had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated. As the morning went on wait times were a little longer. Prepare accordingly. Service is prompt and food came out fresh!! We ordered.. Crispy chicken pancake combo 5/5 Pancake combo 5/5 Banana Foster 5/5 Bloody Mary 3/5- they over did it on the amount of pepper in it. Pancakes are super fluffy and a decent size. You'll most likely have leftovers. Their portion sizes are decent and enough for prob two if you don't have a big appetite. Food was amazing! Found this place across from our hotel for brunch, and the atmosphere and food and drinks were the best!! We sat at the bar, and the service was excellent!! Morgan, our bartender, was the best!! So sweet and made the best drinks. We had Tito's with OJ and cranberry juice. They are also voted the best, bloody Mary! It was awesome!! The food was so good! We ordered the big country breakfast and split it. It was perfect! 3 eggs, 2 biscuits, sausage, ham, bacon, and homestyle potatoes!! The homemade jam was to die for!! The gravy was good, too! So this was recommended as a trendy high end brunch spot. Ambiance is not at all high end. Very laid back if not rustic with lots of locals. Service from Harrison was great; fast and friendly. Food was okay. Lots of it on the Anthony's favorite and the eggs were perfect over medium with a delicious flaky biscuit. The potatoes had good flavor as did the gravy and bacon. But the sausage was meh and sadly the food came out lukewarm. Probably would not go back. :( read more

I truly wish that I had better things to say about the FOOD at 417 Union. So let me start with everything else. 417 Union is a charming blast from the past. The outer building and the contents within are rife with aged brick and remnants of a time long gone. A history lesson not soon to be forgotten. The restaurant itself is full of back rooms, and is a multi-storied-once-functioning, mansion waiting to tell a story. History lines the walls and I'm here for all of it. However, the food was boring and bland and left a lot to be desired. It seems that they are leaning on the history of the building to replace flavor and invention in its food and it's sad. Hubby had Anthony's favorite, which consisted of two eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, gravy and biscuit. He said nothing tasted special but the bacon and gravy was good. I had a bloody Mary and that was good. I had the Breakfast Sandwich, minus the herb mayo and cheese and it was just ok. It didn't have any seasoning and had zero pizzazz. The bread wasn't conducive for a warm sandwich, and there was nothing that made it something greater than what I cook at home everyday. I want to like the food here because of the building, history and nostalgia but in my opinion, this is just a poor place to eat with a museum like atmosphere. Sorry. read more

The Pancake Pantry across from our hotel had a long line and I had bookmarked 417 Union so off we went and I am glad we did! Small place, honoring war heroes. Excellent food! The breakfast sandwich had great flavor and I liked that the bun didn't get soggy with the fried eggs so you could actually eat it as a sandwich (but you do need a few napkins ). Hubby had pancakes and they were huge and fluffy. Would highly recommend this place for breakfast!! read more

Exactly what you'd expect from an old fashioned diner type spot. Their menu consistent or some staples: country side potatoes, eggs, ham, bacon, pancakes, etc. I got the pancake combo and my husband got the anthony's special. The cons: sausage was burnt at the bottom, potatoes were inconsistent (half were undercooked) and lacked salt/seasoning Pros: asked for eggs over medium and they were cooked perfectly. Pancakes were tasty and fluffy - the best part of the meal for sure. Service was quick and even though they were busy we only had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Lastly, we enjoyed a good ol' cup of diner coffee. Personally I probably wouldn't come back again but if you like a quick in and out experience near broadway it ain't that bad. read more

My friend who is a Nashville resident had been wanting to come here for some time for breakfast, so we went on my last day in town. Overall, I really loved the decor and the atmosphere of this place. The old wartime photos and posters added to the buildings aesthetic. We waited about 1 hour and once seated, we probably waited about 20 min in total to get our orders taken. The waitress did forget my coffee a few times but ended up taking it off of my bill as an apology for making us wait so long. The food (I got one of the breakfast platters) was delicious, however the ham was incredibly salty. I couldn't tell if it was just my palette or if it really was super salty but there was enough food that I didn't even really need the ham. I'd definitely recommend going here and trying the food if you have time to wait read more

This is the kind of breakfast place I wish I had near my home. Delicious. Homemade everything- biscuits to jam. I had a breakfast sandwich with home fries . Home fries were delicious and had grilled onions with them. Biscuits were soft and just out of the oven. Service was prompt and friendly. Coffee kept flowing throughout breakfast so I was super happy. Get here early or expect a little wait for a table. Nice benches outside if you do need to wait a bit. read more

Had some chain breakfast place that was a waste of time. Today we went to 417 Union. It's a small diner but you feel comfortable inside. The food was diner breakfast just done better and bigger! The service was attentive and friendly. The prices were reasonable. Don't go to some upscale fo-fo place (Pink Hermit). 417 is where you need to go! read more

Meat sides were evenly split between Andouille sausage (for a little extra spice) and bacon, while eggs were either poached, scrambled, or over easy. I especially appreciated that my "Poached Hard" request came back spot on. The Pancakes/Waffles/French Toast were all light, tasty and well served by the maple syrup. For our entrees, Jonathan ordered the pork chop, and I had the piri piri chicken. Both came with broccolini and patatas bravas. The portion was much larger than I expected, and the piri piri sauce served on the side was absolutely lick-the-plate good. I found myself dipping the potatoes and broccolini in it because it was just that delicious. Piri piri isn't something you come across often in Nashville, and The Finch absolutely nails it--and at a really reasonable price. Jonathan's pork chop was cooked perfectly with great flavor. It wasn't an over-the-top, show-stopping dish, but for around $30--including both sides--at a more upscale restaurant, it's hard to beat the value. One more recommendation: get the volcano rock shrimp. We had it on a previous visit, and we still talk about it! It's easily one of our favorite dishes we've had here. The Finch has been consistently good every time we've visited, and that's what keeps bringing us back! Great food, great drinks, a fun atmosphere, and solid value for the quality. We'll definitely be back again!
