Went back for our 3rd meal. The pork chop is still a star ! 100% recommend. I loved the breakfast quesadilla get a side of gravy with it. Just highlights all the flavors of the south ! When we come back this will remain a hot spot for us !!!

Our breakfast was WONDERFUL!! Our server, she was spectacular! I ordered the "coastal" I asked for soft scrambled eggs with the sun dried tomatoes & artichokes. It arrived with perfectly seasoned potatoes. HH (hungry hubby) had the Classic (?) it had scrambled eggs , bacon, seasoned potatoes & a biscuit with yummy housemade jam. Now you can go for the breakfast...lunch ... or just the bar later in the day... but you HAVE to go for the HISTORY! (If that interests you) The downstairs area has the most amazing collection of WW2 memorabilia! I just ate it up! Upstairs has amazing Civil War memorabilia! I could stay there for HOURS just for the memorabilia. We will be back!!!

Woke up on a Sunday morning in Nashville with a few hours left before having to head to the airport. This place was walking distance from my hotel in Downtown. It was the perfect choice. I sat at the bar with my water and black coffee which was good and strong. I ordered one of their traditional breakfast plates, the roasted pot roast. Very good! The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. If you're in the downtown Nashville area, stop by and see this quaint little place.

Found this place on Yelp while visiting Nashville with my husband. Absolutely loved everything I had. The lemons blue berry pancake was so fresh and delicious. Breakfast sandwich was amazing!!

We stayed in Nashville for 3 nights and stumbled on this place. The gentleman out front (we later leaned his name as Jackie) highly recommended. We are so grateful we listened. We ate here all 3 mornings. The staff were so lovely and the food was amazing. The fried pork chops were so delicious. The biscuits were so light and scrumptious with their homemade mixed berry jam. Highly recommend. 5 stars for all food, service and the ambiance is like your quintessential small town family own restaurant.

Came right in got seated and Ian is our server. He is friendly and knowledgeable and very attentive. The restaurant has so much history for World War I and the Civil War. Nice ambiance . The food is great and very filling. Try it out you won't be disappointed.

Classic super delicious diner burger! What more can I say! The service was quick and homey, and so was the restaurant itself.

I have been trying for so long to come and get a taste of 417. I finally did just that! Do recommend getting there rather early for the sake of the wait time. They DO NOT accept reservations. We went around 9:50am on a Sunday and had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated. As the morning went on wait times were a little longer. Prepare accordingly. Service is prompt and food came out fresh!! We ordered.. Crispy chicken pancake combo 5/5 Pancake combo 5/5 Banana Foster 5/5 Bloody Mary 3/5- they over did it on the amount of pepper in it. Pancakes are super fluffy and a decent size. You'll most likely have leftovers. Their portion sizes are decent and enough for prob two if you don't have a big appetite. Food was amazing! I'm not sure you could go wrong with anything on this menu. I will be back to try the breakfast quesadillas and fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade.

Good service. Felt a bit rushed to order, but overall happy with my food. I didn't like the eggs at all, not much of an egg person anyways but the texture felt like it wasn't cooked right. The place is nice and cozy, music level was appropriate. The biscuits are the best! Prefers cash payment over cc transactions.

Found this place across from our hotel for brunch, and the atmosphere and food and drinks were the best!! We sat at the bar, and the service was excellent!! Morgan, our bartender, was the best!! So sweet and made the best drinks. We had Tito's with OJ and cranberry juice. They are also voted the best, bloody Mary! It was awesome!! The food was so good! We ordered the big country breakfast and split it. It was perfect! 3 eggs, 2 biscuits, sausage, ham, bacon, and homestyle potatoes!! The homemade jam was to die for!! The gravy was good, too! The restaurant is so cool, the decor and location are awesome! All the staff are friendly and welcoming!!

This is the kind of breakfast place I wish I had near my home. Delicious. Homemade everything- biscuits to jam. I had a breakfast sandwich with home fries . Home fries were delicious and had grilled onions with them. Biscuits were soft and just out of the oven. Service was prompt and friendly. Coffee kept flowing throughout breakfast so I was super happy. Get here early or expect a little wait for a table. Nice benches outside if you do need to wait a bit.

I truly wish that I had better things to say about the FOOD at 417 Union. So let me start with everything else. 417 Union is a charming blast from the past. The outer building and the contents within are rife with aged brick and remnants of a time long gone. A history lesson not soon to be forgotten. The restaurant itself is full of back rooms, and is a multi-storied-once-functioning, mansion waiting to tell a story. History lines the walls and I'm here for all of it. However, the food was boring and bland and left a lot to be desired. It seems that they are leaning on the history of the building to replace flavor and invention in its food and it's sad. Hubby had Anthony's favorite, which consisted of two eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, gravy and biscuit. He said nothing tasted special but the bacon and gravy was good. I had a bloody Mary and that was good. I had the Breakfast Sandwich, minus the herb mayo and cheese and it was just ok. It didn't have any seasoning and had zero pizzazz. The bread wasn't conducive for a warm sandwich, and there was nothing that made it something greater than what I cook at home everyday. I want to like the food here because of the building, history and nostalgia but in my opinion, this is just a poor place to eat with a museum like atmosphere. Sorry.

The Pancake Pantry across from our hotel had a long line and I had bookmarked 417 Union so off we went and I am glad we did! Small place, honoring war heroes. Excellent food! The breakfast sandwich had great flavor and I liked that the bun didn't get soggy with the fried eggs so you could actually eat it as a sandwich (but you do need a few napkins ). Hubby had pancakes and they were huge and fluffy. Would highly recommend this place for breakfast!!

On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

Situated in the heart of Germantown, this modest yet distinguished establishment offers not only fare of exceptional quality, but also the singular pleasure of partaking in a communal table, where strangers are received as companions, an echo of a more gracious and convivial age. The fried chicken is, without exaggeration, among the most excellent in the city, and the portions are notably generous. Each accompanying dish is prepared with the utmost care and discernment, reflecting a commendable attention to detail. Having first dined here upon our arrival in Nashville, it has since secured a place of particular esteem among the establishments we hold in highest regard. It is, beyond question, an experience to which one ought to aspire at least once. I confess a certain satisfaction in knowing that such a venerable tradition continues to flourish in the South.

This place was a wonderful little experience. We were greeted with the sign outside, "Enter as Strangers and Leave as Friends," which is one of my life philosophies. We got there right at opening, so we got seated first along with one of their years-long regulars. A friendly local lady who provided us with pleasant conversation until the next patrons arrived, who were seated right next to us at the same table, family style. Then the next people, then the next. Sitting, talking, passing the food around the table. It was a nice experience. And the ambiance was nice, too. Plain, wooden chairs, white tile flooring, vintage holiday decor, it was like being in a grandma's house. Very comforting. The food came out one or two dishes at a time. Everything was good enough, but it also was apparent that it was mass produced in a catering style. The basics like the bacon and ham were very good, but the fried chicken, I wouldn't take a big piece, save your stomach room for other things. Whatever other things you grab, make sure you grab a biscuit and get ahold of their homemade peach preserves. That stuff was 10/10 excellent. It's so good, they jar it and sell it at the front desk. I totally recommend. Overall, breakfast is one of the most important meal of the day, so if you find yourself in Nashville, I would implore you to come and check out this city staple of over 30 years now.

I was also absolutely blown away by dessert. The pâtissier is such a cheerful, nice, and incredibly talented person. Don't skip dessert. I sat at the bar as I was dining alone. Adam and Kevin were amazing. They knew every single item on the menu pretty much. and when I really think about it.... there were only two items on the menu that really stood out to me so I guess they really did the heavy lifting of the meal with their knowledge of each specific ingredient that I had questions about. I told them that I came directly from Jack Daniel's distillery in Lynchburg and they told me that the pork that they use in the Fried Carolina Gold app and Bear Creek Heritage Pork is raised with the spent grain from Jack Daniel's which I think is pretty cool to up-cycle ingredients. They immediately sold me on those dishes. Everything I got: *Give Up The Ghost (cocktail pls reference pic of menu for ingredients) *Husk Old-Fashioned (cocktail) *Late Embers Sunchoke Liqueur *Ritual Sister Smoked Pineapple Liqueur *Murder Point Oysters on the half shell *Fried Carolina Gold Rice *Bear Creek Heritage Pork *Noble Spring Chereve Mousse Both cocktails that I got were amazingly crafted but I think I go about picking cocktails the wrong way... I tend to see a few ingredients that catch my eye but then when they're not front and center I get a little disappointed? I recall enjoying the give up the ghost but It wasn't jasmine-y or yuzu-ey enough for me. It was probably really well balanced but not entirely memorable. The Husk Old Fashioned was probably a really well crafted old fashioned... maybe the best old fashioned i've ever had, but I think maybe the food just kinda out shined it / stole the spotlight. Both Liqueurs that I tried blew me away... the sunchoke was super interesting and the smoked pineapple was actually really good. Really thankful that I got to try them. The murder point oysters were okay... habanada? Is apparently a habanero bred without the heat. I wished the flavor was a little stronger on that. I guess I probably could have asked for extra sauce but didn't think about it... they probably would have accommodated too. Dang it. I also didn't really feel like the juniper came through. The carolina gold was GOLD. Holy heck, was not expecting the pork belly to be a juicy, silky, smooth, soft as sin piece of pork. It felt like.... Just pure pork fat honestly. But it was heavenly. Like... the most perfectly sous vided piece of fat. Idk if it's just my imagination or if i'm misremembering but the pork itself was cold? While the carolina gold.... Croquette? Not sure what to call it. Was piping hot. The contrast was spectacular. The sweet and spicy from the BBQ sauce and pepper jelly did wonders and idk. It really just hit. I'm not even sure why. Maybe because I wanted to like the dish because of the Jack Daniels connection. Probably because of all the contrasting sensations and textures + the crunch of the deep fried rice. Despite that, I wasn't a big fan of the pork cutlet kinda thing. The base came with some kale pesto and some charred kale... golden beets, topped with a macha salsa and some peanuts. I think that the kale pesto kinda threw off the dish and didn't quite work the way it was envisioned perhaps. The pork itself.... Was leagues below the previous dish. It's hard to imagine it came from the same hog or even same farm? I typically like macha... and don't get me wrong, this sauce was good but perhaps just wasn't feeling it with the pesto. THE DESSERT. I almost passed on this but i'm SO GLAD I DIDN'T. Noble Spring Chereve Mousse with maple, chestnut, and compressed pear. I can't stop talking about this dish. I took the first spoonful with the first pear and I felt like I was shot to heaven. It was the juiciest, most surreal bite of fruit that I've ever felt in my life. There was a crunch that felt like maybe it was slightly frozen but also bursting with juices like... crunchy boba almost or something idk wtf. I was prepared not to enjoy it as I'm not the biggest fan of chevre but it was balanced perfectly with the chestnut. Not too tart. Not too sweet. The maple granola? Ish on top provided a nice extra, different type of crunch. Actually not sweet at all. The granola complemented it perfectly by serving as the sweetener. I thought the dish only came with five pieces of pear. Imagine my joy when I dug deeper into the bowl and there was plenty. Good lord. I got the faintest hint of jasmine? From the pear... or something. I didn't know what it was but I got a chance to speak to pastry afterwards and she told me she used apple cider vinegar, OJ, and.... Orange blossom extract? Genius. I love that the menus are DATED....... I have an entire two more paragraphs but I fear I'm over the 5000 character limit.

The place felt lively and fun, and there's also a small outdoor patio that fills up quickly. We ended up sitting at the bar (which we had reserved). Btw, they have a small complimentary parking lot next door plus a paid lot across the street, which is convenient. I had heard so much hype about the food, but for me it didn't totally live up to it. The biscuits were overly salty and not something I wanted to finish. The cold shrimp with blood orange was an interesting combo that I surprisingly liked. I ordered the steak and while it was cooked perfectly, the portion felt small for the price. It also came with broccolini and a really good sauce. Although our bartender/server was super attentive and friendly, it did take a very long time for our entrées to come out. He even had to go check on them and ended up bringing the food back themselves. Unfortunately, mine was honestly a little lukewarm. Overall, it was just mid for me. The small signage made it a little difficult to find inside the Marriott (see pictures), but from the moment we walked in, heard the live piano player and saw the dining area - we knew this would be a great experience. We started off by sharing orders of Lobster Bisque (see picture) and Burrata with Toast (see pictures). We really enjoyed both of them - the Lobster Bisque was so creamy and smooth and the Burrata was cool, fresh and clean. They were a great combination to start our dinner experience and I would recommend both of them. Since it was a Friday during lent, my wife opted for the BBQ Shrimp Pasta (see picture) and I went with the Daily Fish Special on Blue Corn Grits (see picture). As we always do when we go out, we shared our plates and really enjoyed both of them. The BBQ Shrimp Pasta was rich, buttery and smooth and the Fish Special was a tasty white, flaky and blackened fish served on a bed of rich, creamy blue corn grits. Here again, both are highly recommended. While it is one of your more expensive area stops for dinner, you will appreciate the food quality and presentation at Gannons Nashville for your next special occasion. All six of us were delighted with our meals. The portions were large and cooked perfectly. I can't remember a better restaurant experience. They knocked it out of the park!
